Due to player attrition I find myself in need of additional players to continue a current play by post campaign. The campaign is to be based around the Four Pharaohs of Ascension, starting with the module J1: Entombed with the Pharaohs. As with most play by posts the pace is fairly slow and there's a strong focus on roleplaying.
We are in needed of a Healer capable caster, and a trap capable character. Recruit will be open until suitable replacements are found.
From the original Recruitment thread:
Welcome to the halls of the Sothis Lodge Pathfinders! I am Venture-Captain Norden Balentii, and you have been chosen to lead an expedition to the long-lost Pyramid of the Four Pharaohs of Ascension, believed to have been recently uncovered by the, elemental-driven khamsin storms. If you are brave enough to dare to seek out this legendary tomb, and plunder it's secrets then read on...
Characters (4 slots, plus one already filled, an Archivist Bard):
Stat gen: 20 point buy
Races: Core and Featured Races (Chapters 1 & 2 from the advanced race guide) allowed, ask about Uncommon Races (Chapter 3) first.
Classes: Most Pathfinder classes available, no 3PP. Most archetypes available as well, but the more controversial ones like Synthesist are out.
Alignment: Non-Evil please.
Level: 6
Traits: 2
HP: Max at first level, then average (round up, d10->6, d8->5, etc)
Starting Gear: Standard wealth by level (16,000gp), plus a free basic Wayfinder.
Paizo stuff allowed, 3PP with permission, any questions just ask!Your characters are all members of the Pathfinder Society, and have been active primarily in Northern Garund. The Campaign will be taking place almost entirely in Osirion, so knowledge of, and at least a passing interest in Osirion and Ancient Osirion culture is highly recommended. You will be raiding tombs, so expect traps, puzzles, undead, constructs, and all that other fun stuff :)
I do expect character backgrounds, at least a couple of paragraphs, and more is better (within reason, more than a two page word document equivalent is getting a bit much). For posting guidelines please see the guide here by Doomed Hero. I expect everyone to check the thread at least once a day, any extended absences please advise in advance; we all know how life can be, but if we don't hear from you for a week or more you may be replaced.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
I have this archaeologist Bard. He needs to be leveled to 6, but he is very trap capable, including magical ones.. I might need to rework his Backstory a bit, orginally he was a Shattered Star player.
Is he interesting enough to you to go ahead and advance him?
Hmm, we already have a bard, but the Archaeologist bard is different enough that it should be okay.
Gundahar: The background's not really grabbing my interest that much. Is the Geologist an archetype? Don't think I've heard of it.
Black Thom: Hey again Thom :) Uhh that could work, but I'd need a little more fluff before I awarded the spot or not :)
Black Dow: Well currently you're the only applicant for the healer spot :p Doesn't have to be a cleric, but that would probably be useful.
Garion Tathos
Could work Garion, but as you said, backstory could do with some expanding to include his association with the pathfinders, and why he wishes to go raid an Ancient Osirion tomb :p Would also need to be leveled up to 6.
I've got him leveled up, I'll work on his backstory tonight.
Wili Warblejack
Venture Captain Balentii,
Word has reached Absalom that you have lost some of my scrumptious little teacakes again. If this continues, I may have to recall you to my townhouse for some...lessons. While that strumpet Sheila has already sent you an archaeologist for your consideration, you really should review the attached dossier to learn more about one of my favorite agents. Surely you need to add a little spice to any expedition involving that tiring altruist Halistar Goldentongue. You'll find that Wili is quite skilled at getting into all manner of naughty places. I'd appreciate you making sure she gets into the right ones. Speaking of which, I might have some of those for you to get into next time you visit.
Sinfully yours,
Paracountess Zarta Dralneen
Rameth the Delver
A little color for Rameth. This is from his Shattered Star Recruitment, it is his Pathfinder Testimonial
Why become a Pathfinder? Rameth laughs, hard. He wipes a tear of laughter from his eye before continuing.
You don't know a true friend until you have charged into a room of kobolds, or orcs, or Zombies to fight at their side. You don't know true joy until you stumble out of a ruin, almost blinded by the bright light and the sweat, ichor and blood in your eyes, clutching that long lost relic. You don't know excitement until you have that moment with your hand in a small hole trying to open a secret door, and the slightest mistake not only locks the door forever but releases poison gas into the tunnel.
Rameth pauses, fingering the clasp on his cloak, made from an ancient copper coin.
So why become a Pathfinder?...Couldn't tell ya. Rameth smiles and waves the waitress over and signals for another round for the table.
Gundahar Brandt
that it should be okay.
Gundahar: The background's not really grabbing my interest that much. Is the Geologist an archetype? Don't think I've heard of it.
He refers to himself as a Geomancer. "I am the Geomancer Gundahar Brandt" sounds more appealing than "I am the earth specialized wizard Gundahar Brandt"
Genevive Lorien
Here is my submission:
She is also a dabbler in arcane magic as well, having learned to adapt some traditionally arcane spells into new divine forms. This fuels her wish to learn more about magic in general.
A beautiful woman with a perpetual smile on her face that never shines brighter than when she is able to help a friend.

Ring of the ram A ring of the ram has a setting crafted to resemble a ram's head. The wearer can command the ring to give forth a ramlike force, manifested by a vaguely discernible shape that resembles the head of a ram or a goat. This force strikes a single target, dealing 1d6 points of damage if 1 charge is expended, 2d6 points if 2 charges are used, or 3d6 points if 3 charges (the maximum) are used. Treat this as a ranged attack with a 50-foot maximum range and no penalties for distance.
The force of the blow is considerable, and those struck by the ring are subject to a bull rush if within 30 feet of the ring wearer. The ram is Large and uses the ring's caster level as its base attack bonus, with a Strength of 25. This gives the ram a Combat Maneuver Bonus of +17. The ram gains a +1 bonus on the bull rush attempt if 2 charges are expended, or +2 if 3 charges are expended.
In addition to its attack mode, the ring of the ram also has the power to open doors as if it were a character with a Strength score of 25. This usage expends 1 charge. If 2 charges are expended, the effect is equivalent to a character with a Strength score of 27. If 3 charges are expended, the effect is that of a character with Strength score of 29. A newly created ring has 50 charges. When all the charges are expended, the ring becomes a nonmagical item.
Construction
Requirements: Forge Ring, bull’s strength, telekinesis; Cost 4,300 gp
Selective Channeling Exclude targets from the area of your Channel Energy.
Turn Undead (DC 17) Your Channel Energy can make undead in 30 ft flee for 1 min.

Black Thom here... Human Barbarian 2/Rogue 4.
Background and Feats/Traits in the works, but sheet is nearly complete. Hopefully tomorrow or tomorrow night.
From a nomadic desert tribe, went to live in the big city and joined Pathfinders. Leadership through service. Flesh out soon.
Essentially, a tomb raider a la Arabian Nights.

How are you doing language? Common, Orisani, Ancient Orisani, etc...Do we get our local language for free?
Common and Varisian would be free as he is ethnic Varisian. Osiriani would be one of his bonus languages for high intelligence. The others would either be taken as the additional bonus languages for high intelligence or purchased with linguistics during the leveling process with alternate bonus languages chosen.
High intelligence characters can get an obscene number of languages. The level 6 Magus I play in PFS has 12. I've completed more faction missions for other players than I can count simply by being able to read everything.

Gundahar: The background's not really grabbing my interest that much.
The backstory is not really campaign specific, I just adjusted a few details to explain current location.
Gundahar is what he is. An arrogant, embittered, dissilusion idealist looking to get even with the world. If he can manage to prove his pet thesis along the way, even better.
He's not evil, but he's not a good guy either. More pragmatist than anything else.
Ali ibn Sabbah
In a larger city his grace, charm and intelligence would allow him to thrive. Before he knew it, he was a member of a local network of young thieves claiming a right to survival. Pick pockets and spies, they weren't the violent cut-throat types... but shrewd old souls.
He stumbled upon the Pathfinders (or they stumbled upon him, the account is unclear) who instantly identified his potential and inducted him. He was very young and ran all manner of errand and did all manner of chore the older more tenured members did not care for. They did not ask him or tell him too, he just did and ingratiated himself.
Proving himself, he's been sent on "away missions" as part of his experience, training and development... finally returning home. And so, the adventure begins.

Yikes!
Tweaks to language... Common, Gnoll, Osirion, Ancient Osirion, Terran & Celestial.
Also, had missed a feat pre-req... so gave up Toughness for the needed Weapon Finesse! With AC 23 out of the box, don't get hit!
I did notice that. Sorry again guys for delay, just a busy time of year, Monday hopefully.
Venture-Captain Norden Balentii
Thank you all for your patience, apologies about the delay. I've gotta say it was a hard decision, but I have finally chosen the two who will be joining, and they are Fairsplindle Shiningstar, and Rameth the Delver. Was an especially close call for Rameth, almost had two gnomes joining the party ;)
If we have any problems again I'll be sure to keep your names :)
Just a couple things I noticed for the two who made it:
Fairsplindle, according to Hero Lab you should only have 45 hitpoints. If you put your favoured class bonus into hit points then it could be as high as 51, but neither the 56, nor 62 you have listed on your alias, you also need to update the saves in the Class/Level bit, as they are all one too high. I'm also not too sure how you got the skill bonuses listed either. If you could tell me what you spent your favoured class bonus on, and what ranks you have in each skill that would be appreciated, thanks :) You should have approximately 480gp left over (I'm assuming the CLW, CMW, and CSW were scrolls, or are they meant to be potions?) Also what's a quickrunner shirt and where is that from?
Rameth, you seem to have one too many zero level spells known, and have overspent skills by about... 13 points (assuming all favoured class bonuses placed in skills); so if you could also list where you have put your skill ranks for me please. You also seem to have too much cash left over, I see ~252gp left.
Rameth the Delver
hmm that is possible. I was rushing when I did all of those things. I will make a skill audit. I was doing both skills and money on a piece of paper while on a break at work and easily could have boned it!
Also adjusting my money. Must admit that is embarrassing, I am usually spot on with money and skills.
