Alright, well, Ash, how do you feel about being Gunner?

Borak would be more suited for gunning. His dexterity is higher. If Borak deems it unfitting for a lord I could though.

No no, I ran my mouth about the ship, and you have better Int, so you can swap between Captain and Sci/Eng actions as needed. Also, sometimes Lord Borak likes to get dirty. }=-] I'm calling usage of the computer, and let's see what your Demand sounds like. =)

Stats of the ship, the Sweet Doomed Angel:

Medium explorer
Speed 10; Maneuverability good (turn 1); Drift 1
AC 12; TL 12
HP 55; DT —; CT 11
Shields basic 40 (forward 10/10, port 10/10, starboard 10/10, aft 10/10)
Attack (Forward) Coilgun (6 pts)(4d4. Long)

Attack (Starboard) <empty>
Attack (Turret) heavy laser canon (4d8) (medium)
Power Core Pulse Green (150 PCU); Drift Engine Signal Basic;
Systems basic medium-range sensors, crew quarters (common), mk 1 duonode computer, mk 1 armor, mk 2 defenses; Expansion Bays cargo hold, escape pods,
, +2 Computers, +1 Piloting; Complement 4–7

Lord Borak plops down in the gunnery chair, calling up the HUD with an expert hand. "Well, lets work the bugs out of the system shall we?"

Shoot with guns!: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 1 = 16
Shoot with guns Damage!: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 6) = 10

Ashmerain opens up a commlink to Borak and says in a calm but intensely sinister tone, "Borak, you may not be used to getting your hands dirty, but those bats pose a threat to our mission, and if our mission in compromised on account of a few bats, then Lissala herself will flay the skin off of your back! Now for the love of the Imperator shoot better!"

Demand (Intimidate): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

The bats take a beating from charging straight into your forward guns and bits of gore paint your ship. A few try to chew their way through your shields, but fall off in the attempt and are too slow to catch up.

End First Ship Combat

GM Screen:

On the last leg of the trip, you see a chunk of land floating ahead. It is large enough to land on, but remaining in hyperspace will delay your mission.

Uzur sends a report to the other three, detailing the visual description and including a link to the vidscreen.

"Awaiting Commands," he enters into the panel next to his piloting chair. The synthesized voice echoes throughout the ship.

Do you mean coming out of hyperspace will delay us?

Lord Borak shreds the offending space-bats with an efficiency that is both admirable and chilling. It's as if their existence is a personal affront to him and he can only be appeased by eliminating them with great speed.

As they approach the gloating oddity, Lord Borak peers at it with interest. "Might we pause and take a look at that thing? Methinks this is the only time we could allow ourselves a small sidetrack, as once we land events will move apace.

But a floating chunk of land is so rare I feel a need to at least look at it, to admire it's rarity, if nothing else."

No, this is inside hyperspace(drift). "Additionally, since the drift is a plane that you’re traveling through, it is possible to pause midjump, and even to land on one of the floating chunks of terrain or engage in starships combat. Time spent stopped in this manner does not bring you closer to your destination, and thus does not count toward your required travel time. Days spent in Hyperspace are no different for the crew than days spent in normal space, and thus they can craft items, heal, and take other actions as normal." pg 291

Uzur brings the ship to bear on the floating chunk of hyperspatial geography, then re-armors himself.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

It is a rough landing. This island in the drift seems to be from some demi plane of an earthy quality. Your computer systems pick up signs of elementals alive on this chunk.

Mysticism or another appropriate roll for more information.

Male Kasatha Soldier | SP 14/16 | HP 12/18 | EAC 15 KAC 17 | Fort +4 Ref +2 Will +4 | Perc +1 |

Uzur, fully armored now, waits at the airlock for the others to finish their preparations. He carries the hunting rifle in his lower arms, while his top arms flex with the doshko he carries.

The young engineer emerges from the engine room accompanied by a small, 8-legged drone. This clearly spider inspired drone has a single 'eye' and a small pistol fixed as a turret on its back.

While looking at and manipulating his dual joystick datapad, he speaks, "There were some readings that some things called 'elementals' are present on this rock." As he manipulates his hand-held device the drone seems to twich and move.

Mysticism: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Ashmerain:
You take the device from Shess and understand what you are seeing. These are Ash Elementals and they are valuable to harvest for reagents. There looks to be 1 large one and 12 small ones. You are certain you can over power and collect the small ones with minimal effort, but the large one will be a problem. They are immune to fire and take only 50% of energy damage.

Lord Borak joins the others, bending down and feeling the alien soil. "Indeed, this is a sight. A planetoid of the smallest size just meandering about in alternative space.

You say there are elemental on this rock? Hmmm, interesting. I might like a look, but we should keep our distance."

Male Kasatha Soldier | SP 14/16 | HP 12/18 | EAC 15 KAC 17 | Fort +4 Ref +2 Will +4 | Perc +1 |

Uzur gives a disinterested shrug. "Harder To See At Distance - Better To See Close Up. Uzur Will Guide, Or Carry Camera If Borak Prefer."

Shess snickers at Uzur's comment.

"There seem to be ash elementals on that demiplane. Useful to harvest for their reagents. There's about a dozen smaller ones, should be no problem to take down. There is also a larger one that could be a bit of trouble but could yield some valuable components."

Male Kasatha Soldier | SP 14/16 | HP 12/18 | EAC 15 KAC 17 | Fort +4 Ref +2 Will +4 | Perc +1 |

Uzur hefts his hunting rifle. "Then Let Us Harvest Reagents." He prepares to open the airlocks as long as there's no complaints.

Shess will accompany Uzur with his drone. He will also follow about 50ft back.

Lord Borak also is anxious to see the elementals. And harvest them, now that he knows they're valuable.

Actually he was going to harvest them anyway, but now he has a(nother) reason!

Uzur, Shess and Lord Borak go to hunt elementals. Ashmerian stays on the ship.

You get out and wonder on the chunk of ashen earth for a bit, keeping the ship in site. Your computer was showing them on sceen, but they seemed to have vanished or maybe the Drift's unique atmosphere is messing with your device.

You all feel a small tremor and suddenly out of the ground the elementals emerge around you.

My bad, I missed that.

Shess focuses almost completely on his joystick contraption, except to occasionally look out for imminent danger.
