A living, moving fabric seems to cover the ceiling of this half-collapsed chamber, which stretches northwest into darkness. The pungent smell of ammonia rises from the droppings that litter the floor.

Your party starts to move through the secret door hundreds of high-pitched squeaks fill the air as a mass of small, carnivorous bats surges forth, all of them hungry for blood. You can see the bats swarming together in the other room where the wall is also partly missing along with the floor and door.

Bat swarms dwell in large caves, ruins, or even city sewers—anywhere they can find darkness to hide in during the day and a supply of food to feast upon at night. They are only encountered outside in a group at dawn or dusk, or when they have been startled and forced to flee their lairs.

Wild empathy doesn’t really work that way, it’s a diplomacy tool. It will take about 10 rounds give or take for you to influence its attitude towards you.

You both are also now bleeding and will take 1 bleed damage on your turn. The bleeding can be stopped by a DC 10 Heal check or the application of a cure spell or some other healing magic.

The fire from the splash weapon continues to burn the bats this round and it seems that most of them die to the point the swarm disperses and the remaining bats fly away.

You will need to resolve your bleeds however, so we stay in rounds until you manage that.

Seeing that Magnu is healing everyone with the wand, Lissi reloads her crossbow and moves back toward the door where the swarm came from to look around.
