I use Acrobat Reader. I add comments (Player and character names, numbers etc.) and sign it (also built in in my Acrobat Reader). After that it should not be possible to edit anything.

I'm just curious, as I ended up printing them out and then doing it by hand, but if there is a nicer way (without my terrible hand writing) to do these, that is better.

I use Foxit PDF reader. That allows adding comments on top which works out well.

Quick question - any way to have it save just the one chronicle page, or do I need to print out and scan?

I use pdf24 Creator for this. You are able to open a pdf file and add/remove pages from it. This is what I do, remove all the pages except the chronicle and save it. The problem with scanning pages is the filesize and the text is getting blurry.

pdf24 to extract the sheet, and then FoxIT for adding the information.
This will make life much easier for my own games.
