Remember guys that you can use the "run" action, which is 4x your speed instead of a double move. You'll lose your dex or sumfin, but might be worth it. ;)

DM Rickmeister |

...
...
Did not know that. It's like charging in that way.
Thanks Hor!

![]() |

No problem...always like pointing out rules that keep me from getting to combat faster :(.
Oh and it must be said that Svetlana is one ugly looking gal. Had you mentioned her full beard and beady eyes I'm pretty sure we would have seen right through their bluff. :)

DM Rickmeister |

Euhm, I'm all for intimidating them to make 'em pause and step down, but unfortunately since it's PF Society, I have to rule by the CRB.
In there it states that changing a person's mind requires a full minute of conversation (10 rounds).
If you can find a different rule, by all means share it :)
((Unless you want to shake 'em ofc :p ))

![]() |

Yeah, shaking them was what I was going for. I meant "give them pause" not as "make them stop completely" so much as "m-maybe that -2 to atack will make them miss??"
There are probably better uses of my turn, but as I understand it, both guards next to Yukie have attacks readied in case she tries anything funny, so that limits options severely.

DM Rickmeister |

Good call Yukie! ;)
You could try telling a dirty joke. Oh wait, that would trigger "try something funny"! xD

![]() |

You guys are right. Yuki would need to do a full round action to cast it and then it "happens" at the start of her next turn.
A spell that takes 1 round to cast is a full-round action. It comes into effect just before the beginning of your turn in the round after you began casting the spell. You then act normally after the spell is completed.
Glad you pointed it out, I thought it just meant you had to use a full round action but didn't realize it took a turn to go into effect. Nice catch.
As a side note of interest it sounds like you don't actually have to target the spell until the effect goes off.
You make all pertinent decisions about a spell (range, target, area, effect, version, and so forth) when the spell comes into effect.

![]() |

I think if it is cast from a wand or scroll, it may take a standard. At least that is how I think it works with spell completion items.

DM Rickmeister |

Well done lads, i had missed the full-round thingamajig! :-)
Go ahead and charge Halorn. I won't retcon Svetlana so do your thing!

![]() |

Sadly, only a potion turns Enlarge Person into a shorter spell. Even the Quicken Spell feat doesn't help.
Scrolls use spell completion. From Spell Completion:
Activating a spell completion item is a standard action (or the spell's casting time, whichever is longer) and provokes attacks of opportunity exactly as casting a spell does.
And wands have their own description under Wand->Activation:
Wands use the spell trigger activation method, so casting a spell from a wand is usually a standard action that doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity. (If the spell being cast has a longer casting time than 1 action, however, it takes that long to cast the spell from a wand.) To activate a wand, a character must hold it in hand (or whatever passes for a hand, for nonhumanoid creatures) and point it in the general direction of the target or area. A wand may be used while grappling or while swallowed whole.

DM Rickmeister |

Yikes. Don't mess with the paladin! First blow in combat and he drops her deep into the negatives. :D

![]() |

To clarify: I enlarged both Horatius and Halorn, but Horatius first. Since it takes a full round to cast, Horatius is the only one it's actually kicked in for so far.
It's starting to look unnecessary since we just dropped their two named characters, but... screw these jerks! >:(

![]() |

I think Halorn will appreciate being tall regardless :)
As for not messing with the Paladin...Erastil might be an even-tempered providential god but when it's time to get things done they don't call him Old Deadeye for nothin'. :)
Out of curiosity did the smite evil apply?

DM Rickmeister |

Ah, yes, got it. You large now, Halorn large in a/6 second(s)... :D

DM Rickmeister |

I'm waiting for the others to do what they want to do. :)
Can't hog the spotlight ALL the time, can I? :D

![]() |

Sweet.
I was a bit worried with Horatius charging into combat after writing up the bit about him after the mission. Nothing like getting beheaded after saying you made it back to Absalom :).

DM Rickmeister |

You made it back, just not in one piece :D
Good thing you roll 2d6 +7!

![]() |

Switched to here so I didn't drop too much OOC in the main thread.
Ya Horatius is just grabbing him to turn him in with the other two. If he wasn't walking by the morning I'd ask Andre to heal enough to get him moving. How far down was he?

![]() |

Halorn just wants to turn in the goblins and be done with the mission. He won't object if you want to turn in the last group to the authorities or the Pathfinder Society.

![]() |

Let me take a moment to say I have a pet peeve against faction missions that you have to wait the entire scenario to perform. You wait for your cue the entire session, and then when it's finally time it feels a bit like a literal afterthought. Ah, well.
Rick, I'll be sending you info for my chronicle sheet soon! And while I'm at it, I'll be rolling my day job check now if you don't mind.
Perform (Oratory): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
8(

DM Rickmeister |

So to sum up: Enrik lives!
Also: I will officially conclude the scenario this weekend, but don't let that stop you guys from roleplaying stuff out with the Pathfinder Society and/or the Blackraven "administration" or the "Church of Gorum" if you would like to do that (beyond the deadline). It's just so your characters are no longer "stuck" and you can attempt to find a new group with which to continue!

![]() |

My guess is Yukis voice is a bit raspy from the cold air and yelling at goblins. :)
As we're wrapping up I wanted to take a second and thank you all for a really nice game. I thought you guys played your characters really well and in a memorable way. DM Rick nice work keeping us moving and trying to eat us with the various denizens of the north. :)

DM Rickmeister |

You're welcome! Now get your ass to Twilight so I can eat it with the Fey creatures I <3 so much :D

DM Rickmeister |

All right guys, I'm trying to work up everyone's Pathfinder Sheet...
The things I ***need*** are (through pm if you want):
If you rolled this before, please post it again here, I might have misplaced it all :)
As soon as this reaches me, I will place sheets online where you can grab them.

DM Rickmeister |

Halorn: completely ok.
Yukie: day job, items sold (if any), day job.
Horatius: Start gp, day job, items sold, items bought.
Tiasar, Andre, Jory: everything on the list above.

![]() |

Thank you Rickmeister for the wonderful adventure. Too bad I am stepping up to the third tier and playing up with the big boys to save the Lantern Lodge in Path of Kirin rather than causing dwarven diplomatic incidents with you guys.
PM me please for tier 3-5 adventures. I would love to run into you guys again.

I don't think anyone that's played with Jory will ever forget the sandwich.. Was the first time with the "Rise of the Goblin Guild"?

![]() |

Yes it was. This was the second adventure with the sandwich. Before the sandwich was "the tuxedo".
For the Pathfinder Ball Jory bought a tuxedo like the Jim Carey 'Dumb and Dumber Tux'. He berated the barbarian Karzak for showing up in polished heavy armor.
link to orange tuxedo
From the gameplay thread:
Your group receives a very mixed reaction from the crowd. People look with approval at Talhaearn's costume for the evening, and he receives several congratulatory remarks on his getting into the spirit of the occasion. Tiann's finery is also well received; though she does seem a little out of place, her formal robes are at least appropriately fancy.
Jory had let the tailor talk him into a particularly flamboyant outfit that could, marginally, be considered Gokan, and people laughed and clapped him on the shoulder, mistakenly thinking he was part of the comic relief for the night. Eyebrows were raised and a few disappearing sneers were seen when people saw Karzak fully armed and armored, but only the bravest of drunks would deem it a good idea to confront the Barbarian about his outfit

I got a 6 on my day job roll (8() and won't be selling or buying anything.
And yes, thanks, Rick, for running this! And thanks to everyone else for making this so fun. I'll be taking a bit of a break from online games for a little while, but maybe you'll be seeing Yukie (or my other character, Daimonji) again sometime, who knows. She's only 1 XP away from level 3, too!
