"Sha-uhm, no can't say that rings a bell. I know of the great DAHAK though! He is our dragon overlord, created by the prime dragons Apsu and Tiamat, known as The Endless Destruction, Sorrowmaker, and worthy of all respect of any dragons anywhere! Nyip nyip nyyipp!"
Skyrahk stands proudly proclaiming her deity's awesomeness.
"You? Not familiar."
Skyrahk is expecting the wyrm to respond with admiration and respect at the name of Dahak. Probably not gonna happen.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Diplomacy check to really anger a dragon.
Prepare to run guys!
Succes!
"Insolent worms! Shadrixis will be the name you hear!"
Shadrixis takes to the sky and starts flying around the platform.

Afternoon of work and suddenly we've skipped the talking stage... Quite the annoyance... But okay, let's get this over with then.
In order of importance:
- Special offensive abilities
- Special defensive abilities
- Weakest saving throw
- Resistances
Well, it's currently still the talking phase, you just have to talk a bit faster! ;-)
- Breathes negative energy.
- Immune to cold, death effects, negative energy, paralysis and sleep
- Fortitude

Engashez cannot fail the Sense Motive check due to Heroism.
Engashez drops to the ground and starts speaking in draconic.
Of course we have heard of the mighty Shadrixis, Conqueror of the Magnificent Spire, Slayer of the Light-Weaver D'ziriak people. My companions are just slow at recognising you, Your True Truebloodness. And Skyrakh here has sniffed too much of the outside air. He's not used to it being clean.
What do you want: Diplomacy or Bluff?
Pethjunjustforthistime |
You don't know who I am? Have you not heard of the mighty Shadrixis?!"
Mighty? MIGHTY? i expected a true trueblood to be bigger.
Pethjun lets out with a dissapointed wimper. When the dragon sneers at us indignantly and starts flying
clenches the rapier in her mouth and draws a spear
OOOOOooooooh, A CHALLANGE IT MAKES TO USSH?! Pethjun will not refuuuusse, no refuuuussse I'lll NEVER!
Readies to throw a javelin at the dragon when it engages in hostile action
CLEAR THE DeCK FOR the a true truebloods breath!
spear, flatfooted,: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

I'll be at work tomorrow during the day so no chance to look in on this then. Hence a rather detailed instruction.
Fazgyn gives Pethjun and Skyrakh a dirty look.
"You just had to didn't you?"
Facing the dragon:
"If you make an example of them, you can count on us as your new minions!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Meanhile I'm readying in the following way:
IF the dragon moves without a 5ft step (i.e. not gonna full attack), to anywhere I can reach him with a 5ft step;
THEN
- I'll 5ft step and attack.
- If possible (lesser priority) my 5ft step will be in a direction that takes me out of a breath weapon cone that would include other allies.
- If possible (least priority)my 5ft step will be northwards so as to make it easier to set up a flank later.
If all of this works out and the dragon moves on after my attack, he'll provoke since even Flyby doesn't protect you from that.
On subsequent rounds, if I need to be ghosted, these are things I'd be inclined to try:
- Try to flank/sneak attack.
- If enemy AC seems doable, go 2WF. Otherwise, stick to one-handed for greater accuracy.
- If the dragon refuses to close into melee, use the pillar to play peekaboo. Hide behind it, stealth, then sneak attack with the bow when it gets within 30ft. Circling around the pillar as needed to maintain cover, because having cover suffices to stealth.

Slow Fang Shui wrote:Circling around the pillar as needed to maintain cover, because having cover suffices to stealth. There is no pillar, there is a black ball of blackness floating 5 foot in the air. (See right side for a sideview of the tower)
Oh right. Good point. Anything I or perhaps the more castery guys can make of that?
GM Auke |
Pointing at the portal and standing up:
Surely the Mighty Shadrixis is aware that such portals have been prohibited by decree of his True Truebloodedness' broodmother (or father? I didn't get that)? How is it you disobey this command?
Most matriarchs are female
That old wyrm is stuck in the past with her ancient way of thinking. I'm the new world order!

I kind of feel I should fall on the floor right now and do what ever the dragon wants being a Kobold and all that..but we did know we were going to have to fight a dragon..and we all ready threw a javelin at it...so..
Vanarog moves to the side to avoid having everyone get caught inside a breath weapon attack
"Gives us the scale and close the portalss and we'll go away"
GM Auke |
Insolence! I will teach you manners! Bathe in my glorious breath
Flies around the tower to a position he can breathe negative energy: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Fortitude DC14 for half
Pethjun: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Athrax: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Skyrakh: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Engashez: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Fazgyn: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Pethjun? You want your ready to go off? It will provoke...

Vanarog moves a bit closer and gathers a lot of power, sparks start to surround one of his hands
"Surrender now or fear the Might of the Master of Magics!"
Vanarog then releases the most powerful spell he has access to.
(Casting Scorching ray)
To hit touch AC Dragon: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 4 = 13 (firing into melee)
Fire damage if hit: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 4) = 13
Skyrahk a.k.a. Maglok |
I don't think we have to grovel, Dahak's faith specifically states he is hated by most other dragons. :) It's fiinnneee
"Ouch, ouch!... Hmm, your breath is indeed not that strong! Ha! Dahak protects us!"
Skyrahk moves a bit while taking out a scroll and casts it, mumbling to her god Dahak.
Skyrahk casts spiritual weapon from a scroll
A fancy looking spiritual whip with several ends and spikey bits jumps into being in the square of the umbral dragon. It immediately starts flailing away.
Spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
If you need it the SR roll:SR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

i WOULD HAVE THROWN THE SPEAR IS HE MOVED INTO POSITION (since he declared his intention to attack us), but ok...
i poke with spear and with tail.

I'll accept your throw (although the intention was mainly fluff).
Pethjun throws his spear which hits, then draws his rapier and misses.
