Errin Khass |

"Credits worked as an opening gift for all the Hutts I ever met," Errin says, trying to appear nonchalant in front of the Emperor. "Just how much are you willing to pay this Popara for the coordinates? And how ... creative ... should we get if the Sith or some other group tries to outbid us?"
The bounty hunter's eyes lose focus and a smile forms on her lips as she begins to daydream about turbolasers cutting through the vacuum, Sith warships disintegrating into space dust ...

Kaldo Vantai |

I have Galacic Lore(+13)
Sounds important...
Errin's right, credits work just fine. If some Sith get in our way, i'm sure we could easily...Kaldo pauses, a thoughtful grin on his face dispose of them...
Now, how could we make sure that the Hutts listen to us...
Galactic Lore: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

"You both have a funny way of asking whether we should kill them or not," Garrett quips, arms folded across his chest. "Which seems an inane question to me in the first place; if they're even aware the information exists, they'll want it as bad as we do. I guarantee they're willing, maybe even glad to kill for it." Garrett turns his attention away from the Emperor for a moment, looking at Errin and Kaldo instead. "If either of you wish to be more diplomatic, do as you wish. I'm going to kill them." With that, he turns his attention back to Roan Fel, his obviously robotic hand resting against his chin.
"If this informaiton is so important, why only send us? Our own resources may be sparse, but both the remnants of the Galactic Alliance and the Jedi Order both have ample reason to desire the removal of Darth Krayt and his One Sith from power. Why ignore potential allies?"

Gamemaster the Living Force |

"I believe the Hutt will be expecting more than mere credits for this information. That is why I am sending a capable group such as yourselves to accomplish any task set before you. My understanding is that his main business is smuggling so you may well be asked to accomplish a task such that he does not believe his own operatives can accomplish. As for gifts I leave that to you Rennah Mars".
The Emperor nods his head, "Yes, if you come to blows with the Sith do not hesitate to slay them. Remember though our resources are thin and you are all valuable to the cause. Your lives are worth more to me than the lives of Sith drones to Darth Kryat.
It is true Garrett that I believe this mission important, so important I was going to deal with the Hutt myself"...
Antares Draco cuts in, "Until I reminded the Emperor that he is simply too important and too high value of a target to do something so foolish, it is bad enough we are here even now and not on Bastion.
A small strike force that can claim independence for the Empire will be more effective and attract less attention than a fleet".
The Emperor chuckles and smiles at Draco, "Yes that... As to 'allies' Garrett, we have attempted to make peace with the remnant fleet of the Alliance but have yet to come to consensus on where to even meet. Do not forget that Admiral Stazi swore to continue fighting my Empire before Darth Kryat seized power, bad blood still exists there and I must admit it is on both sides.
As for the Jedi, I ave my Imperial Knights and they serve me loyally. The Jedi have their own agenda and I see very little hope of seeing eye to eye with them anytime soon".
Individuals who have done work for Popara or his reps say that they have been dealt with fairly, had agreements honored, and were paid on time, unusual for a Hutt!
Popara started his career as a smuggler and as a financier if smuggles, over 800 years ago.
Popara has built his reputation on his ability to be trusted. He lives up to the letter and spirit of the agreements he makes.
Popara has been known to engage in altruistic acts that on the surface at least benefit others.
Popara does not deal in slaves.
Popara employs a vast network of operatives but frequently hires outside of his organization to give him deniability or to test business associates who want to deal with him long term.
Popara trusts pasrt of his business to his offspring Zonnos and Mika.

Rennah Mars |

I doubt a Hutt is honorable or honest. But this one sees profit in playing things straight and that is certainly useful. Perhaps, if he is as greedy as other Hutts, we can get him some sort of delicacy to eat.
However, I'm glad to hear your decision on any possible conflicts. It basically boils down to: Get rid of the Sith if needed, don't antagonize the others if you can avoid it, but don't get ourselves killed.
And in a not-quite-low-enough voice to Draco: I'm glad you talked him out of going himself... No need to head into further danger if it can be avoided.
My lord, we will be going in disguise, to avoid conflict, is the Hutt aware of our actual allegiance?
Anyone who can disguise a lightsaber as part of a force pike, or something else?

Errin Khass |

"'An honorable Hutt' sounds like the start of an old Rodian joke, but maybe it's something we can use," Errin says. "Play up that angle, present ourselves the same way, paint any rivals as connivers."
"As for a gift, maybe some old curio from the Republic? Nothing says honor like the marble statue of some dead senator. Did the Hutts have representatives in the Senate?"
Errin eyes Rennah Mars' elaborate crimson armor.
"You can hide a lightsaber handle almost anywhere, but that suit's going to stand out like a hyperspace beacon. Better slap some paint on that before we go, cover up the red."

Rennah Mars |

I think I'll stick it in my trunk on the ship, unless it seems like we need it. Perhaps see if I can't pick up some cheap armor on a stop on the way there. If not I'll wing it.
I'd prefer not to repaint it. Lets just say that I tried something similar in the past, and the paint didn't come off too well.
She throws a frown at Antares Draco, and shakes her head.
I'm not doing that again...

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

Ace Pilot? I'd say it's worth it, if you're invested being the team's primary pilot. Taking it exclusively might not be the best idea, but picking up some levels in it to really get good at piloting would be a good idea. If I remember correctly, Starships of the Galaxy has a system similar to Force Training where you can learn starfighter maneuvers; those might be worth a look as well.
"Hmm... makes sense. One would think that with the emergence of the One Sith, old grudges would be more easily forgotten; I suppose I'd be mistaken." He pauses for a moment, then raises an eyebrow at the group. "How do you people deal with emotions? I can't imagine how awful that must be on a daily basis." His rhetorical question out in the air, he looks at Rennah's armor and saber, the gears clearly turning in his head.
"I could disguise that lightsaber easily, or squirrel it away in some hidden compartment to your armor. As for that, well... if you had the funds, a hologram projector could disguise it as something less noticeable. If not, it could likely be wrapped in garments of sorts, like a cloak." Satisfied, Garret speaks again to the Emperor. "If we're intending to travel incognito, will we have a call sign of some sort, a signal so that our benefactor might know whom he's dealing with?"

Gamemaster the Living Force |

Fel shakes his head, "No, he is not aware of the allegiance. Trustworthy as he may be he is still a Hutt and greedy, the reward placed on the heads of myself and my Knights may be too great for him to resist. Better if you disguised yourself, at least for the initial meeting.
Not that I am aware of Errin, they believe themselves superior to other races so I doubt if they would have bothered to send representatives to a body they believed beneath them. Certainly, if you brought something that spoke to their ego that may go a long way towards gaining the Hutt's favor.
AIU, the contact name he was given was Dengar, the name of an infamous Bounty Hunter active during the Dark Times. Let him wonder if you are scoundrels or something more. So long as you complete whatever task he will assign to you, I think he will care little for your true identity.
Have you further questions or do you feel prepared to begin this mission? I know I am sending you into the rancor pit here but I do believe it for a very valuable asset".
Draco smiles at Rennah, "That was not my idea in the first place..."

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

Garrett is visibly irritated when called by his designation. "Garrett, lord Fel. My name... my name is Garrett." While he calms down, a visible scowl still sits on his face. "If we're to go incognito, I'll see what I can do to disguise Rennah's armor and weaponry to look less... conspicuous. Otherwise, is there anything else we need to know or shall we get under way?" While hidden, the tone of anger is still present in Garrett's voice. Judging from the tenseness in his face, the irony of his comments on emotion aren't lost on him.

Rennah Mars |

Rennah throws Garrett a smile, as it's clear that no comments are needed on the fact that he got irritated.
She then turns a frown on Draco: "You just keep telling yourself that... Vengeance is a dish best served cold." She gives him a grin and then looks back at Roan Fel.
"I believe we have everything covered my Lord, at least that I can think of, so I think we should be on our way as quickly as possible, to prevent anyone else from getting ahead of us."
If no one else brings anything up, Rennah takes to one knee before the Emperor, before turning around and heading back to the ship.
Mumbling to herself: "Rags and some spray paint should give me a credible bounty hunter-ish disguise. Note to self: Check THOROUGHLY for strong solvent to remove the paint from the armor this time..."

Errin Khass |

"Dengar, huh? Was he the one with leprosy and a disintegrator?"
Errin shrugged. The job was sounding more in her line of work by the minute. Less diplomacy, more running errands and shooting people for a Hutt, which she'd done plenty of before.
"Better get to the ship, then. We want the Hutt to think we're competent killers, and competent killers show up early."

Errin Khass |

"Yes, go ahead and ready the ship, we'll get loaded in a second. So, the meet is on Toydaria? Should we prep hyperspace coordinates for anywhere else?"
Edit: Also, I updated my profile with a spoiler with the ship's stats, along with links to pics of the exterior and a nice deck plan. Plus, we still have 5,500 group credits if there's anything anyone needs. If not, I'd love to use 1,000 of that to have Garrett Tech Specialist up my carbine to add a +1 to hit.

Rennah Mars |

Upgrade away. I'd love to upgrade my Armor to give me some more Strength, but I think that'll cost too much. Beyond that, a spray can and some solvent is all she'll need.
"Please do Kaldo, let's get ourselves to Toydaria as soon as possible."

Gamemaster the Living Force |

Draco frowns at Garrett, "Watch your tongue, this is the Emperor you address!"
Fel places his hand up to settle Draco down and looks Garrett in the eye, "It is alright Draco. I am sorry my friend, it shall never happen again. Correct Errin, the same Dengar.
Toydaria, is where you will have your initial meeting, whether you will be allowed to land on the new space station orbiting the planet or forced to land planet side first I do not know.
That will be all Garrett. May the Force be With You all. Once you have completed your mission, send a message on the same frequency you received my missive upon and we will set coordinates for a new rendezvous point".
Kaldo - make a Use Computer check DC 10 (+5 to modifier with the nav computer) to pilot the proper coordinates to Toydaria.
Great thanks Errin, appreciate the work you all have put into the ships designs for this game.
Sorry for the long delays, brutal week. My posting should become more regular again starting next Monday.

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

Garrett scowls at Draco in return, until the Emperor corrects himself. "You'd do well to learn the same humility. Even Emperors can make mistakes, Captain." He nods his head with respect to Emperor Fel, not giving the same honor to the Imperial Knight master. "I'll try and make sure none of them die. No promises, of course. Safe travels towards Bastion, lord Fel." Garrett moves to leave, his eyes meeting Draco's before turning his back and heading towards the hangar. Once there, he peers into the cockpit, eyebrows cocked as he watches Kaldo. He taps the Duros on the shoulder with his damaged hand.
"Let me know if you need a hand with the coordinates. I'll be in the batteries if you need me." He waits for a moment, but heads towards the gunner's seat if Kaldo doesn't seem to need any assistance.

Rennah Mars |

Before Garret heads off, Rennah interposes herself quickly
Garrett, a word of caution. Antares Draco is NOT a man you want to tick off. He is the the leader of the Imperial Knights, and one of the Emperor's most capable and trusted advisors. I appreciate that you may not have liked his interference, but in certain cases, discretion is advised.
With that Rennah heads to the cockpit to assist Kaldo in the navigation, with the result being...
Use Computer(assist check, DC 10): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
that she is able to assist him in a capable manner, helping him finish the navigation more quickly.
Add +2 for the assist to the check Kaldo. :)

Kaldo Vantai |

Kaldos eyes narrow in concentration as he peers at the computer."I think I've got it..."
Use Computer(DC 10)(With assist, nav computer, and own mod): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Errin Khass |

Errin gives the engines and other systems on Fate's Emissary a once-over as Kaldo and Rennah Mars plot the hyperspace route. Satisfied, she stops by the cockpit as Kaldo readies the ship for take-off.
"Signal me on the comms if you need a copilot. Otherwise I'll stay near the gunwell to man the other turbolaser if we run into trouble," she says. "Garrett, you might stay close to the cockpit, as well, in case we need someone to man the shields or sensors in an emergency ..."
"Speaking of, we should probably discuss rules of engagement. I'm fine with a calm and careful approach if we run into Jedi, or even representatives from one of the syndicates. But if we come across Sith, I think we hit 'em with everything we've got, no waiting around for them to draw first. We're not going to gain anything by talking, and I don't see the point of giving them the chance to pull some black magic when we could have vaporized them on sight."

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

"I'm well aware of the man's position, Rennah. The difference is, that man is too honorable to do something about it." Garrett slides open the door to the gunner battery, leaning against the door frame. "Draco won't cross me, no matter how much he dislikes me. He's too attached to his personal honor. Draco, deep down, is a good person. Me? Not so much." He grins, but the predatory look in his eyes is blatant. He looks at Errin, and the grin is replaced with a no-nonsense expression.
"I'll do what I can. If need be, I'll move forward to take control of the shields." He kicks off the wall, standing up straight. "Any Jedi we run into won't know who we're working for, and I see no reason not to make them into unwitting allies. They might not work with Fel, but that doesn't mean they won't work with us. As for the Sith, well..." Garrett trails off, the predatory grin coming back to his face. "Well, I'll keep an eye out for a sniper nest on our way in."

Gamemaster the Living Force |

The coordinates are set by Kaldo who believes the trip should take no more than three days to complete.
If you wish to further RP go ahead and do so. If you are looking to move forward post READY.

Rennah Mars |

Keep an eye out for landmines as well. I do not trust the Sith.
As for Rules of Engagement? I'm fine with giving our opponents one opportunity to surrender or peaceful negotiations. With the Sith though, I'm more inclined to shoot first and ask questions later. I'd like to try and take prisoners though. And under no circumstances will the be any shooting at innocents or escape pods.
Someone tried that on ME once, and I did not enjoy the experience. Neither did they, once I was finished with them.

Kaldo Vantai |

Kaldo's mouth twitches into a smile as Errin jokes about the shooting of innocents. Aye,aye captain. And Garret? Is there anyway you can make my blaster carbine here Kaldo lets go of the controls for a brief second and picks up his weapon, only to put it down and continue talking a bit lighter?
Ready

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

"Lighter? Hmm... I'll take a look, no promises though." He takes the carbine in hand, setting it aside as he scrounges through materials. "Yeah, I think I can make it work. I'll see if I can mess around with the power couplings too... should give you a steadier shot. It's gonna take me a while, though. Maybe two days? I'll get it back to you then." He turns to head inside the gunnery room, but pokes his head back out after a moment. "It'll cost less in materials if I pick up some things once we're planetside, and it'll probably be easier to boot. I can do it now, or work on it later; your choice."
Mechanics; Miniaturized (DC 25): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Mechanics; +1 Attack (DC 20): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
This would take two days to complete in full, and cost 2,000 credits.
Ready.

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

"I can work on it myself, it's not a problem. I'll pick up some parts on Toydaria, it'll save you some credits and save me some time." Garrett picks up the carbine again, looking it over a few times. "I'll draw up some plans, pick up some spare parts planetside. Besides, it's probably best if you stay up towards the cockpit. Don't want us running afoul of any trouble while you're back here with me."

Gamemaster the Living Force |

I will be updating the thread no later than tomorrow night for your arrival at the meeting.

Gamemaster the Living Force |

You arrive in Huttspace in three short days ready to fulfill your duty to the Emperor. As you exit hyperspace you begin to circle the planet. From space the planet appears murky in some spots with other splotches of greenish tint.
It is not easy to ascertain if there are any cities on the surface. In orbit there is a space station still under construction but which has light spaceship traffic so it is at least partially operational. Your presence here is either ignored or undetected as no officials have attempted to hail you on any frequencies yet.
Make a Knowledge Galactic Lore check to see what you know of this planet.

Rennah Mars |

No Knowledge Galactic Lore for me, so here is my untrained roll
Knowledge Galactic Lore: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Not a bad roll really.
Rennah reaches over to the communications array and opens up one of the hailing frequencies to the station.
We're here as agreed with Poggara the Hutt. Which docking bay can we land in, and can you arrange someone to take us to him on landing?

Errin Khass |

"Propara the Hutt, not Poggara," Errin says, once the comm channel is closed. "That's alright though - we're supposed to be dumb bounty hunters, anyway. Maybe jut out your jaw and cross your eyes when we land, to keep in character."
We still get to add ability mod + 1/2 level to untrained skills, right? Untrained Galactic Lore: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 4 = 12

Rennah Mars |

"Actually it's Poppara, but yes I did do that on purpose. Either we will have someone correcting me on the name, in which case we won't have to bother with bribing some flunkey as to whether he's here, OR they won't have a clue as to who I'm taking about. In that case the Hutt is likely incognito or hiding well. And in that case we don't blow the cover."
Rennah leaned back in her seat thinking hard.
"You know, I don't like the fact that the station isn't complete. It's not like Hutts to give up their luxury. I wonder what the scanners can tell us about the station and surrounding ships."
Reaching over, she flipped a few switches on the sensor array.
Use Computer: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |

"I'm gonna guess I'll be doing the talking? I know the rest of you don't exactly have uh... a way with words." Garrett again leans on the edge of doorway, already suited up to hit the ground. "I doubt the Hutt's here incognito, but I've seen stranger things. Either way, if you all want to play the dumb brutes I can get what we need out of him. Sound good?"
Knowledge (Galactic Lore; Untrained)[/dice: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Kaldo Vantai |

Knowledge (Galactic Lore): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
"Not all bounty hunters, are big, dumb brutes" Kaldo says, shouldering his jetpack, and remembering tales of the legendary Boba Fett

AIU-066; "Garrett Liantin" |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"No, but that seems about what we're going for, doesn't it?" Garrett motions to Rennah, and smirks. "Proggara the Hutt isn't exactly the mark of a genius, after all. They'll be suspicious at that point, and that's the last thing we need a Hutt to be about us. We ought to keep consistent, at least until he's connected enough to us that he can't do much about it."
