Galadan Teresthin |

Galadan nods at Wren's wisdom. The day had been harrowing to say the least, so a day of rest and relaxation seemed in order. Besides, he wanted to inspect the gift that the professor had given him a little better.
He asks to see the Professor's journal again, if no one else is looking at it, and cautiously flips through it searching for any further references to the Whispering Way.

Kevin Darlok |

Sorry, just got back to a computer, will be back and forth until Monday please bear with me.
Kevin sits in the study sipping his drink, staring at the chest left by the professor for hours. Until late he stands up and takes his package from the chest and takes it back to his chair where he tries to dwetermin what the proffessor could have left him.

Aldous Preklikin |

Aldous cannot help but smile sadly as he unwraps the Professor's bequest to him.
I know exactly what you mean, Professor. People can be so judgmental, especially when it comes to things that they do not understand. This will make traveling so much easier; Hastur is my rock, the one thing that I know I can always rely upon...
After finishing his research for the night, Aldous retires to one of the upstairs rooms, in preparation for a hard day of research on the 'morrow.
@Thod: Does the 'Research' roll take-up the entire day, or do we have time interact with the Townsfolk a little? I am not want to derail the Research - it is just that I am aware that we are still relative strangers to the town, and if we spend all day shuttling between various 'stores of knowledge', that will not improve our standing... Can we assume meal breaks, say, at the tavern, to allow us to 'rub elbows' with the townsfolk, and find out the 'lay of the land'?

Cassandra Blackmoore |

Cassandra looks over at the others as she tries to remember what the book the Professor had given so long ago had to say about this Whispering Way.
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
"There's something about this Whispering Way that is familiar but I can't quite seem to recall what it is. Perhaps a walk will help clear my mind." So saying she stands up, grabs her shawl and heads for the door, turning "Is anyone else up for a stroll?"
Once outside, she (and anyone else who accompanies her) will take a leisurely walk through the town, nodding and smiling at everyone she passes.

Yes there is enough of time beside research to chat and explore. That is the main reason I'm not wanting that you know everything on day 1. You wouldn't have to go town at all.

There are also some tomes left in the trunk. I will try a little bit slower today. There was lots of information to give out yesterday. Good to hear Kevin was able to keep up reading.

The number is unlimited at Prof. Lorrimors house. Other places might not take everyone or even could reject you. In this case you can always go back and research at the Prof. Place.

Aldous, Day 1: (Day 0 being denoted as the day of the funeral.)
Over breakfast, Aldous has a few tactful words with Wren:
"Since you seem to be doing so well, digging-up information about 'The Whispering Way', and we know that the Professor had a lot of tomes on that very subject, perhaps it would best of you did your research here, today...?"
He pauses thoughtfully for a little while, before continuing.
"I will go the Town Hall to see if Councilman Vashian will allow me to look through the books there..."
----------------------------------------------
After breakfast, Aldous heads straight to the Town Hall, nods cheerfully to the door, and requests an audience with Councilman Vashian.
Over the course of the interview, he will discuss town affairs, trying to work-out what Vashian's views are, and mould his conversation appropriately, with the ultimate goal of being allowed to look through the town records...

You are plagued by nightmares during your sleep. Most of them you can't remember - but one still sticks in your mind clearly.
There was a huge white wall. A hand appeared in front of it. A red hand. Looking closer you could make out that the hand was dripping wet - dripping blood. You tried to see the man (or was it a woman) to whom the hand belonged - but somehow you felt paralyzed - unable to do so.
The hand got closer to the wall - you tried to shout, you tried to prevent the hand from touching the wall - but all you could do was watching. Slowly it did write a letter in dripping blood on the shiny white wall. You knew it had some meaning - if you only could figure it out.
Slowly the hand was writing another letter. Blood stains everywhere. You tried to stop the person to write a third letter as someone deep inside you there was a fear - what would happen once the word was finished.
And suddenly you understood. It wasn't a word that was written there - it was your name.
Did the person finish the name, did anything happen when he finished. Your mind seems blurry and you can't tell. But the dream leaves a feeling of dread with you. When you reach breakfast and spot Kendra as well as the other members of your group you notice that you are not the only one who was having bad dreams. The mood seems to have dropped since yesterday.
The weather outside looks fair - but to you it only seems depressing and you wonder how the night has affected the town.
The group loses 1 Trust point - you are back to 25 and neutral - this means you lose the +2 bonus on diplomacy until you manage something trust boosting in town. This doesn't change the outcome of the rolls done by Aldous.

24th of Lamashan, early morning, fair weather, Moonday - beginning of the week
While sitting at a sombre breakfast you hear a reluctant knock on the door. Kendra opens the door and you are able to hear her conversation with a young lad - some of you might recognize his voice as belonging to Pevrin Elkarid - the oldest son of Zokar - the owner of the Laughing Demon.
"Lady Kendra - I was just making my round to the postiong poles. You know it isn't Wealday yet - but something happened in town and we have a special issue of the Wealday parchement today." His voice seems to become a little bit more reluctant - but then business accumen wins over.
"I made an extra copy for your noble visitors. This would mean they don't have to go to the poles. I haven't even finished my round yet and it isn't on all of the poles. It's just one copper for them. I will leave it with you and come later to check if the noble men and women did want it."
With this words he seems to be glad to leave again - leaving a special issue of the Wealday parchment with Kendra.
Wealday parchment
Desecration at the monument
A vile crime happened during the night of the 23rd to the 24th of Lamashan. The stone memorial in honor of the guards who gave their lives preventing the prisoners from escaping and thus saved the village in the night Harrowstone burned down got desecrated. Blood got spalltered all over it and rumours say that a message was written all over it.
Sheriff Benjan Caeller is in attendance. He has assured the public that no honest person from the town would be cappable of such an evil act. So who is responsible. Do we have a madman in town. Is the culprit from outside of town.
Sheriff Caeller has told everyone to be vigilante and to report any incidence or information to him. He has told he is in full control and urges everyone to be calm.
You can decide to get the Wealday Parchment delivered to the Lorrimor house for a cost of 1 cp (for one copy for the whole group) or you can read it for free at one of the posting poles across town every Wealday. And no - you don't lose any further trust.
There is enough time in the day to investigate and do research / mingling in town later. Aldous will have got access to the town hall and his research will be successfull and will lead to more information about Harrowstone.
You don't know yet what he found out (anyhow - haven't posted yet ...

Kevin
You spot a long bundle with a letter containing your name on it in the trunk. Unwrapping the fine red cloth you find a very fine scabbard in it.
Dear Kevin
With fondness do I remember your skill with the Aldori Dueling Sword. During my travels in Quadira I came across this fine example of a scabbard and immidiately had to think of you. The owner - likely a bandit who had taken it from a noble - was pretty upset about the form of the scabbard as it wouldn't fit his own scimitar. To make matters worse it also wouldn't fit any longsword which made it difficult for him to find a buyer.
I immidiately identified it for what it is - a scabbard done for a noble Aldori Sword Lord. The bandit was only too eager to sell it to me - thinking he had tricked me in the process. So we had a deal that left twp people happy.
To my suprise I couldn't find any coat of arms - so I never figured out who the previous owner was. As I couldn't send it back to the family I felt you might be the best person to take care of it. You will be pleased to know that it not only looks good - it even has some minor magic cast on it.
Take good care of the scabbard as well as of my daughter.
Yours
Petros Lorrimor
This is a MW combat scabbard (see Adventures Armoury for base stats). It will only fit Aldori Dueling Swords. The scabbard has a permanent Prestigigation cast upon it. It will always appear clean and a sword will also be cleaned if sheathed. In addtion - if you keep a sword in the cabbard for at least an hour it will come out sharpened (I need to look up where I found the rule about sharpening your balde and what bonus it infers).
Only Cassandra's parcel missing - I will also write up a few lines about the town and people in regard to Cassandra's last post. Aldous was getting ahead ...

Galadan Teresthin |

Although used to grim visions in his line of work, the dreams of the night were somehow significantly disturbing. He wondered if regular deeds of evil somehow prevented the universe from completely trusting itself. Galadan shook his head to relieve it of such fanciful notions.
He never completely regained his appetite after the disturbing visions, and wondered if they were in fact magical in nature. Still, he was able to sip some tea as he allowed these thoughts to ruminate in his head.
He returned his hat to his head and made his way to the Laughing Demon, on his way he read the paper that had been posted on the board. It disturbed him somehow, reminding him of the nightmare from the previous night.
He attempts to hide his elven features with his hat, hair and clothing, and slip into the building unnoticed.

Wren arises in the morning excited to show off her new Purple feather around town...and, of course, to see all her best friends.
Rushing to the mirror, Wren spends a few minutes with the morning preening and celestially chatting bird talk with Plume. It's quite a racket as Wren is used to living alone.
Wren spends the early morning reading her Mwangi bird book, seeking to absorb whatever information can be found within.
Know(Nature) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Entering the breakfast area, Wren begins to recount, in detail, what she learned yesterday about the Whispering Way all the time tilting her head so that the purple feather is always facing the person to whom she is talking.
I bet they are as delighted about the feather as I am!
* * *
Upon hearing, Aldous thoughtful request that she stay in (with her friends!) to study, Wren crestfalls a bit.
While she just *knows* how much her friends love having her around, she really did want to make her rounds around town to see what was happening.
To Aldous: "Oh, that's a good idea! I would like to read more and then I can tell you all what I've learned. It will be so much fun!"
To Wren, it *will* be so much fun.
To Galadan: "Don't worry Galadan! I know how interested you were in owls. I'm so sorry that I won't be able to go with you to the Temple, but I'll fill you in in detail when you return...then we can discuss the owls!"
Wren feels so happy that Galadan just *needs* to hear her speak.
"Then, later today, maybe I'll go outside for a walk about town. My friends are probably wondering where I am."
Plume doesn't think anyone is wondering where she is (as long as she is not near them) but keeps her beak shut. She likes her.
* * *
Upon reading the Wealday Parchment, Wren surpresses the desire to go see the act of desecration herself. Surely, there would be so much to gossip and speculate about if only she could see it herself!
* * *
Wren and Plume will again utilize the Professor's library to research the Whispering Way. Every new discovery will result in about 10 minutes of excited bird squawking between Wren and Plume and they talk about what they've found. Of course, Plume understands little and has nothing to add, but likes the attention.

Cassandra
You find a large bundle with your name. It feels soft to the touch when you take it out of the trunk.
Inside the bundle you find a green dress which would fit well on a noble lady. The dress has a brooch attached to it. The brooch seems of some older design - maybe 2 centuries old. It is in the shape of a Rose.
Dear Cassandra
From the very first day I saw you I was always reminded of my own daughter, Kendra. She never had a younger sister. I'm sure she would have liked it - as often she was very much on her own with only her father who travelled a lot.
I don't know what fate has planned with you. But I always saw a huge untapped potential. Life hasn't been easy for you. And lately I even seemed to have lost track of you. So when I started to get all my belongings sorted I stumbled upon this dress in a forgotten drawer. I was surprised how fresh it looked as it had been at least fifty years since I spotted it last time. At that time my grand mother did wear it to a ball.
It won't fit Kendra - but if I remember rightly it should be roughly your size. Please take it. I hope one day you will find it useful.
The brooch attached to it is part of the dress and has some magic. Never take it off for longer as a week - or the dress might crumble.
For the sister Kendra never had
Petros Lorrimor
Treat the dress as a nobles outfit. The brooch is a brooch of shielding - rulebook Wondrous items - with 28 charges left. Once a week you can tell the brooch to emit a fine scent (use stats for perfum, adventures armoury). This lasts for four hours and has to be taken in increments of 1 hour. The brooch also emits a weak aura of gentle repose. That kept the dress in it's current state after half a century. It might preserve other items - but it certainly is a lot weaker as the spell.

Stroll through town (Cassandra, Galadan)
The town of Ravengro is barely much more as a village with maybe 300 inhabitants. You get the impression of insular and rumourmongering citizens. Most people you meet are human. You also spot a pair of halflings and a single elf. The way the interact seem to indicate they are part of the the town.
The main part of town is the town square with a simple wooden gazebo and a grassy circular plaza. Enough place for festivities or a Market.
Clockwise - starting at seven o clock (the road towards the Professors house starts in the south of the Market) you spot.
A Forge with dwarves runes that might indicate dwarves ownership.
Jomindas Apothecary - you did meet Jominda at the funeral.
The Ravengro Jail
The Ravengro General Store
The Outward Inn
The Ravengro Town Hall
The Silk Purse - the closest to a bank that Ravengro has
The Laughing Demon is in a side road some 200 feet off the town square - overlooking the river.
While strolling around Cassandra manages to overhear some interesting chat between two old ladies
Jominda Fallenbridge does more than brew potions—she brews drugs and poisons as well and sells them through agents in other towns. Why else would the sheriff be so interested in her business?
The tavern is pretty empty in the morning apart of two older men. The main talk is about the desecration. There is talk about running out all dwarfs and elfs out of town, some strangers get accused and once you hear even the strange group at the Professors funeral might be to blame.
All you learn from this is that seemingly nobody knows.

Andrea shakes her head over the news "This is dreadful..wanton desecration and vandalism. No doubt they'll be looking for someone to blame for it and guess who just happen to be the convenient group of strangers in town"

Vashian welcomes you at the town hall. He remembers Aldous from the day before. He seems a little bit more wary of Andrea.
"Off course, off course I remember that I told you yesterday you would get whatever help I can give. But this is a small town hall. Too many people here would disrupt the important work that is going on.
So I'm afraid that the lady has to stay out."

Starring into the trunk for a long while you start to wonder what the four tomes left in the trunk are. A rich purple cover with a brass scarab is on top. Below it you spot a black jet book. The edge of a piece of parchment can be seen protruding from the book. It seems the same kind of parchment as your letter.

Cassandra Blackmoore |

In the morning Cassandra awakens and heads down to meet the others for breakfast. She offers to go with Galadan to visit the Pharasma temple "I've never been to a temple before, my village was so small that we didn't even have a church, just a small shrine to the Lady. Most of my knowledge of her comes from the book the Professor gave me as a child."

Galadan Teresthin |

After hearing the rumors at the tavern, Galadan slips out as quietly as he did when he entered. He returns to the household, intent on a moment of meditative silence as he contemplates the events of the past few days and nights.
He hears Cassandra coming before he sees her, so responds easily enough. "The temple might provide more answers, or we may expect some further hostility from the natives. I hope to find the former rather than the latter."
He stands again, brushing dust from the top of his hat (or was that an errant feather, Wren?), and heading towards the door once again.
I'm assuming Galadan and Cassandra are heading to the temple.
Before walking about in public, Galadan again attempts to hide his elvish features.

Wren, having finished researching for the day, and feeling 'cooped' up, announces her desire to go into town to pick up a few things and swing by the stone monument to see the desecration herself.
"I'm going out to the store, then to the stone monument if anyone wants to come with."
Wren looks around, always eager for someone to talk to.

Nym Vallidorn |

The Night After the Funeral
"Much as it pains me to potentially rub elbows with the quality of man who would protest a funeral, I believe I will spend the rest of this evening at what passes for a tavern here." Nym explains to the group while stowing his inheritance away. "If anyone should need me, I will be at this Laughing Demon." Nym leaves the Lorrimor home and walks through the streets of Ravengro until he comes to the town's tavern.
His sour mood, brought on by not only the death of his friend, but the disgrace at the funeral, is tempered by a strong feeling of nostalgia. The humble folk of Ravengro remind him of the small town he grew up in, and though he curses humanity at large as inferior to his own racial stalk, the memories of that long lost village are more happy than sad.
By the time Nym arrives at the Laughing Demon he has largely forgotten the incident at the funeral, his earlier feelings of anger replaced with a determination to uncover the truth behind Lorrimor's death. "Now to loosen some tongues and see what these folk know of this Harrowstone..."
Diplomacy 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 -whatever for being an elf. Nym reasons the pointy ears are bad enough, so he elects to not walk in with a magic stone orbiting his cranium. Also, he has 15 gold to spend on drinks.

The laughing demon still looks pretty empty. Two humans enter and settle down on a table near you. They settle down on a table and take out some cards.

Ravengro General Store
Goods of all kinds can be procured here, especially tools and everyday items such as pots and pans. Luthko and Marta Avanaki (male and female human commoners) run the store with their five girls. While the store caters to local needs, the Avanakis keep in stock most of the adventuring gear, tools, and skill kits listed in the Core Rulebook. While they do not normally carry weapons, armor, or magic items, the Avanakis might agree to sell a display suit of masterwork full plate (an inheritance from Marta's mother) that stands guard in the back of the store.
Ravengro memorial
Other than the looming ruins of Harrowstone on a nearby hill, Ravengro's most distinctive landmark is a 25-foot-tall, moss-covered stone statue that overlooks the river. The statue depicts a proud, muscular human man dressed in leathers and wielding a truncheon—a depiction of Warden Hawkran. A total of 25 names—the guards who died in the fire of 4661, as well as the warden's wife, Vesorianna— are chiseled into the statue's stone base. The memorial is a popular meeting spot for late-night trysts among Ravengro's young lovers, for it has just the right mix of tragic romance and spooky ambience without actually being on Harrowstone's supposedly haunted grounds.
Wren
The lonely figure of the sheriff is guarding the monument.

Andrea Greenholt |

Andrea wears her 'sensible' clothing for the trip to the town hall. She is determined to let Aldous do the talking but is also quite prepared to 'modify' the councilmans attitude if diplomacy fails.
She reads the names on the monument in passing and whispers a soft prayer for the dead.Looking up at the glowering building on the hill she turns to Aldous and says..
"I wonder why they didn't just tear the walls down after the fire..Just look at it..it looms over the town like a shadow.Better they should have removed all trace off it rather than have it remain as a reminder of dark days gone by"
She shivers slightly and moves on towards the town house.

When you reach the monument you feel it is exactly like the dream. There - written in blood is the very first letter of your name - a 'W'. But whoever did this must have been interupted as only the first half of the letter is finished.
You are really unsettled to find out that someone is targetting you.
Andrea
You reach the monument a little bit later. You see Wren hopping around it like an unsettled bird. When you inspect it closer you see the letter 'V' written in blood - approx. 5 inch high.

Wren the FeatherMage |

At the general store, Wren will browse the wares, not sure exactly what she is looking for, while babbling incessantly to Luthko and Marta. She will gossip about this and that, accidentally letting it slip about the manner of the Professor's death (hopefully not in front of the children...such things would be whispered face to face in a most serious tone) and the Professor gave her this wonderful feather in his will.
Wren will also ask if the owners will be stocking the latest Pathfinder Chronicle (Inner Sea Guide) anytime soon.

"Dear Father, It has come to our attention that the Professor had been convinced that members of some cult called the Whispering Way had become interested in something at Harrowstone and that his investigations may have gotten him killed. "Dear Girl - you have to understand. There have been disturbing dreams haunting all of town. People are suspicious here. I don't want to scare my flock by letting strangers in right now.
I'm also busy doing the books. So maybe come back another day, when the mood in town has improved."

![]() |

For everyone wandering the streets of the town.
A group of five little Varisian girls dressed in shawls and dresses are playing a skipping rope game at the side of the road. Each of the girls takes turns jumping in the rope while singing two lines of a rather disturbing song, then skips out of the rope to let the next girl take up the next two lines. The way in which the girls switch from skipping to passing the ends of the rope to each other to keep the whole thing going is strikingly well timed and well choreographed—and the verse itself, which the girls sing in Varisian, is rather disturbing.
The five repeating verses are as follows:
Auf das Kissen drauf der Kopf
Mit dem Messer ab der Schopf
Tropfen, Tropfen Blut so rot
Buchtabe für Buchstabe ist sie nun tot
Blut, so rot so warm schiesst es heraus
Füttert dick und fett die Fledermaus
Mit Hammer ausgemerzt die eigene Braut
Als nächstes gehts an Deine Haut
Trügerischer Vater lügt so viel
Höre genau denn Dein Tod ist sein Spiel
Put her body on the bed.
Take a knife and lop her head.
Watch the blood come out the pipe.
Feeds the stirge, so nice and ripe.
Drops of red so sparkly bright.
Splatters spell her name just right.
With a hammer killed his wife.
Now he wants to claim your life.
Tricksy father tells a lie.
Listen close or you will die.
You will need Varisian (or German) to make sense of them.

Aldous Preklikin |

The children stop playing the moment they get interupted by Aldous. They stand quietly and nervously — they’ve been well schooled by their parents to avoid talking to strangers.
They relax when you talk to them calmly and in a non-threatening way.
The most brave of the girls answers your question:
"That's here from Ravengro."
Seeing her companion being brave another young girl speaks out.
"Master, that is an old song, very, very old. My Granny showed to me how to skip and told it to me. And she is old, old, old."
You hear the other girls giggling and ignoring you they start again with the strange play.
Befriending the children grants you +2 Trust. Your total Trust score is up to 27 and you are back to friendly - that means a +2 for all diplomacy checks.
There are some extra XP to be gained figuring out the exact meaning of each verse. I assume that Aldous will share the song - therefore feel free to read the Varisan spoiler even if you haven't been around or don't speak Varisian.

Your visit and wasting of time wasn't completely without success. One story told at the end did intrigue you. Was it told to scare you out of the shop? Surely not. That seems something interesting to follow up - maybe another day, maybe not on my own, maybe let the others do it, maybe not at all as it could be dangerous.
They say that Harrowstone’s executioner still guards the execution balcony on the western side of the prison, and that on some nights, his scythe can be seen patrolling the balcony on its own, as if carried by an invisible spirit.

In the meantime somewhere else at the Monument
Sheriff:
"My lady, my lady - this is a crime scene here. What do you mean with washing it off. And do you think it is that easy to get all the blood off the stone. Look - how it has seeped into the stone. Ravengro isn't Caliphas where you might have marble statues. This is an honest and hard working town.
So - do you have any information. If not - move on - or I might have to ask you where you have been the last night."

Wren the FeatherMage |

"Crime scene? Yes, it is. And it's offensive! Is there someone on the way to do more investigating? Why don't we just clean it up? It'll take a few moments and then we can all go back to enjoying this fine monument without the blood."
Feathers ruffled, Wren goes back to example the writing in greater detail.

Cast Detect Magic on the monument, then focusing if there is an aura.

Andrea Greenholt |

Passing by on her way Andrea hears the altercation between Wren and the Sherrif and cannot resist adding to the mans wonderful day.
"The question you should be asking yourself Sherrif is..whose blood is it.? Has anyone in town failed to report for work, is anyone absent who should not be. I think it should be a matter of urgency to find that out don't you?"
"Now perhaps if lady Wren would step aside and let me have a look at the stain I could perhaps help tell you if the blood is human or not."
She bends to the task

There are no signs of magic. The blood seems non human
The blood is from a rodent - most likely a rat. Looking at the amount this must have been either a pretty large one or from several.
Sheriff
"Okay, okay my ladies. I will go and get a some water to get it washed up. Please stay here in the meantime and guard the monument.
Investigations. I was here and guarding the place - watching out for the culprit to come back or deliver himself towards justice."
He will be back after a few minutes with a bucket and some water. Despite his efforts it seems he is unable to wash everything off as some of the blood has seeped into the stone.

Galadan Teresthin |

Spurned by the priest in the Temple of Pharasma, Galadan also decides to visit the monument mentioned in the paper.
He sees Wren, the sheriff, and Andrea, both involved in a commotion, but instead turns towards the monument itself.
He asks the sheriff permission to examine the crime scene.

Wren the FeatherMage |

While the Sheriff is gone, Wren will cast Prestidigitation and try to clean off the blood all the while gossiping with Andrea about what she learned at the shop and going on and on about that handsome Councilman, Gharen Muricar.
If that fails, she will offer to 'help' the Sheriff wash down the monument by providing helpful advice and direction as he works and also describing other stains she has seen on people in town.

Upon returning to the Professor's home and feeling refreshed from her time out of doors, Wren will settle in again to do some research on the Whispering Way.

Galadan
The Sherriff mumbles something - but you guess this was a yes or a don't care if other people take over my job.
It looks to you if someone painted the letter using his hand and then splattered all the remaining blodd across the monument.
In the meantime Wren is cleaning up using prestigitation.
Sheriff upon coming back
"where is the blood gone. Well - it isn't my problem any more."
Wren
I had you earlier the day researching the Whispering Way with a 33. Try again 'tomorrow'. There are still a few without a roll today. I think I miss Galadan, Nym, Andrea, Cassandra and Kevin. Everyone - please correct me if I'm wrong - but I think you still have your Moonday rolls.
Not getting entrance to the temple doesn't mean no rolls.

Galadan Teresthin |

What is the monument of?
Galadan closely examines the monument itself, particularly the location of the blood letter (what's left of it after Wren's overzealous cleaning).
Perception (taking 10) 10 + 7 = 17
"I wish you had not been in such a hurry to clean this, Mistress Wren. I find it... fitting to the locale and the mysteries we currently face. Also, less resourceful persons might take it as a sign of guilt."
