reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 reflex for half, or avoid?

Michiko noticing a bit of positive energy being used to heal, unleashes her Auras of Cowardice, and Sacrilegious

At 3rd level, an antipaladin radiates a palpably daunting aura that causes all enemies within 10 feet to take a –4 penalty on saving throws against fear effects. Creatures that are normally immune to fear lose that immunity while within 10 feet of an antipaladin with this ability. This ability functions only while the antipaladin remains conscious, not if he is unconscious or dead.

A graveknight constantly exudes an aura of intense evil and negative energy in a 30-foot radius. This aura functions as the spell desecrate and uses the graveknight’s armor as an altar of sorts to double the effects granted. The graveknight constantly gains the benefits of this effect (including the bonus hit points, as this aura is part of the graveknight’s creation). In addition, this miasma of fell energies hinders the channeling of positive energy. Any creature that attempts to summon positive energy in this area—such as through a cleric’s channel energy ability, a paladin’s lay on hands, or any spell with the healing subtype—must make a concentration check with a DC equal to 10 + 1/2 the graveknight’s Hit Dice + the graveknight’s Charisma modifier. If the character fails, the effect is expended but does not function.

for her burst on the weapon becomes a 2d6 on a crit, its actually written on the character itself, so it is 31 damage, and without the last D6, it would only be 30 not 25

Guy entering melee range is a BAD idea with an AC of 13. It would be better (at least in my mind) if we kept a nice secure battle line. We have too many squishies in this party. 1 @AC13, 2 @AC15, 1 @AC18, and a barbarian that is partially squishie. It would be far better to use the choke points to minimize attacks on the squishies. Healing for 9 is NOT what Guy would be better off doing; I'd really prefer if he could cast a Burst of Radiance but because the battle field is so mixed up and because after one round of fighting we have someone who could die with one lucky strike he can't.

Do what you want to do - if you want Lizbeth to withdraw while you ready a burst - do it and call it out. You aren't being forced to take an action you don't want to.

edit: also - that sounds like a really good plan.

I just don't want anyone to die. That would suck.

Just to be clear, I am NOT criticizing anyone, I'm simply stating that our party makeup is more squishy than normal and a change in normal tactics is called for. Our ACs are frighteningly low.

Ok, first, the rust monster is only available on the raiders set, as a sealed monster. This is not used for undead crusaders. As such, it is supposed to be sealed behind a locked and magically sealed door.

Second, even if it were, the first hit causes half damage to the item, giving the broken condition. It is not destroyed with one hit

Third, as a design desicion, it should not be in the position to be easily drawn into this fight. Adding a CR4 creature to a fight that is already APL+4 is a bad choice, especially when the party is already struggling.

Remember we are an APL3 group that lost its heavy hitter when the Druid quit.

I agree, a PfE would be beneficial. It's just a matter of weighing the possibility that someone with 8 hitpoints taking 18 points of damage vs. a protection spell. When I'm seeing hits doing that kind of damage and someone around the threshold where a better than average hit puts them near -con I get real nervous. In that case I would normally go for the healing spell or a quick KO if I'm sure of the KO. If they are not in danger of being outright killed then a protection spell makes more sense. I think that I would have done the same thing had I remembered the PfE, but was interested in hearing alternative reasoning.

Do you really think this is the final encounter? Guy is pulling his punches and saving his Bonded Holy Symbol spell for the final encounter when he could probably finish this guy off with another 5d4 burst.

Question: Would Burst of Radiance do full damage/blindness in a fog cloud? It doesn't say anything about that in the spell description but I'd hate to blow the spell for nothing.

Sovereign Court

Map

Burst of Radiance would have to have a target to be used, but anything with a 10' radiance would be hit as normal

so for example if you Target Kern or Phoebee anything with a 10' radiance would be affected as normal

if you were to target Michiko, you would have an issue trying to land it directly on her due to the fog cloud

does that clear it up at all?

It is a burst, so is not targeted. You need line of effect tot the point of origin, but pinpointing will be harder.

We need Kern ASAP, with the the cmw wand.
