Shadow Power Source?

I was glancing at my friends copy of the PH3, and noticed in the back a reference to the Shadow power source. Now I'm curious. Which book was that introduced, and which classes use it?

I haven't seen it, but I believe that the Assassin class on DDI uses the shadow power source. I'm not sure though if it is out yet or if my information is correct though.

Shadow is the Assassin power source and the class is only available via the DDI subscription. All the relevant stuff shows up in Character Builder, but my understanding is that Assassins won't appear in any of the player handbooks.

As I say, my understanding of the situation and I could well be wrong.

I think Rosey is right - the only one I am aware of is the assassin.

Yeah, thus far it has just been the Assassin, and it has also showed up very slightly in one or two other places - I think there may be a Paragon Path in the Forgotten Realms book that uses the shadow power source.

March, 2011, is when Player's Option: Heroes of Shadow is scheduled to come out, which likely will do a good bit more with the power source.

I have to say that book is already on my buy list! It'll be very interesting to see how Hexblade and Necromancer are done in 4e.

So everyone is guessing:

A Shadow Power Leader would be nice. We also have the Warlock. Hmmm.....Not Shadow power but Scourges have lots of Necro damage and temp hit points. Maybe they will give us a Warlock Build that is a Leader or has a Leader secondary role to help the party by gving them life force from the enemy. Kind of a Vampire channeller.

Being that I'm REALLY new to 4e, off the top of my head, I'd think Necromancer would've been a Leader. But, I could be wrong, and most likely am.

He leads the dead, true. But I think it would be like the Wizard (Controller) that uses the Summoner build. So the Necromancer controls the battle field with summoned undead. Or something like that.

Leaders help others with healing and bonuses and such.

It was released in Arcane Power along with the Illusionist wizard. The summoning wizard uses tome implements (amongst other things) and makes the most out of the summoning daily spells introduced in the same book.
