GM Chyro |

With Father Burdock filling in what Elsa quickly recognizes As per earlier spoiler, the guards take their leave to resume their patrol.
A grey eagle scours the city streets and circles briefly over yours, before turning west.
Sorry for the quicky, rest coming tonight, i'm off to work.

Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |

Err. Why would Elsa know anything about weapons or who wields them...she doesn't associate with anyone like that..except for Grint of course.

Father Burdock |

Perhaps you've seen them as decor on walls, or on your favored honor guard?
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
"Hmmm, what's that?", Burdock pointing out the eagle above. Feel free to check out the spoiler
"I wasn't expecting my return home to be a cakewalk, but I'm getting an uneasy feeling about this."

Grint Mavric |

Or know what kind of weapons the guards of Irrisen carry with them.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
"It's just an eagle right? A grey eagle if I'm not mistaken. So what? There must be more eagles flying about around Janderhoff right? What's so special about this one?"

Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |

Why would she care? One weapon is the same as any other to her....I'm not trying to be difficult...but she is a Diva, why would she notice something as mundane as the type of weapon some bullying boastful loudmouth carries.

GM Chyro |

It's not really far fetched.
Royalty would hire or use employed servants (soldiers/assassins), to hunt down wanted individuals. It's a common thing. Now if your family is as thorough and determined as you describe, you could easily have stumbled upon such an individual or the scene of hiring, in your childhood.
While yet the investigation goes slowly, the day passes quickly.
Upon meeting Gurin earlier, he mentions he's arranged a complimentary stay at his brother's humble tavern. The moon is out and lighting dim low lighting.

The sound of arrows flying at the party enter your ears.
Said arrows must have made impact near, but not in their target.
Three figures have outlined in the distance.

Elsa & Grint

GM Chyro |

A quicky before i hit the sack.
The roofs are flat, the dwarves are properly in view on the edges of the roofs.

GM Chyro |

Btw Father Burdock, these dwarves are not with the cult, don't worry. Cultists are far more shady. ;)

Sivar Soulscar |

Sivar casts Iron skins on himself +4 NAC
Then he moves forward and around the corner a bit to then try and jump on a crate
Acrobatics jump no armour penalty: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
How high are the roofs please?

Thorn Dulani |

Good to know, I assumed this was a simple skirmish, either hired by whoever dislikes Elsa OR the Duegar. Or Simply cutpurses.. then again they are attempting to hurt us.

GM Chyro |

The roofs are 15ft high, very firm dwarven architecture.
Notice the 'ladders', you're currently unaware of?

The darf then steps into an alley.

Elsa, Father Burdock & Grint

Thorn Dulani |

Ahh How appropriate.. The DM rolls low for my save.. My Will Save.. on an Inquisitor, my best save. This will do wonders for Thorn's self-esteem. Whelp See you all a week from now

GM Chyro |

You'd be surprised.....i rolled high on PCs' behalf in another game while back. Took a good chunk out of the baddies.
Or me rolling for Father Burdock finishing the invisible cult director back in the asylum, on the final round, for that matter. :)
..and he drops my monk, with Ref best save, down a 30ft pit in return :P

Thorn Dulani |

Never for me anytime I generally see GM's rolling for my saves its to make me fail. Sure I know its for speed in a PBP but in general it tends to be because I roll middling, and then *especially with effects like this* its more loss of control. Like i said likely I will see you all a week from now as you rolled almost A=max and even afterward if combat is start Thorn is going to be defunct. He was ALMOST such last combat, its just if he hadnt have fought likely there would have been a few deaths.

Grint Mavric |

Grint takes a 5-foot step south-west and fires twice on the green dwarf atop of the building.
Assuming I could see him, by your way of describing them being in proper view. Else ready an attack for when one shows himself.
Attack on Green, Rapid shot, Deadly Aim: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 2 = 131d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 2 = 9

GM Chyro |

Grint readies a shot for the 1st to pop into view.
He's in the far back of the roof and dwarves are short as they are. No offense, Father Burdock. ^^
Elsa & father Burdock
'Almost' is different from 'being'.
My PFS hunter has been missing about 9 out of 10 shots fired.
Although...Father Burdock might remember a ranger missing every single shot in the game, in some shady museum.

Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |

Elsa draws her wand and casts True Strike on herself.

GM Chyro |

Elsa makes her next strike dead-on with the magic wand.
Father Burdock

GM Chyro |

Yes, those thin brown things can be used as ladders.

GM Chyro |

Reminder for those without special vision, the lighting is a 20% miss chance.
As Father Burdock takes to a sidestreet, following Sivar, he ends up next to another shady looking dwarf.
"Evenin'..huhuhuh..."

Evening ambush, round 2.
Thorn explores the city streets.

Dwarven thugs.
*Blue retrieves something from his pocket.
As he 5ft steps east, Grint's arrow takes flight.

He throws it in a faint arc of the roof.

Orange didn't come into view..sry for the pun, until after blue.
You'd get a general idea, however, from that protruding arrow.

GM Chyro |

I mentioned earlier the lighting, Grint, twice.
Humans have a 20% miss chance. Pink has cover from both the crate and Sivar, instead of -2 it's -6.

I thought with True Strike you ignored miss chances...Additionally, you are not affected by the miss chance that applies to attackers trying to strike a concealed target.

GM Chyro |

A homing attack.....lol. Well i rolled a hit, so no difference then.

Sivar Soulscar |

Sivar moves 20 around the corner and attacks the leader?

GM Chyro |

Dunno, but you have some keen senses of where the leader went, when you didn't see him :P.
20ft around the corner comes up in his face, i'll take 15ft for the attack.
Sivar's fauchard swings wide over the dwarf leader's head.
