Druid or Verdant sorcerer are perfectly valid approaches. For me, I never feel right about giving a spellcasting class to a conversion if their original powers weren't from a magical source. Thus far the only exception to this rule I've made (I think) is Iron Man, because it's all but impossible to build the constructs you need for the Mark series of armor otherwise.
