Reta steps into a flank with Chuffy and slashes at the man's knees, while the rogue leaps onto his back and sinks both daggers into his kidneys. He screams in pain and collapses, blood pooling on the floor.

Combat over!

Examining the large creature reveals he's much less human than he appears. His royal robes and crown aren't actually separate from his body, and his hands are fused to the hafts of his hammers.

From his cage in the corner, Hoblob applauds. "Goblin chiefs are amazing! Kill hammer-shanks like wolves, like tigers! Hoblob is sorry he drew it!"

”What Hoblob mean he draw it? Hoblob am in trouble. Where am other two? And most important, where am Squealy Nord?!”

"Hoblob didn't mean to! Was just drawing from pictures in book. Painted tiger, painted monkeys, painted the king. Didn't know the king hated goblins! Here, you have paints, chiefs!" Hoblob gestures at a box of paints near his cage.

"Fnub took a 'fishy coat' and went to the lake to see if she could talk to fish. Glorious Beez got drunk off some bottles he found and wandered away to the east with a stomachache."

Hoblob sighs. "But Hoblob has no idea what happened to piggy. Not see him for... days? No idea how much time has passed."

Hoblob's cage can be opened easily by Chuffy should he wish to. It is locked, but the lock is laughably simple. The rest of this room is pretty bare, but there's a large jug of liquid hanging from a hook on a wall remnant.

The one remaining intact portion of the castle is to the south, with the door mostly closed.

Chuffy grabs some paints and draws a picture of Stankrush, his pet spider. He makes no move, yet, to open the cage.

Moggy will take the jug hanging on the wall and sling it over his shoulder. He moves to the mostly open door and walks through it.

How big do you paint the picture? Medium-sized, larger, smaller?

Mogmurch sees a bedroom, with a bed much too small for the king they just slew. There is a strangely-carved wooden rod on the bed. A ramshackle dresser has simple clothing of an appropriate size for the longshanks-sized goblin you met earlier.

Moggy grabs the wooden staff to test its weight for smashing.

Mogmurch determines it's not much of a club, but it does appear to be finely carved, inlaid with mother of pearl, with gold, silver, and platinum wire in complex, chaotic designs over the length of the rod. Mogmurch feels a strange magical power in the item.

Mogmurch examines the rod and while he doesn't have the capability to determine the magical properties, he notices that one end of the rod is pointed like an arrow, suggesting it might be possible to point it at something and try to activate it.

”Wait! Not rod soon I detect magic! Hmm .. idea not here. “

Poog isn't sure what type of magic it is, but he's got an idea of how to activate it.

”Stick for more than just bashing? Can it set dog on fire?”

Poog starts laughing!

"This is super item! Let me test!" Poog says and point the rod at Hoblob and tries to activate the item.

How big do you paint the picture? Medium-sized, larger, smaller?

It's all relative, but he's aiming for a copy of his own spider.

Chuffy draws a housecat-sized spider, which comes to life and begins crawling along the wall. It is clearly unnatural, looking like a child's drawing of a spider, except it moves and behaves exactly like a real spider.

Poog points the rod at Hoblob in the cage.

Suddenly, hundreds of butterflies start to stream out of the rod, filling the area with flashing colors and fluttering wings. For around 12 seconds, they are so dense as to blind everyone in the castle, but they quickly disperse, flying off in a cloud of color.

Greta laughs at her companion antics. She than searches the drawer with the clothes.

Please tell me that Stinkrush II eats a butterfly.

"LET ME TRY, LET ME TRY!"

Chuffy goes over to Poog with his hand outstretched.

Of course she does :) time for another Greta fashion statement.

”yes you try. But not me point!!!“

Chuffy grabs the want and points it at the new Stankrush, hoping to see it do something neat, muttering the word he thought he heard Poog say. Nothing happens and he tries again. He shakes it a few times and tries again. Since he does not have UMD, it is futile.

"Drat. Empty."

He drops the wand figuring it is useless.

Greta finds only simply clothes that look like they may have been drawn with the magical oil pastels, which caused them to become real clothing. They're pretty comfortable-looking, but too big for her.

The new spider pounces on a butterfly and begins feasting on it.

Mogmurch also pounces on a butterfly and eats it. ”Stick am of lunchtime yummies! Moggy’s favorite treasure. Let’s go find other goblins and smash them and go home!”

Chuffy opens the cage and lets Hoblob out.

"You help find Squealy now. Hoblob new scout!"

Chuffy gives him a poke with his dagger urging him forward. He also grabs a good supply of ink and paper.

Didn't previously notice Chuffy's post. It's not a wand, and doesn't require UMD.

Another burst of butterflies fills the castle as they issue forth from the rod.

After eating the butterfly, Mogmurch realizes it tastes like crayons, a taste he recalls from raiding a passing trader's wagon full of children's toys.

Hoblob throws himself at Chuffy's feet as he is released from the cage, and nods furiously, "Hoblob scout, then run behind chiefs and watch them defeat all foes!"

The five goblins step out of the ruined castle and look over the Baglands from the edge of a small bluff. In the distance, they can see a picturesque lake (literally, it looks like a picture of a lake), a ramshackle house in the woods, a short, cylindrical tower in the distance with a spiral winding around its outside, and a series of rocky hills nearby that look like they might have caves in them. The tower is on the other side of the lake, so both of those are in the same direction, to the southwest. The hills and woods are north east and south east, respectively, about the same distance away from each other.

Moggy shakes his head and begins walking toward the newly created lake. [b]”Who am draw lake? Hopefully draw fish too. Butterfly’s am delicious but not filling.”[-b]

Chuffy contentedly pokes at Hoblob until Hoblob is walking in front.

"To the lake!"

”Yes going!! Poog hunger also has!“ he says while walking.

Taking a brightly coloured piece of shirt, she rips off here and there and makes a way to big baldric of it. Looking at herself and finding herself irresistible she dances to the next piece of furniture to just hack off a chair leg, to get a decent club.

OK, you have a club now, Greta.

You approach the lake, moving over the bright green grasslands, down from the castle ruins. As you move, at one point you see a winged figure fly over in the sky, looking dragon-like, but too far away to see clearly. This is a little concerning, but it doesn't appear to be coming your way.

There is a pretty beach here, going down to the water which seems to be very shallow and clean. Looking into the water reveals many little fish, some of which resemble a child's drawings of fish, and others are more detailed and realistic.

As you begin walking along the shore, a dark shape in the water begins approaching. It looks large sized, and is seems like a wide diamond or kite shape.

”There am manta Ray, leave alone, or it gets mean. Eat the other fish but leave ray alone!”. Moggy tries to scoop up some tasty looking fish.

”But where go we now?“ Poog asks.

"We go to castle."

Chuffy still hasn't given up on his awesome idea of jumping from the walls and bouncing. In the mean time he draws a picture of it raining fishes using the magical pigments he brought along.

Chuffy's fish flop out onto the sand and splash into the water.

As Mogmurch tries to catch some of the fish, the manta ray keeps coming closer and closer. The 4 goblin chiefs are starting to get worried and ready to fight when the giant, flat fish rears up in the water and shrinks down into the form of a little goblin girl, wearing soaking wet leather rags and a fine cloak that looks distinctly like the skin of the manta ray.

It's Fnub! "Great chiefs! You come to find Fnub? Hoblob too? Am Fnub forgiven? Found fishy cloak during castle fight, and am swimming around the lake ever since."

Moggy shakes his head. ”Fnub am forgiven. Only if she give cloak to Moggy. King Moggy might want swim. Then Fnib am forgave.”

The tower seemed like the next closest place, so Moggy went marching in that direction.

OK then, Cuffy will have to make his own castle. Or... I KNOW!

Chuffy starts scribbling madly, a picture of a GIANT 100' high spiral slide that empties into the lake and adds a ladder to it. Unfortunately he forgets to put any walls on it. Good thing the ground is spongy.

"Who go first?"

The total box can be used to create inanimate objects of 1400 cubic feet. I'm not sure how much what you just described would take.

Fnub willingly hands over the cloak. This is a cloak of the manta ray. "Fnub also find treasure in lake, chiefs! Could be helpful!"

Fnub will show you where she has stashed some of the things she has found on the bottom of the lake. They are all drawn, some of them looking rather fanciful, but you find a double-headed axe of bright blue, a red bead that looks like it could be thrown, a ring with a horned head on it, possibly a ram or a goat, and a small stick with a jester's head drawn on the end, wearing a multi-tasseled cap that reminds the four goblins of an adventure they had when they were just whelps barely out of the cage.

Assuming detect magic is cast, the above items are all clearly magical.

When Chuffy is done with his drawing, and after asking who's first, he looks around and finds that his HUGE slide has been rendered as miniature slide next to a puddle.

"Um, Not big enough. Chuffy very sad."

But he rebounds quickly and, as usual, move on to the next shiny object that catches his interest. He latches onto the wand (or what he thinks is a wand) and once again tries to activate it.

"Poison!"
"Crunchies!"
"FIRE!"
"Squealy!"

Once again he fails and drops it to the ground proclaiming it empty and puts the hat on (unless Greta gets to it first).

”Poog, am those magical? What they do?”

Poog casts detect magic and looks at the items.

"Ahhhh, look! This is wand to be swim able! I cannot make use! Who use magic device able? Then we become people with swim and can water breathe to go in water!"

Chuffy wonders if the cloak of the manta ray tastes good and gives it a lick and a bite.

Who has UMD? alter self is not on Poog‘s class list.

Greta takes the axe and swings it once, twice.
Does it feel useable to her?

The axe is sharp and deadly-looking, but Greta finds that the second axe blade makes it a little tricky to use. She can wield it, but she'll have to be a little careful. She's not proficient, so will take a -4 penalty. Not sure why the module authors put such a niche weapon in there, except maybe to reflect that these are basically a child-like mind's doodles come to life.

I don't think any of the pregens has UMD. Alter Self is on the Alchemist formula list, though, so Mogmurch could use the wand, but only on himself. Perfectly usable as a buff, though. Polymorphing into another small creature, even another goblin, boosts Dexterity, even though you're already small.

Moggy will greedily take the wand, ready to do all kinds of funky shapes with it.

Fnub asks, "Where chiefs go now? Lake is pretty but nothing more in it but fish that taste like candles. Tower has mean dogs on it, chiefs want to go kill? Bully-dogs chase me and steal... err, Fnub drove them away to the tower!"

”What dogs steal? Dogs am bad. Watch out for dogs. Go to tower and group kill dogs!”

"Bully-dogs can fly, so am not normal dogs. Can talk too, and howled at me. Scared... err, tried to scare Fnub, but Fnub not afraid! Turned into fish and attacked from the water!"
