I believe that misses you.

Marrisa Porter |

Stop yelling random paradoxes at it, Scott! This isn't some Star Voyage episode where spouting them will cause the evil robot to explode!
Seeing Tex being hurled backwards, Tex! Don't be a hero! Get behind some cover! Who gave it military hardware anyways?
She is desperately trying to make heads or tails of her Portable Diagnostic Scanner's readings.

Baker Scott |

Baker dodges a stray beam.
as soon as i can see properly again i'm gonna take out this core the hard way. we need to get it out of commission and back to work again as soon as possible!

Pedestrian's Toughness: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Oh, that's sad.
The HoloCore's Ray strikes her hard. She falls backwards, a pinpoint lazer burn showing through her blouse.

Baker Scott |

Baker sees that Tex is in no condition to help anyone and can barely lift his pistols, Marissa is busy running diagnostics and seems to be working furiously on getting the core under control.
dammit. i am not that kind of doctor. for pete sake, i'm not any kind of doctor.
Baker crawls over to the woman with the burn wound and attempts to help her out, or at least identify if she is doing ok.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

I wouldn't mid talking to you about it. would you mind if we continue this conversation inside, this was a rather exciting and i would like to be able to sit after all this hollabaloo.

Captain D. Abrams |

Sierra tries to slip away but the Captain stops her. Now where ye be trying to zip away to? Ye're an eye-witness lass. Now let's remain civil and follow the good Prauf here into one of dem lecture halls.
You arrive at the tower and enter the small lobby. Students and teachers alike are unconscious lying wherever they had been standing. Abrams raises an eyebrow at the mess. In-ter-est-in'.
Once you, Sierra, Abrams, and Saul settle on an empty lecture hall on the ground floor, Abrams takes an aggressive stance opposite you. Alright Prauf, we're someplace private. Now spill da beans. Did you or did you not whammy everyone within 1,000 ft of this building?!
He leans in closer. You can smell the cheap smoke from his cigar filling your nostrils. Your friend here filled me in on your background. Says you was a meta back in the day. Got awarded medals for fighting da enemy and all that. So i'm thinking it's ye that is putting da kabosh on dem that be protestin' your...kind. One of them insult yer grammy or sumtin'!?

Colonel Saul Kopel |

Saul comes to stand by your side. The good rabbi here was once one of the finest members the Mossad. He was involved in a number of minor incidents where meta-humans were involved. I did not say he was a meta-human but rather that he has been trained to handle any situation should it arise. Even meta-human threats. Much the same as yourself.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

I sit down and start to explain the situation.
I saw the demonstration on my way to work and thought nothing too much off it. People have the right to protest on public grounds so the rally was fine. that was until this freshman Sierra came up and was scared of the demonstrators so i tried to help her inside. on the way however i spotted the demonstrators trying to kill the resident meta Drake. I wade my way through the crowd until i came to the protesters and i gave them the option to stop without the police intervention and that once they turned violent the rally was now illegal. I then used my military training to remove drake from them and tried to sleeper hold the violent protesters in mask. a few tried to knife me but they missed. it was then that someone let loose a blue wave that caused all these people to sleep. Due to my training i have an iron will and was thankfully not affected, but it was not me that caused all of them to sleep. i would highly recommend arresting the gang members in the mask before they wake up and have a chance to escape.

Baker Scott |

Baker once again stares down the core, willing it to short out internally.
Hindered Fate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Damage DC18
Fort save for Daze: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
damn, that flash is still messing with my head, i'm still reeling from it...

Captain D. Abrams |

Abrams looks over to Sierra. The way I see it, you two are the only ones within the radius that are unaffected. So one of you two is the perp. If Prauf Joe here ain't it then that leaves just you. You got something to tell me, lass? Being an unregistered Meta is a serious offense. Better to spill the beans now and come clean.
Something nags at you in the back of your head, make an Insight check.

HoloCore FX 3000 |

...BzzZzzZtTt... tHiS SENTence i-i-is FAlsE....
The HoloCore spins wildly...and it's aft stabilization array explodes! It careens around the room before landing in a smoking pile...on your lap.
UnIt bEtA...NoT...aLiVe...
The last of it's lights spark and die out.

Marrisa Porter |

Better get started, sir. The museum tours start in an hour and you've got a lot of work cut out for you. I'm going to see to Tex.
Marissa helps Sean up and sets him down on nearby bench. His sixguns are nowhere to be seen. Oh, that burn looks bad. Sit right there and let me go get a medical kit. The company always stocks one in the car. Marissa hurries out of the room.

Madelyn Fourmer |

Hi, my name is Madelyn Fourmer. I'm the director's assistant at the Sphinxonium. Isn't that supposed to be the Holo-Cubic-Whatsit? No, nevermind I don't have time to chat. Just please get it running in time for the tours. Archy is really uptight about all the delays.
She stands up...and nearly topples over on you. Whoa! I guess I'm a bit more off balance then I thought. Maybe I'll just sit down on that bench over there.

Baker Scott |

Baker starts hooking up the diagnostic device to get the core restarted, blatantly ignoring Ithran.Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Quietly to Tex
so Tex, how in the heck did you manage to get the museum to let you bring a set of pistols in to work, let alone getting away with actually firing them!? that's gotta violate some OSHA or something.
I'm also curious to know what Marissa's feelings are behind her sarcastic comments to me and her concern for Tex. Emotion is hard to get out of text.
Insight on Marissa: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Sean "Tex" Mathers |

Shoot, I didn't think you had spotted them. Mind keeping it just 'tween us? Ol' Archi-bald will have a field day with me if he finds out. I use 'em for self-defense only, I swear. In this city, a litta self-defense goes a loooong ways. He grins lopsideedly at you.

Baker Scott |

you explain to me exactly how you managed to cobble together a mostly working AI holo-interface with military capability from nothing more than a box of the wrong spare parts, and help me get this system back into some semblance of a working order and i won't say a word.
Baker plugs in the main diagnostic tool and boots to the recovery operating disk. Computers 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
besides, i rather like the fact that you've gotten lucky enough to not get caught for this long. And as for having spotted them, dude, you were blowing wild holes in the walls; i'm surprised no one else came in here sooner from the sound... though i suppose we could have blamed it on a rouge holo-program, hahahaha
Standing and offering a hand to Tex,
The name's Scott, Baker Scott.
Baker grins at his own reference.
We've got some serious work to do in the next hour and i'd love your help. the more people who know what they're doing, the easier this will be to get up and running in time.
Looking to see if I can get an "Aid Another" bonus from Tex on my computer skill checks.
Computers 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Computers 3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Computers 4: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Computers 5: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Sean "Tex" Mathers |

Tweren't nothin'. I do a lotta tinkerin' with screen projectors and I've usually got a number of spare parts lying around. As for the military chipset, since you an me be pals now I supose I'll let you in on ma secret.
Tex glances around to make sure no one's eavesdropping. I got me a buddy over at Fort Barrow that sends me parts every now and again. They were just going to throw away this perfectly good, high-grade chipset! Now ain't that just a crime. Waste nothin' want fur nothin' is my motto if'n you ask me.
Tex eagerly begins to help you set aside the different components from the spare parts kit. Well, fur now we'll just use this here holoCore to cover my tracks. Later, when I've got the time, I'll set about fixing the holes.
Holy cow, nice skill rolls.
Tex stares mesmerized as you start to disassemble the HoloCore unit easily without once looking at the manual.

Marrisa Porter |

Tex is given no chance to argue as Marissa drags him back to the bench and promptly begins applying first aid.
Treatment: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 211d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Hold still! Tex keeps fidgeting while Marissa attempts to give First Aid. Finally, Marissa uses a hypospray on his neck. He immediately begins to relax and she is able to dress his wounds.
Leaving him on the bench she heads over to you a few minutes after you're done rebuilding the HoloCore. You take 2/5 of an hour so you take 24 minutes only
You're done already? Are you sure you realigned the stabilizers correctly? That miraculous short in the stabilizer subsystem will play havoc with its capabilities if not properly aligned. She examines your work only to have a puzzled expression on her face.
That's...good work. I'm impressed. She notices that you are still holding your head as if dazed. Oh, that flash seems to have some lingering affects. Here let me treat that for you.
Her hands are soft and she smells of that nice perfume you like. She pokes you in the ribs if you try to move around too much.
Treatment: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 The dazed condition has been removed.

Baker Scott |

Baker smiles warmly.
You smell nice.
Realizing that he just said that out loud, Baker gets a look of shocked horror.
Um... what I meant was---
He stammers around for a bit.
...uh, yea it's done...i've...uh...just kind of got a knack for this sort of tech thing...
Baker busies himself with tinkering around with the holo-core willing away the blush creeping up his neck.
Thank you again for fixing me up...I really appreciate it.

Marrisa Porter |

You should go take a tour when they start at 11. I don't think Mr. Louvre will mind and you can get first hand view of what's going on. I'll monitor the HoloCore inside the workroom with Tex.
You detect a faint smile on her lips when she mentions that last part.

Baker Scott |

points to Tex
doesn't go and do anything stupid in his condition.
Baker works a bit slower than normal gathering up the supplies as he watches Marissa out of the corner of his eye tend to Tex.
Maybe Risen Fate would have a better chance with her... He does seem to have all the luck...
alright, Marissa, i'll keep an eye on things out on the floor if you've got everything in here covered. i'll put everything other than the boot-core in the trunk if you need it, and if you need me my phone's on.
Baker doesn't wait for a reply as he picks up the equipment and car keys and shoulders the door open.
keep me posted on how everything is running, if you would, once the presentation starts.
Baker heads to the car, stows the gear, and heads back inside with half an hour before the show. Deciding against heading down to the exhibit on Darjekian history since his last experience there was less than ideal, Baker grabs a map and heads off to find Mrs. Fourmer.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

if i may interject, the blue wave that i saw, i thankfully got to see the source. It was from Drake, it must have activated when he was stabbed. Emergent properties are not rare for metas to develop. as for why Miss mesa was not affected, she could have a strong will, and it didn't affect her.
deception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
I think i might have ranks in that i don't know where my skills are at other than some in expertise. but due to the shapshift, i thought i had some in deception, but i could be wrong
insight: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
are we done here officer, Sierra should be getting back to class, i believe her professor was not one of the affected so class is still in cession.

Captain D. Abrams |

Abrams eyes you for a moment. Insight: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Uh-huh. Drake's abilities. Guess that figures. he looks over to Saul and exchanges a peculiar glance. BAH! Not like ye'd be responsible anyways, being an upstanding citizen and such. Lotssa friends in high places that'd be upset if ye was detained any further.
Well i'll go round me boys up and let the 'meds handle the cleanup. You keep on bein' that fine upstanding citizen there Prauf.[/b] With that Abrams noisily stomps out the door.

Sierra Mesa |

You gain Resource, [Medical Supplies] x10. This is a [Generic Part].
I've got to go or I'll be late for that field trip. Something about a museum? She glances guiltily at the intimidating Colonel before running off to class, dark tresses trailing with the sudden motion.

It was nice meeting you Captain Abrams. I am always happy to support and talk with the local authorities, especially when something as terrible as an attempted lynching occurs. i am happy that Drake is alive and that those hooligans will be given justice under the law.
I get up to shake his hand and see him out.
i imagine that the Colonel would like to speak with me in private.
Colonel Kopel, it is always good to see you, i hope you will be at service on Saturday Morning. We could recount old war tales aftterwards i you like. Now Miss Mesa, would you run along to class, the mob, while an appropriate excuse, shouldn't be an excuse for tardiness.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Colonel Saul Kopel |

***
Once at your office on the 3rd floor (You haven't made to the prestigious 4th floor yet.) Saul motions for you to have a seat.
It's good to see you old friend. How's your injury? He takes out a small tape recorder and fiddles with it. A red light turns on.There, now we should be able to talk with a little less...restraint.
We both know of course that you've never taken an injury at least not one that came anywhere near ending your...life. He talks with a certain air of concern. Are you feeling ok? You haven't seemed yourself. is there any trouble with the Rosenburg's?

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

i am doing, uh well my friend. Just a little home sick. but after this long life of mine, this time here seems almost as long as the time i spent in fair Israel. The knives didn't even pierce my outer layer. I'm glad that Drake is okay, those hooligans should never have harmed him, youth and its follies.
The Rosenburgs are nice, Liora is progressing in her pregnancy, but still works busily. They are a very nice couple. But about those events, you should know that the girl Siera was where that blue wave came from. She saw drake get cut and freaked out as well when she thought she saw me get knifed.
There goes another suit, by the way do you know a good tailor?. Someone who could fix this, or do you think i should just get a new one.
anyway, hopefully we can get this behind us, Captain Abrams doesn't seem to suspect much, thanks to you. i hope i have not caused you too much hassel my friend. I try hard to remain under the radar, your life is hectic enough without dealing with my troubles. thank you friend.

Colonel Saul Kopel |

I'm afraid I don't get to wear many suits these days. Even with the desk job I'm still required to be in uniform.
That girl was the source of the energy you say? Why didn't you turn her in? I must say I was more than a little concerned. He wavers a bit before deicding to go ahead with what he's about to say.
Joe, we've been friends a looong time now but I've got to say, when I heard the report that came in of mass energy discharge... on the university grounds...at the very building you hold residence at...well let's just say I'm more than a little relieved to hear that you weren't the cause of all this business. You remember when we fought the Knights of the Holy Relic or w/e they were calling themselves back then? Bunch of zealous lunatics with ideals of power. And that sword dipped in holy water pierced you?
You screamed. Oh, did you scream. Lightning crackled along your skin and then...you crippled the man. Heck, I don't know how you kept so much control after he got you like that. I got to see the true you at that moment...and it scared the gefilte outta me. If you were capable of all that then what other secrets might your construction hold? Saul sighs.
Alright old friend i won't bother you too much. unless you had any further questions? Oh, and do yourself a favor. Turn in that girl. I'll even see to it she isn't treated as a lurker. She'll be processed into the system and eventually she'll adjust back into society. Just don't hang for someone elses's crime okay? I care too much about you to see you inside a prison for 10 years.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

Thankfully this was not from me. And i do plan on talking with her and helping t assimilate her to society.
I don;t know if you know what the fear of being found out is like. It is crippling, especially to someone so young. you are too young to remember the founding of Israel and the horrors that preceded it. Fear is a crippling thing. i will turn her in, but i will try to convince her to turn herself in first. It will go better for her that way, and i can't cover for her again.
It was nice talking to you old friend, and no luck with a good tailor, oh well, i can probably find some seamstress in our little ghetto.
I try to be careful old friend, and i will deal with this issue further

DM_Lazer_Beam |

You now have about an hour to prepare for your stint as a tour guide. In case you were wondering, the Sphinxonium is having a gala this afternoon after the initial tours of the new exhibit. At this gala, there will be some sort of revealing of a "priceless treasure" found in the depths of the Great Pyramid.
Professor Archibald Louvre, the Director of the Sphinxonium, pulled some strings at the University and you got volunteered to lead a tour as they expect to be short-handed. You suspect that Merril Finch, the university's foremost historical expert, may have been less than truthful about his sudden onset of Dange fever.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

Shalom my friend
I pick up any notes about the exhibit that i would need, and print off any relevant emails concerning my position as tour guide. I will quickly read through any history about the exhibit so i know of the time period.
I go back to my apartment to change suits, writing a note to myself to try to find a seamstress. I prepare myself a quick lunch of cold cuts, and head out to the bus stop. With my knowledge of public transport, i know when to leave so that i could arrive a half an hour early.

Madelyn Fourmer |

There are already several dozen people inside the lobby, many of them high school or college students. A slim, bookish woman approaches you.
Welcome to the Sphinxonium sir, would you care for a pamphlet? The tours will start precisely at 11:00. She hands you a pamphlet.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

Yes, thank you. My name is Joseph Frankenburg, i believe that Maximum City University sent me to help be a tour guide today for the exhibit. can you please help me find the curator so that i can quickly learn more of the exhibit and help with these students education.

Madelyn Fourmer |

I'm glad you could make it. She rummages through one of the desk's drawers and produces a pin. It features a picture of the Egyptian Sphinx with the words "Sphinxonium" written along the bottom. She hadns it to you.
I'm afraid Archibald is a little busy atm. We've had some...setbacks with the display systems in back. Don't worry though, I'm sure the RoboCorp techs will have it back online in no time. She is quick to reassure you.
How much do you know about the Great Pyramid? Or about the renewed expedition into it now that the Lights have passed?
Make an Expertise(History) check.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

i place the pin onto my suit jacket.
Well i don't know too much, my expertise is on theology, not history, but you can't really study theology without an appreciation of history. lets see what i remember.
Expertise (History): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
I do not know what my ranks in that expertise are, so i am assuming at least 2, but i am thinking 5.
