Feedback:
We have adventured enough that you have experienced my GM style, as well as the supporting information for the story such as the FB group, maps and pictures, and responsiveness to your moves and actions.
If there is anything you think needs improvement, please let me know. If you aren't having fun, then this becomes an exercise in futility.
I want you to know that I think the group is operating very well. The roleplay opportunities have been taken advantage of, and your characters are really developing into unique persons with a shared passion for attaining justice (and loot). You are working as a team, which is necessary to overcome obstacles and attain productive outcomes, so I congratulate you all.
When you care about your character and the welfare of the others in your party, then this game truly becomes magical!

I am enjoying the game to date. Successfully encouraging a group to roleplay is not always an easy task, but it greatly enhances the experience.
Thank you for the opportunity to reroll 1's. It looks like I have reason to take advantage of that as well.

Gezzo Wrathforge |

I'm having a great time with this adventure. I know Gezzo is a bit to handle, but everyone seems to doing pretty good role playing with him and there have been plenty of opportunities to let him shine (as well as show his rear :) ).
All in all, I look forward to seeing how this unfolds with the story and the interactions between the players.

Nästród, Oracle of the Dasun |

I updated Nästród's character sheet. I got Lead Blades as a bonus mystery spell.
The campaign is progressing well. I can go faster if everybody else can. At least right now (you never know when that darn real life might interfere).

Flug Managarm |

I'm having much fun! I do like the NPCs and interacting with them.
We have a nice blend of personalities in this group, which I think is great. Makes things interesting. Flug is mostly passive, so having people who are headstrong makes it easier to play him when my posting would just amount to him standing around and watching.
It's been easy to go along with the flow so far, but I feel like I want to see more of the Shadowlands flavor (though the current lack might be because we only have one arcane caster). Looking forward to it though, especially when I bring out my mind-effecting compulsion effects!

Imowen Aroudilee |

I am enjoying the adventure and the challenges of figuring out what to do and how to do it, since I am slow at thinking and have not had a lot of experience - thank you for your patience with my efforts. I am looking forward to seeing where are adventures take us.

YAY!!!
And now I will update my character and get back to you with that info.

This is a good point. So, far this has been pretty standard fare for a Pathfinder adventure (that's not a bad thing). I am looking forward to see what Shadowlands rule set is going to bring to the table other than character creation and a few special groups.

Rerolling HP, thanks for this opportunity.

I love playing with you guys, and must admit I wasn't quite honest when I said I hadn't 'played' for years, what I meant was that I have been stuck in the story teller role for many years.
I would also like seeing more of shadowlands, and would likely adapt it for my own game when published. And to add to that flavor I decided to take superstitious rage power, which will be fun to roleplay(I started a bit in the crypt).
One snag that bothered me in the last fight, it's that summon nature's ally and summon monster spells have a casting time of 1 round, like in 3.5. I know this is something most people don't notice and that I'm being a rules lawyer.

Fener |

Thorgrim, Can you elaborate about what was done incorrectly when I summoned? I don't know the rules very well and would welcome an explanation.
I did not move so I assume you mean either Rudy being sent to attack or the Stirge attacking during the round. Again I welcome the explination as I dont know the rule nor own a rulebook.

Thorgrim Æsgard |

It is the difference between a full round action and 1 round. Essentially most people play it as full round action where you can´t move, but it is more than that. You start casting the spell as a full round action and then at the start of your next turn the stirge would appear and act immediately, then it would be your turn as usual. The difference lies in when the creature appears and that the spell is more powerful since it is harder to interrupt since the RAW forces you to make concentration checks if attacked.
tl;dr: The stirge should have appeared next round, with you casting the spell for the entire round.
Just to be clear, this is not bothering me that much. Just wanted to mention it because it happens to be a commonly misunderstood rule.

Ooh, locked metal boxes. Someone try the keys! If they don't open any of them, Imowen, mind opening them as we move?
I'll take the javelins, including the one I threw which I assume is undamaged. Does anyone need the crossbow + bolts for ranged options? If not, I'll take them for myself.
Crowbar and fishing nets look like they'll eventually be useful. Can we take most everything? If not, I vote we leave behind the least valuable items (like the Ogre's things) and especially large items that would take up space (like the clay pots).
For items with multiples e.g. 2 x Dagger (2 gp), does the (2 gp) mean that it's 2 gp each?
And I don't suppose anyone would like to try and see if any of the items are magical in nature?

Flug Managarm |

Hmm. Flug would continue on, even alone or acting as a scout, but that would split him from the party. That okay?

You find that the keys open the metal boxes:

All of the above are CL1

Most combat maneuvers specify no AoO when forcing an opponent to move. i.e. Bull Rush, Drag and Reposition. Most spells forcing movement refer to these maneuvers.
I agree that the rules talk about AoOs that are between two enemies resulting from maneuvers are typically not allowed (i.e. I bull rush you for 10 feet, I don't get an AoO because I moved you out of my threatened squares). But, I don't see anything for a second opponent dragging my target opponent away from me triggering (or not) an AoO.

![]() |

Basically moving out of a threatened square may provoke an attack of opportunity. The key word, I think, is "may." The character threatening the square does not have to make the attack, so there is a choice to be made.
In this case, the attack would be against Cayden, an 8 year old boy. You can certainly argue the wolf mount could make such an attack, and under the circumstances presented an animal would snap at a perceived threat almost automatically, whether you wanted it to or not.

Or a Combat Maneuver can be used in place of an attack during an AoO. So, I would be attempting to grab him back or using a grapple.

If I use Bull Rush, nobody else gets an AoO either, unless I use Greater Bull Rush. The same holds true for Drag and Reposition.
It's a two feat cost for any combat maneuver that forces movement to provoke AoO's from anybody.
Ultimately it is the DM's call. I won't comment again and only did so originally after a request was made for examples. I prefer to do my rules lawyering in the Rules forum.

Gezzo Wrathforge |

That's not exactly what those rules say and that is why I'm asking at the table, since it concerns my current actions. It appears that Story Master and myself agree on the interpretation of the rule.
But, I understand and respect GM fiat. Gezzo is just a little disappointing that he couldn't maintain control on our presumed goal.

Well! Here is a good discussion of Attacks of Opportunity!

Just wanted to share something with you all. I received a message from someone who has been following our story, and I thought his comments were a nice compliment to the way in which you have been participating and role playing. Here are some excerpts from the message:
I just wanted to take a moment to sling a compliment your way. I've been lurking The Laughing Wolf Inn almost from the get-go, to the point of doing at least daily check-ins to see how your intrepid crew is progressing.
You have a great group of players with an imaginative set of PCs... and I love how the story is developing. Everyone's clearly of the same mind: To weave a tale of greatness... and this is just the sort of RPG that is near and dear to my heart. I figure I've gotten enough enjoyment out of it to have long ago owed you a "thank you."
Regardless, thank you again for providing such quality entertainment for what must surely be many lurkers (of which I'm one).
Keep up the great role playing folks, we are apparently an entertaining bunch with a very interesting story!
