The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"I'll get to work making an unconscious, non-sentient, sterile clone then. Raz, get your lab ready."

"Of course." Professor Yrrum says as the screen closes.

"Miss Zamarosok, the teachers here are here to help. Do not hesitate to ask for any help."

Image

"Thank you, Headmaster," she said, choking up a little. She still wasn't quite sure how to respond to kindness.

"I'm going to go talk to Miss Jones now. We'll probably have to get started with the procedure as soon as possible. I'll ask her to keep you updated."

"Thank you, Miss Zamarosok. You may go if there is nothing else."

The light around Ori is attacked again, this time from both sides as the dweomercats try to break through.

The dweomercats circling Jeran seems more intent on staying out of his reach at the moment, looking for openings and staying ready to intercept him if he tries to aid his allies.

M Advanced tengu 1/2 Black Dragon 16 Gestalt Alchemist/Witch

Khassar grabs both dweomercats by the scruff of the neck and takes to the air.

CMB Grapple: 1d20 + 27 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 27 - 5 = 33

CMB Grapple: 1d20 + 27 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 27 - 5 = 24

He will then go drop them in the nearest body of water.

Do you have Improved Grapple? That would be strange for a Witch. Like something I'd do actually... >.>
Anyway, if you got it, you managed to grab one of the dweomercats. If not, you miss because of the crit AoO

AoO:
AoO Claw #1:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36
Damage:1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Crit Confirmation:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Damage:1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

AoO Claw #2:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17
Damage:1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

M Advanced tengu 1/2 Black Dragon 16 Gestalt Alchemist/Witch

No Improved grapple, but 50 % miss chance on the Critical because of Preserve Organs x2. Call high.

Nala hurried off, but stopped halfway down the hall and turned to Ryuzo. "This is all happening so fast. I can't even really take it in. Are you going to be okay with this? Me as a polar bear? It still doesn't seem real."

The light around Ori has become thicker and she is no longer visible as the forest guardian spirit has become more tangible.

Ori's guilt over the destruction of her last school isn't entirely misplaced.

Jeran switches his stance to one favoring speed over power, dancing around the injured dweomercat and lashing out over and over.

Damage:

1d8 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Khassar throws 3 bombs at the dweomercat nearest him from the air to avoid AoO. He designates the spaces that Jeran, Ori, and Oneiro are in won't be hit using precise bomb discovery if any of them are within the blast radius.

Throw: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
Throw: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25

The trees continue their attack on the dweomercats.

Attack:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 2) + 6 = 15

Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 3) + 6 = 26

The light around Ori has completely solidified now and the tall treelike antlered being steps forward, the ground shaking as it moves. It's movements are strangely fluid as it ignores the dweomercat in front of it and instead takes a swipe at the jeweled dweomercat.

The forest guardian spirit is about 15 ft tall and definitely has reach.
Attack:1d20 + 32 ⇒ (19) + 32 = 51
Damage:4d12 ⇒ (9, 9, 6, 4) = 28 + DC 18 Fort save or be stunned

The cafeteria had set up a special line for hangover cures as disoriented students who had overindulged the night before began to trickle in looking for breakfast.

After Jeran's attacks, the dweomercat looks like it can barely stay standing, let alone move. 0hp exactly! Khasser's bomb finishes it off as it's partner barely dodges Khasser's bomb splash.

As the trees continue their attack, a misjudged distance is all that is needed for a dweomercat to get slammed by a branch and sent rolling. It's up on it's feet in a mere half-moment and charging back in.

A combination of the spirit's speed and the gemmed tiger's preoccupation with Oniero let's the spirit land a solid and easy blow. Though it snarls in pain, it still manages to catch Oniero's arm in it's jaws and bite down. Hard. It only let's go when Onier's blade slices across it's hide and bites into it's flesh.

"Oh, I know that no one is perfect, but you're so close that sometimes I forget until you do something like appreciate Saffire's singing to remind me," she said with a wink.

The forest spirit lets out a cross between a wail and a song that fills the air with oppressive sound and vines spring out of the ground twining around the dweomercats and entangling them.

"Perfection is an imperfect thing, Kitty. Saffire is the best singer of his kind you know. You should be more grateful!"

While all the other dweomercats are caught in the vines, the gemmed one just let's the vines slide right off it as it leaps over Onierp's sword thrust.

"No foreign spirit can trap me in my jungle. You may attack me with it, but it will never be my prison."

Kitty giggled. "Saffire is the only one of his kind! That doesn't make him any less tone deaf!"

The earth began to shake violently as the forest spirit continued its song. It swung a massive fist at the jewel in the dweomercat's chest.

Attack:1d20 + 32 ⇒ (6) + 32 = 38
Unless this chould be CMB for a sunder instead in which case it would be: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (9) + 35 = 44
Damage:4d12 ⇒ (6, 5, 9, 1) = 21

Also, allies are subjected to the earthquake effect as well. Just be grateful you're not entangled in vines. That took a lot of willpower on Ori's part. :)

Attacking the gem would be a Sunder check, which is harder while Oniero is the cat's target. Gotta love the Hero Killer template! :)

Nimbly jumping away from the forest spirit's attack, the large dweomercat laughs as it avoids the fissures in the ground by staying in the air. With a flick of it's tail, it launches a magical attack at the spirit.

Greater Dispel Magic:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

Oniero Fissure Chance 1-25:1d100 ⇒ 80
With a combination of bad luck and footwear slippery with his own blood, Oniero falls to the ground, but manages to roll away from an opening fissure and then a falling tree.

Treating this as open ground with the trees as "structures" that deal damage and pin you if you can't out of the way.

Image

Good call on the earthquake stuff. Wasn't really sure how to deal with the trees. That works.

The spirit is oblivious to the dweomercat's spell as it lashes out once again at the jewel.

Sunder: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (6) + 35 = 41

Forest Spirit Stuff:
Dispel magic works great....to remove the seals that keep the forest spirit from getting loose and wreaking havoc. Ori can't bring the seals back now for the duration of the dispel...this could be bad for her allies.

Image

Jeran's fissure chance. 1d100 ⇒ 71

As the ground began to shake, Jeran shifted into wolf form on the grounds that four legs were more stable than two. This turned out to be a good idea as he was able to jump away from the cracks in the ground and run fast enough to dodge falling trees much better this way. He runs towards Oneiro, teeth clamping onto the other boy's shirt so he could drag him away from danger.

Khassar's tree chance. 1d100 ⇒ 16

Khassar gets hit by a tree and begins to fall out of the air.

Sadie smiled shyly. "I would love that."

Vai reverts back to her half-elven form, and take a deep breath. She was getting more and more used to being in dragon form... but it always made her hungry. "Here, I know a place where we can go and no one will find out." Vai stands and hesitantly rests a hand on Sadie's forearm before teleporting them both to just outside the Meditation classroom. Vai quickly pulls her hand away, her heart was racing with fear at the touch. "In here." she says, not making eye contact and opening the door to go into the classroom.

Vai instantly feels more comfortable, looking around the room to make sure they aren't disrupting Professor Daiyu. She walks over to the ledge and takes a deep breath of the mountain air, before slowly shifting to dragon form, and then looking back at her companion. "Um... I don't have a saddle or anything, but I won't let you fall."

Image

Sadie smiled. "I trust you."

She climbed on, following Vai's directions as best she can. "Okay, I think I'm set," she said, feeling a little nervous and a lot excited about the idea of going flying.

"Thanks." Oniero coughs once he's let go. He glares at the gemmed cat, which is still watching the forest spirit smugly, and grinds his teeth together. "Distract that thing for me, will ya? I'm gonna try and kill it. Or at least wound it enough for one of you guys to finish it."

"Hold on tight." Vai leaps from the ledge and spreads her wings, soaring through the crisp air. She goes through some easy dives and swoops, very conscious of Sadie on her back. It felt strange for someone to be riding on her like this. "Doing okay back there?"

"Way better than okay! I have never been so terrified and exhilarated before in my life! Woohoo! This is awesome!" Sadie yelled back over the sound of the wind.

"Our teacher just turned into a fifteen foot tall monster that causes earthquakes and crap and you think I'm going to be able to distract it?! Just so you know, you're all nuts," he said grumpily as he looked back into the mess around the gummed dweomercat and tried to plan a trajectory that wouldn't involve falling into a fissure or getting hit by a tree.

The forest spirit lashed out once more to try and break the dweomercat's gem.

That hits. Oh yeah, this could hurt...

"Occupational hazard I guess." Oniero manages to joke.

Vai smiled, though at the angle, Sadie couldn't see it. She was remembering her first time flying. It was awesome, but somehow, sharing it with Sadie made it all the better. Vai decides to take it a bit faster now, though without a way to strap Sadie on, Vai knows she can't do any complicated maneuvers. Instead she tucks her wings and goes into a sharp dive, before opening her wings and swooping back up until she stalls out, and eventually hovers there, breathing deeply. "Flying is so much fun." Vai draconic voice is full of giddiness.

Sadie shrieks as Vai dives, her shriek changing to laughter as they evened out.

"Wow! It really is fun, although you really startled me there!"

Forgot that I need the damage before I can figure out how much the gem cracks, if at all.

"Thank you so much for sharing this with me."

Vai makes a beeline for the terrace, flapping hard, and landing a little clumsily, though she avoids knocking Professor Daiyu's plants off the ledge. Instantly she begins to revert, giving Sadie very little time to jump off. Back in half-elf form, Vai is panting on all fours, trying to take deep breaths. "Phew... it takes alot of energy, but I'm glad we were able to fly together." Eventually she's able to stand, and she smiles at Sadie, though her face is a little droopy from exhaustion. "I think it's time we went to bed though, wouldn't you agree?"

A little crack appears on the surface of the gem, and for the first time since it appeared, the gemmed dweomercat looks less than confident.

Just...let me know if there's anything I can do......Wait. Ummm.....if I make a forcefield that's like a sled I think I can pull you back to your room. The forest spirit roared and the earthquake increased in intesity.

Jeran grabbed Oneiro's arm and pulled him back before he could be hit by a falling tree.

"There is no way we can find a safe path to get through that. I think the professor has it plenty distracted already. If there's anything you can do from a distance, do it now!"

"That is absolutely okay with me," she said, her smile turning a little shy. She held out her arm. "May I assist the lovely lady back to her quarters?" she said, mock-formally.

A card slides into Oniero's hand as he closes his eyes. He mumbles something unheard over the earthquake and let's go of the card, letting it spin in his palm.

A piercing sound can be heard over the earthquake as blood sprays from the tiger's flank, the howling winds cutting into it even as they make it harder for the creature to fly.

Jeran punched a falling tree so that it changed direction away from Oneiro. He'd completely lost track of Khassar in this mess. He scanned the area, trying to spot the tengu.
