Gergo |
Gergo burst into the hallway with a howl of joy, his axe held by only his right hand. In less than a second he raised it, letting its handle swing in the direction of the walking lizard, then he quickly followed up with a downwards swing made with both hands gripping the weapon.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 1 = 27
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Damage Roll: 1d12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 3 = 12
Crit Damage: 2d12 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (8, 5) + 12 + 6 = 31
Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Valeria Skendar |
Moving in after the other two, Valeria quickly fired off a bolt from her crossbow at the furthest reptile.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
GM_Jadecat |
Gergo's charge messily ends one troglodyte's existence, but Valeria's bolt sticks in her target's hide without really hurting it. The stench is also quite overpowering to her senses--her stomach starts churning.
Initiative (Haru): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Initiative (Gergo): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Initiative (Kavell): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Initiative (Friday): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Initiative (Valeria): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Initiative (Trogs): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Round 1: Friday, Valeria, Gergo & Kavell are up!
Gergo |
Gergo let his axe continue sailing through the air after it had turned the troglodyte into a corpse, he didn't deny his weapon's momentum, he embraced and added more power to the swing, only shifting its angle as he leaped towards the next lizard man and let his howling axe make its way towards its scaly hide.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 - 1 = 11
Damage Roll: 1d12 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 3 = 13
Valeria Skendar |
Moving up beside Gergo (and trying to keep her lunch where it should be), she unleashed another gout of flame at the two further trogs.
Flame Arc Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 1 = 9
If I can't catch the two furthest from her with the one line template, she'll aim for the middle one instead.
GM_Jadecat |
Reflex Save 1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Reflex Save 2: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
The second trog uses his comrade as a shield to avoid the worst of Valeria's flame jet. The first trog lets out a pained scream as it gets cooked alive.
The remaining trogs turn tail and start running for the door in the southeast wall. They start yelling in their *hissing*, panicked tongues...
"Aak! Volaan!"
Haru is up!
In case you're curious, here's the website I used to translate for Draconic. :)
Haru Yoshioka |
Haru comes down the stairs and into the hall with an arrow on her string, but can't find anything to shoot at.
Friday Daud |
Friday stabs at the next opponent.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 3 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 3 = 15
Gergo |
Gergo runs after their cowardly foes, one arm held his great axe while the other was reaching for his chakram. Once he was in range he turned his waist and pulled his arm back, then in one smooth motion he took a step forward, turned his waist to its original position and whipped his arm forward as he released a flying metal projectile in the direction of the remaining lizard man.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage Roll: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Valeria Skendar |
Down to just her crossbow, Valeria moved up behind the others. She still had one more use of her fire blast, but unless the others could manoeuvre for her to get a clear shot, it would be a waste to use it on just one hostile.
GM_Jadecat |
Gergo's chakram strikes the trog squarely in the back, drawing much blood but not enough to kill it. It staggers into the room beyond.
The fifteen-foot-high ceiling of this hexagonal room is supported by four stone pillars. The middle of the room sags in a bowllike depression, leaving a five-foot-wide ring of level ground around the room’s perimeter. Remnants of a low wooden railing mark the edge of the depression, but most of the fence has collapsed. A large chair sits in the centre of the room next to a table heaped with doubtful-looking cuts of rancid meat.
Three more trogs wait in this room, one of them much beefier-looking than the rest. His hide bears the scars of many battles, and at his side rests a wicked-looking morningstar covered in old blood. He growls in anticipation and hefts it high, looking at the two next to him who draw javelins.
Initiative (Trog Leader): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
He points and twirls his morningstar before adopting a defensive posture.
Haru is up!
Haru Yoshioka |
Haru goes down to the end of the hallway and checks the door, wanting to make sure they won't get trapped between two troglodyte forces.
Haru Yoshioka |
"This room looks clear," Haru reports.

Friday Daud |
Haru's words reassuring him that wouldn't get surrounded Friday moves up into the doorway and stabs at the nearest Troglodyte.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 3 = 14
GM_Jadecat |
Kavell's remark proves prophetic as the trogs retaliate--the wounded one swings as hard as it can at Gergo, fighting tooth and claw!
Club: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Bite: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11
Claw: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (3) - 3 = 0
Its swings all go completely wild, presumably from the pain its in.
The other two trogs take aim at Gergo and throw their javelins!
Ranged Attack (In Melee): 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (15) - 4 = 11
Ranged Attack (In Melee): 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (13) - 4 = 9
In their haste to throw them, however, they manage to miss. Both javelins clatter to the floor.
Haru is up, and then it's on to Round 4!
Friday Daud |
Unable to press onward Friday stabs at the Troglodyte to the left of Gergo.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 3 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 3 = 11
Haru Yoshioka |
Can't really do anything so I'll just move up as close behind everyone else as I can.
GM_Jadecat |
Gergo grins, steps to the side, and swings his axe at the trog leader!
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
His axe manages to get past the trog leader's guard and is swiftly buried in the beast's chest.
Valeria levels her crossbow at the easternmost trog in the back and fires...
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3
...her bolt piercing the trog's leg scales!
The leader roars in pain and swings his morningstar at the berserker...
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
...before clawing and biting at him!
Claw: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Bite: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
The leader's wild strikes are easily parried and dodged.
Kavell is up!
Kavell Speranta |
As soon as there was an opening he moved into the room as quickly as he could ignoring the trog Gergo was battling and moving to the side. He skirted the far wall watching the others preparring to stab at the first troglodyte that tried to close with him.
I believe that should draw an AoO though maybe with partial cover from the pillar? I am not sure on that.
AoO if any trog closes with me: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM_Jadecat |
The other trogs in the room HISS in rage as their leader is maimed, and take up arms to join him in the fray!
Trog Leader AoO vs. Kavell: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The trog leader takes an opportunistic swing at Kavell as he moves into the room, managing to catch the paladin in the back.
One trog advances on the paladin, taking the incoming glaive swing on the chin and swinging a wooden cudgel at him...
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
...and the other strikes at Gergo!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Both trogs manage to find their marks.
Haru is up, then it's on to Round 5!
Haru Yoshioka |
Haru casts a spell to hopefully cause the Troglodyte leader to fall into helpless laughter. Hideous laughter, DC 16 will save or fall prone and laugh uncontrollably, unable to take any other actions. Lasts 3 rounds. On its next turn, it can attempt a new save as a full-round action.
"Why did the lizard cross the road? It was the chicken's day off!"
Haru Yoshioka |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
F#!!ing FINALLY one of my spells lands!
Valeria Skendar |
Sorry for not posting last round - I was waiting for Gergo to post and move out of the way a bit and wasn't sure if Valeria could fire past him. That and the "1 hour before botting" post went up at 1:45 in the morning.
Knowing it was a bit of a risk, Valeria moved up and unleashed another blast of flame, aiming to catch both the leader and the trog Kavell was engaged with while avoiding scorching the paladin.
Flame Arc Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 1 = 11
Friday Daud |
Reaching around Valeria, Friday stabs at the Troglodyte who, for some reason, found Haru's joke funny enough to endanger himself in combat.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 3 = 13
GM_Jadecat |
No worries, Valeria.
Reflex Save (Trog Leader): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Reflex Save (Trog Consort): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Though the trog leader rolls around on the floor while laughing, it's not enough to save him from a fiery death. The trog curls up and expires, the smell of stinking reptile turning rancid and charred.
The trog on Kavell has somewhat better luck, if only because it wasn't nearly as wounded.
However, the trog next to Gergo isn't so lucky--Friday quickly impales it on his spear, going through its neck. At least its death is quick.
Gergo is up!
GM_Jadecat |
Gergo's strike does exactly that--there's soon two halves of a trog lying in a pool of gore at his feet.
Combat over.
The only item of real interest on the trogs is the leader's morningstar--though a rusty red from old blood, a minute of polish reveals that its head & spikes are forged from cold iron.
Gergo |
"Hah! I was hoping for more of a challenge, maybe the ogrekin will provide that" Gergo stepped past the corpses they've left in their path "You still in one piece Kavell? That strike looked severe, it was probably all those weak lizards could muster, it is a wonder why the red demon kept them at all! They make terrible guards" The armored man pulled out a cloth and began the task of cleaning his axe, his nose clearly insulted by the smell of their foes blood.
Haru Yoshioka |
"This is hurting pretty badly. I wonder if we shouldn't find a place to get some rest?"
