The Little Game Master |

No rush, but whenever you're finished, you may begin.
Light. Dust. These are your first perceptions.
As you crunch to a seated position, you find your family members around you wearing the same black and gold colors that you wear. The colors of Nex? you think. Outside of what you assume was the battle formation your family usually takes, you see several corpses at varying levels of decay.
You don't know where you are or how you got there. Neither do you know why you're wearing the colors of Nex.
You notice the corpses are wearing the Black and Silver of Geb.
As you rise to your feet, and see your primary weapon lying nearby you notice the corpses begin to rise to their feet as well.
Roll initiative! If you roll above a 18, go ahead and act.

Uncle Eston |

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Uncle Eston too is just a little slow on his feet.

Mama Cas |

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Mama gets to her feet, and moves to retrieve her glaive-guisarme. She will try to interpose herself between the rising undead and the family.
"Get up kids. On your feet. There's trouble coming!"
Mama's goal is to prevent the undead from getting to her prone, flat-footed family members. I'm uncertain how far away any one is and how far away her glaive-guisarme is.

The Little Game Master |

you are all in adjacent squares as possible (a 3x2 rectangle with one square missing). Your weapons are a 5' step away, retrieving them puts you 10' from a hostile. I'll update the map as soon as I can. Also it's a K (arcana) roll to identify these particular hostiles.

The Little Game Master |

I had a few minutes at work, the map is up (under "Family Business 2" under my name). Put your character somewhere in the blue rectangle, and ignore the bit about your primary weapon from before.

Mama Cas |

If she has a move action left, she'll use Martial Flexibility to grab Power Attack. If she has a standard action left, she'll cast Divine Favor on herself.

The Little Game Master |

Okay, so I'm ready to post, but you're not all on the map, so I can't give you an accurate move. I would put you all on the map just to speed things up, but I am at an old computer at present. If you're not up by tomorrow/this weekend, I'll do it for you and get us moving. I'm really really sorry for the delay. I picked the wrong two weeks to try and start a campaign (much less two tables).

I'm here as well but I don't know about the other two who haven't put their images on the map.

The Little Game Master |

I've put Eston on the map. Now we can get going. Sorry again for the delay.
One of the undead springs forward at Eston, and bites him hard in his off-hand, after which he feels overcome by a sluggishness, that he shakes off with some difficulty 11 dmg.
Eston and Leana are up!

Leana Marid |

"Pharasma's arse. What are we doing here?", swears Leana before focusing on the creatures coming to attack them. "Uncle Eston, careful, these are human dread ghouls. Their bite or claws can paralyze."
As she speaks, her rapier lights up as flames and lightning course along the black blade.
Raising her right hand, she calls forwards the energy of the surrounding air and the lightning on her blade expands.
Then, with a single stroke, she tries to discharge the energy of the blade through the dread ghoul attacking her uncle.
Swift action: use arcane pool to add flaming and shock abilities to Leana black blade.
Standard action, cast intensified shocking grasp on her blade.
Defensive concentration check DC 17: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Free action, attack the ghoul with her blade.
weapon attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23, Damage (blade +flaming+shock+shocking grasp: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 + 1d6 + 6d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + (6) + (4) + (5, 4, 4, 6, 6, 1) = 44

Uncle Eston |

Whoa, these guys can even paralyze *elves*
Religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
"Yeah, got it. I've done this before, kid."
Drawing his scimitar, he tries to sweep the nearest ghoul's leg, then steps out of the way.
Unarmed Trip: 1d20 + 19 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 19 - 1 = 32
Combat Expertise, AC is now 25. AoO instructions: 10' reach, scimitar trip at +18 CMB

Mama Cas |

Mama has 10-ft reach with her pole arm and 3 attacks of opportunity a round with Combat Reflexes: +8 (1d10+4).
With Divine Favor cast, Mama now has +11 for (1d10+7) and still has 10-ft reach and 3 attacks of opportunity. If opponents leave the highlighted squares with anything other than a 5-ft step, she should get an attack of opportunity.

The Little Game Master |

No crit. No elf paralysis. I don't do automatic AoOs, since you have the choice to make them or not. I'll let you know when an enemy provokes.
Leana's magic-infused swing opens her enemy up, as Eston sweeps its leg, sending it falling bloody to the ground. A second ghoul moves toward Eston provoking, but bites at air as the wizened combatant avoids its attack.
With similar lack of strategy, three other ghouls move to attack Cas all provoking; two of these fails to bite her, but a third makes contact 9 damage.
Aebin and Cas are up!

Aebin |

Aebin steps away from the incoming ghouls with a shocked expression. "Undead! Show no mercy!" He raises his bow and fires a volley of arrows into the ghoul just south of him.
Full attack. If any drop he'll move to the next one threatening Cas.
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Crit Damage: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (5, 6) + 16 = 27
Sonic Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8 DC 14 fort save or be deafened

Uncle Eston |

Aebin, I think you did manyshot incorrectly—it's just one attack roll for twice the damage.
AoO Trip: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
I'm usually fine with GMs rolling AoOs for me because A) I always make them and B) It's easier to just leave an attack routine (or pre-roll AoOs, whichever)

Mama Cas |

AoO #1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage #1: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
AoO #2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Damage #2: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
AoO #3: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Damage #3: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Mama falls back a few feet and tries to remember how to summon strength into her swing as she brings her glaive-guisarme down upon the fallen opponent.
5-foot step up towards Leana on the map.
move action: learn power attack through martial flexibility
standard action: attack prone opponent
Power Attack vs. prone opponent with soft cover: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 11 - 2 + 4 - 4 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

The Little Game Master |

Eston, that's cool; yeah, I should probably do that with you guys, since you guys can do a lot of damage with an AoO...
Round 1
Cas: Divine Favor on self
G1: Bites Eston for 11 dmg
Leana: Hits G1 for 44 dmg
Eston: Trips G1
G2: Moves toward Eston, gets tripped thereby (AoO)
G3: Moves toward Cas, gets hit for 17 dmg (AoO)
G4: Moves toward Cas, evades AoO, hits her for 9 dmg
G5: Moves toward Cas, gets hit for 11 dmg (AoO)
Aebin: FA on G3, kills G3
Aebin unloads into the ghoul to his south, and kills it after four arrows.
Cas, that opponent is more than 10' away from you (it's 11.2' technically), so how would you like to change your actions?

The Little Game Master |

Cas: hits G5 for 12 dmg
G1: Bites: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17 Leana and misses
Mama Cas cracks the nearby ghoul in the hip with her cestus I forgot you were supposed to resist paralysis on the last ghoul attack...we'll just assume you rolled a 17 or higher this time, my bad.
The ghoul badly wounded by Leana leaps back up after having been tripped by Eston. He goes to bite the girl in retaliation for its wounds, but finds her armor to tough for his teeth.
Leana and Eston are up!

Leana Marid |

Standing up from prone should induce an AoO. So I will roll it. If there is a reason I should not, please disreguard my roll.
Leana strikes the dread ghoul as it stands up.
AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24, AoO damage: 1d6 + 7 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 7 + (6) + (3) = 21

Leana Marid |

Then, trying to push her advantage, Leana takes the ghould bite on her armor and puts all her weight behind the next thrust of her blade.
Using the space gained by her attack, she tries to cast another spell and, if the ghould is still moving, fails. If not, she steps towards the ghoul attacking her mother and attacks it.
Lowering her blade, she keeps it between her and her oponents, ready to intercept their next attack.
Full round action using spell combat and spell strike.
Weapon attack against adjacent ghoul using piranha strike: attack: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 13 - 2 - 2 = 26, damage: 1d6 + 7 + 4 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 4 + (4) + (4) = 23
Then if the ghoul is still moving, concentration check to cast Chill Touch
Defensive concentration DC 17: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 4 = 16 fail
If the ghoul is down, please disreguard.
If the ghoul is still up, no next attack.
If not, five foot step in diagonal down and left. Then attack the ghould next to Cas with her rapier and chill touch.
attack with PS: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 - 2 - 2 = 28, damage: 1d6 + 7 + 4 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 4 + (3) + (1) = 19, Will save DC 14 or the ghoul flees in panick for 1d4+6 rounds
crit confirmation: 1d20 + 13 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 - 2 - 2 = 22, extra crit damage: 1d6 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 4 = 13
For next round, if attacked, Leana will use a panache point and one AoO to parry and an immediate action to riposte.
Preemptive roll: parry roll: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 13 - 2 = 21
riposte: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 - 2 = 31 riposte damage: 1d6 + 7 + 4 + 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 4 + (3) + (2) = 17 again Will DC14 or flee in panic for 1d4+6 rounds
riposte crit confirmation: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 13 - 2 = 16 riposte crit damage: 1d6 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 4 = 16

Uncle Eston |

The standing ghoul should provoke another AoO from Eston, which he’ll use to attempt to bring it back to the ground.
AoO Trip: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
He then takes a 5’ step, activates Martial Flexibility to get Whirlwind Attack, and makes a single attack against the southwesternmost ghoul.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

The Little Game Master |

Sorry again for failing to do the AoOs. I'll do it next time, I promise. Also, rule question, are you sure you can do a diagonal 5' step? I couldn't find it, and I thought the first diagonal movement counted as 10'...if I'm wrong, that's fine, I just want to know. Also, Eston where were you before that taking a 5' step puts you where you currently are on the map, and allowed you to threaten the standing ghoul?
Cas: hits G5 for 12 dmg
G1: Stands and is struck by Leana for 21 dmg (65 total) and re-tripped by Eston
Leana: Kills G1
As the northernmost ghoul attempts to stand, he is cut wide, and brought back down to the ground by coordinated strikes from Leana and Eston. Leana follows this up by stabbing the thing through its head, killing it.
That ghoul is dead for sure, but I'm not sure about diagonal 5' steps...

Uncle Eston |

I was threatening the standing ghoul (since I was the one who tripped him in the first place). AoOs are ridiculous, but here's what I use to remember where they can hit.

Leana Marid |

Yes, you can diagonal 5 foot step. Every second diagonal movement counts as 10 feet.
That is correct. The first diagonal counts as 5 foot and the 5-foot step action has no restriction on direction.

Mama Cas |

Cas, that opponent is more than 10' away from you (it's 11.2' technically), so how would you like to change your actions?
I'm also not sure where 11.2 comes from. One straight square and one diagonal square should still only be 10 feet; 5 feet for the straight square and 5 feet for the first diagonal square, but it's your call.
