Bolys Quinn |

Bolys suddenly realized they hadn't figured out a trigger warning to spring the attack. Well, I'll fire an arrow and hopefully everyone else will catch on.
Drawing the arrow back, he let loose a shot at the man who was talking.
Longbow Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d8 ⇒ 7
Concealment from Rain: 1d100 ⇒ 4
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Derren Orlovsky |

Here's the MAP!
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
From his position behind the guest house, Derren can hardly make out Bolys's shot in the rain. When he finally sees it, he dashes down the alley between the guest house and the trading post's wall, sword in hand, and closes with the bandits.
Derren will try to catch his opponent's blade on his, deflecting it and at the same time ducking under the bandit's guard and delivering a slash at its neck.
Burning a Panache Point if attacked to Opportune Parry and Riposte. 2/3 Panache remaining.
Opportune Parry and Riposte: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
If successful
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Confirm Critical?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage?: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Critical Damage?: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Opportune Parry and Riposte (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point and expend a use of an attack of opportunity to attempt to parry that attack. The swashbuckler makes an attack roll as if she were making an attack of opportunity; for each size category the attacking creature is larger than the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler takes a –2 penalty on this roll. If her result is greater than the attacking creature's result, the creature's attack automatically misses. The swashbuckler must declare the use of this ability after the creature's attack is announced, but before its attack roll is made. Upon performing a successful parry and if she has at least 1 panache point, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action make an attack against the creature whose attack she parried, provided that creature is within her reach.

Carina Sinicka |

Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 vs DC 6? (-10 base DC for sounds of battle, +10 for through a wall, +4 for 40' distance, +2 for unfavorable conditions)
Carina thinks she might hear the sounds of battle, and definitely hears angry shouting, so she summons a Celestial Viper and commands it to go sneak up on the angry man who is yelling and bite him, while she herself remains inside the stable for the moment.
Viper's Stealth check: 1d20 + 15 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 15 - 5 = 22

Pyotr Nikol Tovanya |

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Hearing Devon dash forward and a twang from a bow, as well as spotting Carina summon her snake, Pyotr dashes forward towards the closest bandit.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage if a hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Cyrioul Fasar |

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Surprise Round
Cyrioul steps around the corner of the barn door, turns his crossbow towards the bandit directly south of his position, and fires.
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Crossbow Concealment Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 1
Crossbow Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Cyrioul stays out of the way of the bandits, and chants, "Abadar's blessing be upon us!"
Casts bless.

Derren Orlovsky |

Assuming everything will be sorted out after the round is over.
Stepping around his man to try to get between him and the gate, Derren slashes at his opponent. As soon as the slash is finished, his sword returns to a defensive position in front of him.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage?: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Five-foot step and an attack. If the bandit attacks me, I have a response. If he tries to retreat, the same rolls are an attack of opportunity.
If he attacks me:
Opportune Parry and Riposte: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
If it blocks it:
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage?: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Opportune Parry and Riposte (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point and expend a use of an attack of opportunity to attempt to parry that attack. Carina Sinicka |

Celestial Viper's Stealth check: 1d20 + 15 - 5 ⇒ (18) + 15 - 5 = 28 (Attempting to use Stealth to maintain concealment until attacking, so as not to provoke an AoO when entering the bandit's square.)
Celestial Viper's Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Celestial Viper's damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1 => 1 point of nonlethal damage plus poison (DC 9 Fort Save, 1/round for 6 rounds, cure: 1 save)
Con damage?: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The celestial viper that Carina summoned slithers stealthily under the wagon to attempt to bite the angry man with the bow, while Carina herself steps out of the stables into the rain and casts a sleep (DC 15 Will save) spell on the man with the bow and the bandit standing near him.

Cyrioul Fasar |

Just to reconfirm...
Cyrioul stays out of the way of the bandits, and chants, "Abadar's blessing be upon us!"
Casts bless.

Bolys Quinn |

As the bowman's arrow whizzes by him, Bolys considers the rain and its effect on accuracy, then tries one more time with his bow.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 261d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Critical confirmation & Damage: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 152d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 4 = 12
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 7
Bolys grimaces as his arrow again misses the target, and looks at his distance to the ground, wondering if he could jump it to join the fray.
Bolys grins as his arrow hits its mark, and draws another to continue the exchange.
If the bowman isn't human, subtract 2 from the attack rolls and damage rolls.

GM Calvus |

fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Bolys You hit and its a Critical.
So here is what I think happened. Bolys, with his great judge fired, and the Arrow went through the bowmans through, and out the other end. The arrow is on the ground next to his corpse. Great hit.76+ on the roll means you miss. the circle is his dead body.
Darren between your attack and your Riposte, another one dies.

GM Calvus |

Pytor cuts into a bandit but does not drop him.
Darrens attack and riposte kills one of then men, and Boly kills the bowman in a single shot.
Cyriol blesses the party, and you all feel some kind of warmth.
The viper does not hurt the man it intended to.

Cyrioul Fasar |

Cyrioul raises his crossbow, and lets fly a bolt at the bandit directly south of his position.
Blessed Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 3
Potential Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Carina Sinicka |

Cyrioul raises his crossbow, and lets fly a bolt at the bandit directly south of his position.
That's the one who just fell asleep! We should take him prisoner rather than kill him!

Cyrioul Fasar |

Nope, my bad on not seeing which one was which, and he wouldn't attack a helpless person. Can I 5' step NE and take the same shot against Pyotr's opponent?

Cyrioul Fasar |

Er, sorry, should have asked about using the same results vs. different target. If not, I've re-rolled below.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 92
Potential Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Carina Sinicka |

Carina draws her dagger and goes over to make sure that when the guy she put to sleep wakes up, he doesn't try to run. Once her dagger is pressed against his neck, allowing her to slit it should he try to struggle, she yells over the rain, "Someone get some rope to tie this one up for questioning! And let the Levetons know it's all over."

Derren Orlovsky |

Derren looks at the man who's throat he cut out, his face growing pale. After a moment, he smiles, cleans his blade on the bandit's clothes, and steps over to the group.
"Well, I'd say that went well, all things considered. Pyotr, how'd you fare against your man. Mine never had a chance. Bolys, that was an excellent shot. Is that a survivor? Must be, he's snoring like I've never heard. Well, actually, there was that one tavern-girl..."

·Sorry· |

It all happened to fast. In an instant, all the bandits were dead, or sleeping, and just a good; Sorry did not need to do anything.
After Carina calls out for someone to tie the man, she opens her bag, removing a rope, and proceeds into tying up the sleeping bandit. He would have a lot to answer for.

Carina Sinicka |

With Sorry tying up the bandit, Carina's adrenaline rush abates and she has the presence of mind to order the viper she summoned to go hide somewhere out of the way until it returns to the celestial realm from whence it came. Standing up on wobbly feet, she throws the dagger away from herself and stumbles over to one of the benches to take a seat. "I've never... I..." She starts taking long, deep breaths and tries to center herself as the rain keeps pouring down on her, "I think it might be best if you all deal with the prisoner. I'll go talk to the Levetons and... and help with um... uh..."
She gets back to her feet and heads to the door, "O-oleg? Svetlana? They're dead. The bandits. Could I trouble you for some more wine?"

Cyrioul Fasar |

Cyrioul calls upon Abadar to make his holy symbol shine with the light of a torch, then walks over to Carina and puts a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Come, come, best to get out of the rain, Miss Carina. Justice 'tis not always an easy thing to mete out."

Carina Sinicka |

Carina accepts the flask offered by Derren and drinks rather deeply, tilting her head back as she does, then hands it back before hugging herself, "I knew um, conceptually what I might have to do out here, but I've never actually, I mean, I watched my dad carry out plenty of executions of criminals when I was little, but that's quite different, you know?" She shakes her head and sighs, looking not at all happy about Oleg's reaction, "He might deserve to die, maybe, but everyone should have a chance at redemption. Even lowlife ruffians who would threaten unspeakable things. I just... would rather not be the one to give him that choice. Does that make me a bad person? A hypocrite?"

Bolys Quinn |

"Well, looks like your awake. Here's the deal. We're gonna ask you a few questions, you're gonna answer 'em, and if we like your answers, I might not cut your head off with my axe. Now, you, me, and one or two of my friends are gonna go chat in the storage shed, cause I don't feel like gettin' wet talking to you. If you don't like that, well, you don't got much choice. You ain't the first bandit I killed, and afore I'm done, you won't be the last."
Bolys starts dragging him towards the storage shed, asking, "Anyone else wanna come chat with him?"

Cyrioul Fasar |

Cyrioul follows. "I will observe, so that justice is properly served," he pontificates.

Derren Orlovsky |

"I've done my work for the day, I think. If you need my help, I'll be about." Derren accepts the flask, finishing what's in it before sliding it back into its pouch. "Miss Sinicka, I seem to have run out of wine yet again." He throws an arm around her shoulder and continues. "How is it different, what your dad did and what we did here? Both he and we are within our rights. And as for the live one, I'm sure Bolys will get what we need out of him, and the Vaultsman will do what's right. Can always count on Abadar for that, at least.
As for us, let's get you out of this rain. The first fight's the hardest, and it's best to recover in comfort." With his arm still around her shoulder, Derren gestures to the bunkhouse, half-bowing. "You first, Miss."

·Sorry· |

Sorry watched rather amused Derren and Carina after their first real fight, and that she finds funny. Drinking after their first kill, as if it would make easier. There’s life, there’s death, those that kill, and those that are killed, and they had better learn fast which side they stand in.
Then it was time to get information from their prisoner, and once more, they did not failed to amuse her. What were they thinking? This was going to be a messy business.
”I’ve watched plenty of interrogation at the army. I could try and to the same. But I’ve never done it myself.” she lies.

Pyotr Nikol Tovanya |

Catching up, sorry for absence.
With the fight over, Pyotr cleans his blade quickly and looks about. None of his allies were hurt, or at least not enough to warrant much need for concern.
"I did fine enough, Derren. Could have gone better though..." At the mention of the tavern girl though he tenses, memories floating up. "The Stoat..."
Pushing them back down, he joins the others as they begin to crowd around the formerly sleeping bandit. "It is our duty to put these men to the sword or rope. He has already proven himself a coward and a bandit. As for his punishment? I am no judge nor philosopher. I will. however, carry out the execution if you all feel it necessary." It was a grim task, but one that, sadly, probably had to be done.

·Sorry· |

Sorry gives a level stare in Pyotr’s direction. It was bad enough they had to deal with the ruffian in this way, worse with him saying his intention to kill the man whether he cooperates or not, but she says nothing. It was not yet time to deal her carts, nor to make the others aware for what she could do.

Bolys Quinn |

"If you wish to assist in the interrogation, Pyotr, come along. Otherwise, perhaps you could gather up these bandits' gear. Miss Sorry, Father Cyrioul, perhaps we shall see what we can get out of him." With that, Bolys drags the bandit into the storage shed and waits for the others.

Cyrioul Fasar |

Cyrioul steps into the shed and murmurs a prayer to Abadar, then touches the wall of the shed. The outline of a large key appears and sheds light throughout the shed. He turns to his companions, and, pulling forth a small prayer book, opens it to a marked page and prays, "Lord Abadar, Master of the First Vault, Judge of the Gods, it is right that three of us stand as tribunal over this life. Give us your guidance to judge the fate of this man rightly according to his crimes. Show us all the truth of your justice, for the good of the land." He closes the book, and lays a hand on Bolys and Sorry's shoulders, then touches his own forehead. When finished, he gestures for Bolys to lead the proceeding.
Casting the cantrip guidance on each of us.

Bolys Quinn |

Bolys takes his axe out from its loop on his belt, and casually holds it in his right hand.
"Now, bandit, I will lay this out simply. We are chartered to explore this land and execute those engaged in unrepentant banditry. Refusal to answer our questions will result in us decidin' you are unable to be reformed, and you will be executed by the noose. It is a slow, painful death, as we will simply string you up on a tree rather than waste time building a gallows. If you answer our questions truthfully, and we are satisfied with your answers, you will at the very least be granted a quick death. If you are truly repentant, then your life may even be spared. Now, tell me, what is your name?"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
There is probably someone better suited to asking questions, with an actual Charisma modifier and maybe ranks in Intimidate.

·Sorry· |

Sorry lets Bolys and Cyrioul steps forward to do the questioning, but even before they began, she knew it would be a futile effort. They just did not strike as the mean type required for this kind of job. Nevertheless, all was well, with both grown-ups busy questioning the man, slowing and deliberated she pulled her dagger, staring with her dead flat eyes directly into the prisoner eyes. Without breaking eye contact or blinking, she quickly and silently promised him unthinkable horrors, if he failed to answer Bolys questions.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23

Carina Sinicka |

Carina nods weakly as she listens to Derren, and allows him to guide her over toward the bunkhouse, suddenly wondering if there will be enough beds for everyone. The interior of the building is dark, and she chews her lower lip for a long moment before deciding to pull off her hat, allowing her fiery hair to dance freely, casting as much light into the interior of the building as any lantern. "I know we did the right thing. They made their choice, and now they have paid dearly for it. But we have made a choice as well, and standing on the side of law places us in opposition to many more than just this one little band of ruffians. I hope we are equal to the task ahead of us."
Closing her eyes, she brings her hands together and focuses on a simple cantrip, chanting an invocation and then using the simple arcane power to dry away the water soaking her clothing, and even the mud clinging to her boots, and finally the mud tracked into the building, almost as an afterthought. Looking around, she then focuses the power on cleaning away dust and cobwebs until the room is quite clean. "There, much better."

Cyrioul Fasar |

Cyrioul watches the proceedings neutrally, observing the man's responses to both Bolys' attempt at drawing out information, and the unnerving presence of the dead-eyed young woman.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25
