"I'm in service of the Light-Weavers’ Guild and I'm operating under orders from guildmaster Z’mandrik himself.

The imbeciles of the Onyx Alliance disregard the rules of our city’s matron, the great Argrinyxia. She has forbidden the creation of any planar gateways without her express consent—consent only given in the form of one of her vaunted scales. Unable to retrieve such a blessing on their own, the alliance managed to trick one of great Argrinyxia’s whelplings into stealing such a scale. Now, that misbegotten child, the wyrmling Shadrixis, has been gifted a lair as an offering from the Onyx Alliance. Were you to retrieve the scale and slay the whelping, then it would be a simple matter to close the portal that intrudes on your world. Of course, this would also accomplish my goals."

Skyrahk steps forward to enlighten her fellow kobolds about matters of faith.

"No trouble, this great dragon is inconsequential compared to Dahak. Slaying a dragon-whelp will only proof our power in his eyes! DAHAK!"

Sovereign Court

So you work for the great True Trueblood and you want us to kill one of her little ones? Why not do that yourself?

"My involvement must remain strictly confidential. As such, I can only guide you to the lair of Shadrixis. I cannot risk my involvement being discovered by the Onyx Alliance."

"The Onyx Alliance provided Shadrixis a great spire to roost upon—a spire built on a hive of my people, destroyed by the alliance during one of their many expansions in the city. The umbral wyrmling is like most children of his species, indolent and insufferable. As a dragon, he wishes to be fawned over, but despises his lesser role in the great machine of Shadow Absalom. I do not suspect any servants to be with him, but even alone a wyrmling dragon is a formidable foe."

Sovereign Court

Anything else we should know about this grey place (Shadow Absalom)? Or smething specific to look out for in her lair for you?

(Looking somewhat unconvinced, but still interested)

"So the great True Trueblood doesn't care to punish her whelp... what if we kill the True Trueblood's whelp, will she want to punish us?"

"As long as you don't fashion armor out of the remains you should be fine. Most dragons don't like that, even if they are not directly related"

"In that case, I think we can work on this together... like m'colleague said, anything else you can tell us or want us to retrieve?"

Let's go on then, if that's the only way for us to get back...And a wyrmling is still a True Trueblood!

after having boredly observed the going onse with the rest of the group, the potential killing of a dragonling rouses Pethjun to action upon hearing:

Quote:
Slaying a dragon-whelp will only proof our power in his eyes! DAHAK!

she lept up and roared:

"YESH! kill the strong and prove or power we should!"

She quickly quipped back at:

Most dragons don't like that, even if they are not directly related.

"You can take any part of Shadrixis with you."

A soaring edifice of darkened violet stone looms in the city’s skyline, some four hundred feet above. Jet-black dirt extends a hundred feet around the tower in a sizable mound that obscures the spire’s base. Engraved in the hills around the tower are strange symbols, each the size of a standing human. There are no visible entrances to the tower, though a single tunnel descends into the hill surrounding the spire.

See right side of the map

DC 16 Knowledge (arcana):
The magical etchings correspond to the magical runes commonly found on d’ziriak hives. Normally these symbols glow with luminous energies, indicating ownership of the region to a given hive, but the glowing light went out when the Onyx Alliance destroyed the hive.

The underground tunnel opens up into what was once a vast circular chamber. Portions of the northwest and southeastern sections of the room have collapsed. Three pillars rise up twenty feet to a stone ceiling above, each of their sides covered in black marble polished to a reflective sheen. A perfectly spherical mirror floats in the air at the northern end of the space, roughly two feet in diameter. An audible hum emanates from the orb and echoes throughout the room.

Maps is still on Roll20

Fazgyn carefully investigates the room, expecting traps, just wondering where they are. The orb seems particularly suspicious, but it might just be bait for something else...

Perception/Trapfinding: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

Fazgyn doesn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Spellcraft orb DC 22:
The floating orb that hovers 2 feet off the ground in the northern edge of the chamber is a mirror gate. Touching the orb causes the mirror reflection of the current chamber to frost over, and over the course of a minute the reflection shifts into that of the matching mirror gate. Once this transformation is complete, a creature that touches the orb travels to the matching orb.

Since the magicky types seem slow to react, for now Fazgyn's just going to find a rag to drape over the orb so whatever's inside can't see out. After that he's going to look around for any other (hidden) exits in the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Fazgyn walks to the orb and throws a rag over the orb, this however seems to activate something! and the orb starts frosting over!

WHATEVER IT ISH, I KILL IT FIRSTS!

Fazgyn skitters backwards, drawing a bow and readying to shoot anything coming after him. Otherwise, intent is to hide behind the pillar so I can stealth attack next round.

(What is this "buff" thing you speak of?)

Skyrahk draws her dagger and wand of cure light wounds as a precaution on her turn.

How long since we stepped through the portal? I had some 4+ hours buffs going

It's been a while, about 4 hours, so any 4 hour buffs cast after the last fight are still active, but anything shorter than 5 hours cast before that fight will be gone.

The brawny kobolt positions herself 5 foot diagnally away from the mirror and readies a power attack jab to whom ever emerges.

Or is it possible to hide in the shadows and pounce on whatever emerges ? with a

I'm readied to attack as well, if an enemy walks into my line of fire. Ideal would be to surprise him with stealth.

I know this, but forgot to make a note ;-)

Ghosting Athrax and Varanog

Engashez cast mirror image
Athrax drinks his mutagen
Varanog casts mage armor

Fazgyn is looking past the black basalt pillar towards the orb, waiting to shoot at an enemy. In the shining surface of the pillar he can see his reflection, and his reflection can see him it seems! It draws a dagger and steps out of the pillar and attacks!

It looks like Fazgyn's reflection is stepping out of the mirror 4 times and attacks him with his own (reflection) dagger, right?

Yes, and actually the thing talks like Fazgyn as well!

You identify these creatures as a soulsliver! Dangerous extradimensional shapechangers that lurk in the half-dimensions behind mirrors.

Anything specific you'd like to know?

Grand Lodge

Mogmurch - Male goblin 1 hp 7/7 AC 14, touch 13, ff13 Fort +1, Ref +2, Will + 1Init +2; Perception +3

Normally I'd ask the coolest thing they could do..but I'm getting a feeling that might be the ability to move through mirrors and create doubles. ;). Do I know if they have any resistances/immunitues?

Varanog knows they have some resistance to acid and fire

Grand Lodge

"Watch out! Those mirror kobolds have resistance to acid and fire."

Not my turn to act yet, so limited to free actions..so not doing anything other then inform the others at this point

That doesn't hit, and no, not much use shooting if there's no sneak attack anyway.

Did the pretender say anything, or make any sound?

"My slow fang is going to leave a nice mark on you!"

"Pfooey!"

I draw my +1 shortsword and ready to strike when someone steps into flanking position.

Sovereign Court

If no-one is going to step into the flanking position before ghosting happens, Engashez would like to do it so Slow Fang can attack. I still have a Move Action available.

I was expecting Pethjun to do so. But if he doesn't you're welcome to.
