OK, don't know how many of you folks have read the players guide, but you're a bunch of meaningless lowbies at a festival in Kenabres which is a city on the border of the Worldwound.

There's a big festival there once a year, and you are all eager beavers attending the festival with no idea that the shoe is going to drop.

Given that it is a city near the Worldwound, it is a reasonable assumption that you have all your gear on you. In this particular town, things can go to hell (well the Abyss) at any time.

Oh, and fair warning, this module can be very railroady at times, and you are now embarking from the station.

In theory I'm supposed to do introductions before dumping on you, but I figure we might as well get right to the action. It's not like we're here to do anything but be murder hobos (but righteous murder hobos who want to save the world) anyway.


For those not familiar with my GMing style, I have players roll their own initiative as a way of checking in so I know everyone is present for a combat.

Also, on the post per day subject, I am a real stickler for this unless you warn me that you will be away. You get one free pass, then I will look to rub out your character and replace them. This is not done because I'm an evil bastard (well not mostly), but rather because if a PBP game doesn't keep moving, it dies. I've seen this AP die too many times, and I won't let this one die.

I completely agree.


One other thing to note, I pretty much do group initiative, as in Group that beat monster's init, and group did not beat monster's init. Rather moot this combat.

I tend to group all monsters together for simplicity (and likely cheat by using their best bonus).

I've been thinking about Marcus, his style and whatnot and I may end getting the full Grappling chain.

This has lead me to a question that the Core Rulebook couldn't -or didn't want, the cheeky bastard- answer: how does Grapple and manacles combine?

I mean, can you use grapple to shackle a pinned target? And what if I use manacles to shackle a guy.... to myself? What would be the modifiers/conditions/and whatnot.


Once they are pinned, they can be shackled.

Now as for shackling them to you, I'm not sure how that would be treated, I suppose it means they are stuck within 5' and can only use 1 handed weapons.

I will freely admit that I should have dropped my greataxe and pulled a dagger to use somewhere in the Mamushka-fest.

I could have just stabbed it to death instead of breaking grapple each turn.

At some point during a showdown with a BBEG, I will recall regretfully wasting that critical on a dark mantle at level 1.

I'm of the opinion that if you want and can use a potion/scroll that you just say so and take it off the sheet.

Same thing really for non-magic gear. We keep anything valuable or potentially useful (which is just about everything right now) until someone wants to claim it.

We should keep track of more expensive/permanent items as we go so that we can keep up with some sort of equitable distribution.

Thoughts?

Aside: I vote that whoever has the worst saves takes that cloak of resistance.


Actually it is likely I will just some some measure of my usual WBL trick so tracking stuff will be fairly moot (though useful for expendables between levels and such)

I suggest that to keep things moving at a swifter pace, drbuzzard rolls all our initiatives at once, and we abide by those rolls.

I've suggested this myself, but DrBuzzard advised he likes it that way as it is a check for who is paying attention to the game.


Yes, I have mentioned it before because people love to suggest that in every game I run. It does no good to roll initiative just to hang waiting for someone to act.


It is particularly odd that one has time to comment on how I run initiative without actually rolling it.


So you know, I am banning Ancestral Scorn, the feat. I just saw it in action in PFS and it is broken as hell.

I didn't even know it existed.. but that and Cornugon smash and hurtful.. yup broken..


The guy at my table had optimized his intimidate (11th level character) to be +34. He could auto lockdown things with no trouble at all.

There is a website bug that is not showing new posts. They are working on it. I don't think it will be fixed until tomorrow. They have a fix but didn't want to launch it right before going home.
