The Mystery of Loch Feinn

Game Master greg white 722

In the spring of 1941, agents of Department M, a branch of England's security services dealing with the most outré of threats, is sent to the remote Scottish Highlands, to investigate a possible Nazi menace on the shores of desolate Loch Feinn.

Still looking for players?

I'm not the GM, but I suspect that we could use a bit of help :)

It's an interesting mystery we have going on.

They do feel they could use a hand.

So if you're interested you're either going to be:

a.) Reinforcements from HQ sent to help.
b.) A local who volunteers to help.
c.) A contact or ally that they have reached out too.

No longer interested Splatterlight?

Any more opening(s)?
same build as stated on previous page?

Yes.

"So you get 65 Build Points for General Abilities. As you have all received some basic military training, you get 1 free point in each of the following: Athletics, Bureaucracy, Scuffling and Shooting.

You each get 16 points to spend on Investigative abilities. You probably don't need to spend more than a single point in an Investigative Ability unless you want to be a an expert in that ability.

Your highest General Ability can only be twice that of your next highest General Ability.

You cannot, at this point, buy any points in Cthulhu Mythos .

You may, as color, describe some incident in your past, that "opened your mind" to the possibility of the supernatural, making you an ideal recruit for Department "M".

To reiterate, the stripped down, basic rules are available as "Condensed Rules", under "Downloads and Resources" on the Pelgrane Press website."

Yes, count me in.

Any character concepts you interested in? Again, the time is the spring of 1940. The characters are in Scotland, on the behest of a mysterious agency, Department M, which believes that there might be some kind of Nazi plot unfolding by the shores of a remote Scottish loch.

Uggh. I messed up. It's the spring of 41. The Battle of Britain is over, and the Blitz is winding down. Rommel is still supreme in North Africa.
America is still neutral. Hitler is a month away from unleashing his panzers on Russia.

So if anybody was interested in jumping in, now would be a really good time.

Hey all!

Cirle pointed me to this PBP so I thought I'd jump in if that's all right. Working on a character currently. Should have that up and running at some point tonight.

Also, I'll admit this is my first PBP so I apologies if I miss something. I'll do my best to pick up on the intricacies as quickly as possible.

Cheers!

Trying to find the link again for the Condensed Rules.

Ahh. Here they are Condensed Rules .

I'm looking at this one, let me know if this is correct http://www.pelgranepress.com/trail/files/Trail_of_Cthulhu_Condensed_Rules.p df

So the central concept of 'Trail' is that skills are either Investigative or General. Investigative skills require no roll; you simply state that you're using them, and if there's anything to be found, you find it.

The mechanic is a single d6 roll; you want to roll over an assigned difficulty. You can add points from the pool to ensure that you match or exceed the difficulty; but as points slowly refresh you have to ration them out.

For Investigative abilities you can spend points to gain additional information above and beyond the basic 'clue.'

What kind of character concept do you have in mind?

Rolled out a doctor if that would benefit the group.

Character name is Emrys Hanmer. I have the specifics as well as back story for the character. Let me know if you want that information posted here or PM'd (depending if you want backstory kept secret to you or known to the group).

Typically the character stats are saved under your profile.

So, based on your character portrait, I'm going to suggest that you are a retired country doctor; who has heard that your old friend, Edward Carter, is in the Scottish highlands; unless you have a different background in mind?

He could even be a distant cousin. Our avatars look alike! :)

Not retired. Not yet. Did some math and Emrys' age would put him around 48 if he participated in the Great War at the tender age of 18. He got his background start in medicine during the Great Ware but furthered refined it after the war ended at the Uni. College of Swansea.

For story sake I would say that he is a distance relative of Edward.

Here is a link to the profile. Profile for Emrys Ifor Hanmer
