Zika glares up at the bird. "Or is spy." She growls.

Wis: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

Not even knowing that there is something nagging at her, Zika completely ignores the fairly obviously, and begins looking around for small rocks to throw at the bird.

At Narissth's comment, Shattertooth considers the bird seriously for the first time.

Take 10 wis for an 11

The ones who touched the log without harm got a package...
He sighs and pushes his way back through the barrier.

fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Making his way back to the brush the entire group notices that there seems to be no resistance going back to the beach as there was coming in (or at least not for Shatertooth).

The hobgoblin approaches the log and touches it again and is rewarded with a loud thunder crack and being thrown 30 feet away from the tree. A mildly discomforting stinging sensations in the hands begins to manifest as the hobgoblin sees his nails turning a dark brown/black color. The sensation lasts for a few seconds then stops. It stings but you aren't hurt...per se...the nails return to normal coloration.

The crow bobs its head as the hobgoblin leaves towards the tree. As the spectacle unfolds the crow offers a number of caws that almost seems like cackling which is then abruptly ended as the crow looks around and leaves its branch as though it hears something...

Perception DC 15, Everyone but Shattertooth:
Amidst the jungle din you an hear plants and branches cracking and groaning as though they are being broken or pushed through...

Shattertooth growls and shakes his head. Stupid tree.

Does that mean the spoiler is for me automatically, or for everyone except me?

Glom-Glom eyes the skull and nods in agreement at wise Squeeze Bits assessment;

"Long Ears half skull... indeed. Present from beyond? A gift... Where other half?"

As Shattertooth lumbers back to the tree, the feral goblin eyes him warily and answers Narissth's words:

"Half skull. Other half to be found... We seek half headed long ears? Glo.."

His words are cut short as he breaks into cackling laughter as Shattertooth tumbles backward;

"Heheh! Not too smart big mister hobbin! Biggun's heads in clouds... not like goblins and ratty eh? Heheheh!"

DC15 Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Glom-Glom's laughter stops suddenly and he growls warningly, teeth bared;

"Grrrrrrrrrr. Glom-Glom hear something coming... something big... Maybe we eat? Maybe we eaten!"

Zika's ears perk. "Zika hears too." Without asking whether they should fight or run, Zika scales up the nearest tree to get a better look, both at the surroundings and at what may be coming at them.

More dangers! Maybe Shatterpoop caused it! We might be under attack again!

Squeeze prepares himself to bite and gnaw again. He shakes his head menacingly while focused in the direction of what he noticed.

Shattertooth wrote:

Sorry I should have worded it better. On the beach there is no chance for you to hear that activity. I'll be clearer when that comes up again.

Squeeze sees through the thick foliage movement many yards away and though it isn't breaking trees it seems to be making fast work of anything else. The intervening plant life make it impossible to spot anything more at this distance.

Meanwhile Zika scales the tree and attempts to get her bearings as she scales the tree. The first few feet up provide little to no clarity. The goblin quickly realizes that there is a lot of intervening brush even off the ground.

The trees in the jungle stand tall varying between heights of 20 and 40 feet. Long vines and dense plants and flowers of all kinds dot the ground with very little in the way of game trails or clear ground noticeable. Though sun does shine through the canopy of large palm leaves and other more temperate style leave, the canopy effectively blot out any true look on the sky other than very basic sense of the weather. Zika would need to climb at least another 30 feet to get to the top to see "above".

Shatertooth ONLY:
The tree starts to whisper. The effect isn't clear nor does it seem to be "sentient" but there certainly seems to be the sound of a voice or maybe voices? Subtly emanating from the tree...

Shattertooth only:
The crow lands on the tree with a flutter and cocks its head. Danger This is the voice for reference.

Shattertooth chocks his head. Talking birds? This was beyond weird. Then again he had just awoken on a beach with a bunch of goblins and a rat.
Are you saying I shouldn't try that again? he asks.

Zika spits again, and climbs down the tree, jumping off the trunk several feet above the ground. Letting out a curse in Goblin, she turns to look at the others. "Too trees. Not see far." She cocks her head slightly, angling one of her large ears. "Still coming." With a frown, she looks down at her nails - shorter than those of most goblins, and less clawed. It was useful on a ship, being able to grasp things without them getting in the way, and when using a sword. But she had neither now. Nearly nothing to fight with at all. "What plan?" she hisses with urgency.

Apologies, had a bevy of issues yesterday and couldn't get on...

So Narissth is hiding and the goblins are...

Shattertooth nods. Of course the goblins would get in trouble as soon as I leave...
He stalks back into the brush and contemplates how to use the local vines to make himself some leashes.

Shattertooth:
Same thing as before, there is the wil save at the barrier, that will always be there going into the forest. At least for now.

There are technically a few seconds before ST can rejoin the group. So Squeeze and Glom-Glom need to give me next actions (as I already have a sense of what the others are doing

Squeeze looks at the crow with fair attention (for a Goblin, it means almost three full seconds). His left ear shakes, as if trying to make the brain work. Finally, he points to the crow.

To the bird! - he yells to the group - Plan is group at the bird! Then maybe cook the bird! With the wood! Or not! For now, group at the winged pock pock.

He starts moving towards that direction, strangely making sure the other people move first, and showing his teeth towards the sounds coming in their direction.

I made a move towards the wood, then readied the following actions depending of the trigger: if something hostile arrives at us and we still have people behind, I'll bite it. If the last of us manages to get to the crow before we're intercepted, I'll use my other standard to move towards that direction as well.

Glom-Glom attempts to hunker in some undergrowth awaiting his prey...

"Hallo." Zika announces with a toothy smile as Shattertooth comes back into the woods, appearing through the bubble separating them from the beach. "We die soon. Ready?"

Shoutout to Zika, the smartest of the goblins, who is too stupid to have natural weapons.

Man I lost a post! F+%+ing phone.

Shatertooth comes back to the jungle/forest and finds this time his head aches as the effect of the transition had some sort of slowing effect.

The hobgoblin arrives just in time to see a figure making its way to the group. Not yet close enough to reach (or attack) the creature is clear to see amongst the brush.

Standing 8 feet tall the creature appears to have hard armor plates like an insect but is bideapl like a person. Its face is a mixture of multiple insect like eyes, no apparent nose and a mouth the features a pair of barbed mandibles. Its hands sport four sinewy fingers and a thumb that end in long talons. The entirety of the creature seems slick looking as though its body is covered in a sort of oil. The creature has some rudimentary clothing in the form of pants and appears to have a backpack of some kind. IT has no shoes and its feet (though somewhat buried in the brush, seem to feature three forward facing toes and a sort of back facing hook heel.

Seeing Shatertooth and Zika before the others the creature offers a warbling bass laden cry and it appears it desires to move towards the group with hostile intent...

Not to diminish my own description but if you think to yourself "troll meets ettercap" you wouldn't be too far off.

Group up.

No weapons, so.

Kn Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Zika stands transfixed for a moment to see the oversized insect burst through into her field of vision. "Bug?" she mutters. She stares at it for a moment. "Clothes? Sack?" A frown spreads across her forehead as she tries to remember if she has heard of any such creature before.

As it screams and starts charging towards them, Zika growls, and looks up to the Hobgoblin next to her, wondering for a moment which if them was actually larger. Yup. It was definitely the bug. "Squash bug?" She says to Shattertooth, her voice somewhere between a hopeful question, and a tentative order.

and bounds toward the creature...

Move 30ft.

Well it was about 60'...its about to be closer...

Despite Zika feeling confident in her knowledge nothing distinct comes to mind as far as what this thing might be.

As Shattertooth's branch flies through the air the creature seems taken aback at being hit but not particularly damaged by the effort. Small flecks of bright blue "blood" mark where the branch made its impact but already in the chaos it appears whatever would led to the blood is starting to mend on its own.

Narissth manages to find a branch that would make an improvised club while Glom-Glom yowls and moves to close the distance.

As it closes the distance the creature brings downs its hands in a hammer fisted strike that rattles the little goblin to its core...Glom-Glom takes 18

It isn't until Zika sees the creature barely receive a wound, have it start to heal, and then absolutely pummel the goblin that she realises the gravity of the situation. She frowns in disappointment at the Hobgoblin, who despite being huge had used a small branch to attack. As she's trying to think of something useful to do, she hears the crow, and looks over to yell obscenities at it. It occurs to her that it seems to be pointing. Being smart enough to realise that it might know something that she doesn't, Zika follows the bird's gaze to the tree in the sand.

Is this the same tree as before? If so, she'll just grab onto it since last time it gave her things.

Narissth continues to hide by the nearby tree and watch the fight trying to determine whether the crazed goblins are going to continue their attack of this powerful . . . thing. He grips the branch/club and hopes that the others will retreat back toward the crow and the beach tree.

Sorry sorry sorry, crazy weekend. And somehow I think I missed a post or somehow hallucinated because I was on the site thu and fri and I thought I moved you folks along so I am VERY sorry about all that ..

Zika its the same tree. the only tree in the sand as far as you can tell/seen to this point.

Squeeze manages to work around to the creature and it seems like his teeth might actually pierce the armor of the beast but almost nothing happens despite the solid chomp. The goblin lets out a yell to retreat and the monster seems ready to take another swing at his assailants.

Technically Zika, Narisshth and Shattertooth all have actions in this round still.

Narissth will continue to hide, waiting to see if the others flee.

Oh, I was grabbing onto it then per the end of my last post. Does anything happen? If not I'll probably wait.

Seeing the wounds close convinces Shattertooth that he dislikes this jungle. He falls back to the beach tree with all haste, but not recklessly.

Sorry Zika, the tree is yards away on the beach proper while all of this is going down in the forest line on the other side of weird shimmery barrier so if you want to touch the tree you will need to exit stage left...

While Shattertooth decides that escape is ideal the rest of the group hesitantly stay. The large creature continues to swing and growl at the tiny pests that annoy him and it is now Squeeze who is pummeled into unconsciousness as a large backhand swipes him aside. SB takes 11 which puts him at enough non-lethal to be KO if I am correct?

The creature huffs in apparent satisfaction and turns its gaze back at Glom-Glom as the nearest target...

Party up. Once Shattertooth leaves the area he is back on the beach and can't see/hear the party. To the hobgoblin its nothing but calm "welcoming" jungle.

Devon, I withdrew. It doesn't provoke AoO...

I think I might have confused the issue with my narration in between character actions. SB and Glom-Glom piled up on the monster in round 2, Shattertooth's retreat and Zika/Narissth held steady at the end of that same round.. You posted what would have been round 3 actions but the monster went between your last action and this one now. So yes you wanted to withdraw but haven't had a chance yet. The monster hit SB on its action, not in response to the withdraw. Hopefully that clarifies? The gaps between my posts chronologically exacerbated the timing issue I think.

Is me making a break for it also round 3? I'm confused by your last post saying that you were waiting for me, when I posted that I was going for the tree last Wednesday, and clarified on Monday.

Bleh! Im like having the typing equivalent of cottonmouth/glaucoma or something. Like I'm reading and typing but things are notb lining up right. Really sorry. Zika is on the beach. Shattertooth is on the beach. Narissth is hiding.Glom-Glom and Squeeze-Bits are engaged. That is the status of things the top of round 3. Monster acts. SB is knocked out and...now continue round 3.

haha, okay, thanks for the clarification!
