Ceren blanched at the name Bluerise Tower. "Bluerise? Damn! I wouldn't have tried that even in my best days. Okay, since you came seeking me out, rather than simply burning me down, I assume you have some kind of deal to offer?"

REMO nods. "The Starfinder Society would be interested in this information. Perhaps, if we can remove the data without triggering any alarms, we can throw the authorities off your trail. In return, the Society could very much use someone of your skills. They may even be able to help you manage your condition, though that much I could not say with certainty. Still, their resources are considerable, and I have no doubt you would be well-paid for your services. What say you?"


"It doesn't look as if I have too many options. I can't evade Corporate Security in my state, but you have to know that they won't stop looking for me just because I joined the Starfinders. I would be looking over my shoulder every day for the rest of my life. That's why you have to kill me."

From the kitchen came a strangled "What?!?!?!?!" and Jubair rushed back into the room.

"Settle down dear, I just want them to fake my death. A few false certificates, maybe an ID swap on a body in the morgue, a new identity. Nothing too difficult. Then, once I have been spirited away by the Starfinders, we can do a more permanent fix. What do you think? Do the five of you have the skills to pull that off?"

"Oh, this reminds me of the good old days. Tell you what, I'll give you five hours to do what you need to do, while Jubar and I pack up the essentials here and go into temporary hiding. I know of a place not far from here where we can hole up for a bit. Then, in five hours, we'll meet you on the footbridge in Jatembe park. Sound good?"

REMO considers for a moment. "Bodies would be difficult to procure. A method not requiring corpses would be easier. We could falsify documents placing them on a lost or destroyed ship. Of course, seeing as the likelihood that a vessel has been lost or destroyed in the last hour or two makes that unlikely unless we can falsify the report of a destroyed ship, as well."

Xerric looks thoughtful for a second, "Whatever we come up with, it'll be wrong. See, all we know about faking your own death has come from people that failed at doing so - the successful ones were successful, so there's no way to tell how they did it. I heard a great radio broadcast on it once - the key is don't go down any route in which they expect to find the body, like drowning."

She mentally hems and haws, "A video of being blown out an airlock might work!"

Off topic, I personally did listen to a podcast about faking your own death less than a week ago and all the above points were made in said podcast.

Kis has been pondering the question on how to fake a death for a while. "Xerric has a good point. If we can figure out a way that would destroy a body, I might be able to whip something up with some cameras to fool the authorities. Or at least for long enough to get the 2 of them hidden."

REMO nods at Xerric. "Fair point. It is not a topic easily studied, as all the experts are hidden from us."

He turns to Kis. "Allow me to scan the Infosphere. Perhaps I can find some older footage somewhere that you can doctor. If nothing else, it will throw the authorities off their trail for a brief time, maybe enough to change identities."

REMO opens up the Infosphere on his personal comm and gets to searching for usable vids.

Being dead means you have to get a new life, which means a new profession profession musician: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (17) = 22 normally I have a +10, but that is because I have tools +4 and clothing +1, I'd assume I don't get those bonuses when teaching someone else a new profession, since they aren't wearing my clothing or using my profession tools

REMO turns to Bodo. "I think the Starfinder Society will have plenty of work for her. Still, new skills are never a bad idea." He watches carefully as the halfling's fingers fly over the instrument, storing it away for later consideration.

Xerric, after spending some time reviewing the last podcast he listened to, starts relaying as much information as he can, "You know, another thing about pretending to be dead is the body. In the old days, they used to say drowning was a terrible way to fake death - getting lost in the woods was the way to go!"

It took a little while to fake records of Ceren's death, largely because REM-0 insisted that the nose looked wrong on the faked video...3 times. Finally, you managed to get the video records in lace, and the death certificate. Xerric was listening to the latest run of How to Fake a Murderer, and had some tips, most of which proved useless. However, he did have some pointers about the video time stamps and the death records that were useful. In the end, you decided it would just have to work.

The next step is getting Ceren a new identity.

As the topic of a new identity comes up, DJ speaks up. "Now this part I'm familiar with. We just need to fake up some records and give them enough history that they don't draw any unwanted attention."

DJ pauses for a thought, "Oh, and we need to plant them in the right place. Where they can grow." he finishes with a grin.

He starts working up a new background for Ceren.

REMO helps DJ come up with the details, using his experience tracking criminals to note what not to do.

DJ and REMO set up a believable identity for Ceren. She is now Adena, a retired mid-level clerk from one of the many datasphere marketing companies calling Absalom Station home. Bodo made them add in a bit about how the woman was a talented synth-pipes players, because of course he did. Once they were done, Kis backstopped the identity with fake housing records, credit reports, and even a once-outstanding loan that was finally paid off. It looked credible. It should certainly hold long enough for Historia-7 to get Ceren under some kind of protection.

With that, it was time to go meet Ceren at Jatembe Park. Open to all citizens, Jatembe Park occupies a wide portion of the Eye of Absalom Station. Filled with lush trees and open grass fields, the park offers some natural terrain to the otherwise metalclad station. Ceren’s meeting point is one such forested portion of the park, specifically a spot often ignored by citizens due to the winding path required to reach it.

As you approach, you can see Ceren waiting at the center of the bridge, occasionally dropping leaves into the water below and looking like she hasn't got a care in the world. Only a perceptive eye could see how she occasionally looked from side to side, as if looking for trouble or awaiting friends. She spotted you and stood a little straighter, opening her mouth to call out just as another group approached from the other side of the bridge. They were focused on Ceren, and not really paying attention to anyone else. One of them said "That's her, Kip," and pointed directly at Ceren. All three of the newcomers pulled pulsecasters.

The leader, Kip, saw you and said, "Don't get involved citizens. This is StatSec business. Lady, you're coming with us. Please don't make a scene." Despite his words, the trio looked more like scruffy thugs than Station Security.

After dealing with constructing a new identity, Kis is more aware of the need for proper identification. "Let's see some identification that says your StatSec. Otherwise, we will have no recourse but to end you." As she says this, she pulls her hail pistol and a laser pistol rises from inside Diggz.

He grabbed Ceren by the arm and started to drab her off the bridge, keeping his gun trained on REM-0.

Seeing the thugs ignore their warnings, Kis moves up beside Bodo. "You heard hum, Diggz. GET 'EM!!" Diggz silently moves up ahead of Kis and fires at the thug threatening Ceren.

REMO strides forward eyeing the thug directly in front of Ceren as his quick-release sheath launches his tactical pistol directly into his hands and firing.

Using full-round action for Trick Attack, moving then firing.

He's unused to the new upgrade, however, and his first shot is sloppy.

Bodo stepped up and unloaded his sonic street sweeper, somehow missing Ceren and the leader and hitting the two thugs in the back. REMO opened up with a tac pistol, causing the thugs to dodge, which also caused Xerric to miss with his thrown rock - who brings rocks to a gunfight? Kis managed to land a shot on the leader, who then crumpled to the ground under a barrage of magical missiles from DJ.

The thugs in the back saw their leader go down and they wavered. then, the woman shouted something incoherent and began firing. Her companion opened up as well, pulses of electrical energy sweeping over the bridge. REMO was in the lead and he took the brunt of the return fire, his organo-electrical systems juddering as the pulsecasters caused local mini-short circuits.

Round 2:

While physiologically ruffled, REMO's face shows no signs of being fazed. He lines up another shot at the thug directly across from him on the bridge and fires.

Once the leader falls, Kis moves up close to Ceren with her pistol drawn. She yells to Diggz, "Get that woman!" Diggz moves up as well and levels the pistol at the woman before firing.

Xerric watches the carnage with what you would imagine is a horrified look on her face, but you never know because it's just so darned hard to read a Shirren.

Seeing the rock miss Xerric moves forward before mentally grabbing a small downed branch from one of the nearby trees to hurl at the male thug.

Bodo's scattergun once more barks out a blast of sound, and the woman across the bridge winced in pain. The other thug ignored the halfling, focusing instead on not being killed by REMO. The android managed to get a shot in anyways, even as Xerric and DJ missed their targets. Kis' robotic pal managed to graze the female thug, though really it seemed like a minor wound.

Both of the thugs fired at Bodo, the halfling being the closest target and the one with the biggest gun. A pair of electrical arcs converged on him, and Bodo was treated to the same short circuits of his biological systems that he had watched REMO handle a moment ago. The woman moved up to Ceren and grabbed her arm. The old hacker looked as if she had gone into some kind of trance, staring off into space and not really focused on anything around her.

Round 3:

Bodo takes 2 hits for a total of 3 damage

Bodo moved in, still firing his sonic cannon and making the thugs wince with every blast. REMO's shots took the woman in the left side, doing significant damage, and leaving DJ to charge in. Unfortunately, the man stripped over Diggz as he moved, throwing off both the bot's aim and his own. Kis manged to land a shot on the other thug before ducking away from the return fire. Xerric tried hurling another stick into the fray with its mind, but failed to grasp the thing fully and it went sailing over the bridge.

The female thug released Ceren's arm and backed away, still firing. She caught DJ a glancing blow with her pulsecaster. The man fired at Kis, who had just hit him with a gun that shot icicles, catching the ysoki full in the chest with a blast of electrical energy.

Round 4:

DJ takes a hit for 1 damage
