A horrid voice sounds from the middle of the room. The baron...will not be pleased....no...matter...come children!"

There is a rustling of feet being dragged along ground strewn with leaves and other detritus, and dark figures loom out from the night...

"Oh, this can't be good."

Finnian moves quickly to the first advancing spawn and lays into it.

Bubo quickly drinks the elixir, swishing it in his mouth before spitting it back into its flask as his previous extract takes effect. He then moves closer to his party. "Don't get separated!"

Drinking the elixir then moving to I-5.

Leena casts Shield and moves to join Finnian.

Kit'Arr smells, more than hears, the creature move next to her. The stench of the grave assaults her nostrils just as a terrifying whisper sounds in her ear.

"Now you...will join them... my pet." The creature appears behind her, clawing at her face. It is only her extraordinary senses that save her as she ducks just in time to avoid the attack.

Kit, then spawn.

"Oi! Found him! Stinky isn't it?!"

She calls out as she retaliates with her claws

Attack 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Damage 1: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage 2: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5


Kit's claws tear a bit dead flesh from the creature, causing it to groan. The sound is echoed from all of the smaller creatures in the ruins.

It is easy to see now that they are - or were - young in life before they became...changed. Children, or at least teens, the monstrosities shamble forward to grab and tear at you.

Once again, Finnian manages to deflect a swipe with his rapier, while Leena is saved only by the translucent power of her Shield spell. The rest of the creatures close in...

Next Round: Group A, then creature, Kit, spawn

Bubo places the elixir back into his haversack before his hands busy themselves with creating another bomb, quickly throwing it at the spawn on the side he's protecting.

Bomb (ranged touch): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage (fire): 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3) + 5 = 13 splash damage 7, DC 17 Reflex halves

He takes another step back, staying close to the party.

Standard action to throw bomb at the spawn on I-9 with splash affecting J-8. Move action to place elixir back in my haversack, and 5-foot step to H-4.

I think that's a miss. GM, if it is, you or I can roll misdirection to your preference.

Leena steps up to the Wight and put all her focus into casting without creating an opening.

Leena's sword emits sparks as she slashes at the Wight
Spell Strike Shocking Grasp: 1d20 + 12 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 12 - 5 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 9 + 4d6 ⇒ (6) + 9 + (6, 1, 6, 1) = 29

Leena does not relent and follows the first strike with another

If The wight goes down with the first strike Lena will turn around and attack the wight behind her.

Concentration +4 from combat caster, + 4 from caster levels, + 4 from int, + 3 from int again using spell combat and taking the penalty to hit, + 1 from Arcane Temper.


The bomb scorches two of the spawn, mixing the smell of burnt flesh and undead rot.

Finnian jabs at one, dancing away after dealing a vicious hit.

Leena's attack causes the spawn in front of her to jerk spasmodically as electricity arcs through it. Then it collapses, dead. Her follow up hit on the wight does severe damage, quite enough to anger it.

'Nooooooooo.......' it screams. It snarls at Leena and strikes, its claws raking her face. 2 hp damage and a Will save Leena. As it tears those claws away from the magus' face, tiny gossamer thread-like wisps of her soul stretch to the wight's hands...

It doesn't matter in this case, Kit, but where are the 2d8 for your damage coming from?

The wight clenches its fists, the tendrils of Leena's being swirling about them. It raises its arms up, and drinks in the essence as the shimmering threads of soulstuff pour over its face. -1 negative level, Leena

Kit'Arr tears into the wight, ripping the undead creature to the bone. It screams in agony, falling to the ground in a heap.

Will get the spawn turn posted later today / early tomorrow.

Her sneak attacks are d8s because of her vicious claws ability. Also, you don't get an initial save vs a wight's energy drain. The save comes 24 hours later to prevent it from becoming a permanent negative level. And yes, I am quite scared as two hits auto kill me :)

I understand the 'next day' roll, but that doesn't work well in this format. Better to pass/fail now. In fact, it gives the PC two chances to avoid the effects becoming permanent, as it were. I suppose I am unconsciously using our RL house rule, but I'd rather give you a save than not.

No prob, GM, was just making the reference. I'm cool with whatever way you run things :)


The remaining 'children' shuffle forward, intent on tearing you limb from limb. Leena manages to whirl and parry the attack on her. Kit ducks and spins , avoiding the two spawn assailing her. Bubo's spawn misses horribly, stumbling as it swings.

The final one's eyes glow with cold fire as it rakes Finnian, drawing blood, and more...2 hp dmg and a Will save Fin 'Miiiinnne...' it rasps in a high-pitched voice as it tears shreds of Finnian's soul from his body.

Leena grips her sword with both handand takes a swing at the wight right in front of her. Leena backs away quickly and releasing her left hand from and with a quick gesture unleashes two missiles.

Bubo, trapped in a circle of spawn despite his party around him, gives up an opening to concoct another bomb, throwing it with a spin at the spawn to his right.

Provoke an AoO from the spawn at I-5, bomb H-6 with splash affecting the group around except the square Kit is in.

Bomb (ranged touch): 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 4 = 10 -4 from firing into melee
Damage (fire): 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 4) + 5 = 14 splash damage 7, DC 17 Reflex halves

Well, that's not good. I'll leave misdirection to you but I can't choose squares to avoid splash damage on a miss.


Finnian kills his spawn with another deft thrust through the abdomen. Nearby, Leena continues her onslaught by destroying the spawn in front of her.

Bubo's throw is sent errant as he ducks a swing by the nearest undead. Fortune smiles upon him though, as the bomb falls between the the wights next to him, showering them with fire.

The remaining two wight-spawn scratch frantically at Bubo and Kit'Arr, to no effect.

You are left standing in the ruins, a chill wind blowing across the hilltop. You notice all of the spawn are, or were, young people generally in their teens. One stands out in particular, a girl, maybe sixteen, who looks every bit the noble despite her efforts to 'dress down'. Her father, the Baron, will want her body returned...

Bubo nods after taking a quick glance around for any remaining spawn. He begins preparations to handle the body for transport.

"Search the ruins for anything of use as well. The wight may have, ah, kept things of interest."


A quick search of the ruins finds the stash of the wight. A few coins, some odds and ends like love letters and the like. Under a rock near the stash is a set of jewelry. A golden comb set with sapphires, a necklace of pearls, and a mithral locket, with a picture of a beautiful girl inside. The inscription says: 'To Giselle, ever the star in a father's eye.' All told, there is 2,000 gp of valuables here.

Now then, how do you proceed to return to the Baron? And what do you do when you get there?

You set out early the next morning. There is no sign of the old woman. It is a long, somber trip, gray skies threatening rain above. Soon enough, the walls of the Baron's manor can be seen rising above the woodlands ahead. A man dressed in the livery of the Baron's house gallops up to greet you.

"You have returned! Gods be praised!" he says jubilantly. His bright smile turns to a frown as he looks about. "Where...where is Giselle?"

The man's stern face softens as tears form in his eyes. He vaults from his horse just as a troop of armored men, riding hard, catch up to him. Their captain begins to protest, but is cut short by a sharp look from the Baron.

The Baron takes the body of his daughter from you, pausing a moment to uncover her face. For a long while, he looks at his slain daughter, while you and the Guards look on. Taking her up in his arms, he climbs into his saddle and spurs forward to retrieve her personal belongings. "These belonged to her mother, and to her mother before her..." he pauses, gathering himself. "You have done me a great service. Many would have written her off in her evil state, or taken the jewelry and claimed there was nothing to be found. Your dedication and honesty will be rewarded." He reaches into a saddlebag and pulls out a bag of coins, tossing it to Leena. "One thousand crowns," he says, drawing murmurs from the guard. "and my solemn oath to assist you in your further endeavors. See my major-domo." He yanks the reins around and rides off.

The bag contains 1000 pp. The offer allows you to pick one magic item of a value up to 3000 gp. This going to skew the WBL for Finnian a bit, but not horribly. The rest of you will have to get your 'WBL Stimulus' to get to the 10,500gp to the level 5 limit, if you aren't already there. Thank you for playing, and feel free to provide feedback

MUCH THANKS =^^= this little feline rogue will use it accordingly. so if i am correct, 2000gp each and a magic item worth 3000gp? if so, can i rather pay and extra 1000gp and have both my character's clawblades be made +1?


Well, 1000pp = 10000 gp, so 2500 per PC. And any crafting is done in the EE gameplay tab, but in this case, yes they will do that for you.

Thank you very much, GM! :D I can't think of any complaints on the game. You rolling for the results speeded things up but I think it would make things clearer if you showed the dice rolls or at least where you rolled for it. Like, if you rolled for Finnian's Will Save, just a note that he passed or failed it there.
