You are in Absalom, the mighty City at the Center of the World, and you’ve always longed to explore one of the countless ruins of failed conquerors that litter the plains outside the city’s walls.
You’ve heard rumors that one of the sealed siege castles has been laid open by a minor earthquake. Word on the street is that no one has yet entered the tower, which folks are calling the “Fallen Fortress.” What better way to start a life of excitement and adventure than by exploring its long-abandoned, dusty halls and perhaps claiming its ancient treasures?
Venture-Captain Moldreserva greets you all as you move into the meeting room. "Hello pathfinders, I am so glad you came. We have a mission for you. An earthquake of recent has opened up a wall to a tower that seemed previously to have no entrance. The society has decided to send a group out to explore, report and cooperate. We believe this is a simple mission and hope you can go and discover what the tower was once used for. The journey is only a few hours from the city walls. Unfortunately, we know just as much as you do about the tower. Do you accept this mission?"

A thin, dusty-pale gnome speaks up. Her hair is limp and faded pink, and her skin is a chalky-gray color that almost causes her to disappear next to the stones of the walls, making it easy for one's gaze to simply slip right over her; in fact, she is so drained of color that the drab brown of her leather armor is the most vibrant part of her person.
"Y-yes," she chirps, then slides surreptitiously back down into her chair, making no eye contact with Venture-Captain Moldreserva or anyone else.

A burly woman of Taldan stock comes through the door just as the Venture Captain starts the brief. She drops her pack in the corner silently and listens intently. After she enthusiastically answersYes! I have been itching for some action. I am Vanna, of the Cassomir Therinors. I am ready to go at a moment's notice.

"Good. Here is a map with the tower location marked on it. Don't loose this. Perhaps you should spend some time to get to know each other before you head out. You will also want to make any final purchases before you leave, it's always best to be prepared than not. Now are there any questions I may answer before I get back to training a new recruit?" Venture-Captain Moldreserva looks upon you all.
You may depart at anytime for the tower. If you need to make purchases before you go let me know.

Lissi rubs her arm and stares at the floor. "'m Lissi," she mumbles, then shuffles over to the door and stands there, though she makes no immediate move to leave.

Magnu is a 6-foot tall human man with a well-groomed beard and a shaved head. He wears wizard robes but has the portion above the belt pull off with the sleeves tied around his waist.
"This is just the type of adventure I came out of retirement for! Let me warn you retirement will kill you. After 10 years most of my power had atrophied. I got weak so I started doing 'X fitness'. That's how I got in shape."

Lissi shakes her head a little too vigorously. "No," she says quietly. Traces of a Galtan accent slip through her words. "Carry light. 'm fine."

The ruined siege castle now being called the Fallen Fortress rises out of the churned earth of the Cairnlands. No doors or windows mar the otherwise smooth expanse of the tower’s walls. The tower is quatrefoil in plan; its eastern wing has largely collapsed, exposing the interior floors to the open air. Only the topmost level seems whole, though its eastern portion hangs precariously over the mountain of rubble left by the collapse. At ground level, the rubble frames a gaping hole in the side of the building that provides access to the tower’s darkened interior.

Also, everyone this is difficult terrain as there is lots of rubble on the ground where you are. Only the grassy area is non-difficult. What this means for you, half you move speed, you can't 5 ft step, run or charge.

Paltair looks longingly at the fortress, trying to imagine the stories it holds still within its walls. Reluctantly, he tears his gaze away to focus on the dogs approaching.
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Raising his voice, Paltair begins to chant. "As the warriors of the Burning Sun cast off their darkness and embraced the light, so too shall you bring joy to the world and shine bright!" His shield and the weapons of his companions begin to glow as if in response to his song.
Paltair begins his Weapon Song, granting all allies within 60 ft a +1 bonus to their weapons.

With a yelp, Lissi looses a bolt at the nearest dog.
Forgot I'd swapped the shortbow for a crossbow, so that's what she'd have out instead of a bow as mentioned earlier. Firing at the blue-lined dog. I believe Magnu is giving it cover from me, so that would mean no sneak attack even if it's flat-footed. If I'm incorrect there, let me know.

Lissi looks up at the gap in the wall that needs to be climbed and sighs. "I, ah... did not think to bring rope," she admits, a small spot of color rising to her dusty cheeks.
Then, to no one in particular, she mutters, "Yes, I know. You're very perceptive. Please shut up." She closes her eyes and shudders violently, then returns her gaze to the hole in the tower as if nothing happened.
