Positioning herself in the courtyard to get the best chance of success, Nike gallops forward - jumping, she clears the pool and, momentarily drenched by the cooling waterfall, lands on the wide conveyor. It groans and creaks under the sudden loading but is stable enough...

Startled, the plate-clad woman looks up from her work and shouts, "Whatever that is... Take it down!!!"

...prepared and with razor sharp awareness of his surroundings, Tychi is the first to act...

Drinking and tossing aside the newly empty vial, Figwidget says, "He does have a light touch, I agree."

GM, as we are approaching the door, Figwidget will drink a [i]Shield[i] extract, if you're OK with that.

The conveyor, whilst sturdy, proves to be a poor platform from which to attack...the moving parts upset Nike's balance so much that she misses in her charge against the undead gunslinger - Tychi's attack against the woman fare little better... One single swipe of his weapon finding it's target whilst a barely believable four go astray...

The woman's bodyguards are quick to respond...pistols drawn and blazing almost instantly.

Stepping backwards from her attackers, the woman holds a symbol of Brigh aloft and, as she utters a prayer of protection, a vast and high wall of iron - with clockwork ticking internally within it - bursts from the ground blocking Nike's way forwards...

The ceilings in the room are nearly fifty feet high - the iron wall is ten feet high

Kogra, five ft step then Wall of Iron

As the wall rises, Tychi sees the ratfolk and gnolls start to move into the room...

Ooh, Pale Stranger's. Definitely a very cool undead critter, one of my favorites. I made a "lesser" one a few months ago to challenge my level 7 party.

Guns. An interesting way to wage war. It lacks the close feeling though. His cold voice turns to Casey. "Casey, Fidwidget, come in further so I may protect us all with a spell." Lector leads them in then raises his free hand. "Thirku suacoic." Cylinders of upward wind rise around every member of the party, moving with them.

Concentration DC 25: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32 In case the ratfolk threatens Lector when he casts his spell.

Move action into the room, then waiting until Casey and Fidwidget move further into the room (specifically within 30 ft. of Tychi) and casting fickle winds on the entire party. That should ruin the Pale Stangers days.

Edit: I did move past the ratfolk, so it can take an AoO on me if it wants to.

Tychi looks at the wall with contempt, and Nike gives a horselike whinney. Then she leaps straight up and over the iron wall as if it was not there, and lands on the caster and the gun toting thing!

Going to leave it up to the GM, but basically it's a death from above attack. Nike has 16 Acrobatics, +14 while Tychi is riding on her. The DC to jump a 7 foot wall is 28. Nike's minimum roll is 31. I'm fairly certain the woman and creature aren't going to expect that. If either has a readied melee weapon, they likely get AoO, but, I don't think either one does from the descriptions. Need to know how you want to handle it. It's not really an override, it's not a charge, and so on, but it's physically doable. :) Will wait to see how you want to handle it. Either way, I'm fairly certain the two are not going to be happy. Nike should have a standard action after leaping, and Tychi a full action. Gotta love Tychi's ability to share High Jump with Nike while he's riding her... :)

Lector - Yep, love the Pale Strangers... Think they can be a pretty evocative adversary in the right adventure - I would like to see some better art for them though - the image in Bestiary 3 is good, it just doesn't say 'stranger' as much as it could...

At Figwidget's suggestion to down weapons and leaving, both of the ratfolk seem briefly conflicted...between running and defending the room - for now, both of them cower...waiting to see how the fight unfolds...

Casey's musket catches one of the gnolls in the shoulder - there is a small explosion of blood and bone as the musket ball exits on the other side of the limb...

GM Only:
Kogra = 66/131 HP, Gnoll 2 = 52/79HP

Tychi / Nike - let's just play it as a standard attack... It's not really a charge and, assuming the dice gods don't hate you quite as much as last time, it probably doesn't matter - FYI, I really did mean to move both of them back from the wall but lets leave it as is...I like the death from above imagery!!!

Waiting to see if the gunman survives that flurry before posting Nike's action, assuming the boards don't eat this post.

Tychi / Nike - the Pale Stranger is very close to death following Tychi's attack

Figwidget's attempt to recognize the spell that the cleric of Brigh cast: Spellcraft: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33

Figwidget, seeing the woman disappears, curses under his breath. "She'll be back, I bet," he mutters, before underhanding a bomb over Lector's head at the gnoll.

Throwing at gnoll #2, using Precise Bombs to omit lector from the splash.

Ranged Touch including PBS: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
damage if hits including PBS: 7d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 6, 6, 1, 6) + 7 = 33

Again and again, Taicho brings his blade down on the undead gunslinger… it slices into long dead flesh yet, somehow, the creature still stands… and, worse yet, avoids Nike’s attacks…

GM Only:
Pale Stranger 2 = 12/127HP

Once more, the gunslinger behind the conveyor raises his pistol and fire’s upon Tychi…this time, the shot is deadly accurate…

Pale Stranger 1, Stranger's Shot vs Tychi (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30, hitting for 1d8 + 1 + 6d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (2, 4, 2, 3, 6, 4) = 24

Tychi – you are at -12HP, unconscious and dying – you need to make a DC10 CON save with a -12 penalty to stabilise

Stepping backwards from the unicorn, the other gunslinger lowers the tattered fabric that covered it’s face to reveal a leering, mummified skull…

Pale Stranger 2, 5ft step then activate aura (free action)

Tychi, Nike and Casey Jayne must make a DC21 Will Save or be Panicked – this is a Mind-Affecting / Fear effect. On a successful save, you are Shaken for 1 round

…and then unleashes a salvo of gunfire into the flanks of the magical beast…

Meanwhile, after Figwidget realises that the vanishing woman was using Word of Recall to escape the combat, he hurls an accurate bomb to slay the remaining gnoll.

Everyone may take their turn now

Saddle (16-20 bad): 1d20 ⇒ 3

Nike flicks her head at the one who finally managed to hit her, and snorts in dirision. "Deal with these two, I'll deal with Tychi." She says. Fortunately, the military saddle on her back holds Tychi in it's grip. She moves around the corner and down the corridor, putting a wall between her and the undead.

She then uses a lay on hands on Tychi, obviating the need for a con check to stabilize.

LoH: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

Damn. Lector activated his haste armor and sprints across the room to get to Tychi.

@Zed: I didn't notice Casey's attack on Pale Stranger #2 on your update. Not sure if I missed or what might have happened.

Casey Jayne – I posted your attack on Pale Stranger 2 in an earlier GM post – here (sometimes, if it takes a few days for all players to post their actions for the round, I will post outcomes of the players’ who have posted alongside a reminder / prompt for other players… this is quite helpful if people’s actions are conditional on the outcome of other people’s attacks, etc)

M Gnome Alchemist (Mindchemist) / 14

Figwidget hears the shot and Tychi hit the ground (or sees? not sure how much of the stuff on the map would block all sight). He also hears Nike say that she will deal with Tychi, and trusts the unicorn.

He moves forward, and throws a bomb at #2.

Will: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 Gonna use Inexplicable Luck which adds a +4 for accumulated 22.

Casey - you still have your actions for this round to take... Noting that Figwidget has killed Pale Stranger #2 with his bomb - I will put that in GM post alongside response to Casey's actions

Seeing the Pale Stranger fall, "That's one freak show taken down." Casey moves over by Lector and fires at the one remaining.

Figwidget lets fly with a bomb that almost vapourises the dried husk of the gunslinger that had assaulted Nike... When the dust settles and Lector runs past, he sees that there are no more than three or for small fragments of the corpse lying next to a ruined pair of pistols...

Casey's shot is equally accurate - blasting a hole in the chest of the second undead...

In retaliation, the last gunslinger fires a shot at Casey... Before dashing to the south...

Figwidget runs forward to the conveyor belt. He looks to see if Casey Jayne has finished the last pale stranger off. If not, he will also throw another bomb at it.

Only use the dice rolls below if needed.

Bomb, including +1 for PBS and -2 for first range increment: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Fire Damage, including PBS: 7d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 5, 4, 5, 2) + 7 = 30

As Nike and Lector work to bring Tychi back to consciousness, Casey and Figwidget continue their attacks upon the hardy undead... A musket ball followed by another explosive bomb is not quite enough to stop the creature although, in an unexpected act of self-preservation, it is enough to make it flee into the smoke and steam to the south of the conveyor room...

"Well, it could have gone better... but it could have gone much worse, as well. The hot air and currents seem to have caused my sword to move unexpectedly during the assault. The element of surprise worked well, but the air and fire conspired to interfere with my attacks. Obviously the elements were not yet ready for us to kill the one in armor." Tychi says, stretching as bones knit and wounds close. "For a change, I wear more of my own blood than the enemy's blood. Obviously, I needed to learn some humility."

Nike snorts.

Male Human Cleric 14 | 60/101

"Mhmm." Lector says as he heals Tychi once more. He grunts in approval as the wounds close. "A defeat is not a defeat if you learn something from it." He pulls Tychi up with a strong arm and looks after the pale stranger. "I can't imagine we're going to catch that one. Perhaps you can on Nike?"
