Lian Brook |
Lian casts another Black Tentacles behind the first one, to extend the coverage and catch more demons climbing the ramp, while the first continues to lash out and grab at any others that approach it's reach.
Tentacle Grab vs every demon in a 20-ft radius of the summon point: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Damage to all this round can't beat that: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
And the continuing effects of the last tentacle (they each have an 8 round duration):
Tentacle Grab vs every demon in a 20-ft radius of the summon point: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Damage to all this round can't beat that: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
GM Choon |
As Ametist plays with his new friend the vines and tentacles do a very effective job of tearing any minor demons to bits and Zorakir's enhancement takes care of the ones left standing before the wall which, thanks to Karen, is now a lot taller than it used to be!
Drystan's divine fire melts part of the worm's stony hide which prevents it from chasing Ametist immediately, but the worm seems very focused on its escaping lunch!
The worm tries to crush the earth-bending goblin, bringing its full weight down in a thunderous CRASH!
Everyone, Acrobatics DC 15 or fall prone.
Ametist, Reflex save or take bludgeoning: 10d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 3, 4, 3, 6, 2, 4, 5) + 10 = 53. No half damage effects on this one. You either dodge it or you don't.
From beyond the walls you hear a mighty roar and the rush of wings! A huge demon clears the wall in a single bound! It's head is wreathed in a crown of swirling green mist and its eyes burn white.
If you want something done right... it mutters.
The hellknights lock shields and shout an infernal battle cry as one!
Godwyn Blaecwulf |
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Godwyn stood his ground. Seeing the demon land, he vanished in a flash of light, appearing directly in front of it. His halberd flowed with holy light as he channeled his fury into it, willing himself into being a conduit for the wrath of his gods.
Smite Evil Hit: 1d20 + 15 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 6 = 33
Damage: 1d10 + 19 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 19 + 8 = 36
Sir Drystan Goldenflame |
Edit: Whoops. Almost forgot the Acrobatics save. Let the bodies hit the floor!
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (9) - 4 = 5
Drystan crashes to the ground in a clatter of heavy armor. Getting back to his feet, he studies this new demon.
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 2 = 20 Swift Action to activate Fiendish Studies
Zorakir |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Zorakir knees buckle under the shifting ground caused by the worm. He quickly gets off the ground and onto his feet despite reprisal from the demonic hordes maw or claw. He glances over at the huge demon and the worm respectively, unsure of which to address. He begins to cast a slient spell, creating a maglinant burst of rot at the base of the worm, ensuring Ametist is out of the radius.
Explosion of rot: 8d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 4, 1, 2, 5, 3) = 271d4 ⇒ 3
DC21 reflex for half damage and to avoid the staggering. Also is the demon grounded or still aloft?
Ametist |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Ref save: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Ametist focuses on evading the giant worm, trusting his friends to be able to take him down or trusting himself to be able to kite it while they take down the demon overlord. Hopefully. Using chunks of earth, he jumps, flies and dodges as a speck of dust blown by the wind.
Full defense
Zorakir |
hmm, this ability might help.Stronger than you: Whenever the Godbound is in an opposed Strength check or contest against another creature or opposing it in a grapple or other exercise of strength, the Godbound always wins. If two Godbound with this

GM Choon |
1d20 ⇒ 1
The rot effects the worm like nothing else so far as. It groans and sways as it struggles with the infection. It starts to withdraw into the ground!
The demon isn't so foolish as to charge a set polearm. Instead he points at the clearly prepared Godwyn and utters a word of power so utterly profane that reality warps around him!
Will DC 25, please. If you fail, you are dazed (unable to act) for one round and take str damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6. If you succeed, you are not dazed and take half of that Str damage.
Zorakir, That could come in handy, yes.
Lian Brook |
Flickering her tails, Lian mumbles to herself, I bet you're the weaker-willed of our two threats..., focuses her kitsunate to cast the Worm into confusion, as well as any other demons caught too close.
Will save: DC 28
Zorakir |
With the worm receding, Zorakir rushed to join the crusaders in battle. Once at their side, he mutters a silent spell.
Evolution Surge
He whinced as his thorn covered vines erupted from his back along with dragonfly wings. His vines moved independently as if they had a will of their own. They point towards the direction of the massive demonic foe, ready to desanguination the outer being.
Used Evolution to gain 4 temporary evolution points, burned those for grab and flight. Also no more 4th level spells.
Focused on the demonic foe, he mutters to his allies."Bring it closer and I'll show you what I can do to it." He maintained his battle stance, scimitar held firmly in both hands.
*Karen* |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Karen manages to keep her feet as the massive worm crashes into Ametist. She also notices the arrival of what can only be a demon lord.
Karen moves into position to support those fighting the demon lord, and watches as enemies around her just melt.

GM Choon |
Godwyn engages and gets a blow in, then is smacked across the soul with a word so profane that he stops seeing the world for what it is for a moment and feels the divine strength that powers his might seep from him like thick sweat!
Godwyn is dazed for this round and has taken 6 str damage.
The demon lord manifests a vicious looking spear from nowhere and attacks Godwyn. Thankfully the Crusader still has enough wits about him to defend himself!
3d20 ⇒ (8, 7, 8) = 23
piercing and 1 bleed/round until healed: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

*Karen* |
Karen will move up and expend some of her new energy to clear Godwyn's ability damage.

Godwyn Blaecwulf |
Godwyn felt the strength drain from him. His arms felt heavy, his halberd and shield like rocks. Again and again the spear shot out at him, forcing him back as he blocked and parried. But, fortune smiled upon him, for he did not fight alone. Karen counteracted the baleful magic, restoring strength to his limbs. He raised his halberd and...

Ametist |

Ametist successfully baits the worm, but forgets the most important part of fighting a bull: getting out of the way. The worm slams into him with pulverizing force and razor sharp teeth!
Sir Drystan Goldenflame |
Seeing that the demon has no interest in coming down, he smiles, and murmurs under his breath "Have it your way then, fiend." Five burning wings the burst from Drystan's back, and he rises to meet the demon in the air.
Swift Action to manifest wings*, then move up and attack.

*Shield of Wings (Su): At 1st level, a crimson templar gains fire resistance 5. This increases to fire resistance 10 at 3rd level, increases to fire resistance 30 at 6th level, and becomes immunity to fire at 9th level. As a swift action, a crimson templar can manifest a set of five burning wings from his back to gain a fly speed of 40 feet (average maneuverability) for a number of minutes equal to his crimson templar level. He can dismiss these wings as a move action, but any remaining duration is lost. While the crimson templar has these wings, and for a number of minutes equal to the number of minutes the crimson templar had wings after the duration ends or the wings are dismissed, the crimson templar does not have the fire resistance or immunity granted by shield of wings.
Zorakir |
Now witnessed to the flying crusader, Zorakir takes to the air as well with his own wings. As he ascends, he quickly places his scimitar back in its sheath. Once within reach of the demon, he lashes at the outsider with one of his thorned vines, opening himself to reprisal.
Move action to fly up and standard to attack.

GM Choon |
The fight with the demon lord is going well, even if Ametist is doing his best to get eaten. The paladins drive into the fiend and score two massive hits. The devil staggers, draws strength, and exhales a cloud of sick, green gas all around him. It stings and burns on the skin and your eyes reflexively want to close to avoid it! After only a few seconds the fog suddenly becomes thick and viscous making any movement difficult!
You are now in a supernatural acid fog. DC 25 fort save to overcome the pain and keep your eyes open. If you fail you are blinded as your eyes close on reflex.
All of you in the fog take acid damage: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 5, 5) = 26
Creatures have concealment from one another at 5' apart and total concealment at 10'. Creatures moving through this fog move at half their normal speed and take a –2 penalty on all melee attack and melee damage rolls. The vapors prevent effective ranged weapon attacks (except for magic rays and the like). A creature cannot take a 5-foot-step while in the fog.

The sudden wave of acid engulfed the paladin. Fighting through the pain, Godwyn held his ground, swinging wildly at the demon to keep it at bay. Long enough...for him to put a hand to his eyes. Immediately the golden glow returned to him, healing him of all the damage done to him. If not for his battle worn armor, one would never have known that he had fought in battle. Reguvinated, He steeled himself so that he might continue against this foe.
Sir Drystan Goldenflame |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
"Neat trick, but it won't save you, fiend! By Ragathiel's power, I will strike you down!" Without further ado, Drystan suits action to words, his bastard sword flashing with sickly highlights from the fog-filtered light.
Swift Action to activate Smite Evil. That gives me a +4 Deflection bonus vs the Demon Lord, bringing my AC up to 27 against him. +4 to attack, +10 to damage (double on the first hit. Smite bypasses all DR. Full attack. One more thing: I have the Big Game Hunter feat, so add +1 to attack and +2 to damage if the opponent is large or larger. So many dang situational bonuses I keep forgetting them.

Lian Brook |
Feeling a bit outclasses damage-wise, Lian decides that adding to her allies' defense is the best move, and casts her second displacement on Blaecwulf, so that he'll share the level of protection she already added to Goldenflame and hopefully avoid the nasty weapon of the Demon boss.
GM Choon |
Loc adds another layer of defense on top of the Hellknight's formidable shield wall and essectially secures the ground war with his undead! There is a murmur from the troops and a couple of Loc's creations get cut down on reflex when the pop up just a little too close to the line, but overall it allows the line the breathing room they need to be really effective.
Lian buffs Godwyn and Karen removes herself from the fog cloud as the two paladins go to town on the demon lord! Drystan's first attack is parried, but the second drives home. Godwyn has a rougher time, especially with all that acid gas getting in the way. His attacks miss!
The demon concentrates on his closer foe and engages Drystan!
3d20 ⇒ (6, 6, 8) = 20

Seeing as how a 90 missed from concealment, I'm assuming high is bad. And concealment is a 20% miss chance, so the first attack likely hit.
HP was at 99/100. Heals up to full health
With the demon turning to engage his brother in arms, Godwyn saw his opening and struck out. His halberd struck the demon square in the back, hitting with enough force to immediately cut down a raging orc berserker. He didn't think that it would be enough to stop the creature, but he hoped that it would be enough to give Sir Drystan an opening for a killing blow.
Sir Drystan Goldenflame |
Lay on Hands: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6) = 12
Quickly healing some of the acid damage, Drystan attacks the demon lord again. How big is this demon lord? Big Game Hunter gives me +1 to Attack and +2 to damage if he's large or bigger, but I don't know if I should be applying it.

Realizing she can't fly, Karen will move to a point where she can channel to heal both Drystan and Godwyn, but not the Demon lord.
Channel Energy if she can this round: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6) = 14
Ametist |
Ametist stands up, recovering from the massive hit, while trying to quick think about the worm. Nothing he can do seems to penetrate that think skin, so the only think that comes to mind is to keep it away from his teammates while they fight the Demon Lord.
"Hey! Any idea about what to do with Mr Glo Worm here would be welcome!"
GM Choon |
1d4 ⇒ 4
1d20 ⇒ 3
The confusion spell still seems to be affecting the worm. It convulses and thrashes before lashing out at Ametist again but missing badly.
The demon, meanwhile, manages to only take one stab (Drystan's first) of the four leveled at him due to the fog. Nevertheless, he sneers at the paladins and holds his numerous wounds. Karen's channel washes over the two battle brothers.
You haven't seen the last of me! he vows and disappears in a coloumn of flame! This would be fine and dandy if the poison gas didn't also get in on the action and explode!
A visile pressure wave rushes across the battlefield at a speed far too high to be dodged! It carries corpses, discarded weapons, and bits of debris with it as it tears into everything nearby!
Demon defeated, but the Paladins and Karen take 20d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 5, 4, 1, 6, 5, 5, 5, 3, 6, 6, 1, 1, 4, 1, 2, 6, 2) = 68 from a massive detonation.
Everyone is knocked prone. Even the worm.
When the smoke clears most of the corpse-filled castle yard is a crater and there is significant damage to the wall you were fighting near. Every last hellknight is on their rump at best and severely wounded at worst. The worm is laying flat across one of the dividing walls you were trying to protect. The three story wall is half collapsed and you hear the cries of wounded.
The worm twitches...
Finish it!
Godwyn Blaecwulf |
Lay on Hands: 4d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 4) + 10 = 25

68 damage taken. 44 damage healed. 76/100HP
Groaning, Godwyn pulled himself to his feet. He was bruised, battered, and half of his face had been burnt off. His once handsome features marred and ruined. Touching a hand to his face, a soft glow began to form. It increased in intensity until the light had covered not only himself, but every mortal within twenty feet. When the light faded, the worst of his wounds were gone, and those that were left were quickly healing as well.
Sir Drystan Goldenflame |
Blasted to he ground, Drystan slowly levers himself back to his feet. It feels like burns and bruises cover him head to toe, an that's probably not the worst of it. He slips a gauntleted hand beneath his helmet and touches his jaw, discharging holy power to begin to heal his flesh.
Lay on Hands: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) = 13 Karen's channel had put me back up to full HP. 110-68=42+13=55/110
Seeing the worm begin to stir, he moves to where it lays. Is it helpless? If so, I've got a class feature as a Crimson Templar that will let me coup-de-grace it as a standard action. That's 84 damage, so it'd need to pass a DC 94 Fort save. I'll roll a standard attack, just in case.

Loc will lower down towards the worm before extending two fingers and firing two Scorching Rays into the creatures head.

Zorakir |
Sorry for my slight absence. This action was suppose to take place before it when boom.
Fort save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
The burst of fog doesn't hinder Zorakir sight nor does the acid burn his flesh. He takes a moment and concentrates on his newfound powers. A sweet smelling pheromone bursts from his flesh and vines, the spores carry themselves to ever comrade of his in the room, coating their skin.
Elemental Scorn: Pick heat, cold, lightning, or some other form of energy. You have an invincible defense against it in all its forms. As an On Turn action, you can Commit Effort to extend this defense to every ally within a hundred yards. You may take this gift more than once to gain immunity to other elements; a single Commitment can extend all your defenses. I'm gonna be oprah today, no fire damage for everyone in this room!
Ametist |
And once he's on his feet, he's knocked down again.
"What the..."
Rubble, debris and poisonous has cover the area, Hellknights and demons alike wounded and killed. Noticing the exposed wurm, Ametist channels a blast of molten metal from deep beneath the earth.
Gather Power as a full round action.
*Karen* |
As before, Karen dusts herself off then sets about repairing the wall, this time remaking it as it was before. I know that this will probably take several rounds, since I only effect a 20'x20' area.
GM Choon |
As Karen repairs the wall three lances of light, two magical fire and one of molten metal, cut into the worm's hide. Their combined heat is enough to crack it's carapace and Drystan takes the opportunity! He blinks into position and drives his sword deep!
1d20 ⇒ 16
The worm twitches once, and is still.
Combat complete!
Ametist |
"Oh, well..."
Ametist withdraws his stance and the molten metal filters back through the earth. He walks to the others with a very obvious wounded leg.
"Everyone alright?"
Godwyn Blaecwulf |
So long as Zorakir got off his ability, we would all be at full HP due to the explosion doing no damage.
Godwyn walked back towards the group, swinging lazily at any lesser demons that managed to get in his way. His very presence seemed to be disrupt their hold on reality.
