Janus Alistair Eden |
Once inside the walls, Janus will spend one of his alchemical allocation-extracts to gargle with his elixir of hiding, and stay close to his friends, but in the shadows. If they were to run into trouble, it could always pay to have an ace up the sleeve.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 10 = 33
In the room with the Captain, Janus will use the attention his allies draw and available cover to arc around and get as close towards the woman mage as is reasonably possible without being detected. If the talk was going downhill, it would be best to get rid of their magical support quickly, especially if they had no idea what this mage was capable of.
If we go to iniatiative, would probably prepare to charge the caster when she's casting a spell, if I manage to get within range/have a clear path after stepping out of cover.
-Tormod Hopson |
When Malcom states who he is Tormod snaps to attention suddenly ready to pounce. He slowly makes his way between Malcom and the rest of the party.
Flare Brent |
"Sort of. But no. Sloanne was friends with our teachers at one point in his life... and he was literally our only link to figuring out what was going on and why they were killed, why people are hunting us, and all those lovely details." Flare says, as she shines her polearm with her sleeve. "And since you killed him... and from my understanding, happen to be his apprentice, we were hoping you could fill that all in."
Flare Brent |
"One." she says, taking off her glove and showing it. Which is true. She only has one mark. She's not about to show that everyone has them. They can do that on their own. As it's been, she's been the one showing hers so far.
"Now... what can you tell us?"
DireMerc |
"These marks are rare and very powerful. If you have a special ring they can be used to create a miracle the likes only a god is capable of. Sloanne tried to use me. He only wanted to use my mark for his own personal reason. I killed him to claim my birthright. Like Sloanne there are lots of others who know about the marks and want to either claim those that can wield it's power for their own reasons or like the cult those who simply want to make sure they cant be used against them. I agreed to sell my mark to the pirates. I will grant them whatever miracle they want in exchange for an absurd some of gold. That same offer can be extended to you I'm sure." explains Malcolm.
"Indeed come with us to meet our employer and grant his wish and you can receive a sum of fifty thousand gold pieces!" says the captain.
Riven White |
"Maybe we should discuss this in an area not at risk of being attacked. "
He thinks he has the power of a god and sells it for gold?
Cynthia, Shaman of Hope |
He definitely wasn't thinking things through. First, if you had a lot of gold, you needed a way to protect it... at the moment, he was sounding a lot like someone who was focused entirely on the positives of what they had, without any consideration for the negatives. Not useful, that.
For now, however, Cynthia was simply watching and deliberately not doing anything to draw attention to herself - being unnoticed could be quite helpful, really...
Janus Alistair Eden |
Na, princess was supposed to go missing AFTER this affair, just happened before as excuse for my introduction. We have, currently, no idea about her location, but you were on urgent business when I met you, and I decided to join you hoping to find clues here, as this faction was one among few who could be responsible for her disappearance...
Flare Brent |
"So... big shadowy dark cults, people afraid of us, and... pirates. That's all you've got?" Flare says with a sigh.
Riven White |
Guess we're staying here.
"If we go back to the castle we might be able to find out more about the Eternal watch, it's not much but he doesn't seem to have anything else."
DireMerc |
The captain looks back to the floating orb showing the battle.
"Blast it all why all why are the undead on the beach! I didn't order them sent out! And were is the Ogrim and his golem? At this rate we will be overrun much faster than planned. We need to start making our way to the escape ship. Make your decision quick this is your last chance. Either come with us willingly or we have to kill you." says the captain.
Riven White |
Or we could just run back the way we came into your enemy and have them defend us since clearly they can beat you.
"Considering your position that's not really a threat, we have questions for Malcolm not your party."
Flare Brent |
"Because he's a little tied up." Flare says, pacing her hand on the hilt of the sword she was carrying, saying whatever the command word is, and then placing her hand on Riven's shoulder. If you're going to kill us, you might as well go ahead and try... but I don't think it's in your best interest. Especially since the marks probably won't work once were dead."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Casting Shield Other from the sword on Riven.
DireMerc |
"It doesn't that's the point"says the captain of the bloodhands.
"Some folks are willing to pay for the corpse of someone with a mark cause they see it as a treat... LILY! Drop the spell and do the thing!" he says drawing his handaxe with a flaming blade.
Init (going to try rolling the enemies separately see how it goes):
Thromod: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Cynthia: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
flare: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Janus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Riven: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Victor: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Malcom: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Lily: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Bloodhand captain: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Order:
Lily
Victor <------
Malcolm
Cynthia
Thormod
Riven
Janus
Bloodhand captain
Flare
Lily will drop the spell she was maitaining and cast colour spray hitting Thormod, flare and Riven. Dc 15 will save or be blinded for 1d4 rounds and stunned for 1.
Victor is up everyone can else can post actions if you know what your going to do.
Riven White |
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Blind: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Riven is blinded and stunned for one round, when it wears off she's speak."Just fall back they can't chase us."
Flare Brent |
Will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Blind: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Cynthia, Shaman of Hope |
Cynthia wasted no time at all in hurling a hex of Slumber towards the caster (Lily), rather hoping she could take her out of the fight for now. As soon as that was done, she backed up a bit, trying to stay well out of range - she wasn't a close combatant and saw no reason to expose herself like she was actually GOOD at this sort of thing.
Slumber towards Lily, Will DC 16 negates.
Victor Krishna |
Victor immediately goes "nova", hurling a bomb at the more frailer looking enemies (ie anyone that looks more roguish or magical), seeking to take someone out quickly so power through the battle with sheer numbers.
Bomb Touch Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 3) + 5 = 13
If bomb is a direct hit, target must make a DC 17 Fortitude Save or be staggered for 1 rnd.
DireMerc |
Lilly would be the obvious target then.
fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
She squeals as the bombs hits her and is staggered. (lost half her hp)
Malcolm will attack flare while she cant defend herself.
sneak attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 1 + (3) = 9
Cynthia seeing the caster is already taken out for the moment can change her target if she wants.
Thormod is up.
Lily

will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Blind: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Welp, i'm pretty much out of this combat.
Tormod gets hit with the full blast of Lily's spell, he stands, sword at the ready but totally immobile.
Janus Alistair Eden |
Well, if he fell to the magic, no use wasting that...Janus will move up to the captain wanting to coup-de-grace him, preparing to hit anybody who would interfere.
That is a full-round action, so probably next round, but I'll be gone for the weekend and dunno how much I'll be able to post in the next 3 days so posting already
Action this round: Move next to Captain and ready action to attack on approach
Readied Action this round, Attack any enemy coming into melee range: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Confirm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Action next round: Coup-de-Grace sleeping Captain
Studied Combat+Studied Strike: 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 6) + 4 = 13
DC 23 Fortitude Save or Die
I so long for Level 5 with Fencing Grace...
DireMerc |
Captain is incapacitated so flare is up and she is stunned as well.
So Lily who is staggered is next. She wills scorching Ray Janus.
"Stay away from him!" she says
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 134d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 3) = 15
Just barely missing him.
Back to victor.
Lily

Bloodhand captain
Flare
Flare Brent |
Paging Malcolm. :)
Cynthia, Shaman of Hope |
Keeping back, Cynthia focused her gaze on the Captain again. This time, though, instead of making him fall asleep, she simply focused on annihilating his defenses.
Evil Eye (-2 AC) on the Captain. 7 Rounds, Will DC 15 reduces to 1 Round.
Janus Alistair Eden |
Well, Captain is still unarmed and prone after his sleepy hour. So, despite Malcolms interference, should be vulnerable.
If he managed to draw his weapon before, I'll spend my move action to kick it away from him. Also he's prone, so penalty in melee and AoO if he stands up. So makes sense for me to stay near where I am. I will only shift slightly so that someone could flank Malcolm with me while we both threaten the captain.=>5-foot-step if necessary for that
Standard action to attack Captain: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Riven White |
Do we know IC that he has the ring? I don't recall us finding that out but I may have missed it
Riven White |
Riven throws a lighting lance at the captain.
To Hit V Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 4) + 2 = 11
Fort save DC 14 or target treats everyone with 20% conceal for 1 round.
2/4 today
-Tormod Hopson |
Tormod backs off and stands in a defensive position. I can't see a thing!
full defense
Flare Brent |
Flare stays right where she is. "Shelyn, The Eternal Rose tells us to go forth first with our words and heart, and only then with our blade. By attacking my friends and I, you have sealed your own fate. Though darkness has come, the light will return soon." Bardic Performance: Inspire Courage. +1 to hit and weapon damage of all allies. So Touch 14 and Damage 10 for Victor.
Flare Brent |
Yeah, I know. She actually gets 15 feet of movement, but there's no reason for her to move. She doesn't know where to go, where her friends are, etc.
