DM_Lazer_Beam |

Baker, you are now Fatigued for an hour. Fatigued is the same as Hindered but lasts for an hour unless a hero point is spent to negate it.
You gain a +2 bonus to Deception for making Madelyn friendly.
You improve the above bonus to Deception to a +5 using Extra Effort.
Your new total to Deception is 12+5 = 17.
Madelyn seems stunned. Time...Line? She seems to be trying to take in the property destruction around her.
She shakes her head. Right, yes I suppose the police will want to detain this man for questioning. Please tie him up for the moment. I will call the police. She pulls out her cell phone and walks a several paces away.
You find a belt with several technological devices on it but all look broken. You also find the strange monkey-headed cane he was wielding.
Technology check to determine function of cane. Another Technology check to attempt to salvage parts from belt of devices. Also how are you getting the cane past Madelyn?

Baker Scott |

technology check to figure out the cane: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
technology check to salvage the belt: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
After tying up Dr.O, Baker motions to Madelyn who is on the phone and whispers (so as not to disrupt her phone conversation): I need to take this stuff to the data center to make sure it didn't corrupt any of the systems. If you need me, i'll be in with Tex and my partner.
Baker picks up the cane, the belt and a number of the broken components up in his arms as he waves that he is going to leave the room.
Deception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
As soon as Baker gets the chance, away from prying eyes, he is going to attempt to make another check on the cane (if possible) and if he can disassemble the key components to leave just a shell of a cane stuffed with broken electronics.

Prof. Emit Nile |

Emit counts his students after getting Franklin and Rogers back on the bus.
Alright well we all had an interesting day lets just say Everyone gets A's For the day, Even you two if you don't bring up the injuries to the dean. Emit addresses the students and points to Franklin and Rogers.
Sound Good everyone? Good now stay here i got to go check us out and check on miss Fourmer.
Emit gets off the bus and heads back up the stairs to go inside. Emit pushes his way back in to the museum to find Madelyn.

Madelyn Fourmer |

Baker, you are still getting the +2 bonus from her being friendly. The cane looks like an ordinary, if creepy, cane. It seems oddly weighted but you cannot determine why. From the broken equipment you manage to retrieve [Strong Electromagnet][Tech Part]!
She keeps one hand on your shirt as you try to pass by her. A thick bead of sweat runs down your spine as you are sure she's seen through your Deception.
Yes I said the Shpinxonium. Address? it's the Sphinxonium! Why would I need an address? Hold on...
Madelyn turns to you. I don't feel safe being left alone with that creep. Can you get one of the security guards to come over here? See if you can find a Mr. Nile. He should have been part of your tour group. He can help me investigate something that's nagging at me.
She lets go and turns her attention back to the police dispatcher. No, I said attempted robbery. Nothing has been stolen. No I haven't had time to check everything. It just happened and there is a mess.
Treat the Technology check to determine quality/function as an Appraise check (pathfinder verbage). To re-roll it you need a fresh pair of eyes or some downtime to examine it closer (this usually requires scanning equipment/diagnostic machines for equipment). To simply scavenge the cane's components I just need another Technology check for that.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Emit, you are almost out of earshot when you hear Rogers and Franklin start to chant, Teach has got a girlfriend, Teach has got a girlfriend.
On your way back you spot, Professor Fankenburg in the hallway before the dinosaur exhibit. There is no sign of the Pope. Just as you are about to enter the Dinosaur exhibit, you spy Baker hurrying your way holding the cane and some spare parts from Dr. Oz's equipment.

Prof. Emit Nile |

Mr. Baker a minute. Emit walks up to Baker and whispers if no one else is around and can hear. Now Mr. Baker We can take this two ways. First we start a mutual friendship where you keep my secret or the second the alternative is well you wont like that one so I say you just go with number one and we'll be good. Besides you are not normal either whether you can see that or not. So maybe we can help each other huh what do you say?
Emit hears Madelyn's voice coming from the room. Hands Mr. Baker his number and walks into the room.
Madelyn are you ok?

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

i go to dinner for 2 hours for my dad's birthday and you all post about 20 times when i'm gone, yesh
to make an excuse for myself, i quickly remove all of the clay that i have on my persons and put it in the refuse bin in the first Egyptian room. then i walk back to the middle-room and proceed to power-attack a fist on my own head, with the intention of failing the save hopefully giving myself a nat 1, so a total of an 11 on a dc 29 save therefore staggering myself. except a nat 1 automatically makes the degree of failure worse by one degree,so i think i should be unconscious with 1 bruise.
if the nat 1 does not make it worse by one degree i then do it again, rolling a total of a 10 due to the previous bruise staggering my self again, which results in knocking myself out with 2 bruises.

Baker Scott |

Not sure exactly what you're talking about me being "normal," i'm just an IT guy--
--but I'll keep your secret, you can trust me there; now I need some help from you. After that fight, I'm a bit more worn out than I should be and can't quite think straight. Can you take a quick look at this cane and see what you can tell about it? If it's important i'll need to disassemble it and replace the internals with these broken bits before handing it off to the police. If anyone is having the pieces, i'm not letting it get in the wrong hands.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Emit, need a Deception or Insight check. Use whichever is higher. In case Baker wasn't clear enough he wants you to make a Technology check on teh cane.
Joe, I won't make a purposeful fail increase the degrees of failure so you are staggered and at 1 bruise (because the other would have healed by now). To whom are you making this attempt at Deception? You will likely need a Deception roll as well.

Prof. Emit Nile |

Ill give it a look over real quick but i need to check on Madelyn.
Emit before walking in the room talking to Madelyn Takes a look at the cane. Technology: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Emit, it's likely the things you saw Baker do were in fact just a trick of the light. It's still suspicious that he survived an all out attack by a T-Rex but you have no concrete proof...for the moment.
The cane has a hidden switch in the base that can be tripped by striking it once on the floor. The eyes of the monkey head can apparently project some sort of energy beams. It has two settings. Activating the Monkey Cane is a standard action.
You receive [Monkey Cane][Tech Weapon]
- Monkey Beam: Blast 12 (single target)
- Strobe Burst: Dazzle 12 (Burst of light centered on you; All that see it must make Fort save or become Impaired/Disabled/Unaware)
All, this is a fairly powerful item. I will be treating it similar to Gamma World's items. In your hands it has the Unreliable trait so each time it is used you must roll a 1d20 and rolls of 10 or less means it has lost it's charge. At this point you can salvage it for parts or a lesser version (that you can spend points on to make it part of your character).

Baker Scott |

I'll hang on to this cause Madelyn knows I have it. I'll need to find something similar to hand over to the police for evidence, though. Have anything in mind? Otherwise i'll find something... Also, Madelyn is in the other room with the unconscious holo-Doctor.

Prof. Emit Nile |

Well Kid I better take this off your hands you not being special after all. I cant allow you to hold on to this its to powerful for the likes of you. Plus I can keep it safer than you don't you agree of course you do. Emit starts walking away with the cane.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

well, i never took damage, if the indicator says so i thought 0 meant i have 0 injuries, if 0 means something else then i just need something to indicate that i have none, i'm not too familiar with the system yet
as for my regeneration affect, it is too flashy for my liking, and requires a source so i purposefully removed them, i want my alibi to be that i got knocked unconscious by the beasts, so i am hitting myself twice
deception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Baker Scott |

Dammit, for being lucky, I keep getting left in the worst situations.
Baker mutters under his breath.
He takes one of his business cards from his pocket, and puts it in Proffessor Frankenburg's wallet, then (assuming Joe has a cell phone; if not i'll do something about this later instead) gets Joe's number from his phone to put in his own address book.
Finally, Baker finds a security guard to go help the professor, Baker makes his way to the tech-hub in the building to find Tex and Marissa.

Prof. Emit Nile |

Professor Emit takes his students back to the school then makes his way to the hospital to visit with his new protege Robert and see how hes doing. Brandishing his neat new monkey cane It really matches my professor attire if i don't say so myself. I hope Madelyn doesnt get mad that i left but i will call her later and let her know i had to get my kids back im sure she'll understand. Emit thinks to himself while he looks at her card she gave him.
lol Nevermind thought we were done but maybe ill keep this for when its done for real

DM_Lazer_Beam |

Some time has elapsed and both Baker and Emit are nowhere to be seen.
You can hear sirens in the distance and you notice Ms. Fourmer through the open doors standing over a prone figure. She seems to be asking him something in a heated tone of voice.
What have you done with the Director! Where is Archy! She seems to be frustrated almost to tears.
You get up, make up an excuse as you beeline towards your briefcase full of clay you left in the previous room. The guard continues into the dino exhibit to keep Madelyn from permanently injuring Dr. Oz.
You reach into the trash only to find that your briefcase ahs been opened! Nothing is missing but someone definetly searched through it, and in haste. Smooth fingerprints have been left on your clay. perception/Investigation check
You find a security guard in the lobby. His nametag reads [D. Mask]. You tap him on the shoulder and whirls on you grabbing your arm and pinning it behind you in one motion. Only a heartbeat later, he sheepishly realizes his mistake and apologizes. Insight/Deception check
In a deliberate tone of voice he explains, You shouldn't sneak up on a war veteran like that, son. It's not wise. Could have hurt you bad if I wasn't so rusty. now, what can I do ya for?
You tell him about the ruffian and that Ms. Fourmer needs back up. Well certainly, I will see to the matter personally. A curious glint is in his eyes as he walks away.
***
Arriving at the tech hub in the third exhibit room you see that various displays have been arranged quickly (they were covered and set to the side during your little bout with the HoloCore earlier) in a circle around the main exhibit: a large sarcophogaus made entirely of gold!
After knocking on the door, you are quickly pulled inside by Marrissa. What happened?! You were supposed to get readings of each of the rooms but you never showed up at this Final Exhibit. Instead Tex says you wandered into the closed Dino Exhibit? Did you find that weird ghost signature you were looking for?
She hardly stops for breath before also explianing, Well I hope it was worth it. The last tour through here before the gala, which we are going to, is going to be here shortly and we still haven't gotten the secondary program running yet. Here take a look, maybe you'll get lucky or something.
The display she shows you shows a subroutine called "Plan M". It appears encoded to recieve a specific wireless transmission. Tex chimes in, Nearest we could figure is that Archy was planning a little project of his own to be activated by remote when the big wigs get here. There will be a special tour just for the mayor and his quests right before the big reveal. Trouble is, none of us can get ahold of Archy, nor can we decode exactly what the program does or how to get it running.

You are on the roof once again transformed into your daring alter ego, Timeline. You feel childish about your actions taking the Cane and briefly debate returning it secretly after you've had a chance to cool off. Wouldn't pay to have the police investigate Baker when the IT specialist could finger you as an accomplice, and he had a legitimate point about Madelyn knowing about the Cane. Expertise(history) check
Your thoughts are interrupted by the sounds of sirens coming closer. leading the charge, so to speak, is a black armored van labeled S.H.R.U..

DM_Lazer_Beam |

You do notice that whoever made the fingerprints was wearing gloves. You notice one spot where there must have been a hole in his glove as there is a partial print showing.
You did not actually see Emit time travel (and would not recognize teleporting the tank in as such). You can make an Insight/Deception roll opposed to his due to the absurdly large number of time-related puns he made, as well as calling himself "Timeline".
You also must make an Insight/Deception roll agaisnt Baker (who will get to roll again to oppose you) to tell that what he used was truly meta human. otherwise I will have to downgrade your description to, "an absurdly lucky fellow who somehow managed to avoid being mauled by dinos because he was able to swiftly emulate my Krav maga." Ssupicious? yes, but not Meta human, Perhaps an enemy agent or at the very least a person of interest.
Ask those two in OOC chat to make those opposed rolls if you want to go that route.
Also, I have to ask: Are you sure you want to blab all this to Colonel Saul? You haven't seen him in years (which isn't a lot of time to you admittedly), he is your oldest friend, but he does work for the Israeli military and you know very well how any military group likes to take advantage of any information they are given. Especially Meta human's alter egos. Telling Colonel Saul in an official capacity, on an official line, forces him to tell his superiors. That in turn is likely to set in to motion several events that will make life very VERY difficult for Baker and Emit. They did just try to do the right thing and stop Dr. Oz who was burning students for fun.
I am not stopping you, I just wanted to be sure you were aware what you were doing before I made it canon.
Also, you notice that there is one other person in the restroom. Luckily for you, he appears to not have noticed you as he is in the far stall with the door closed. A denim jumpsuit lies on top of some janitorial supplies nearby. Guess even the janitor needs to go somestimes too... Perception/Insight check

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13 for the janitor
insight emit: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
insight baker: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
i would like both emit and baker to make deception rolls
i will ask to speak to Colonel Saul in a private setting. preferably near the army base, but not on official business. i will tell him all that has happened and it is up to his discretion if it becomes official. i am military and all information must be debriefed

DM_Lazer_Beam |

You remember a cane very similar to this in a party favor store nearby. It's one of those small novelty stores inside the old decaying Maximum City Central Mall. A new mall was under construction but the Grand Openin wasn't for awhile yet.
Colonel Saul agrees to meet you in an hour. Sphinxonium? Fort Takoma's commander was invited to their Gala. I'm sure I can arrange to accompany him there. Just hold tight. We'll get this sorted out.

Baker Scott |

Well, let's see if that gets me a phone number.
Insight for the Guard: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
something about that guard isn't sitting quite right with me...
Hey Marissa--- woa, slow down; yea I was chasing after that phantom signature and it looked like it made its way into the dino exhibit. We got into some trouble with rogue holos, and the problem sorted itself out.
Baker smiles trying to cover his fast-talking.
Did you and Tex get any of the video feeds from that room, by chance? I'd like to check them out if I could...
Hopefully they should all be static...
--wait a minute, did you say "Plan M?" Do not let that program run. Cut it out of the system and transfer it to my PDS if you can, then if you still need a program, make something up; I'll help if needed, but do not let that program run.
I don't really have time to explain at the moment, but we've got to use something else.
Deception to not have to tell Marissa details...: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Deception for Joe: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

DM_Lazer_Beam |

D. Mask was holding back. His reflexes were not those of a retired vet but one of a man still in his prime.
Marrissa: That's why I was worried. You had the feed fed through the PDS and when we finally got it back there was nothing but static. Did you fumble the delete button again?
Tex: Well I've got a little something I could whip up to wow the special tour but I got to tell ya I can't guarantee it's qual-it-tee.
Marrissa: Well that's just fine. I've got to change for the Gala anyways. Say, you did bring something...nicer than that right? It's a black tie event and with all of the troubles today I secured our invitations from Ms. Fourmer.

Rabbi Joseph Fankenburg |

Baker Scott |

To Tex and Marissa: Good, stall and replace it with whatever you can. I'll keep an eye from the floor, and fill you in later about the rest. I'm not sure yet what's going on, but keep your eyes open.
Baker heads back out to the front lobby, to stop at the front desk.

Timeline |

Timeline remembers a similar cane in a party favor store nearby. Timeline Quickly teleports and grabs the cane. Timeline looks at the cane really that much huh He opens his wallet and drops the money where the cane was, scribbling "sorry I needed this, here is what I owe you signed Timeline." The things I do for the greater good.
Timeline Ports back to the museum and finds a place to change and goes up to Mr Baker.

DM_Lazer_Beam |

While not an exact replica, the cane Emit has just tossed to you will likely pass inspection. It has a gorilla head instead of a monkey head and is made of cheaper materials.
You both see Madelyn spot you from across the room. She is being escorted by none other than Captain Abrams, the reknowned field leader of S.H.R.U.. He is known for being gruff and having an uncanny knack of sniffing out the truth. They hurry towards you.
You only have a moment to prepare before they are upon you.
Million peso question...where is the real Monkey Cane, Emit? I assume you have it with you?

Baker Scott |

Baker, who was in the process of heading towards the reception desk, looks up in time to catch the staff.
Hey, this is a pretty close match; nice work, and thanks. I wasn't sure if you would or not; I know nothing about you really.
Baker cracks the head off of the cane and shoves some of the electrical components inside, before putting the head back on. He then takes out a business card for Emit, and his own phone.
Here take this, and if I could I would like your information. I'd like to talk to you at some point after this all blows over. We've got some things to discuss.
Baker hands Emit the business card, and waits for a phone number.

Prof. Emit Nile |

Emit leans in close and whispersDon't worry the real one is stashed in an Ac box on the roof so its safe we can have a good look into after this boils over.
Emit notices Captain Abrams with Madelyn and looks To Baker
We better get our story together. So I took my students out to safety and you got stuck in the Dino room and witnessed Timeline single handedly stop Dr. Oz
Emit says while winking at Baker.
You got lucky with Timeline showing up to avoid the attacks and when he left you gathered up the tech this maniac was wielding. Oh and here is my card i made for my students to call if the need help and dont worry about bugging me I have a lot of "free time."
I hope this kid is as lucky as he says because we may be in hot water with this one.

Baker Scott |

Baker nods back
sounds like a decent story, I don't mind covering for you this again, we just really need to talk when this is all said and done. I want some answers.
Baker gives a quick wave to the two approaching individuals.
Hello Mrs. Fourmer, need a statement?

DM_Lazer_Beam |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

In the background, you see a number of S.H.R.U. soldiers dragging Dr. Oz away. You manxome pigs! You devilish troves! The eye will be mine! Do you hear me! I will unleash the Jabberwock and the Bandersnatch! Yes, even the Jubjub bird. You will thank me and worship at my feet! You'll see, you'll burble, you'll gyre and gimble by the Tumtum trees, you'll- his voices is abruptly cut off by the squad door slamming in his face.

Madelyn Fourmer |

Madelyn and the Captain approach you.
There you two are. Professor Nile, the most terrible thing has happened. Someone broke into the closed dinosaur exhibit, destroyed all of our skeletons using heavy munitions from an authentic WWII era tank, and on top of that assaulted me! She points to a nasty bump on her head. That kook they just dragged away had an accomplice, someone who kept muttering about "time" or something. He clocked me on the back of the head when Baker left to get help. Luckily, one of the security guards happened by and must have scared him off.
Baker, this is Captain Abrams of the Special Hazard Response Unit. He wants to take your statement and he's going to need to see the devices you recovered from the criminal.
To Abrams: This is Baker Scott, one of the IT techs from RoboCorp. He saw more of what happened than I did. He was checking our new display system for bugs when he happened on the culprit mid-crime. I assure you he had nothing to do-

Captain D. Abrams |

Abrams interrupts Ms. Fourmer. I'll be the judge of who is guilty or not, miss. So, Mr. Scott is it? Beam me up and all that. Heh.
Well, Scotty, you'd better tell me everything thing that you saw while you were in there. Judging by the scene, some serious shennanigans were about. But first, ye'd had better hand over the gear ye found on that loon. I've half a mind to put ye in cuffs just for that! Evidence department is already going to be on my back for the mess they have to sort through in that exhibit.
Oh, and Ms. Fourmer. Can you get that list of guests for those tours around that time? I'll thank ye from the bottom of me heart He says rather insincerely.
Madelyn hurries to the western side of the lobby where her office is.
Joseph, peering out from the men's room you can clearly make out Captain Abrams and his distinctive cigar. He talks loud enough you can hear the information above just fine.

Baker Scott |

Well let me start by handing you all of this equipment. I got a chance to check it out and make sure it wasn't interfering with our equipment, but most of it is shot after that Dr. guy who was just dragged out got K.O'd.
Baker hands over the broken bits he had taken from the scene, and the cane with its "new additions."
As for what happens, I can give you a quick run-down before I need to head off to help with the next tour.
Let's hope he buys it...
While testing out the exploration exhibit, the holograms became solid-light entities that ended up being dangerous to the patrons. The tour guide said he had seen someone suspicious duck into the dino exhibit, so after shutting down the holograms, the guide, Joe I think his name is, Professor Emit here and I all chased after him to make sure he wasn't causing any trouble.
We didn't see him in the room, so Emit headed back to take his students back to safety, while Joe and I started searching the room. We were attacked by the, then invisible, Doctor who knocked out Joe before bringing the dinos to life-like reality through solid-light holo tech. I would have probably been seriously injured myself if this guy Timeline hadn't showed up.
Apparently he had it out for the doctor, because the two of them started fighting, while I was left to fend for myself with my minimal self-defense classes.
Mrs. Fourmer walked in at some point and got knocked out, though I'm not sure by what; Timeline just told me to "keep em busy for a moment" while he put Mrs. Fourmer in that WWII tank (which I'm still not sure how it got there. Faulty hologram maybe?)
Timeline eventually managed to neutralize the Doctor and turned off the holograms, before I could be seriously hurt from rampaging dinos. Timeline took off with a quick "wam bam thank you ma'am" and left me standing in the remains of dino bones as Mrs. Fourmer came to.
That's when I tied up the Doctor with some spare zip ties, and went to check his tech to see if it was what had been messing with our equipment. Then I came out here. I still need a tie, by the way, if there is an extra one.
Baker pauses for a breath after telling the whole story.
Deception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Persuasion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Care to verify anything Mr. Nile?
Wow, identical rolls there. What're the odds?

Prof. Emit Nile |

Yes i can verify that the crazy little Man turned those holograms real and hurt a couple of my students in the process and he even seemed to enjoy it. I mean really what kind of sick bastard gets his jolly's by hurting innocent people. Oh also Mr. Abrams I don't know if this will help but after I made sure my students were fine I came back in and stopped into the restroom and I noticed something odd there was a man in the far stall apparently the janitor by the jumpsuit I saw but isn't it odd he would take his whole jumpsuit off to go to the bathroom and their was a discolored patch on it where a name-tag should be just thought it strange I guess but ill let you look into that being your expertise. Now if you don't mind id like to go Check on Madelyn don't tell her this but I have a bit of a crush and she said she got hit in the head i would like to make sure she is fine.
Deception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 To help insinuate Baker is telling the truth but i bet it is gonna suck maybe someone can give me some luck.

Captain D. Abrams |

Emit, you broke a ten so you add +2 to Baker's Deception roll.
Baker. I'm afraid your attempt to persuade Abrams does nothing to lessen the man's suspicious. You get the feeling he'd suspect his own grandmother of evil deeds if he found her at a crime scene.
Well that's quite the tall tale ye be telling lad. Would nae believed ya if it hadn't been though. Yer story checks out. But don't be skippin' town! If I find one iota of evidence missin' or tampered it'll be yer hide or I'm a cross-eyed gopher. Watkins, check the database for known time manipulators. And while you're at it, throw in history buffs and war re-enacters too.
@Emit: Y'don't say? Charlie! I want you to check the men's restroom. Look for any suspicious looking janitors.
Just then Madelyn arrives back with the tour list sign-in sheet.
Let's see here...Mahoney any of these names seem familiar to yo- Now hold it a second! You seeing that name too? Well I'll be a horsefly the size of the Serengeti, it's an old friend of ours, the Prauf.
He begins barking orders. Get more men in here, I want this place locked down ASAP. And whatever ye do, don't let the dang blasted military in here! They'll not be messin' with this investigation.
A definite smile widens the craggy man's face at his latest...discovery?
Now then you did say there was a Joe with ye when you was investigating this strange man? Not a certain Professor Joseph Fankenburg? The tour guide for your group?

Prof. Emit Nile |

@Captain Abrams So I guess im not going anywhere then, what about my students out on the bus will you arrange for them to be dropped back at the college?
Emit walks over to Madelyn and with concern in his eyes.
I heard that you were hurt are you OK Madelyn I was worried about you. Well it looks like im going to be sticking around for a bit maybe we could talk some more I Love having conversations with other beautiful minds.
Emit emphasizing the word beautiful as he winks at Madelyn.
