Whose turn is it? I've lost track, and we still don't know if our actions succeeded or not. Could we have an update please?

I think I had Roland's action out to round 5. But an update would be good. If a player still needs to post, maybe a reminder would help. They may not realize it (especially if it is me! :0)

I just wanted to remind everyone we are running fairly low on time, (for how far we seem to have gotten anyway). The deadline is Jan 4th, and the holidays are coming up. We might want to really start pushing this along. :)

Thanks for the reminder Beckett. I believe we can do it, except if some drop out over the holiday week for longer time. I´ll try to hurry it a bit.

Shadow Lodge

||CORE Rotating DM ||Fingerprints||King Xeros ||Serpent's Skull||

I didn't mean that as an accusation in any way, just a reminder. :)

No problem.

You get some hours to come up with a solution.
If not i´m gonna hurry it a bit^^

Since i guess many won´t be here in the christmas week, i´ll hurry this a bit further, so we can eventually finish before christmas.

I'm fully following along, but I really have no capacity for social encounters, so I'm basically just sitting back. That, and only Maxime and Rysalius actually have any idea what's going on, in character, between their side talks and whatever they found in her room. So I don't want to metagame what my character (or I) does not know.

To be honest, I'm as lost as you are. With such a slow rythme of play, I don't have any idea about what's going on either... That being said, you can assume we told you of our findings in her room. That isn't meta gaming, it's just assuming so that we don't have to repeat everything all the time.

I've been in games where that's not true at all, so I wasn't going to assume we all knew by default, but if we all shared info at some point, that's fine. My character is not particularly smart or political cunning, (I clearly brought the wrong character to this scenario).

Maxime is Paladin, she's honest and truthfull. So she shared her knowledge with all of her comrades.

To resume the situation.

We came to Sauerton to find the missing daughter of Consul Andares in hope to gain financial help for the 5th Crusade and our expedition to the lost Sky City.

The Consul don't want to help us find his missing daughter in fear of the captors retribution.
But in Thalia's room we found papers incriminating her father in some political plot against the "Common Rules" of the Republic.

Thanks to Wystorn Telfyr "visions" and Captain Demrik we found the building where Thalias was held captive. After a short fight, we found that his captor was a Galtan man believing Thalia is an escaping noble woman from Galt. After speaking to him and free Thalia he gave us some informations and a stained piece of paper where his partner tell him what and how to do the capture.

Thalia looked at the paper and found some stained mark from alchemical element. As there is only one Alchemical shop we go there. After a short fight against dogs we are welcome by a young man named Barnabas then by an ederly half-elf Koriana.

Well most PbP go 1-2 posts a day. So the pace isn´t that bad. Sorry if you feel otherwise.

This encounter can be solved totally peacefully if you wish and i run it as written. The majority of the information comes at the end.

Don´t forget freeing Thalia is actually just your second goal there.

Just to add, this isn´t necessarily your typical mission. Season 5 changed a lot, missions are more dramatic and plots and ongoings in the surroundings play a much larger role. I tried my best to bring the story up without spoilering it or making it too obvious.
Maxime´s approach is quite good, Sherlock would be proud of her. Yet you want to think this through again, there might be points missing.

I think they meant that Play By Posts in general have a slower rhythm of play. This one is a bit slower, but not outside of the average norm I think, and being a socio-political intrigue does make it a bit difficult for PbP's natural slower progression. And I do agree that most of Season 5 has really changed the dynamic of play, and I am sort of not liking the direction in general. I had really high hopes for Season 5, going to Mendev and doing cool stuff, but so far it's been a let down, in my opinion. Not the DM's fault at all, just kind of the way that this scenario and the Season have turned out. I ran Glass River Rescue via PbP and it ran just terrible, and kind of boring, no matter what I tried to do.

I think a lot of it has to do with Class and Build. Season 5 has really been overly favoring Social and Skill heavy characters, and there have been a lot of complaints from others who are basically just sitting on the sidelines because almost the entirety of Season 5 has shifted playstyle and expectations so much, they can't really contribute meaningfully. So far for this one, (first time I have built this type of character), I don't feel that anything would have changed at all if I hadn't even been playing at all. I have not been able to matter at all in combat either of the combats we have had, I can't really use any skills and the few times I have, I've rolled far too low to even count for anything. But, it's all a matter of opinion, and I'm just making an observation on my experience, not really complaining.

I know :) In earlier seasons I played a lot of skillfull characters !

It´s actually about the way scenarios are written too.
I like the change, but it needs to change further.
It´s just written like before, which is not suitable for this kind of scenario. The informations about the underlying plot are cut in pieces all over the book in small sentences and it´s actually quite some work to get it straight. It falls and stands with some little hints.
There are surely better ways to do this scenario than i did so far and next time i would do some little things different, but that´s difficult to know when you run it for the first time.
I think it needs more scripting, because Thalia for example, which containts important information, is just up to GM´s roleplaying.

You are right with some points Thor, Glass river rescue is really difficult to play. One needs to be able to summarize really good and still keep tension. Then at the same time you need to communicate the needs and threats of that scenario while not spoilering it.
Some players might get it, others not. Which will then either lead to boredom or a fail.

Then there is the growing discrepancy between classes.
Either you fight or you talk. Being good at both is difficult, so most times someone feels like the fifth wheel.

But what i really like is the world background taking on a greater role. You can´t just go anywhere and kill everything now, it has consequences. You need to think when or whom to fight and why. The story becomes more than just combat after combat and players participate more. That is a good developement i think.

I´m sure there will be more scenarios with cobat versus demons later.

I agree with you Maxime, from what I've seen, season 5 is great. I enjoyed playing through the Glass River Rescue (though our party wasn't too good at diplomacy), and the Confirmation is an amazing scenario. This one is also a great one, as I sense a moral conflict coming up. What I like most is the level of complexity rising, as well as more roleplay.

My only disappointment is about the rythm of posting, which makes it hard to remember all the elements of an investigation (all the PbPs I took part in had a rhythm of about 1 post per day per player/GM). That being said, I think you're doing a good job GM Farmagnuðr, looking forward to see this through!

Again, just an opinion, but have you notice that it is pretty much the Maxine and Rysalius show for most of this one? Anyway, I didn't really want to get into that, :) or give the impression I'm hating the game, so I'll drop it.

What I was trying to say is that I'm checking in multiple times a day most days, I just don't really have much I can do to contribute to what is going on, (especially without dipping into what I think is out of character knowledge or metagaming), so it's not that, (for me at least) slow posting as waiting for a chance for something to do.

Roleplaying is always a solution and a strong contribution Thor!
Also you don´t need to be able to solve things alone.
Just imagine the dwarf standing behind or next to someone and saying:
"Yeah listen to her/him, she´s got a point" and nodding.
That´s a great aid another ;)

This is a group and team game and that´s very important. Also for this scenario, seems like your characters will need to discuss out a solution^^
Take a close look at your characters and play them according to what´s written there hehe.

You can still ask Thalia and Koriana more questions regarding the outcomes if you wish, trying to make the best deal for yourself and the Society.

I provided all information given in the scenario now.
We can either roleplay on or you come to a conclusion what to do soon.

Note i probably won´t be able to post from 24.-26./27..

I'm okay with coming to a conclusion. It's not my choice, but I think that the group's vote is to turn in the father.

Pro Thalia= turning in the father.
Pro Tercio (father)= hand over Thalia.

Decide for one please.

Still finishing the thesis. Got 4 weeks left, so lenty to do.

The scenario depends on you finding several things, but with your Perception skills and taking ten it´s no deal. Also you have Thalia alive and cooperative, found the hidden stuff in the old house and got Koriana.

Handing in Thalia is nearly the same. If you would not have found some stuff and not hand her in, Tercio would not be in prison, but free and give you trouble later on. There is room for improving that.

My guess is this will have influence in later scenarios.

Uh sorry to be disruptive, but the Game Day report sheet asks for your real names etc.

Could you please all do a post with:

That would be supercool-
