Seems to be a lot less activity in our OOC than the DRA's other PbP's. Any particular reason chaps? Just curious

Heh. I'm a programmer most days, and a musician at night. Got a couple bands, but I also own a studio; I do a lot of mixing and production for other bands and solo artists. Gaming is basically my only hobby right now; I'm running three IRL campaigns and three PbPs, playing in one IRL game and a couple PbPs. It's fun stuff! :-)

Actually what's maybe more startling is that Mists of War is just 250 or so posts behind you, and they started about a month later. :-O

I really dig how you guys are moving this story along and have a LOT in store for each of these characters based on the backgrounds you wrote and that we've since added onto together, so I'm with Justahl and Jorzan; let's get that post rate back up!

Also, while I'm at it, if there's ever anything I can do to help or to make things more interesting or move the plot along more, don't hesitate to let me know. One of the reasons I like playing here is to learn from other gamers, so lemme know if there's anything on your mind and/or anything I can do to make stuff more enjoyable. :-)

Nah, I wouldn't play you out like that. Or at least not yet. ;-)

Her plan is to take you away from all those warriors around you, and since Witchfires can't teleport, she's gonna do the next best thing; make you both invisible, then just sneak you away. Unfortunately she isn't totally herself, and the spirit that was Sarain is fighting with the monster she has become.

Kelne has now forced the issue a bit, so this is going to be interesting.
:-D

Hey Jorzan, what's the Incorporeal miss chance you're talking about? I'm not familiar with it and can't find it in the rules, though it's possible I just dunno where to look. Was this an older thing that got ditched?

Male Silastrix Magus (Bladebound Kensai) 11 (HP 83/83 AC 30, T 23, Flat 11 - F+9 R+9 W+8 Init +12; Senses: Darkvision 60ft Low-Light Vision (X2), Per +13

Incorporeal miss chance is now just a static 1/2 damage from magic weapons. I think...

That appears to be the case:

SRD wrote:
Incorporeal (Ex) An incorporeal creature has no physical body. It can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons or creatures that strike as magic weapons, and spells, spell-like abilities, or supernatural abilities. It is immune to all nonmagical attack forms. Even when hit by spells or magic weapons, it takes only half damage from a corporeal source (except for channel energy). Although it is not a magical attack, holy water can affect incorporeal undead. Corporeal spells and effects that do not cause damage only have a 50% chance of affecting an incorporeal creature. Force spells and effects, such as from a magic missile, affect an incorporeal creature normally.

Apologies for the delay, got behind on some deadlines had to write a lot of material on very short notice.

FYI - if you need to DMNPC Karthan:

For single target effects, his preferred second level spell is Flaming Magic Missile - he doesn't have Scorching Ray. His preferred 1st level spell is regular Magic Missile.

If he's in close, regular magic missile will be replaced with Burning Hands; assume he'll try to avoid getting his friends with BH. Regrettably for Tanel, Karthan doesn't know that he's still there... :)

If he suspects someone's a caster, or has a lot of hit points, or they're being stealthy, the spell of choice is Flaming Acid Arrow. :) That's also the spell of choice for dealing with Constructs and anything he suspects of having Spell Resistance.

All spells, and their DCs, are in my character profile on the Paizo site, and the ones in italic have no SR chance.

That's where I got it from. But anyway, regardless, thanks for the heads-up on what to use, 'preciate it. Next time I have to do it will be more on-point. :-)

So I'm curious -- how do all the party members regard each other at this point? I caught a whiff of some slight irking going on between Jorzan and Kelne that I thought was interesting, and everyone seems to take Tanel's ever-present spirits in stride. But what are y'all thinking?

And how is everyone feeling about Cassandra? I thought some of the reactions to her 'seeing' were very interesting; how everyone felt about her putting forth their future, or supposed future.

Aasimar Paladin (Shining Knight) L11 | AC29 (t11,ff28) | CMD28 | hp 133/133 | Save F17 R11 W13 | Percep +2 (Nouhves Percep +6)

Sir Justahl has not yet warmed to his companions ("Why are these... civilians along on this mission?"), but give him time.
Actually, seeing some of the other backstories, I think I need to add more detail/story hooks.

As for Cassandra; having her "know" stuff about your future is a little intimidating. But her seeing added something to Justahl I hadn't concidered before; being raised in a cloistered order makes him nervous and shy around girls. But he's also a natural romantic, so maybe there is "one" for him out there somewhere.

Male Human Battle Herald 11

We over in the Legacy of Marianasu are a cohesive unit! Take that!

Male Human (Bennelad) Oracle 7

Are you cohesive at being thread hopping jerks? :p

Tanel is still getting to get the others too, we kind of all ran together and off into the countryside. It's been mile a minute!

That said:
-Kelne: Tanels likes and respects the solid fighting man.
-Jorzan: Tanel feels like an older brother to Jorzan, an unfounded beleive but one he can't shake. Especially after the fight with the construct and finding out more about his backstory.
-Karthan: Tanel respects the mans competency and magic power, but he's not sure what to make of him personally.
-Justahl: Tanel thinks the paladin is decent, as Paladin are wont to do, but he's not hugely trustful of someone so tightly bound to a god.

M Brownin (Half Pale Skin/Half Dark Skin) Healer 8/Merchant 3

Great question DM.

While we may not be all noble-y and cohesive-unit-y like some other groups, yet, ; ) I think, given our circumstances as mostly all virtual strangers suddenly thrown together how we are makes sense. After all, other Jorzan and Karthan, most of us have only known each other a few days and have nothing tying us to each other except a strange future-seeing young girl. With all that, here's Jorza's take on things thus far:

Karthan: After their friendly rivalry sneaking up on each other Jorzan is comfortable with the half-orc sorcerer. Although they do not share much in common other than their stealhiness (and perhaps an interest in the arcane) Karthan is still by far the one Jorzan feels closest to calling a friend at present.

Justahl: The young rogue will always have a soft spot in his heart for the order of Paladine that rescued him, and Justahl is a shining example of that order. That aside though, the 'uptight and strict Paladine is hardly someone Jorzan would ever ínvite for an ale sometime. There may be a bit of unconscious hero worship and also some hidden insecurity that the darkness inside him prevented him from ever being good enough for the order, but conscious thoughts of such hardly if ever cross Jorzan's mind. He trusts the Paladine, but at a distance.

Tanel: Jorzan is still not quite sure what to think of the unusal farmer, espcially after what he just learned ( but hasnt had a chance to share yet). However Jorzan has a natural trust of the big man, especially after his timely rescue agaisnt the construct. Also perhaps something of the darkness in himself reaches out to the darkness he senses in the soul of the tortured man.

Kelne: Kelne is a fighter, a profession Jorzan has always relugated to something along the lines of "The big dumb guy who swings the sword". This was reinforced for Jorzan by Kelne's (at first) ridiculopus and unbelieveable claims of the Baron being a vamnpire. However in their time together Kelne has proven himself to be an intelligent and cabpale man and his explanations have gone a long way towards swaying the younbg rogue's opnions of him. In addition his outdoor and woodslore skills give him something for Jorzan to bond with over. Ironically, given time, Kelne could end up being the one Jorzan becomes closest with of all his allies.

Cassandra: As indicated earlier, Jorzan inexplicably feels a deep and overwhelming love and connection towards the strange young girl. Finding out Bal-Zat's interest in her has only served to significantly strengthen this. Jorzan is fully prepared to give his life for her, should that prove necessary. He does not know why this is, but, strangely for one normally so independant and inquisitive, he not only accepts it, he doesn't even question it.

Cohesive even if the "newbie"s aren't fully trusted. :)

Thread hopping is to much fun to not do it. :p

Karthan regards Jorzan as a friend, and Cassandra as someone in need of protection; he has a strong suspicion that Cassandra's fate is going to result in her death or willing sacrifice...and is worried that Jorzan will interfere with that.

He's got a solid respect for Kelne based on the library fight, and has somewhat warmed up to Justahl, though he finds Justahl's avoidance of the ladies bemusing.

Unlike Jorzan, he does not regard people who swing swords as being "big dumb jocks". His father fights with a double-axe, and does so quite well.

He is starting to be concerned for Tanel. Someone who's as spirit-ridden as Tanel is may be a hazard to the mission; worse yet, he may crawl into a bottle and not come out... so he's going to do his best to keep Tenel sane and balanced.

While Karthan would've preferred taking the route that went past where his father is scouting/hiding, he didn't make that argument persuasively enough.

As mentioned in his profile, Karthan generally sees no point in bearing anyone ill will for anything short of a deadly insult. After all, people who are confronted with the reality that is Karthan are prone to small emotions such as jealousy. :)

(Karthan rolled a ridiculous stat array, which is the only reason he's as good at sneaking as the Shadow Dancer is.)

I've also been a bit busy, and we've not really done a lot of intra-party roleplaying. Otherwise, Karthan might strike a few more of you as ...just shy of being a blowhard.

Kelne's still settling out his feelings on the others. It's only been a matter of days since he met them after all, and he's not one to rush to judgement.

Jorzan: Kelne gets along okay with Jorzan. He's proven handy in a fight, and is demonstrating experience as an outdoorsman and scout. Although he managed to annoy Kelne by casting doubt on his word about Ormir, they've settled that now, and should be fine going forward.

Justahl: By definition, as a paladin, Justahl's a paragon of virtue, and Kelne's seen nothing to conflict with that. He actually feels quite sorry for the poor man if that mob of emptyheaded girls was indicative of the attention he normally attracts.

Karthan: The sorcerer has an impressive amount of arcane power at his disposal, as well as other skills. Unlike most of them (including Kelne) he doesn't seem to have brought any enemies to the table, which is a definite plus. That said, Kelne regrets that their resposibilities didn't allow them to go to his father's aid.

Tanel: Tanel's a bit of a worry. He seems haunted, both in the literal and the figurative senses. He seems steady enough though, and capable of dealing with his issues. Dead ex-girlfriends rising from the grave notwithstanding.

Cassandra: Cassandra deeply unsettles Kelne. He'd rather not know what the future holds, and is trying not to brood on those fragmentary hints she's delivered to date. He intends to make any decisions which are called for at the time, rather than trying to work out what he should be doing.

Very cool. Great answers, you guys, there's some food for thought for me in there.

Also! I just got done running a 14-hour IRL crossover two-party story-arc-ending game for an 8-person table so I'm completely exhausted and will update IC stuff for y'all tomorrow/later today. Sorry for the delay, but I hope you guys understand! Big updates tomorrow!

Another thing; there'll definitely be more time for intra-party RP, esp. as you get farther north. I'm really interested to see how that all rolls out, what skeletons get revealed in what closets (if any), etc. Maybe there'll be some Skeletal Champions!

So, where to now, guys? And what about the red cap, just leaving him there? Jorzan started exploring the tunnel to the north but was only able to get to the point where all the traps were before he had to dash back. No one's explored south yet.

Tanel is pretty much the party healer, yeah? How ironic. :-p

How much can Justahl heal?

Justahl can...

Lay On Hands (Su): heal by touch.
(8 times/day) XXX OOOOO
Can heal (3d6)
Can use to damage undead, dealing (3d6). Using melee touch attack (doesn't provoke AoO). Undead do not save.

Mercy (Su): All mercies add to the lay on hands ability.
• Shaken: The target is no longer shaken.
• Diseased: also acts as remove disease, using the paladin's level as the caster level.

Channel Positive Energy (Su):
channel positive energy like a cleric.
Using consumes two uses of her lay on hands. A paladin uses her level as effective cleric level when channeling positive energy.
(4d6, 30ft radius, Undead Will save DC18 for half dam)

Oh, nice! Okay so really you've got two pretty effective healers in the group. Rad. (Well, I mean, in addition to wands and whatnot, of course.)

Sacred bond and combat healer mean that Tanel can do some serious spontaneous healing in combat, but truth be told once we survive a combat, wands of clw are cheap and effective.

Only if we're in a place that has them for sale, and isn't turning into a "Everyone in the city is after Cassandra" free for all.

Karthan has about a 75% chance of using a CLW wand if either Justahl or Tenel is out of it.

Hey guys, is there anything I can do to help keep things going? I feel like if you're not in active combat, this game comes screeching to a halt.
