Tychi attacks with his whip sword...

2hpa whipsword: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30

Nike Gores the thing...

Gore: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11 + Acid: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Nike then draws back 30 ft to enable another charge...

Ride, to avoid AoO if needed: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (10) + 26 = 36

Tychi's sword doesn't strike any of the exposed components of the Clockwork and, despite Nike managing to gore the machine, it is still standing when Nike attempts to back away...

...she is agile enough to avoid being struck by the machine as it clambers after her... Yet, when it is fully over the iron wall, it 'bounds' after the unicorn and pummels Tychi...

GM Only:

Brass Guardian 1, Grapple vs Tychi: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (13) + 29 = 42, Tychi is NOT Grappled

A second clockwork, climbing across the wall, slams into Lector...a huge metal fist grabbing the cleric - and slashing him with the embedded mechanical blades wthin it's palm...

Brass Guardian 2, Slam vs Lector Enteap: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (9) + 23 = 32, hitting for 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (10, 4) + 8 = 22 plus Grab
Brass Guardian 2, Grapple vs Lector Enteap: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (17) + 29 = 46, Lector Enteap is Grappled for a further 2d10 + 12 ⇒ (3, 5) + 12 = 20

...it is at this point, when the tide of battle hangs briefly in the balance, that the Hill Giant reappears... a stupid grin leering across its face as it raises the cannon crudely melded on to its arm...

Everyone may take their turn now - note that I have reset everyone to full health as people were, for the most part, hovering around there

This thing adds 29 to CMB? G@~ d+!n, Lector is taken out of the fight. Only one thing to do...

Lector roars and fills the area with an aura of chaos. "Drop me and fight me you coward!" He yells.

Aura of Chaos:
These energies manifest as a 30-foot aura of chaos for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. All enemies within this aura must declare one type of action at the start of their turn (attack, cast a spell, move, use an item, or activate a special ability) and make a Will save (DC 21). Creatures that fail the Will save must take an action other than their declared action. If they succeed, they must take the declared action. Creatures cannot select actions that they cannot perform.

Is it possible to switch my attacks to #1? The one that has Lector grappled? Thinking about it, I should've done that instead. If not then not. Just thought I'd ask.

Figwidget's eyes go wide as the cannon-wielding hill giant shows up. "This is not good," he mutters. Knowing he's going to need more battlefield mobility than he has right now, he pulls out his Universal Formula extract and quaffs it, making the last-minute adjustment to turn it into an extract of Fly, giving him a 60-foot fly speed.

He then flies forward, also climbing as he flies. (How high is the ceiling? He'll go as high as he can, or to a height of 25ft as he moves 25ft forward. Hopefully, this will keep him out of range of the brass guardian nearest him. Map updated.)

Casey Jayne - no problem with you changing the target of your attack to Brass Guardian 2 (I had '1' and '2' mixed up in the map - fixed that now!!!)

A salvo from Casey's gun hits the Brass Guardian holding Lector tight... The noise of metal smashing against metal almost drowns out the noise of the machinery within the room... But it will take a lot more to bring the Guardian down...

Figwidget - the ceiling in this room is around 30 feet high so you can move out of reach of the Brass Guardian.

Tychi - your first blow takes the Brass Guardian down

As Tychi's blade pierces the carapace of the Brass Guardian, there is a sudden wrenching and shrieking of gears... And, moments later, it explodes...

All creatures within a 10-foot burst take 12d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6, 4, 2, 2, 3, 3, 6, 2, 1) = 37 points of slashing damage—a DC 18 Reflex save results in half damage.

Nike Save: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
Tychi Save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

Despite her bulk and proximity, Nike sidesteps the explosion with ease. Unfortunately, Tychi takes a small piece of shrapnel to the shoulder. Improved Evasion, half damage even on failed save, sohei abilities give improved evasion to Nike while adjacent

Nike gives another bugling challenge and lowers her head and charges the giant. Taking a risk, but figure anything involved in this place is evil... Nike's bugle signals her call to her goddess to bring forth righteous wrath on the giant... She charges forward, horn lowered...

Powerful Charge Smite!: 1d20 + 17 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 17 + 6 = 37
Damage: 4d6 + 12 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 5) + 12 + 5 = 36

Assuming it's evil, she gains +6 deflection bonus to AC

Nike slams into the Giant - her horn piercing it's stomach with a sickening 'pop' sound... Yet the Giant, as dull-minded as it is, merely laughs off the injury before smashing the unicorn twice... and then, with the barrel of the cannon grafted to it's arm, swiping at her with a swung 'arm'...

Figwidget says, "This place is going up-- there may be pressurized vessels in here that will explode! We should get out of here soon!"

He whirles in place tosses a bomb at the Brass Guardian holding Casey Jayne (or that just dropped him, as the case may be).

Fly check to hover: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18

Precise shot + PBS, using Precise Bombs to omit Casey Jane.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Damage: 7d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 2, 1, 4, 1) + 7 = 29

Realizing that he's only got three bombs left, Figwidget hopes it will be enough....

Hovering above the Brass Guardian with Casey Jayne in its clutches, Figwidget throws one of his dwindling supply of bombs… it fizzes and crackles as the armour of the clockwork buckles from the blast. The bomb is placed accurately enough to omit Casey from the shrapnel spraying around the room… but Casey, still struggling within the clutches of the machine, finds himself truly captured…

Meanwhile, outside the facility, the fleeing machine finds itself caught within the tightening coils of Lector’s otherworldly serpent… metal crunches and bends as the snake squeezes…

Figwidget flies over to the closest set of doors. With a fly speed of 60, he can just make it. Are they open? If not, he'll descend as he gets near to them and open them. If they are, he'll instead fly out and try to get into a tactically reasonable position. I'm guessing this thing has a ginormous reach, and he'll try to stay out of it.

"A shame that we're fighting this," Figwidget says. "I'd love to take it apart and try to figure out how it works!"

Looking at it, can Figwidget detect any particular defenses, or any weaknesses that we might be able to exploit?

Figwidget/Lector? Tychi/Nike are going around the long way to get outside the courtyard. That crab is WAY to big to fight in the courtyard, it can pin you down against a wall and crush two or three at a time. We need more space to fight it.

As Tychi’s blade rips through the armour of the Brass Guardian that had dropped Casey Jayne, there is a sudden screaming of decelerating gears and valves rupturing – and, in a rapidly expanding blossom of shrapnel, it explodes…

Casey Jayne and Tychi must make a DC18 reflex save or take 12d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 1, 2, 5, 5, 4, 1, 3, 2, 3) = 41 slashing damage; half damage on a save.

Meanwhile, outside the building, the snake continues it’s life or death struggle against the Brass Guardian – held by both one of the so-called ‘Protectors of Alkenstar’ and the behemoth Clockwork Crab – it cannot gain any purchase upon the Guardian…

Lector – the Snake takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls due to being grappled and so misses the Brass Guardian.

…and then, summoned from nothing, a hand of pure force attempts to hold the clockwork crab in position – but it is no use, the construct is too large and too powerful to be held in place…

Figwidget – beyond the standard clockwork traits that you anticipate, it seems that the armour across the crab is exceptionally thick (DR10/-) and, from its material of construction, it is also likely to have elemental resistances (acid, cold and fire resistance) – it’s main method of attack, you have already seen – the immense powerful claws hold and constrict its foes. It is also quite likely, given the instructions that the ‘machine gave’ to the hill giant previously, that somewhere within the metal body of the machine, someone is actually ‘driving’ or ‘riding’ this construct…

Fixing his hat now that the guardian has let him go and exploded all over him. "That's a good idea. Better to fight it out in the open."

Gonna fly now. Activating fly spell from armor. Fly 30' straight up into the air if possible. Not sure how high the ceiling is.

Is Figwidget able to fly out the door he's at and get around to a spot where he can be out of reach of the crab? If not, he'll go around the other way. He wants to get outside where he can get a look at the thing without getting close enough to be attacked. He'll use altitude as he flies.

If Fidwidget can get out:

Figwidget figures that perhaps the only hope against this behemoth is that it might be too big to move fast, and he might be able to get inside its defenses. If he can find the way into it, he might be able to confront whoever it is who is driving the crab, and disable it.

(Plus, Figwidget would love to take the crab apart and add it to his collection....)

The gnome flies above the crab, staying out of reach. He looks at the crab. The first thing he's looking for is an entrance for a person/driver. Failing that, he's looking for air vents; surely whoever is driving it will need vents. Figwidget does have a potion of gaseous form stashed away that he might use.....

Rolls that might be relevant:

This is a good question because this is what Casey wants to do also if it's possible. Fly out the door and out into the sky. Obviously for next round but better to know now if it's gonna be possible.

All – there is enough headroom within this part of the structure for flying folk to be airborne and to exit the building at an altitude of 20ft or so...

Giant Anaconda is Dead

Figwidget – hovering out of reach of the Crab, you can see that there is indeed a person-sized hatch towards the rear of the construct… and, in the event that it is locked in position, there are also multiple vents and grilles across the entire shell of the crab…

Meanwhile, within the building, Tychi and Nike are confronted with a growing wall of flame – it isn’t yet large and intense enough to harm them as they run through… but the facility is very much on fire and must surely now be doomed…

Seeing the openings to get inside, Figwidget figures he'll have better luck facing whoever's inside -- or, better, sabotaging the clockwork from the inside -- than fighting the beast from the outside.

He pulls his Gaseous Form potion out of his Handy Haversack, and drinks it, using his Enhance Potion discovery to make it function at his caster level.

(Next round, Figwidget will take a double move to get to the vents on the crab. I figure it'll take him a couple of rounds to get to the crab, as his fly speed is now only 10 feet in gaseous form.)

Gaseous Form?! That is such a freaking cool idea! I can't wait to see how that plays out.

@Zed: If you look at where Casey is on the map(I've moved 30' so far), there's an opening that's 2 squares up/1 square to the left/and then another square up from him.

My question is: Is that really an opening that leads to the outside?

Casey Jayne - that opening leads to a corridor and then out to a set of battlements around the courtyard of the facility - so it's an entirely sensible place to exit the building without moving into reach of the Crab machine

Figwidget - sounds good... Let's hope the crab doesn't suddenly move!!! I'm with Casey though - it's too cool an idea not to work!!!

Will wait on Casey's finished move action / Lector before proceeding - we're too close to the glorious denouement to let Lector miss out and be GM PC'd
