Saliger The Greatest
|
Alright, I'm exhausted so I'll keep this short.
Saliger came to the university to gather more knowledge, and finding he was short on cash, agreed to work there to pay his way into college. He lived on the roof tops nearby.
He became friends with Xzavier while attending his class as they got into philosophical and often heated theological debates. Seeing his intelligence and knack for learning Xzavier brought him in as his student teacher, and Saliger is working hard to become a teacher himself, for the better pay and access to higher grade knowledge.

Academic- so I will give you a +1 to three of the following, Craft (Writing), Linguistics, Diplomacy, Knowledge (Arcana, Local, Religion, History) and I will give you +100 gp to start
or Student which I will give you +1 to three of the following Craft, Knowledge (Local, Nature, Engineering), Linguistics and +300gp to start

A bonus feat (See Below) and +300 gp
All of these will include a bonus feat of either skill focus or something that modifies a skill
Jerall has soon as I figure out how you fit into the scheme with the other characters or get a better idea of your character I will post some for you.
Look for the merits/flaws tonight
I am hoping to start the gameplay tomorrow. please make sure you can post once a weekday.

I think I'm closer to student right now, so I'd go with that to start with. He's trying to get to to be a teacher, but his book learning has been very limited because of his background. I would say most of his money would be spent on books and maybe a little gear. Heck, he doesn't even need to eat or drink, just burn a PP. I guess I can always spend it on spells though.
I have no idea how flaws/merits work. I know what they were in 3.5 but never used them only glanced at them briefly. Where can I find them. I'm also not sure I understand you system. So do I start with 10 merits and 7 flaws, but I have a choice to have 3 merits/ 0 flaws and or some combination there of?
waiph
So I'm trying to work out the whole WHip focus that Jerall's got going on. I see Whips used by slave-drivers, animal-handlers, and pirates/other people that have flogging. I'm not sure who would have flogging be a thing in Ustalav, unless he were with some sort of militia, which does sort of make sense.
He could use his bardic inspiration as part of bolstering the forces, as well as speaking with witnesses, and he is also tasked with floggings and such. He's sort of the low man on the totem pole, so he gets all sorts of odd-jobs, and man's an out of the way station. So he could be assigned to the university , acting as sort of middle-managment, dealing with troop dispersal and support, helping out in a fight.
So that's how he knows the others. There's the Blue that he's basically got to keep an eye on, because it's a Goblin, and the Blue's friend whom he gets to know.
These are the merits and flaws that look interesting to me, and that i'm curious about.

At first glance these are the ones I'm interested in, what do I get for the flaws again though?? Can I make my flaw delusional (overestimates self) rather than a world view though? That makes more sense for my character.
Xzavier Chronis
Ah, okay. I thought it might be 3 free Merit pts and the rest were purchased by up to 7 flaw pts. Thank you by clarifying.
I chose the Apothecary background, and chose as my bonus feats: Persuasive and Careful Speaker... Let me know if these are alright. Careful Speaker provides a limited benefit to skills, but also a limited benefit to to Will saves to resist being commanded to speak (or something like that)
So I guess the only thing I have left to update my character with is weapon skills and armor. Although I feel fairly strange about armor already as Xzavier has Damage Resistance 2/piercing already, and wears quilted armor, which provides Damage Resistance 3/- but only against piercing projectiles. So, I'm not sure how quilted armor will be modified in the new system.
I also need to update my equipment to reflect starting equipment wealth. Even with a 25% discount allowance for Common Firearms, most of them are well beyond our purses.

Ok, going with Greed, delusional and jealous.
I totally missed the feat - magical aptitude.
Also can we get a list of what we can spend CDP on and the price when you get a chance.
My knowledge's are ridiculous, can't wait to get trained in all of them. With 1 point I have a 16 guys, so we should be pretty good on those. Probably won't have a point in all of them though until level 3-4.
Oh yea, and I'm a seer, so I can reroll a failed Knowledge with a +2 for free!!

DR: What do you get your DR 2/ piercing?
Quilted gives DR 3 vs piercing projectiles, so you have your DR 2/piercing, reducing all damage by 2, unless it is Piercing, but if it is a piercing projectile, then it is subject to the DR 3 of the quilted armor.DR overlaps, as opposed to stacking unless it is of the same type so if you penetrate DR/magic for example, but the creature has DR bludgeoning, you are still subject to the bludgeoning DR unless you hit it with that sort fo damage. So you go through and apply the highest DR, and see if you get through it. If not, it doesn't matter if you get by the lower ones, you've already been subject to a higher DR. if you do pass it, you get to deal with the next highest DR... hope that wasnt too convoluted...
waiph
Will do. I'll finish up te backstory later on this evenin, but right now, I'm going with an Archivist bard, so he works in the bowels of the university oft studying old and obscure lore. There's more to him than that, but i'll hammer it out and put in on his profile.
Taking editict memory, for sure!

Pariah is all my charisma checks for now, as they are all the same. A blue can be very off setting to non-goblinoids. The extra -1 is added in there but I feel it should add a slight roleplay element as well, though a 12 isn't nearly as bad as I expected. Just for future reference.

Is this a valid Merit/flaw distrubution, or did I misunderstand. We get 10 merits, and can take up to 7 flaws, and get either merits of CDP based on the flaws that we take?
Merits: 10
Eidetic memory - 3
Minor Empathy - 2
Alluring - 2
Voice - 1
Shrewd - 2
flaws 7 pts
Impetuous - 2
Shadow Walker - 3
Damaged goods - 2
(DG = Relationships are primarily superficial and utilitarian based and Jerall is not trusting due to his father abandoning him, and his mother being utterly delusional in his opinion...)
Bonuses from flaws
New Skill: Disable Device - 3
Peripheral Vision - 1
Wary - 2
Internal Clock - 1
waiph
also, As far as profession, I'd like to take up Profession (Scribe) and have Jerall's occupation be an archivist/libratian/researcher or something. He basically knows the library, it's darker secrets, and searches for new information, aiming to add to the information in the library, complete the collection, and supplement information.
updating his profile right now...
waiph
For simplicity sake imho it makes sense to have Mage-armor simply provide +4 to AC, and no DR, mirroring Bracers of Armor, and enchanting armor. So they don't add to the DR of the armor at all.
and I'm under the impression that we are getting the partial armor DR, so half the AC bonus rounded down is DR.
DM DaWay: Would it be reasonable to have Lamellar around? The Lamellar Curiass squeaks me out another point f AC if mixed with Studded leather arms and legs... Otherwise I'll go with either studded leather or the Chain Shirt.
and for future, Bard ignores afc for light armor, so if Jerall wears a mithral suit of armor, it's treated as light armor, so it's a non-issue, right? correct me if i'm wrong
imimrtl
Hi everyone I am new player #4. I dropped from Daway's other game to play in this one as I am under limited constraints as far as number of games. Waiph I am pleasantly surprised to see you as one of the players! I've known DaWay for 12 years irl.
I am going to be your tank...literally as I am doing the Armored Engineer class with fighter for my gestalt class. Totally rocking Iron Man lol. Once I get with DaWay and work out some of the rules I'll have my character up.
waiph
I like NPC aliases, sets them apart from narration. Maybe not for EVERYONE, but if they show up a couple times, and they start becoming more relevant, then it would totally make sense to have a character for them. But joe the drunk that we never see again doesn't need it nless we talk to him a couple times?
