Fenguk Fargaze |

@Snorri: no need to feel like a jerk. I appreciate you looking over my sheet. As we all are learning this new system it's good to question.
Thank you for moving back to me. May Erastil ease your pain. Fenguk touches one of your wounds and you feel a slight ease of the pain. He then fires two shots at the red minotaur.
Action 1: Somatic action to cast heal on Snorri
Heal: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Action 2 and 3: ATK 2, inspired: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 1 = 22
DMG 1, inspired: 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 1 = 5
ATK 2, inspired: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 1 - 5 = 13
DMG 1, inspired: 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 1 = 4

Reta Smallgood |

I guess I forgot to actually make the Intimidation check.
Demoralize, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 3 = 25
Current Round
Reta calls forth a frigid ray, then strikes at the minotaur with her sword.
It looks like from the rules (pg 192-196) that casting a spell in combat only provokes AoO's from Fighters. Not sure if that applies here -- if so I'll take the AoO and learn something.
Ray of Frost, vs TAC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Short Sword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 = 16
Critical Success Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 4) + 4 = 13
I take back all the bad things I've ever said about you, Dicebot.

DoubleGold |

Snorri hits the minotaur twice with hammer that 18 hits too
dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 = 11
The telekinetic projectile misses
Fenguk sticks on on the red minotaur
Reta hits the red minotaur twice after it becomes frightened of him. Killing it. No aao, it became frightened
Hylar is up

Hylar |

Hylar swings his massive sword, the fuel of his anger bringing it down with immense force.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 2d12 + 10 ⇒ (9, 6) + 10 = 25
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 5 = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 10 ⇒ (5) + 9 - 10 = 4
All that force doesn't lend itself to a tremendous amount of accuracy and only his first blow rings true.

DoubleGold |

Hylar only hits the minotaur once, but hits him hard.
He swings back hit: 11 + 1d20 ⇒ 11 + (14) = 25
hit: 11 - 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 11 - 5 + (17) = 23
hit: 11 - 10 + 1d20 ⇒ 11 - 10 + (20) = 21
dmg+crit: 4d12 + 28 ⇒ (5, 9, 7, 11) + 28 = 60 maybe they don't all hit, use the first d12+7 for each on that does, then the second d12+7, etc, and don't forget to add the crit, so four possible d12's +28

Reta Smallgood |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Reta hops up to the bridge
Acrobatics, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 4 = 28
and moves silently to flank the remaining minotaur.
Action 1: Sneak
Stealth, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 4 = 23
Sneak rules say I fail if I "don’t have cover or aren’t concealed from them at any time during your movement", which seems to make it fairly useless for closing with enemies. Is that how you interpret that, GM?
In any case, the minotaur should be flat-footed by being flanked anyway, so in this case it doesn't really matter, I believe.
She strikes twice with a wicked glint in her eye, shouting a traditional Goblin war-cry.
Yippee-ki-yay, cow-boy!
Shortsword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 Damage, Sneak Attack: 2d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 + (1, 6) = 18
Shortsword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Damage, Sneak Attack: 2d6 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 4 + (6, 1) = 19

Fenguk Fargaze |

Fenguk runs up behind Hylar drawing his staff of healing. He then casts Heal (heightened to level 2) as he touches his back. Finally he drops the staff and fires a shot into the Minotaurs face.
Action 1: move and draw the staff
Action 2: Somatic action to cast Heal level 2 heal: 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) + 2 = 15 1d8 from spell +2d8 heightened +2 bonus from staff
Action 3: Ranged Strike
Atk, inspired, cover?: 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 17
DMG: 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 = 8

DoubleGold |

Reta moves up the minotaur swings twice and kills it
And you are right about stealth there Reta, if you don't have cover at any time, you are seen, even if only for a single square, which means you would have to have cover up until the last square of movement, possible, but highly unlikely. Now if you were to pull a stunt like they do in the cartoons where you have a garbage can or bushes on your body and move and suddenly plump down when enemy turns his head that could work. Enemy might have to have low intelligence though.

Fenguk Fargaze |

Well done everyone. Erastil blessed us today. How is everyone? Does anyone need more healing. I have one more charge on my staff. I can burst healing energy to everyone or focus healing on one personne.
I thought I had more charges on my staff when I rolled my character. I didn’t realize that a second level heal used 2 charges. And I only have 5 charges total.

Reta Smallgood |

Reta dances the Dance Of We Did It Together! Yay, Teamwork!
Deception, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 3 = 19
It's actually the Dance Of Goblin Superiority Over All Lesser Races, And That Includes You, Even If You're Also A Goblin.
The dance takes longer to pronounce than to actually perform.

Snorri Sturgesson |

Snorri groans in pain as some of his wounds close with divine energy. "Thank you and Erastil for the help. I will take care of myself further, Hylar may require more assistance".
He then begins to hum a soothing ballad.
Casting Soothe spontaneously heightened to 2nd level. My other spontaneously heightened spell for the day is Summon Monster.
Soothe: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) + 4 = 18
Snorri is at 63 HP now, good to go.

Fenguk Fargaze |

Fenguk picks up his staff and pokes Hylar’s wound with it. ”May Erastil guide your hunt. This may hurt.
Heal lvl 2: 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) + 2 = 7
Fenguk will then check out the Minotaurs and look for any hint of where they came from or if they sent by someone. He is looking for insignias, orders, or anything like that.
The GM roles the perception checks in secret now, if I’m not mistaken.

DoubleGold |

Heroes do find the caravan nearby, like behind the bushes or something. Five slain guards. They all have shortbows with 20 arrows and longswords. The minotaurs have greataxes and unholy symbols.
1.Knowledge Religion to identify the symbol
2.Wagon has been raided of supplies. Perception to find secret compartment.
3. Three thievery checks to open the secret compartment, though you don't have to succeed three times in a row, just succeed three times before you crit fail once, otherwise, a reset and risk damaging what is inside, give me five rolls at once would be best for this.
edit: I'm not going to bother rolling stuff in secret unless we are in combat

Reta Smallgood |

Thievery Perception? That's my specialty!
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Thievery, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 4 = 18
Thievery, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 4 = 13
Thievery, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 4 = 18
Thievery, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 4 = 20
Thievery, Trained: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 4 = 17

DoubleGold |

Heroes manage to get the box open without breaking it 10 or below would have been crit fail
Treasure
The stash contains three alchemist’s fires, three
lesser elixirs of life, one tanglefoot bag, and one
thunderstone, as well as a week’s worth of trail rations.
Just a mile northeast of the caravan ambush site is the
home of the Gorebreather tribe, a group of Baphometworshiping
minotaurs. High Priestess Mildora has
acted as the tribe’s leader for many years, and the tribe
has remained relatively stable under her leadership. The
Gorebreathers find themselves in constant battles with
the other scattered minotaur tribes on the Isle of Kortos,
vying for control over resources and territories. These
minotaurs also supplement their resources by attacking
traveling merchants making their way to and from
Absalom. Unfortunately for the Gorebreathers, a recent
intruder into their territory has left them at a severe
disadvantage in these territorial engagements.
Map is up Move as you please, but not too far

Snorri Sturgesson |

were we supposed to see that last sentence?
Snorri spits on the symbol and throws it on the ground, then stamps it into the earth with his heavy boot.
"Dirty demon-worshipers!", he utters in disgust. "No doubt they intend to sacrifice her to their vile patron in some bloody ritual. We must hurry!"

DoubleGold |

This is just history or rumors of what you know. Not like I've told you where anything is at.

Snorri Sturgesson |

Snorri will affix a potency crystal onto his hammer along the way. Cautiously moving along he will investigate the opening in the vegetation to his right side.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

DoubleGold |

Heroes move forward and Reta sneaks forward. Everyone still sees or hears nothing. snorri sees a stone bench and chairs, but nobody on them or sign that anyone was using them recently.

DoubleGold |

Two minotaurs see Reta and they call out to the leader a third Minotaur Halt, who goes there. Our people have been attacked, was it you?
Fenguk did not identify the unholy symbol, only that it is unholy
You all notice that none of these minotaurs are NOT wearing unholy symbols like the last group.

Snorri Sturgesson |

Snorri weighs his hammer in his hand.
"That depends on who you call "your people". Our people have also been attacked and kidnapped on the road, as it happens, and while looking for them we had to defend ourselves from some Baphomet-worshipping minotaurs. If these were your people, you too can prepare to visit your unholy patron in the Abyss!"
Intimidation: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

DoubleGold |

You don't scare me, and you threaten to take us to the abyss? Our people wearing Baphomet, blasphemy And they laugh at you after they say abyss and then continue with the second sentence 10 seconds later. That intimidation was a failure. Persuasion and/or Intimidation on this is very high.

Snorri Sturgesson |

Snorri tries his best to hide his embarrassment.
"Well if you're not worshipping Baphomet that's good, perhaps we have encountered a different tribe! How does your tribe look upon robbing caravans and kidnapping people, though?"
He tries to gauge if they're lying, I think this is now under Perception?
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

DoubleGold |

You know they don't believe you there Snorri. Maybe if you hold up the Baphomet symbol. Also, hint, even if any of you were successful with intimidation, it does nothing in term of preventing this combat from happening, I need Persuasion and holding up the symbol gives some kind of bonus.
Minotaur culture? Not sure the group as a whole has a culture, though you know they have a reputation for loving mazes, being destructive ravenous beasts, and they love to charge. These guys here don't seem to be the stereotype of that.

DoubleGold |

Yes, someone can still say they did, and even if they didn't, you can still beat the persuasion without it.

Fenguk Fargaze |

[ooc]sorry I haven’t posted in a bit. Fenguk would probably have picked it up. It seemed like an important hint...
Fenguk pulls out the dirty symbol that Snorri stomped. Listen my horny friends. What my companions say is true. 3 Minotaurs attacked us at the site of an ambush. Help us find our friends and we will help you find answers.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Reta Smallgood |

Reta steps out of the brush where she was "hidden".
Yup yup yup, what he said. We was ambushed and forced to defend ourselves. We got's proof, we do!
Auto-succeed on Diplomacy Aid Another DC10

DoubleGold |

Reta talks some sense into the minotaurs while Fenguk holds up the symbol and cannot come close to aiding or convincing, It gave +2, so you have a 20, but you need a 22 However, they are still not sure you are who you say you are.
Snorri, can you pass the aid diplomacy check? We only need one. DC 15 to avoid this combat.

Snorri Sturgesson |

Right, I totally forgot I have the Versatile Performance feat... let's see if I can Make an Impression on those guys.
Also I hope to gods Fenguk meant horned friends, not horny!
Snorri puts his hammer away and draws the bagpipes instead.

Amazing! Thank you Snorri. And we will never know if Fenguk meant horned or horny.... Perhaps that's why he failed.

Crowley waits until the filk is complete and unfolds his arms from within the folds of his robes. One hand on a dagger that he releases as he sees these creatures just want to talk. The PCs are able to convince the minotaurs that they
seek only the clasp. Mildora explains that the harpy is very
powerful and the PCs may not be able to stand against his
might. She asks the PCs to spar with her warriors to prove
their strength, as noted below.
You have earned Mildora's favor. You spar with the them, nonlethal fight, but easily win. It is your five vs Two and a half minotaurs like last time. And you decimated them, and no limit as to what you can use as long you nonlethal at the end.
She heals any injured PCs and even offers them a place to
rest for the night among their tribe if they wish. The high
priestess explains that Ryolle attacked the tribe recently and
the harpy tends to wait a few days between engagements to
replenish his servants, so the PCs will be safe if they wish
to stay the night. The heroes free Inisa, she is pleased with the outcome and explains that she will return to Diobel to recover and check in with the hurt caravan members. Once the PCs are ready to go, the minotaurs are happy to point them towards Ryolle’s lair. The Minotaurs stop their attacks on the road realizing they had bad members among the tribe, or get the ones who are attacking to stop. We would be honored if you spent the night with us. You have some type of undead things to fight in Ryolle's Lair that walk that area. Then harpies rule the rest of the forest, be strong heroes and fight them, but first rest with us and let us heal your wounds.

Fenguk Fargaze |

Well fought dear friends! May Erastil give lots of bunnies in your snares and berries in your bush. I thank you for the rest and we are now ready to take on the undead things in Ryolle's lair. But can you tell me is she weak against anything or resistant against some thing.[/dice]
What knowledge check would this be?
