Geoffrey Verista |

Geoffrey helps Beorn carry the guard so as not to make noise. Motioning for everyone to remain quiet, as if they needed to be reminded...
Once in the room Geoffrey looks around at the weapons. "Confiscated" looks promising and he goes for those boxes first.

Ventus Cloudstrider |

Ventus quickly pulls on a uniform after freeing himself of his rags, removing a small leather-bound book from them and tucking it inside his uniform's pocket. He searches the "confiscated" box, praying for a holy symbol. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Finally, Ventus searches the weapons cache for some daggers or falling that, a club or quarterstaff.

Grafelda Moroe |

Grafelda will grab a chain shirt and put it on if there is one available. She will also search for her katana in the confiscated chests. "I feel our chances are much better now. How many guards were in that other room?"

Harzhen |

Harzhen looks around, hoping to find a bow or ranged weapon of some kind. He takes a longsword, peering down the length of the blade to examine its craftsmanship. He also ponders thoughtfully over a chain shirt for a few seconds before sighing and pulling it on.
Are there any bows, arrows, thieves tools, or other cool/interesting/useful stuff?

Ventus Cloudstrider |

Ventus will also use prestidigitation to clean himself up and anyone else who will let him. If anyone refuses, he'll warn You want to stay dirty? You may as well put on a name tag that says "I'm a prisoner in a guard's uniform" but ultimately will not press them past that.

Geoffrey Verista |

Geoffrey takes his gear if he is able to find it and several extra arrows.
Composite bow
60 arrows
Guard uniform
Dagger
"We don't have time, if they are close enough to make out my face it won't matter." he says to Ventus. While the others don armour and the like he watches the hall for any guards. Readying his bow if he needs to attack.

Cillian Castilain |

In the Confiscated box, Cillian comes up with a fine looking coat, a leather satchel and a cane with a head shaped like grinning-and-crying theatre masks placed back to back, but nothing else of note.
Like these only facing away from each other on the head of the cane.

Cillian Castilain |

How about we assume that we had the basics with us, stuff we would carry on the street or at our job, and assume that we have money or additional gear stashed in the city where we can pick it up later.
"Alright, one thing that needs to be said: Some of these guards are villainous bastards. Some are just people doing their jobs. We don't know which ones are which, so they all get the benefit of the doubt. That means no killing. Anyone who decides to get bloodthirsty gets trussed up and left behind. This is an escape, not a spree of revenge."
Where did that come from? I sound like my father. Hope none of them react like I would. Too late now.
"Clear?"

Ventus Cloudstrider |

Yeah, I didn't purchase any gear either since we were going to be prisoners, though I did note for story reasons I had midnight-blue robes, a dagger, a silver holy symbol of Nethys, and spell component pouch (which he uses for the <1 gp foci rather than material components, since he has False Focus). Assuming I got the robes (a Scholar's Outfit) as my free clothing, that would be 31 gp worth of gear. I don't know if I had to pay anything extra for my compact spellbook (wizards get a free spellbook for being wizards, but it doesn't say which kind); the price difference between a basic and a compact spell book is 35 gp, so if I had to pay the difference that would bring my total gear to 66 gp. I assume any extra from whatever starting gold we had would just be pocket change; even if Ventus had other stuff, he wouldn't have taken it with him for his mission. He only took his spellbook because he never goes anywhere without it.
Ventus cries a tear in delight at his holy symbol's return; he reties its leather cord and puts it carefully around his neck and tucks it under his uniform. Praise to the All-Seeing Eye! he will also put his component pouch on his belt and then search the room for a bag or backpack to put his robes into--he's fond of them, but won't bother escaping with them if he has to hold them.
Seeing Cillian's cane, he points to it and his holy symbol and exclaims, Do my eyes deceive me? Are you also a worshipper of Nethys? (The drama symbol looks vaguely like the holy symbol of Nethys.)

Beorn Haraldson |

Beorn looks down at the bleeding guard that he took down in the hall. People get in my way and I hit them. he explains as he adjusts the shoulder straps to his greatsword with an ivory bear's head carved into the pommel. I ain't real good at patching them back up. That will have to be someone else's job.
He goes on to add a longsword, cold iron morning star, and silver kukri to his belt, and a brace of javelins with throwing cords attacked in a quiver over his other shoulder. No sign of my coin purse he complains.

Cillian Castilain |

"I'm not joking. Pull your punches, hit them with the flat of that sword, use a club instead, whatever you have to do. If we leave a trail of bodies out the door, the manhunt will be like nothing you've ever heard of. If we bust them up and leave them alive, they look incompetent and won't even want to admit we escaped. We're already going to have bounty hunters after us when we get out of here. They offer a lot more for escaped murderers than regular escapees. You might be fine with that kind of heat, but I'm not."

Harzhen |

Harzhen looks up from gathering his recovered gear (which I will detail shortly - I like the idea of regular gear rather than everything we own, as suggested) to observe Cillian and Beorn with his green, catlike eyes. "I agree. My war is not with these mere lackeys. The blood of murder will never wash clean, it is said. I would rather not stain my soul needlessly."

Beorn Haraldson |

I am not disagreeing with you, only stating that I lack the skills to patch people up. I did pull the punch by the way. If you do not want that one to bleed out I recommend you try first aid on him, or find someone who can. If there is a sap he will add it to his inventory.

Grafelda Moroe |

Without improved unarmed strike then he only took non-lethal damage. So no, he's not bleeding out.
Grafelda finishes equipping her gear. She's now shrouded in dark grey and green mottled cloth, with only her eyes visible. There is a katana on her back and coil of rope wrapped around her body. A small pouch and a grappling hook are attached to her belt. Listening to the men talk she says, "Got it m'lord. No killing. I've got these smokesticks...we could throw them into that room with the guards and then escape out the door. Knock them out if they come for us. It won't be long before they come looking for their friends, we better hurry."

Geoffrey Verista |

He nods at the others. "I don't kill without knowing they deserve it."
Waiting for them all to be ready he looks at the little one. "Good plan, we could distract them with that, knock them out, and have a descent headstart if no alarm is raised. How many guards will be stationed outside or guarding any walls? Maybe we should borrow some horses."

Grafelda Moroe |

Grafelda shrugs, unsure how to answer Geoffrey's question. Turning to Cillian she says, "If you remember m'lord, I was taken while on a mission. These aren't my normal street clothes. Though, I would of course be happy to hear your explanation."

Ventus Cloudstrider |

I agree, killing should not be our aim, but my punches are not the type that can be pulled, Ventus smiles wryly and holds out a fist. The lightning patterns on his skin glow blue and a faint crackle of electricity is heard. I have a spell for electric punches, and also one ranged spell, magic missile if you have heard of it. It doesn't deal strong blows, but it hits unerringly. I can also call lightning down all around me--a trick I picked up at the academy--but I don't like to use it since it hits both friends and foes.
If no one else is bothering with a guard uniform, Ventus will just put on his wizard's robes then. No point trying to blend in if no one else is :)

Beorn Haraldson |

Without improved unarmed strike then he only took non-lethal damage. So no, he's not bleeding out.
I suspect my post Ninjaed your, but you are wrong that I struck the guard with an unarmed strike, as I pointed out about 8 minutes before you posted. The guard was hit or lethal damage and either stabilized on his own, or is bleeding out.

Grafelda Moroe |

Not so, see below. I put it in a spoiler to avoid cluttering the thread. Anything further lets take it to discussion.
Unarmed Strike Rules
"A Medium character deals 1d3 points of nonlethal damage with an unarmed strike."
....Normal: Without this feat, you are considered unarmed when attacking with an unarmed strike, and you can deal only nonlethal damage with such an attack.
As I don't see improved unarmed strike on your sheet, or any other ability that grants it I have to assume that you are in fact mistaken.
I would also point out that without improved unarmed strike under normal rules you aren't considered threatening, and would provoke AOOs for making an attack (though not in this case since he was flat footed). See attacks of opportunity section of combat rules for details.

Beorn Haraldson |

Sigh. I HIT HIM WITH A WEAPON. Guys, I know the rules. I was armed with a cestus, which is an armored glove of thick leather with wicked spikes along the back of the hand and wrist. While wearing this glove I am considered armed and my unarmed attacks deal lethal damage.

jdkle309 |

As far as gear, take as much as you need as long as the total value is close to the average starting wealth of your character. You can decide if your weapons were confiscated or if they are stashed in the city somewhere. As for the cestus...This is from the Adventurer's Armory-Cestus: The cestus is a glove of leather or thick cloth
that covers the wielder from mid-finger to mid-forearm.
It is reinforced with metal plates over the fingers and
often lined with wicked spikes and fangs along the backs
of the hands and wrists. While wearing a cestus, you are
considered armed and your unarmed attacks deal normal
damage rather than nonlethal damage. If you are proficient
with a cestus, your unarmed strikes may deal bludgeoning
or piercing damage. When using a cestus, your fingers
are mostly exposed, allowing you to wield or carry items
in that hand, but the constriction of the weapon at your
knuckles gives you a –2 penalty on all precision-based
tasks involving that hand (such as opening locks).

Grafelda Moroe |

Why didn't you just say "I hit him with a cestus"? x_x
I assumed you'd picked up the cestus as part of your confiscated gear. Sorry for the confusion.
"So much for the not killing. That's an attempted murder if I've ever seen one. Next best option would normally be leaving no witnesses, but since they're already aware of who we are, we'd better just run."

Beorn Haraldson |

Seeing that the element of surprise is lost the large northman charges the guard.

[dice=Perception]1d20+3
Here is my post where I hit him with the Cestus. Note the word Cestus in the attack. Thought that was clear.

Geoffrey Verista |

Geoffrey also finds his monks robes and stuffs them into his backpack to change outfits later. He has his bow showing over his shoulder, one half secured in his pack which doubled as a makeshift quiver for his arrows. He looked quite uncomfortable in the borrowed guard uniform. "Please don't mistake me in the confusion."
"We need to go."

Grafelda Moroe |

"Here," Grafelda says, handing Geoffrey a tindertwig and smokestick, "On my signal light this and throw it into that room."
Grafelda will also ready a smokestick and get in position next to the door to the room where the guards are. Once everyone is ready she'll give a signal to light and throw them.
Taking 10 on stealth for an 18 as I do this.

Harzhen |

Harzhen has gathered his gear, replacing the chain shirt with his trusty black studded leathers. His greatsword he straps to his back. He carries his longbow at the ready, a blunt arrow nocked. A length of rope hangs from his belt, as do a pair of daggers. He looks to the others, awaiting movement.

Grafelda Moroe |

You should roll for everyone. Just type out the coding once and save it in a notepad file. Then whenever we get into combat you can copy+paste it into your post. Will save tons of time waiting for everyone to post their initiative, also lets people see who will be going in what order all in one place.
