I'm not totally sold on See Invisibility though.

Karri Chouk |

Demitri, See Invisibility is not a Daily Spell. Blistering Invective is. But, SI, is a game changer when we would otherwise be blind(ish) :) The *only* thing I don't like about BI is that it is *too* good. Way too good. It is the feat Dazzling Display, with no feat tax, and a built in damage mechanic that can be a damage over time effect.
I wish Karri could take it ;)

Karri Chouk |

Dragoncat, I have been thinking about what Nalun pointed out in regards to Karri's stated alignment.
If she is plain neutral going after Sacred Summons will be pretty useless. I think in the lists there are one or two *total* NE summons. Would it be a problem to switch her alignment to Chaotic Neutral so she access to the Demons on the lists?
(I know she is a couple levels from Blackfire Adept, but it's good to plan at least some ;) )

Yea, I took SI for the clutch moment of having it. I could take Blistering Invective since I'm the only who can. And it would justify my investment in intimidate.

I forgot to address this earlier...
I'm going to say it isn't a problem.

I'm going to be out for most of the day working. I'll get a post up to move us along once I'm done.
In the meantime, however, I'm going to say that you've all got at least an in-game month of downtime before the next chapter starts up. So you may wish to figure out what you'd like to do with it--maybe get some new gear, retrain feats or the like, etc.

Selling a Spellbook
Captured spellbooks can be sold for an amount equal to half the cost of purchasing and inscribing the spells within.
(used this thread for reference)
Spell Level/Writing Cost
0 5 gp
1 10 gp
2 40 gp
3 90 gp
4 160 gp
5 250 gp
6 360 gp
7 490 gp
8 640 gp
9 810 gp
Vreeg's Spellbook
Cantrips
--All cantrips, except those of conjuration and illusion (18 spells)
135 gp
Level 1 Spells
--Cause Fear, Chill Touch, Feather Fall, Magic Missile, Ray of Enfeeblement, Shield, Sleep
105 gp
Level 2 Spells
--Command Undead, Darkness, False Life, Blindness/Deafness, Scare, Scorching Ray, Spectral Hand
420 gp
Level 3 Spells
--Fly, Gentle Repose, Water Breathing
405 gp
Spellbook selling price = 1,065 gp
---------------------------------------------------------
--2 aklyses (small sized) = 10 gp
--2 repeating light crossbows (small sized) = 250 gp
--1 small light crossbow (previously Lyla's) = 35 gp
--1 short sword = 10 gp
--3 suits of small-sized leather armor = 30 gp
--+1 studded leather armor = 1,325 gp
--1 masterwork flail = 308 gp
--1 suit of medium-sized studded leather armor = 25 gp
--1 light wooden shield = 3 gp
--1 light crossbow = 35 gp
--1 case of 6 bolts = 1 gp
--1 warhammer = 12 gp
--1 suit of chainmail = 150 gp
--1 heavy steel shield = 20 gp
--1 Small masterwork dagger = 302 gp
--1 robe of bones (1 charge out of 12) = 200 gp
RAW TOTAL= 2,716 gp (divided by 2, because we're selling the loot)
FINAL TOTAL = 1,358 + 20 gp (Karralo's) + 350 gp (amber necklace) + 1,065 (Vreeg's spellbook)= 1,728 gp
Each PC gets 558 gp and 6 sp
---------------------------------------------------------
--+1 ring of protection = 2,000 gp
--wand of ghoul touch (42 charges) = 3,780 gp (only Karri can use it without requiring a UMD
check)
--5 doses of blue whinnis poison = 600 gp
--1 small-sized repeating light crossbow = 250 gp
--30 poisoned bolts (? - I don't know which poison is that)
--1 silver dagger = 22 gp
--1 elixir of vision = 250 gp
--3 potions of cure light wounds = 50 gp each
--1 potion of enlarge person = 50 gp
--2 potions of false life = 300 gp each
---------------------------------------------------------
For now, I'd like Lyla to have the following:
--1 repeating light crossbow = 250 gp
--30 poisoned bolts = ?
Also, before selling Vreeg's spellbook, Lyla will copy fly and water breathing to her formula book (DC 18 on both cases). She'll take 10 on Spellcraft checks. She can copy the spell, but she cannot use it yet (she's copying for future reference). It'll cost her 180 gp to copy those spells.

Ok, here's what I intend to buy (in case it's available in Korvosa):
Formula alembic - 200 gp
Traveler's any-tool - 250 gp
scroll of fire breath - 150 gp (plus 40 gp to inscribe in formulae book)
potion of lesser restoration - 50 gp (plus 40 gp to inscribe in formulae book)
Also:
Sell Thieve's Tools (for 15 gp)
Buy Masterwork Thieve's Tools (for 100 gp)
About retraining...
I was wondering if it would be possible to retrain Brew Potion and take Extra Bombs instead.

Nalun Elzrahar |

There really isn't anything that Nalun is interested in buying. As for downtime, I think Nalun would want to check in on Trinia if he could, perhaps taking the trip to Absalom, or if not that then sending a discrete message.

Lyla |

Right now, I'd like to get some feedback from you guys--was there anything I could have done differently or improved on?
Personally, I think this is going well. I like your GMing style.
However, since I'm usually the one keeping track of the loot, I think it would be easier to do that if you also posted the loot in the discussion tab, because it's less posts to go through when tallying the items.
It would be nice if we used some search term, like #PartyLoot (this text should be unspoilered, since spoilered text does not appear on the search results).
Other than that, I'm good.
Are we jumping right into Seven Days to the Grave?

Alright--I'll make sure to do that as well. Having something like that will definitely make loot tracking easier.
I'm planning to run a few scenes for individual PCs as a lead-in to Seven Days. If you have any ideas, I'd be more than happy to hear them. :)

Karri Chouk |

Karri will spend her time between the house and the various libraries in town. She wants to learn as much as she can about Kasdaye and his abyssal allies. And, she is not willing to take Kasdaye on his word for much of anything...
She will try to do her research at times when Demitri is busy, so Nadia isn't home alone.

Karri Chouk |

If you ask. But she doesn't really like her, even if she is a pretty good person. Maybe something to do with her attention to detail and ability to see to the heart of things ;)

Dragoncat |

:)
Also, Karri, regarding your wishes of doing research... while the Acadamae would be an ideal place for such studies, they won't let in anyone who isn't either a student or a teacher in. The University of Korvosa, on the other hand, would be open to members of the public.

Lyla |

Lyla will spend her time doing some research to learn new formulas and working with Althea; throughout the month, she'll contact some buyers to sell the loot the group collected, and after studying Vreeg's spellbook she'll offer to sell it to some sudent at tha Acadamae.
On her spare time, she'll resume her search for information on the Fairwoods, hoping to find at least some distant relative, friend of the family or former employer fo learn some more about the whereabouts of her parents and siblings. She might try looking at old ship records to peruse the crew and passengers lists.

3 people marked this as a favorite. |

As a simple reader and not a player, I enjoyed your stuff as a team: I tend to think of the GM and the players as a team, playing together more than against each other.
Great cast of character (and good Rpers behind)
very good believable NPCs, which adds to the dynamics
good pace in the story
unexpected turns
One of my favorite stories to follow. In fact, you're in my top three.

Ortik Gutterrat |

Sorry I've been out - I've been home sick since Thursday, and am just now back at work. Just now catching up on everything. Equipmentwise, I'll take a potion of CLW, but other than that, I'm good.

Lyla |

These items are still unaccounted for:
--wand of ghoul touch (42 charges) = 3,780 gp
--5 doses of blue whinnis poison = 600 gp
--1 elixir of vision = 250 gp
--3 potions of cure light wounds = 50 gp each
--1 potion of enlarge person = 50 gp
If no one minds, I'll take the potion of enlarge person and use my formula alembic to write the extract in Lyla formula's book.
Demitri, Ortik and Lyla can usually heal themselves, so I think the cure light wound potions should go to Karri and Nalun, and maybe one for Demitri too, since he's usually in melee and suffers more damage than the rest of us.
No one seems very fond of using poison, so perhaps we should just sell it for half price (300 gp, split 5 ways = 60 gp each).
Elixir of vision grants a +10 competence bonus on Perception checks for 1 hours, we could keep it as a party resource and use it as needed. Might come in handy in a dungeon.
Karri, do you want to keep the wand? If not, we can also sell it for 1,890 gp (split 5 ways = 378 gp each).
What do you guys think?

Karri Chouk |

Not likely Karri would be close enough to touch anyone: Ghoul-like or no ;) Sell it. We'd be better off with a Wand of CLW, or even a Wand of Magic Missile if Karri needs a holdout blaster.
