Rasamoro |
"You honour me, Lady Ambassador. Feel free to call upon me as you require. If you will excuse me, I must inspect the ship and see to my lodgings." Once Rasamoro feels that he is excused, he rises and goes first to find his lodgings and unpack his belongings. He leaves his heavier weapons in his cabin, choosing to carry a sheathed Longsword while on the ship. Then he begins an examination of the ship, attempting to memorize the layout and any potential risks to the Ambassador.

Kanoko |
((There is no mention of what her scribe had her tongue removed for))
"Thank you Ambassador", Kanoko said, standing. "With your leave, I will situate my belongings, and greet my roommate."
Taking her belongings next door, she knocked politely before entering, greeting the other occupant of the room for the duration of the trip. It would be a pain to be so completely proper, so she did relax her greeting a bit, though she still deferred to the Scribe, since she had been positioned under the Ambassador longer. "Good Evening. I'm Kanoko, the assigned aide to the Lady Ambassador. Nice to meet you."
A glance of slight disdain at the size of the space that they were sharing was inevitable, but also quickly accepted, since she recognized that it would be her lot for now. The quarters she occupied prior to this were not much better, if she were to be truly honest. This was but one step.
There was a trill and some chirps(impatience, annoyance) from Tama, and she looked to the cage with a smile. "Hush you", she soothed, relieved that he had enough sense to not speak where he could be heard, or there would be more explanation that she would have wanted to give.
She turned to the scribe. "If it would not bother you, would you object to me letting Tama out of his cage for a while while I am present? He dislikes his cage, and I cannot find it in my heart to blame him so."
Tophan Stormcaller |
Toph resigns himself to a long and dull voyage. He seldom has much to do on a ship save boarding or repelling duty, as his cursed disability kept him from carrying out timely orders on deck, and twas not thrilling work scanning the horizon for sails.
He'll have that much less to do on a diplomatic mission.
With a sigh, he sets to cleaning his equipment and organizing it for access during any storm.
Tophan Stormcaller |
We still got this, even one catfolk down.
It'd do good to know the capabilities of the crew.
The first night, Tophan writes the challenge of an armwrestling tourney on the mainmast with his chalk, to be held in the crew quarters. Any who want for entertainment may attend, though he warns against shirking duties with a crude drawing of the cat-o-nine.
Of course, no wagers will be held, due to the naval code of behavior, but landlubbers may not yet know that.
Karval |
Karval decides to attend the contest, assuming it's allowed. In the meantime, he watches everyone around him and speaks little. He does his job mechanically, seeming to put very little thought into it.

Rasamoro |
During his exploration of the ship, Rasamoro comes across the note written by Tophan. Belying his gruff nature and air of servitude, the solidly built Nagaji recognised the value of competition and always aimed to improve his own abilities. 'Should be a good opportunity to test out my fellow companions.' he thinks to himself. Rasamoro had been quietly sizing up his companions since they met and was curious to see if his appraisal had been accurate.
Until the time came to attend, Rasamoro continues to familiarize himself with the ship as best he can. He also checks on Jun to make sure his companion is fed, brushed, and generally cared for. He doubted Jun had ever been on a sea voyage despite their island origins and worried about him.
Kanoko |
The note had been encountered by Kanoko in her limited exploration of the ship, wanting to stay close to the Ambassador so that she could perform her function, but this was the first time that she was on a ship, and she wanted to get a look at it before they set out.. The rocking of the ship was a bit peculiar to her, but it was nothing that she could not handle. So, with her pack stowed-- not that she knew how to use much in there besides what seemed to be their most common use-- she took the cage containing Tama, as she had not yet reached an agreement with her bunkmate, as well as it being an excuse to get him some fresh air.
The trills of annoyance at being in the cage, she humored, looking around the ship and wandering like a person inexperienced with being on the ship, though she tried to not get in anyone's way.
Tong Kai |
Kai spends his time monitoring the Ambassador and trying to learn anything he can. He finds the note scrawled on the mast, and although at first it intrigues him, he decides his time is best spent on the mission at hand.
