When you're ready, use this thread to introduce your PC to the GM and to the party. Please do so in-character.
Some Basic Rules of Engagement (ROE):
OOC Text: When mistakes are made or clarifications are necessary, just let us know in the discussion thread. Let's keep the ooc text in the gameplay thread to a minimum.
Conditions/Effects: Regarding penalties or bonuses/buffs/debuffs from conditions/effects, please, players, indicate any bonuses/penalties to attacks, damage, etc separately--to remind the GM and other players.
For example, [dice=Attack, Power Attack, Inspire Courage, Fatigued]d20-1+1-2; d8+2+1-2[/ dice].
Animal Companion/Mount/Familiar/Eidolon: Please create a separate alias for it, especially if it will act on its own. Also indicate its Perception and Initiative modifier, as well as your own, on Slide 2.
Initiative: Animal Companions/Mounts/Familiars/Eidolons will have their own Initiative results. They can act independently or you can opt to have you and your companion act at the same time on the lower of the two Initiative results. The one with the higher result will be considered delayed, but not flat-footed.
Miss Chance: I prefer to roll miss chances as the GM; if you roll it, please use a d100, where a "miss" is less than or equal to the percentage chance.
Undiana Jones |
A portly fellow with bluish skin and a jovial expression comes bustling up, bearing a platter covered with a simple cloth. ”Sorry to be late, so sorry, though I believe when you see what delayed me you’ll forgive me.” He pulls the cloth aside, revealing an array of... well, it’s hard to say what these concoctions may be: clusters of rice and vegetables and mysterious-looking lumps of fish meat. Seeing the quizzical expressions on his companions’ faces, he throws his head back and roars with laughter. ”Aye, not many in Avistan have acquired the taste yet, but believe you me, it won’t be long before the Kings and Queens of the Inner Sea and beyond are all hankering for a taste! Undiana Jones is the name - Undy to my friends - and I aim to be the sushi king of all Golarion; it’s just a matter of time before I’ve got a franchise in every hamlet this side of Katheer. But as you can imagine, it’ll take some capital to get the ball rolling, which is what brought me to the Pathfinder Society: hard to find a better way to make a quick buck, don’t you know? But where’s my manners? I’m sure after hearing all this you must be famished, which is why I hope you’ll forgive my lateness - if you want to harvest the freshest baby reef claw you’ve got towait until the tides are just right (and it doesn’t hurt to wait until mama reef claw has gone out neither!).” He offers the platter towards the group, and as he does so, a small dragon pokes its head out of his robe and slurps up half the samples in a flash. ”Riddywipple! Those are samples for our new customers, I mean friends!” Sheepishly, Undy offers the remaining samples to the group, while the faerie dragon smacks his lips with gusto.
Craft (Sushi): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Tessara glides into the office, smiling at the others collected. ”Very nice to see all of you this morning. Pleasure to be working with you again, Mr. Jones. Any idea what to expect?”. The elf was wearing her comfortable robes and no armor, clearly some sort of caster. She lacked a large spellbook, but information about her didn’t come particularly easy.
She took the most comfortable chair, crossed her legs and tucked into her bag, pulling out a pair of knitting hooks and a ball of thread. She set to knitting, waiting for the meeting to begin, helping focus her mind. As she continued to work, a slight movement was seen in her robes. After a moment, a tiny monkey poked it’s head out, looked around and maneuver to sit on her shoulder.
I don’t ever use Zeriah, the monkey, in combat, DM. She’s mostly there for fluff and I don’t use her for anything except storytelling in the grand scheme of things,
Seren's Seven |
Seren storms into the room like a very tiny typhoon, thrust aside a door with the book in her hand. A book she begins to wave about haphazardly while having a conversation with either a ficus or the air in front of it. "I didn' steal nothin'! Amenopheny told me I had to read more books and get smart, so I just wen' to the library took a few!" She pauses, a frown pursing her lips. "I ain' gettin' no stupid card firs', they say you can borrow books, so I did. Might even return 'em!"
She huffs and turns her attention to the rest of the room. Seren is a gutter snipe that looks barely old enough to be working for the society. She is dressed as if she fell through every closet in the Grand Lodge, with mismatched attire meant for everyone from a scholar's frock and Kalkamedes' night cap to a knight's boot on one foot and a well-worn traveling shoe on the other. Around her neck hangs a thick metal chain clasping an expensive looking amber jewel.
The only consistency in her clothing are seven colorful scarves tied all over her body. She likewise carries a hodgepodge of equipment meant for every sort of adventurer, including more than one holy symbol and a pair of wakizashi at her waist that have clearly been tied to her belt incorrectly.
At the sight of both Undiana and Tessara the little glower on his face vanishes to give way to a bright smile. More for Undiana as she slides up and pilfers several pieces of his food with no subtlety. One piece vanishes into her mouth and she offers him a thumbs up before creeping over towards Tess's shoulder monkey, a piece of sushi held out to tempt it.
Neptune the Sith Cat |
Some heavy thuds are coming from nearby, and the sounds of exasperated and irritated high pitch noises. Eventually a spell is heard being cast and then some silence before an unbelievable sight...
A cat that walks on its hind-legs enters into the room, having a floating disk carry a coffin in slightly after it. The coffin has the appearance of having been buried for months on end with caked dirt. Chains wrapped around it several times all lead to a singular rusted padlock that requires a large skeleton key.
The cat also carries a little toy-like shovel in its front paws, and around its neck it has a key as a necklace.
"Mrow?"
The Eldritch |
As someone tempts their luck and takes the key from the Cat, and slowly unlatches the padlock, a burst of energy then causes the lid to fly off its hinges and fly several feet into the air before crashing with a loud, resounding thud nearby.
A figure with long, black hair, crimson and black robes that have been interwoven with chain-mail links made of mithril, and long bony fingers with sharp nails climbs out, with a dour expression. He sits up straight and looks around to see his surroundings.
"Next time I wish they would follow through on those rescue missions sooner." Then he stretches and his bones crack and pop several times. "I was stuck in there wondering when Neptune would get me out." He stands up, checking the ring on his finger that kept him alive this entire time. "Thats the last time I venture in Geb."
Finally the Elf with the vulpine facial features stretches his dour expression into a grin, hands stretched wide as if addressing a crowd. "Greetings, one and all. I am the powerful and magnificent Eldritch!" With one smooth motion, he lowers himself at his waste and takes a deep bow, one hand behind his back and one to his waste. "And thanks to my wonderful assistant", he says pointing to the cat, "I walk the world above the dirt once again!" Neptune then, in one swift motion, jumps onto his shoulder and sits with its lower legs crossed.
He gingerly reaches over to Undy's platter of sushi, tossing a piece into his open mouth and chewing quietly. "This is quite delicious. Better than magical sustenance anyways."
This character had a boon placed on him to go onto his own adventuring up to 1 full year and not being a Pathfinder. Evidently, his adventures got him in trouble and some people left him for dead. He would have been if not for his spell Keep Watch Pathfinder Companion:Knights of the Inner Sea Page #28 to prevent his horrible nightmares and his Ring of Sustenance to prevent starvation.
He is an arcane caster that utilizes more support and utility based spells rather than heavy hitting spells, primarily because his main method of attack is his Mystic Bolts Energy Attack (Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Intrigue Page 60-61). Be ready for him to cast Haste at the start of almost every fight.
His familiar, Neptune the Sith Cat, has the ability to permanently see invisibility as the spell.
Undiana Jones |
Monday, August 13, is my wedding anniversary, so I will most likely not be able to post at all that day. Also, I will be traveling Thursday, August 16 to Monday, August 20 and may have very limited internet access. Please bot me as needed.
Alexander Divyr Incostas |
"Without Order, there is only Chaos!.. Without Law there is only Anarchy!"
"Embrace order, embrace truth and know peace."
"Have you heard the good-news of Asmodeus?"
Alexander Divyr Incostas is an imposing sight. Clad in his magical unholy full plate (which is adorned with skulls, tormented faces and arcane symbols of Infernal Magic), the Inquisitor of Asmodeus is the living embodiment of professionalism, dedication and military rigidity.
(Alexander bows slightly to the group, his right fist clenched across the 5-pinnacle star of his breastplate)"It is good to meet you all...it appears the Society once again has need our varied skills to solve some potentially world-ending dilemma." (Alexander cracks just the slightest of smiles).
Seren's Seven |
Whether or not Seren succeeds at feeding Tessara's familiar, she doesn't hesitate to tempt said luck and unlatch Eldritch's coffin. She also doesn't hesitate to pocket the key without any effort to be subtle about it. Souvenirs and all.
Of course when energy bursts and coffin lids fly she flails about with a yelp and lands on her back staring up at dramatic introduction. "Oi! Don' ya know how to knock!? Ya nearly scared one of my spiri' righ' off, yeah?" Still, that's a neat looking cat and she gets moderately distracted by it while pulling herself back onto her feet. She might be considering the potential of riding it as a mighty steed. "Hey... how'd ya get stuck in a coffin anyway?"
Alexander she barely has time to address with all the commotion, but she makes a mental note that she needs to help the guy relax, he looks pretty stressed out.
The Eldritch |
Turning his head towards Seren, Eldritch's white and empty eyes look over and see that she has a key sticking out of her pocket. "Ah, your the one who unlocked me. That curiosity is most certainly welcomed!" Looking her over a few times. "Interesting, I see that you and I are very similar. We are not just a single entity! Oh, you and I are now new best friends!" He says, turning his full body towards her with a piece of sushi clutched between two long sharp fingernails.
"As for how I got into the coffin, I will gladly tell you new friend! Afterall, it was a rather amusing little story. Some time ago a Pathfinder who got himself caught in a monstrously large fortress near Geb needed rescuing and I was sent on the mission to try to free him." Then swiftly chews on the sushi before continuing. "Well he got freed and I got captured. Neptune managed to dig me out of a unique punishment the locals of that region give to law breakers. Very amusing indeed, I should consider returning the favor for them sometime in the future." He says then gives a chuckle.
Then he turns swiftly as a single motion towards Alexander. Giving him a glance over, catching any loose detail. "Ah yes, absolutely a pleasure to meet a Chelaxian. From the Goblinblood War impacted land of Isger, if I am not mistaken? Those were dark times, indeed."
GM Lorenzo |
We're still waiting for Valoria Lackland, Cavalier-7/Spiritualist-1. I sent a PM to GreySector, but haven't yet had a reply.
I'll post another call on the recruitment boards. If there's no response by tonight, I'll offer the seat to someone else.
I'll post a link to the slides this afternoon, asking each of you to fill in a little basic admin data and your preferred positions in a couple of standard march orders.
This is a Special, with the usual rapid pace, so I'll ask that everyone check in a couple of times during the day and post as often as possible. I'll be quicker than usual to bot a PC, if we need to advance play. I won't use your PC's limited-use abilities or resources, unless you post bot-me instructions on your PC's profile page.
If your PC has any shenanigans that you need to explain, please let me know here in the discussion thread.
The Eldritch |
If your PC has any shenanigans that you need to explain, please let me know here in the discussion thread.
My Shenanigans:
My familiar is a Cat Sith. It has See Invisibility as a permanent ability.
Gloves of Arcane Striking. Whenever I hit a target with Arcane strike, adjacent targets take my arcane strike damage (2). For all intents and purposes, I will always be arcane striking but I will do my best to remember to write it with every post I make an attack.
That should be it from The Eldritch.
GM Lorenzo |
Eldritch, if Neptune will be acting in social or combat encounters, please create a tagline and a 'character' sheet for it.
Undiana Jones |
Undy & Riddy engage in some shenanigans built around a particular teamwork feat, Elemental Commixture. It's a bit complex so I've written up a summary that you can find here. Let me know if you have any questions.
Alexander Divyr Incostas |
It's not necessarily Shenanigans but Alexander's primary weapon is a Dwarven Chain-flail (dorn-dergar) with appropriate feats and progressions. But you've seen it before Larry.
GM Lorenzo |
Folks, if there are purchases you need to make, please do so now, before we start tomorrow. The adventure begins in medias res, so your opportunity is now.
As food for thought, the scenario's description lets you know you're heading to the 'frozen north,' you'll face a powerful foe in the 'icy Tusk Mountains,' attempt to destroy a 'sinister curse,' then travel to 'Lastwall's tangled Fangwood.'
I'll be ready to make my first post as soon as we all see the Overseer GM's announcement. Let's set and maintain a fast pace. We have to do it as a group, because we can only move as fast as our slowest player.
Make every post count, snappy dialogue, cinematic action, and always include something that advances play. Throw in skill checks that seem appropriate, offer suggestions when a decision needs to be made and make it clear what your PC wants to do.
When a quick decision is needed, we'll go with the 'Rule of Two' in most cases. The first two players to post will set the direction for the party. If it's a critical decision or life-or-death, I'll make sure we get input from everyone.
To keep things moving, I'll post every morning and evening, and more often whenever possible, especially during combat encounters.
GM Lorenzo |
GM requests a favor:
As often as possible, please include hyperlinks to spells, special abilities, and anything else you think the GM and players might not be familiar with.
It's a courtesy that everyone will appreciate, and it enables us to quickly reference rules we need to look up.
The Eldritch |
"I am going to call in a few favors..."
4-19: Wand of Ray of Enfeeblement (16 Charges) 240gp.
5-15: Wand of Lesser Restoration (10 Charges) 900gp.
1140gp Total.
Marked off my Chronicles.
Neptune the Sith Cat |
Eldritch, if Neptune will be acting in social or combat encounters, please create a tagline and a 'character' sheet for it.
Will this be sufficient? :)
GM Lorenzo |
Everyone, please take a moment to verify the info on Slides 1 and 2 is correct, and enter any missing information.
Please place your PC's icon in your preferred positions in the two standard march orders on Slide 1. Don't forget to include your familiars. I made them smaller than the PC icons, so you can place them at the 4 o'clock position of your PC's icon, if they're riding on your shoulder or in your pants or wherever you might stick them (i.e., if they occupy your PC's square).
If your PC has a Day Job, please roll it here in the Discussion thread, then enter the result and gold amount on Slide 2.
Alexander, I need your PFS # in the matrix and your Perception modifier added to preformatted block Slide 2.
Eldritch, I need Neptune's Initiative modifier added to the preformatted block on Slide 2.
Undiana, thanks for providing the guide to your amazing build. I got about halfway through it, and then my brain exploded. ;-) I'll trust you to post the appropriate rolls and mechanical effects, when you and Riddywipple manifest your tandem magnificence. Please provide amazing cinematic descriptions of the phenomena, so we can all enjoy the show. I'm looking forward to it.
I still haven't heard anything from GreySector, so we may have a party of 5 PCs. I've offered to place someone on a waitlist to fill the possible vacancy, but no one's responded so far.
Undiana Jones |
day job (craft sushi): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22
Riddy aid (craft sushi, sous chef): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 20 gp
If I haven’t used my reroll day job (craft sushi), stars: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 21 + 2 = 30 75 gp
Unless stated otherwise, Riddy always stays in the same square as Undy. I wasn’t able to move his icon on the slide due to being on an iPad.
The Eldritch |
Day job Caravan Diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Day job Craft Alchemy 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Could someone please place my icon in the middle for marching order purposes? I’m a phone posted and I have trouble with maps.
Seren's Seven |
Busy day yesterday, but I'm all set now.
Seren is a spirit dancer medium, GM Lorenzo. It basically means she picks a spirit at the start of combat and uses rounds like a bard or barbarian to maintain the benefits. And while dancing she gives off a 30ft aura that gives people her Seance bonus instead of giving it to everyone at the start of the day.
I always post which spirit I'm picking and what the current aura is, and there are descriptions for what each spirit does under spoilers in her profile. I default to her being a champion, though.
The only other major thing of note is she can always act in the surprise round against haunts and damage them, and if I choose she can fail the save against them to let them possess her to keep the haunt from affecting anyone else.
I also placed Riddy and Tessara
And I'll just take 10 on my dayjob roll for a 25 converted to 50 gold.
Valoria Lackland |
I played this character at GenCon, so I may be one level higher (I will confirm tonight when I can look at my paperwork).
If I have my reroll available I will use it to reroll this.
Day Job Caravan Diplomacy (masterwork tool for Day Job): 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 2 = 26
Valoria Lackland |
Valoria is a tiny woman whose angelic heritage is obvious even to the most casual observation. She wears a tabbard bearing the holy symbol of Iomedae, and a well-used but well cared for longsword at her hip. A large wooden shield (also blazoned with Iomedae's symbol) graces her left arm and she has several javelins in easy reach. Shoulder straps hold a tower shield in place along her back. The tower shield is carved to depict a horse rampant.
Valoria inclines her head slightly toward Undiana, Tessara, and Seren.
"A pleasure to see you all again." She pauses for a moment. "And you as well Riddywhipple, my apologies for neglecting you."
As the Eldritch makes his entrance Valoria thinks to herself, So, we're using our made up names?
As Alexander introduces himself she finds herself halfway between a scowl and a smirk, but does her best to suppress both. I'm sure that I shouldn't, but I think that I like him.
She bows slightly to the two Pathfinders with which she is unacquainted.
"I am Valoria Lackland, and by Iomedae's grace I will be your shield from our enemies and your sword against our foes."
Blake's Iconic |
Dennis said there might be a spot available.
If your sixth does not appear, I'd like to reserve on the waiting list with a 7th level pregen (and downgrade the Chronicle to a 1st level chronicle).
Thanks!
GM Lorenzo |
@Valoria: Glad you could join us!
Please add your mount Arazni's Perception and Initiative modifiers to the preformatted text blocks on Slide 2.
If you haven't yet, please also create for Arazni a tagline and a simple character sheet in the profile that indicates additional basic info like gear, abilities, feats, tricks, etc.
Valoria Lackland |
@Valoria: Glad you could join us!
Please add your mount Arazni's Perception and Initiative modifiers to the preformatted text blocks on Slide 2.
Arazni won't need a separate initiative, as I will be riding her 99% of the time (so she will use my initiative), and in the 1% of cases that I am not she'll act on my initiative because she will be summoned from my hosteling shield.
I'm not sure it is important to list her Perception modifier as she has animal intelligence and won't be able to communicate anything she senses, but I will go ahead and list that number for you.
She already has her own profile, linked from this character's profile.
EDIT
For ease of use, Arazni link
GM Lorenzo |
Thanks, Valoria and Undiana, for providing brief explanations and links to more detailed information in your posts. That's a huge help!
GM Lorenzo |
@Eldritch, as posted, the scenario explicitly states the vegetation doesn't provide cover or impede movement, but I'll grant you 20% concealment for hiding behind a tree.
@Tessara, if your flight was vertical, it's a DC20 Fly check. Otherwise you can double-move (at half speed) up to 30ft at a 45 degree angle. Go ahead and make the skill check or adjust your position on the map, if necessary.
The Eldritch |
Well damn. I misread that for 5 whole Solstice Scar Part 3s. Good thing it never ended in a wipe for the parties.
Tessara Omelion PFS |
I will choose the double move half speed option, DM. I just want to be out of their range if they close on us this round.
Valoria Lackland |
Tessara Omelion PFS |
Aw hell, that completely slipped my mind. I’ll remember that from now now! Thanks, Valoria!
GM Lorenzo |
Thanks for the reminder, Valoria.
@Seren, is your Spirit Dance bonus untyped or something else, competence, morale, divine, etc?
Seren's Seven |
It's untyped. The wording in the blurb I put at the bottom of my posts is verbatim to the buff except to include the 30 ft aura since she provides it slightly differently.
The Eldritch |
@GM Lorenzo
I spoilered my attack to take up less space then gave the totals and a quick summary of my Full Round Attack. Would you prefer it a different way?
Valoria Lackland |
Eldritch, you forgot the +2 sacred bonus to attack from Iomedae's Inspiring Sword.
May I suggest that if you drop the ragewight that you walk your fire to the bodak?
GM Lorenzo |
Spoilers are fine, Eldritch, especially if they help minimize the 'wall-of-text' phenomenon.
The Eldritch |
Eldritch, you forgot the +2 sacred bonus to attack from Iomedae's Inspiring Sword.
May I suggest that if you drop the ragewight that you walk your fire to the bodak?
I can do that. The Ragewight was within my full attack point blank range. Also, I Just forgot that bonus was up cause the sites issues were making it hard to just even post.
Valoria Lackland |
I vote Medda.
The Eldritch |
Alright why not? Let's go Medda!
GM Lorenzo |
Okay, Medda it is. (BTW, feel free in future decision-making to have the conversation in-character in the Gameplay thread.)
GM Lorenzo |
Alexander, you can attempt an Influence check in Round 3 in lieu of your posted Round 3 action.
Everyone, Medda's convinced.
No more discovery checks are needed; you already learned all that you could.
Everyone can attempt two more skill checks to Influence the remaining two elders. Each elder will require more successes than it took to convince Medda.
If someone's roll looks like it might be close, you could consider using an Aid Another check. I'll let you know when you succeed, so you won't waste rolls on someone already convinced.
Undiana Jones |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Traveling with family to vacation all day tomorrow and was just in a car accident. We are all ok but shaken up. Will be Sunday or Monday before I can post and will likely be erratic for the next week.
GM Lorenzo |
I just realized the site's back up. At Dragonflight this weekend. I'll get us up and running soon. Please check in as often as you can folks.
