Kaliciel |
"Don't forget your hair."
Inikai waits a few moments before giving Kaliciel a grin to let her know that he is only kidding
Kallie actually began to consider the rest of the substance on her fingers, frowning at the prospect until she saw Inikai's grin. She then pointedly wiped the rest of it off on the wall with a smirk and lowered eyebrows. Very funny.
She was actually a bit grateful for it taking her mind off of what was ahead for a bit. Though what waited for them behind the doors did bring the same expression back, again in irritation. "Well, at least we didn't charge in."
Romon |
"Strange to have a passage lead to just another door." Muchorak turns to Romon, "Perhaps the hall is trapped?"
"I don't know. We haven't run into anything so far. It's just a creepy set of old tunnels. I'll go."
Romon puts on his best "silent glide" and steps into the tunnel, looking around for traps in a far more casual way than he has previously.
Hallway Traps? (1d20=10) +5 on the perception check or +7 if its sight or sound based.
DM Wellard |
Marak Quan |
Marak looks for signs that the rubble in the stairs comes from a collapse that was engineered down here, or perhaps higher up. (Pick marks on the walls, etc.) It makes sense to him that this place would have been sealed off from above, but one can never assume these things...
Perception 15, Knowledge (architecture & engineering) 8 to try and determine source of rubble / cave-in.
Marak Quan |
He'll pass that on.
"This rubble appears to be quite old, possibly even being a result of the collapse of a structure above during the Starfall." Turning to look at the walls, he continues, "In any event, I think it's safe to say that nobody has gone this way in a long, long time..."
"Assuming that there are no concealed doors right in this area, which I doubt, we might as well head back and take another corridor."
He actually doesn't 'doubt' that there might be concealed doors in this area, he's just got sore feet and wants to keep moving. :)
Muchorak "Windstriker" |
"Let us return to the statue and take the other path offered." Muchorak waits to see if everyone is ready before leading the way back, unless Wolf Spirit starts off first he will follow her.
Alisebett |
Ali heads back to the room with N & S tunnels. At the intersection she stops and looks both ways, then back to Big Bear and the party, as if to ask confirmation of which way to go.
Go back South to that one door we didn't open? Or head North (or Up on the map anyway)?

Let's try the door.
Kaliciel |
"I agree." Kallie interjected. She wondered if her eagerness to explore further in that direction was simply because it would delay going through those doors they left behind. Whatever was behind them....
"Wait. Do we have anything that could block those doors we left behind, near that altar? If the demon is behind them, what is to keep it from coming out and stalking us through these tunnels?" She wasn't trying to affect a lecturing or learned tone this time; she sounded urgently worried and was doing a good job of scaring herself.

"Nothing would prevent it, but it hasn't happened yet. We might be able to drag some of the stone from the rubble-filled room to block the doors, but I'd rather not waste the time. Let's just start with the closest door."
DM Wellard |
Alisebett |
We're in B12 correct? If not, that's where Ali leads the party, unless there are any objections. And that would only be leaving One door unopened yet in B3. Btw, thanks for the new map Wellard, much improved :)
therealthom |
Alisebett |
No Ali you're in B3...as Muchorak decided
Ah, I wasn't sure which door was the statue room, and I had assumed that as the other door in B12 was behind us in the direction that we are generally going that is what he meant by 'not leaving anything behind us'. But it's all good, Ali's not much on tactics, just put something bad in front of her to kill and she pretty happy (savage little creature : ) this this door's as good as any
Kaliciel |
Kaliciel went back to studying the statue as the others checked over the door. Gods, calm down. Look at her, for example. Whoever she was, if that was a real person, did she get a statue like that made of her by scaring herself senseless and jumping at shadows? No! So show some backbone!
"Are we ready?" she asked after a while, affecting her cool, collected tone again.
Romon |
When Romon declares the door trap free, Muchorak will open it ready for hostilities that may await on the other side.
Romon lets Muchorak take the door without a murmur. What a fool. Doesn't know me, but he'll just trust that I did the job right. I might have missed a trap. I might just not care enough to check well.
DM Wellard |
Muchorak opens the door and steps through onto a raised wooden platform..to his right 4 sin spawn squabble over a collection of skulls. They look up in surprise.
you should listen as well as look people..tsk tsk.
Both sides flatfooted..short of time tonight so I will work out initiatives etc tomorrow
DM Wellard |
Marak Quan |
Given his position, Marak only knows that there is noise ahead and that Muchorak has tensed up. Once again, the longsword strapped to his back lifts up from it's scabbard and floats forward 15 ft. to float unsteadily, as if suspended from invisible strings, a few feet over Ali's head.
Unless otherwise noted, he's currently holding the ranseur found earlier in his primary hand, unreadied.
Romon |
The one time I don't listen at the door. lol.
's okay. No harm done. A good lesson for Romon. He should have known to listen too.
Romon stands a moment stunned that something was right there behind the door. I'm getting careless. Should have listened too.
He draws his sword and prepares to enter the fray.
Inikai |
Inikai moves forward in order to let loose another moan without catching his fellows in the wake of it. If that is not possible he readies an action to do so when the path is clear. Failing all that he bash heads in with his morning star.
Wellard
Moan: Will save or be dazed for one round.
Attack roll if he cannot use moan: Natural 20
Critical (non)confirmation: Natural 1
I don not appreciate this kind of irony, Invisible Castle!
Alisebett |
Ali remembers the vile taste of the unnatural creatures, yet her desire to see them dead is far stronger so without thought she launches herself forward at the nearest, aiming to crush one of it's legs in her powerful jaws.
Kaliciel |
Kallie heard the others move into action. Unable to see what they were facing, she quickly stepped in place of those who charged ahead, determined not to cower out of sight of the enemy.
Kallie will step in where Alisbett was if the space is free, readying an action to unleash a Magic Missile at the first enemy she sees.
DM Wellard |
ok Ali and Inikai...remember I said you were limited to one action ?...you cannot move and attack(or moan) in this round..and Ali moving to attack would put you at the mercy of all 4 sinspawn at once this round...so I will give you the opportunity to rethink that move if you wish..
Inikai I will place at the edge of the stage preparing to moan next round.
Alisebett |
ah, sorry, missed the battle map first time around, I thought they were right in front of us. What's the ground/area like Off the catwalk? Ali moves to the area two squares to the right of the B6, so on the corner of the catwalk.
DM Wellard |
Marak Quan |
Marak's levitating longsword moves out of the square Kallie has entered, drifting forward to slash at the closest creature. Marak himself shoulders his way past Kallie and sidesteps to stand at the top of the stairs on the lefthand side of the platform.
Sword attack on creature #1, Marak is standing now 2 squares north of Roman on the map. 13 to hit, 10 damage
Kaliciel |
Seeing her most powerful spell once again seeming ineffective against the split-jaw creatures, Kallie momentarily lost her nerve. Gods, what is wrong with me! Why can't I focus! She was shaking when Marak's summoned weapon flew ahead. Bolstered by the sight of it, she ran behind it, throwing herself against the wall near Romon(in the square above his current position) and took aim at the closest monster.
The sight of so many of them so close nearly unnerved her again, but there was something a bit manic in her eyes now. Damn it! Not running! Not hiding anymore! Burn! She pointed at the closest sinspawn and white, ghostly flame flowed down her arm and lanced from her finger in a line towards the abomination.
Heavenly Fire - Ranged touch attack: 10
Damage: 6 (1d6+1 per 2 caster levels, fire damage against evil creatures)
Alisebett |
As the foul abomination approaches her, Ali rushes forward to Bite the evil creature; with her strong Jaws (1d20+5=20, 1d4+2=6)
Romon |
Romon moves through the door and swings to the right around Muchorak, trying to get into position to attack a sinspawn already engaged.
try to get to sneak attack position and strike with shortsword.
Attack roll, damage, sneak damage (1d20, 1d6, 1d6=[19], [5], [4])
19+3=22 to hit, damage is +2 so 7 hp, or 13 if the sneak attack works.
Wow! I haven't had that good a roll on invis castle in a long time.
DM Wellard |
actually Romon I make it 11 Damage..you don't get your strength bonus on the sneak attack dice. Ali the ground is a stone flagged floor
The lead Sinspawn is dazed by Inikais Moan(please remember to give me the DC when you do this in future)
Romon and Marak's swords slice into the thing..Muchorak lays it low and then Kallie's fire smashes into the second in the row...
Meanwhile on the cat walk Ali rips a chunk from her opponents hide.
In return Alis opponent tears a nasty slice along her flank with a claw(critical hit 8 damage)
The scorched Sinspawn steps forward to stand over its dead comrade clawing and biting at Inikai. It's attacks leave him bloodied and battered(15 Damage) though he fights off the rage that billows up in him.The remaining creature suddenly drops off the steps and scurries under the catwalk reappearing at the opposite side of the platform to menace Marak and Kallie
BTW Kallie..you never did cast the Magic Missile...it's still available to you..you said you were readying an action to cast it but never saw a sinspawn in round one
Alisebett |
Howling in pain and rage from the wound, Ali spins around andattacks the creature again (1d20+5=18, 1d4+2=6) , trying to bite off it's kneecap.
I love IC and IC loves me! : )
Inikai |
I guess this is round 2
[i]Inikai's voice explodes in an unintelligible burst of cursing fueled by rage and panic. He swings his morning star at the hideous misanthrope in front of him with all his strength. The creature's attacks have left it open for the counter-blow and it is hit squarely in its head.[i]
I will make sure to give the DCs for Inikai's powers in the furture. Also, there is a good chance that I will not be able to post tomorrow because it will be the Thansgiving holiday here. To everyone celebrating: Happy Thanksgiving. To Wellard: Thanks for the DMing and enjoy some of that great Scotish Tea.
Marak Quan |
Marak turns sideways facing into the room so that he can see the combat occuring to his right (the sinspawn attacking Inikai and Ali) and yet no longer has his back to the creature coming up the stairs to threaten himself and Kallie.
He presents his shield towards the creature coming up the stairs, and continues holding onto the ranseur in his right hand.
The bloody longsword moves to attack the creature on Inikai.
Happy Turkey Day to anyone who won't be able to post for the next day or so!
