Incorrect.
In short, here is how it works.
You figure out the cost of special material ammunition the normal way (or look it up on the table of page 141). If you have the Gunsmithing feat you can craft non-alchemical cartridge ammunition for 10% of the cost. If you have at least 1 rank in Craft (alchemy) you can craft alchemical cartridges for half the price of the cartridge.
You pay to "craft" non-alchemical ammo for 1/10 of the normal price, and 1/2 of the price for alchemical cartridge.

I love it when I'm wrong!

Has anyone else been having trouble with this site?
Slow to react, pages claiming to be broken or inaccessible (I don't get the Maintenance Rat, I get The Golem), buttons needing to be clicked multiple times before they work, that sort of thing?

![]() |

Agreed. Presumably they're working on it.

ATTENTION ALL PATHFINDERS
(and potential skittermanders)!
As noted in recent blog post for the August 2025 Organized Play Monthly Update, the deadline is September 5th for players to register their first Starfinder Society (second edition) game and unlock a skittermander character in Pathfinder Society! For play-by-post community, this applies specifically to games begun on or before September 5th!
If you haven't tried Pathfinder 2e and/or Starfinder, now's a great time to get started. It's a great system in a great setting and not a few familiar faces have had a hand in putting it together.

ok...i can't remember...are the PFS1 specials replayable? I played HJC with my one guy...dont wanna burn a replay...
My thoughts precisely (I just didn't feel hopeful enough about the answer to ask).

PFS1 multi-table specials work in the same way as other non-evergreen scenarios (i.e. you would need to use a replay to play it more than once under the same campaign).

Gota be here somewhere, but what is the current online lodge reporting number? I used to report using my own, but seem to recall we were asked to use a lodge number a while back.

![]() |

There is a number for the Starfinder Lodge but I don't recall one for the PFS1e lodge. I've always used my own for reporting but there's a form somewhere that needs to be completed so there is a count of games through the Lodge.

![]() |

I did the form. I used to use my own, but found a 2022 chronicle I cut that had a 2022 lodge number. I'll give the hive-mind (or our local friendly VC) 24 hours, and then go and use my own.

GM Redelia |

There is not, and has never been, a shared reporting event for Flaxseed other than convention games (or OSP, but that was another whole can of worms). GMs report to their own events and also fill out our quick form so that we can know how many games have been run from the lodge.

I was looking at 2699708 - 2020 Online Support Program PbP.
But I have used my own since then, so back to that. Thanks.

OK, I have a problem that seems to be all-new as of the last 24 hours: GoogleDocs has decided my browser isn't good enough anymore, and demands I "upgrade"; now I can't use the GoogleDocs toolbar. The problem is, I don't know just what kind of "upgrade" it's demanding.

I am contemplating plans for a Ninja character; could/would anyone remind me whether "Alternative" Classes (E.G. Ninja and Samurai) are permitted to take Archetypes meant for their "parent" classes so long as they have the corresponding Class Features the Archetype replaces? This would open up an awful lot of options for Ninja especially.

They are not. Technically they're their own classes so aren't able to take archetypes for their Alternative classes.

While Jason Bulmahn said that alternative classes are archetypes...
Hi there all,
James does a pretty good job explaining the point behind alternate classes here, but I want to further explain a few points.
- Alternate classes are really just expanded archtypes. The distinction is that for an alternate class, we represent all of the rules needed to run the class. It is similar to its base, but has a significant number of swaps. There are certainly some archtypes that could have received this treatment, but we chose to leave them as more abbreviated write ups.
- Alternate classes live in the same design niche as their base class. This is the most important part. Although the ninja and the rogue, for example, have a number of differences, they have a number of conceptual and rules niches in common. We did not want to have to invent another version of sneak attack, for example, when the current one works fine for both. Had we invented another, it would have been similar but undoubtedly different in power to sneak attack, which is a bad place to be.
One last thing.. the adversarial tone in this thread (and a few others) can stop now. I don't want to have to close down threads.

And James Jacobs said that alternative classes are essentially archetypes...
Alternate classes like the antipaladin, ninja, and samurai ARE essentially archetypes. They're just archetypes for which we went through and gave you the full level advancement chart for. And artwork too! So as long as they didn't give up a class feature that is a requirement for a feat or whatever... yup... they still can take that feat/trait/thing.
but those two are not venture-agent, are they? I'm sure you know who you should listen to.

Seems like those flags are no longer there and the tool is no longer working. Meh.

Yes. Unfortunately Chrome removed them in the lastest update.

Does this have anything to do with my question/problem above?:

I just want to issue another blanket-apology for my sub-par attendance in many of the games I'm presently in (or in one case, DMing!); I've been busy, I've been struggling, I've been tired, I've been distracted, I just got two fillings yesterday, other medical h@$&!&+$@, various conflicts and disappointments and fretting and other things to do, all that jazz. SEMPER ALIQUID.
