Farrokh nods his head and moves to flank you and provide any cover from any unforseen threat. However, when he notes Red's magic you see that he is visibly unnerved - clearly the presence of a witch in your party using magic to halt threats is something to be feared and studied, at best...

Patenemheb Sitayet wrote:
@Dain: Are these results affected by the darkness?

You believe so; at least, where you are currently standing is dark and you think that will help - the places where the enemy is heavily congregating are now well-lit by brighter firelight, so that means when you get closer to them it will be easier to spot you, but it's also easier for you to see their movement. However; where Ala and Samir are is definitely affected by the darkness.

At this time Samir swings his blade at the guard nearest to him who doesn't seem to notice Samir...

Attack on Flat-Footed Guard

Plus Sneak Attack
1d6 ⇒ 6

He then moves up and forward into the north.

Meanwhile, Tairin splits from Red and pushes forward to get a better view of the situation while still using the trees to aid in her Stealth.

Farrokh steps on a branch, unfortunately, and a loud, choked scream from the brush can be heard somewhere in the direction you think Samir has gone.

However, before this can be determined you see him crashing loudly from the trees to rush into a wide, open spot away from cover.

While this has the problem of drawing the enemy to Samir, it has the advantage of creating a distraction...

Enemy Turn

The bulk of the northern enemies go moving hard and fast to where the witch is. Unfortunately for them, they rushed so quickly that they will be able to do little more than advance at this time.

One of the Zadjites has gone with their group - another moved directly south to see to the condition of the fallen guard; the third moves with the two guards south to advance toward the men now surrounding Samir with their spears.

Those two men have the ability to attack with Reach Weapons and are now formally surrounding Samir.

Guard 1 attacks
1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 = 20

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

And Guard 2 attacks
1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 = 19

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Meanwhile, the three Zadjites on the map split up - one rushing north to check on the slaves, one rushing due west to aid the men close to Red and the third moving more cautiously to the fire as if prepared to analyze the situation and act on it on his next turn...

EDIT: Both guards are successful with their thrusts and is able to stab a heavy wound in Samir's side which makes him cry out in pain.

Bjoern - based on the map it seems you just attacked Samir. I have no idea why you would attack him; especially as there are quite a few enemies that were closer to you and who are also in a better position to hit your friends on their turn.

I still can't figure out why you intended do that; however, your hit was successful and you just dealt Samir another 8 Damage while ignoring the Zadjites and their guards.

Now all we have to do is wait for Paten to act and then I'll have the others go.

Yeah; I just noticed that. So the circles I have up on the map for the radiating light source are transparent, but they're "on top" of your icon. So if you "click/slide" the yellow circle representing the light (and in some cases the trees) off the top of your character you can move your character forward to where you want and then put the light source back where it was.

However, as I have your coordinate I just moved you up :)

You can see all the enemies clearly - the one in "blue" seems to be un-blooded - you think Red may have put him to sleep with sorcery, though it's hard to tell.

Paten moves forward, but clumsily and he draws plenty of attention while Cas and Farrokh move up, too.

Given that Paten's movement through the trees seems to have negated the need for Stealth, they do not seem to be as Stealthy...

Actually, I'll wait to move Cas, Farrokh, Tairin and Samir until Bjeorn gives a shout-out via his intentions. Hopefully that will be soon as I don't want to hold things up too long.

Okay - I did that at the bottom of the page.

Question - if you didn't want to attack Samir, would you have gone against the guy at T:14? For what it's worth; you would be able to move to attack him (and your attacks would likely have dropped him) but you would have to first soak his AoO via his Spear is a reach weapon; also, all the remaining enemy there would know you are on Samir's side, not theirs (I honestly that might be your gambit; attack an ally to through your enemies off-guard, avoid the AoO and then when they closed attack them, but I don't think that is the case now).

That said; if you want the guard at T:14 I'll move your guy closer and post the AoO - just let me know. Thanks!

Ok Many thanks. Yes I would charge the guy at T14. I do not care for any gambits, just methodically reducing the enemys and in the end getting hit, instead of someone else who is by far less armored and able to soak the damage.
I do not mind the AoO

The enemy takes his AoO on Bjeorn -

AoO with Spear
1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 17

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Samir, seeing that Bjeorn was able to hit and drop the guard, elects to move up to the Zadjite and attack...

Attack on Zadjite
1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 1 - 1 = 12

If it hits -
1d6 + 1 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 + 5 = 11

Farrokh and Cas move up to support Paten.

EDIT: Bjeorn manages to drop his man; Samir fails to hit, though he swings hard.

Red; I'll have the enemy roll the Saves on their turn via the Glitterdust effect.

Not botting Tairin as she's back on the boards - as soon as she acts, I'll have the enemy go.

Stepping with the quietness/grace of a cat, Tain moves 10 feet back, relying and remaining on the shadows of the palm to hide her from general view of any guard/enemy or Zajite.

Tairin begins to quietly cast in the dark shadows of the palm; uttering the quiet words in her native tongue, "Dihn QitaAa", and targeting the Zadjite's spear/weapon in hand.

Move: using stealth, Tairin moves down 10 ft, keeping to the shadows of the palm.
Standard: Quietly she begins to cast, Grease, on enemy's weapon in hand (enemy Q:15? beside Samir). Spell has a 30ft range. Duration 2 mins.

The enemy is required to make a Reflex save (DC 16) to avoid the grease effect (the spell is negated and there is no grease on the weapon). The guards near to Red are mostly able to shake of the glittedust; but one of them, including their master, was not so lucky. Nevertheless, they are now clear where the threat is coming from when it comes to sorcery.

Meanwhile, the Zadjite who was struggling with Samir feels a shiver of power on his weapon yet is able to grip it well enough. However, as a free action he calls out in the Zadjite tongue -

In Zadjite:

"Ware, ware - there is a witch; slay her first, else she curse us all!"

With that he does what he can to try to bring down Samir.

Note on using a Spell while in cover and then returning to cover: this is the rule for Sniping If you’ve already successfully used Stealth at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack and then immediately use Stealth again. You take a –20 penalty on your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location. - for this attack, I'm ruling Magic that involves Verbal and Somatic components (both spells do) will effectively break Stealth so using Stealth again to hide after casting, retain the usual penalty for Sniping.

That said; as the enemy's base Perception is +4 they will be able to see Red; the Zadjite's base Perception is +9 so he will also be able to see Tairin.

1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 25

1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 12

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The Zadjite - while he sees Tairin - seems more eager to deal with Samir...

Attack on Samir -

Meanwhile, the other Zadjites move forward, carrying their bright torches and removing the obfuscation from the shadows...

The two in Yellow Highlight are Blinded

EDIT: Red takes 11 Damage; Samir takes 9 - the guards missed Farrokh.

You can at once see that the Zadjites - despite their guards - are more nimble with light light weapons; further, you can see that they also wear daggers and whips - the Azimbans are heavier in muscle and body mass; but slower and more clumsy and not as well trained. Thus far your folk have cut through them like a scythe through grass - yet you believe the Zadjites will be more complicated.

Free Action Knowledge Local Check DC 12 for Yar Ammonite DC 15 for Susrahite DC 18 for all others:

The Zadjites were clearly sexist in the extreme; you'd doubt they'd even bother attacking women in your party unless you manage to kill them outright or be seen casting a spell.

Thus far it seems that the only Zadjite who believes Tairin can cast a spell offered a vague warning to his mates - and but for that warning you'd think they wouldn't attack the females (in short; the females in your party are likely safe from direct attack unless they are witnessed doing anything overtly dangerous/powerful - even then, the enemy will likely not be worried - in this case the Zadjite didn't go for Tairin because - even though she cast - the spell didn't effect him so he's not worried about her. This means Tairin and Red can use that to their advantage when they encounter the next wave - it may also be handy to try to use things like Bluff on these guys to get them to ignore you to open themselves up to being Flat-Footed to your next attack).

1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 1 = 14

If it hits -
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Samir's Confirm
1d20 + 5 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 3 - 1 = 26

If successful
1d6 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 13

Enemy opposed Wisdom Check vs. Bluff
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

EDIT: Both Samir and Farrokh were successful in dropping their enemy. The turn is over, I'll post the bad guys when I get home from work. Sorry for the delay...

Zadjite at Q:15 maintains to attack Samir -
1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 = 17

If he hits -
1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 = 7

The next Zadjite at Q:20 takes a step closer then uses a strategy practiced by your own company and charges at Samir, hoping to finish him off...

Attack with Charge -
1d20 + 4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 4 + 2 = 25

If it hits -
1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 4 = 9

The Zadjite at R:12 moves from Bjeorn and seems more intent on slaying the sorceress in your company, lest she cast another spell on you...

Attack on Red
1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 4 = 22

If it hits -
1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 4 = 6

The Azimban guard near to Paten O:4 takes a step to the side so he can stab him with his long spear -

Attack on Paten
1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 25

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

The Azimban guard at 6:N thrusts his spear at Farrokh
1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 17

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Another of the guards - once bedazzled by Glitterdust - moves up to support his ally and attacks Paten as his only target -
1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 19

If it hits -
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

The Zadjite, also bedazzled by Glitterdust - moves in a wide flanking arc that puts himself squarely between a tree and Ala's bow - giving him Total Cover at this angle from Ala's bow... However, he is unable to attack at this time.

The final Zadjite moves up between the trees, somewhat north of both Bjeorn and Tairin, so he can assess the situation before advancing into a situation that he is unable to attack.

EDIT:

Samir has taken a total of 40 HP and is now unconscious and may attempt a Fortitude Save to see if he Stabilizes

Fortitude Save
1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 = 21

Meanwhile, Red took a total of 6 HP this round for a total loss of 17.

Paten lost a total of 13.

Farrokh has lost 7.

Tairin; Red's magic was successful and dropped the guy near her with sleep. Since attacking him would wake the sleeping villain, would you like to switch that to the Zadjite above you at 11:O instead? If so, please let me know; also please let me know where you'd like to end up instead. Thanks!

As soon as I know, I'll have the enemy move.

Tairin started from Q:09, so if I move her five feet up instead to P:09, she can attack the Zadjite at O:11 as the whip has reach, with the rolls made earlier. If I can, I'd like her to fight defensively against this new enemy as a retcon as she doesn't have the advantage she had on the other one due to her earlier feint. Fighting Defensively with Whip Attack: 17+4-4=17, damage=3.

Fighting Defensively means Tairin gets a +2 to her AC for a round: 16+2=18.

Tairin's whip lashes out and with a flick of her wrist she is able to slash the enemy, drawing blood from him.

Enemy takes 2 Damage.

Enemy Turn -

1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Meanwhile, the three Zadjites near to Bjeorn swings hard, seeming to ignore Tairin entirely -

Attack -
1d20 + 4 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 4 - 2 = 23

If it hits -
1d6 + 4 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 4 = 14

The next Zadjite moves down to attack Red -

Attack on Red -
1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 = 17

If it hits -
1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 4 = 11

The final Zadjite moves to flank with his ally on Bjeorn -
1d20 + 4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 4 + 2 = 21

If it hits -
1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6

The final Zadjite makes a wide, fast arc and runs around in a loop to come around hard and assail the witch -

Double moves from R:0 to V:8 - but cannot attack this turn.

EDIT: It seems that Paten has taken another 7 Damage so his total is now at 6.

Bjeorn has taken a total of 16 Damage so his total is now at 22.

Finally, Red took another 11 Damage making her remaining HP 3.

This is madness! Samir, you have set this in motion!

Tairin takes a 5ft step across/diagonal to O:10. In the shadows of the palm, she lowers her face a little and begins casting, as quietly/discreetly as she can so the enemy cannot discern her words or note her hand gestures down by her side.

Stealth to cast unnoticed: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

Her words continue to fall as quietly as she can muster; using the trunk/shadows of the palm tree and her body posture to hide her actions as best as possible.

The enemy sees you hide and seems to turn his attention on the others without even bothering to look where you went.

Tairin Sense Motive Check 10 as Free Action:

You believe that the Zadjite - who has not seen you cast yet - is avoiding you simply because he feels that you are "only a woman" and not a threat.

You get an unspecified bonus on these guys on all Charisma skills via your Seductress Special Ability.

Paten is able to hit his target with ease - but does not drop him.

Target has lost 8 HP but still up - barely.

Taking a five foot step Bjoern attacks the enemy still standing.

Two things - I apologize for not being precise in my language, I will make sure to do so in the future. However, "that dog shall never rise again" was meant to convey he was not only slain but your attack was brutal. The other thing - when the enemy is highlighted in "Red" then that means they are dead.

Also - you indicated you took a 5 Foot Step and attacked the guy still standing. I am assuming that you meant the one at R:11, though I'm not sure. I apologize again for the confusion - but it really, really helps to know who you are referring to when you take an action. If you could include quardinates via your attacks that would be very helpful so I know who you mean. Thank you!

Bjeorn's sword hits the guard at R:11; doing a total of 13 more damage - combined with Tairin's earlier 2; but the Zadjite is still standing.

Ala’Ihys the Archer wrote:

Cas stands in a state of shock.

The wounded must move close to the hale for support else they shall be slaughtered like lambs!

However, with Ala's words he dashes forward and moves to U:10 and slits the throat of the sleeping Zadjite at V:10.

That Zadjite is also dead.

Now it is the enemy's turn...
