Vickory is never one to leave well enough alone, so she pops in to SIM 3 while Sam is there, "So what are you working on?"

Vickory now seems to have a trio of marbles floating after her though.

Opening the easily doesn't happen, easily, as there seems to always be either some lock in place-- or just enough of a delay, that when stepping in, it's Tryko'Sam standing in the midst of a large grid filled room, the default look in some cases.

He glances over, seems to contemplate the form of Vickory and then thoughts flash through his features when he stops the thinking to reply, "Hey there. Vickory-- right? Not a naga." He does notice the swirling trio of spheres, but doesn't speak of the sight.

Looking at the room, then back as the door shuts behind her, he says, "Sublimating ...pet projects. Working up the PE library, various other SIMs. You-- you were part of the strike team, right? Did it--" he shakes his head a second, then refocuses on her, "Are you alright?"

He's dressed in a basic sweat pants and shirt combination, black and dark grey. No jewelry, hair's gone longer, recently shaved though, nearly clean as always otherwise.

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

Vickory nods, "It petered out in the most anti-climatic way. After the demon, everyone else got separated. I didn't encounter much resistance after that either. Turns out the city and it's cult was part of some sort of project or contest, I'm guessing between celestials and demons. A referee of the contest brought me back here."

This earns Vickory a bit of an intense stare session, before furrowed brow and the shake of a head to look elsewhere. "I'm not going to pretend to understand. The place is empty now though, right? Or should we trash it in case those ..." he pauses with a slight shudder, "pricks return and repeat their project or contest?"

He looks back to study her features and response.

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

Vickory doesn't seem emotional about it at all. "Something tells me you should probably wait awhile before going after any more inter-outerrealm projects. Besides, do you honestly think that whatever happens to that city will stop such powerful beings? You can't eradicate evil. As much as it is distasteful, it is the conflict that both defines us and makes us grow beyond what we otherwise would be. Without that conflict, we would stagnate, wither, and die, with no appreciation for what we have. All the good in the universe is pointless if the people are dead, or lack the ability to understand and appreciate it. So don't kill yourself over it. Take the time to enjoy and appreciate the results you have gotten. Don't let the continued existence of evil blind you to the good in world, for that is what happens to one just before their working for good causes the greatest of tragedies. You might be familar with the phrase, 'The portal to hell is opened with a spell of good intentions.'"

Raelle sat on the grass outside, soaking in the sunshine. Because waiting around in the infirmary was just too depressing. Ginni was still unconscious. There was still nothing she could do to help. Melody was still missing. There was nothing she could do to help with that either. And she couldn't believe she was even saying this, but she actually missed going to classes. She knew she'd get in trouble if she was caught sitting out here alone. After all, there was still a murderer on the loose. But it was this or take off the stupid inhibitor and cover her room in math graffiti again.

Seen approaching at a brisk trot across the green is the sculpted form of Ardiente wearing his flight suit, obviously going to be headed to Jimmy's factory for training soon. He's wearing an easy-going smile.

"Hey you." he says as he easily folds into a sitting position next to Raelle. He kisses her cheek lightly.

"Hey," she said, brightening up. "I didn't expect to see you this afternoon. Not complaining," she added with a big smile. "I know you've been busy training. And it's probably just as well," she said, taking his hand and leaning her head against his shoulder. "I haven't been very good company this week. But I've missed you anyways."

The note:

Hey there, make sure you remember to sent Arthur the message about the rift, He is probably reading this note right now. anyway, tell Arthur I'm just fine. I met someone named Susan here in the rift. She rescued me in her "rift ship". Anyway, We need your help to get out, the suit you gave me took some damage, not to worry I can fix it, well mostly fix it. Susan seems to really know all about it so she will probably do most of the work.

Anyway, make sure to message Arthur about the SIM room program...

Outside of the Cafeteria, up the hill and at the outskirts of the green, Fei is concluding a 'lighter' version of the lunchtime training he normally conducts in the basement of Avalon.

He needed to be outside today - his new schedule, now leaning more toward work studies than classes - has had the young monk yearning to be free of the constraints of four walls. That his training is less...intense...than it has been for the last four days is the compromise for safety he must make in order to feel the sun on his face.

It does, on the other hand, give him the opportunity to focus on his defensive maneuvers, and he takes advantage both of the unfettered space to execute the acrobatic jumps, flips and rolls that are part of those katas...and of the feeling of living earth and air on his body instead of dead, cold stone.

A soft chime in his head reminds him that he must make his way to Kuros soon for his afternoon training, and the possible unveiling of some of the new trainees'....'vehicles'. He concludes his kata, and quietly centers himself for a few moments...

The monologue from Vickory is returned with a good long stare, Tryko'Sam's expression unclear of his thoughts. Eventually, "How is it that -- you can, after the anguish I endured, regardless of whether you know the details or not, stand there and tell me to 'let it go'. Then, proceed to explain how it's a necessary evil, even? Is that what you're saying? Just .. quit while I'm ahead and be thankful I am where I am? Am I understanding you right?"

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

Vickory shakes her head and sighs, "I'm not telling you to quit. I'm telling you to not become obsessed, and to not get tunnel vision. To not get some crazy idea of eradicating all evil in the universe and fighting so hard to acheive that goal, that you lose yourself and become the bad guy, doing bad evil things, all in the name of 'eradicating evil.' Evil is a mirror of good. You can't have one without the other. The important thing is if and how we fight for our values. Losing yourself to obsession is not a good way of fighting it. Forgetting what you fight for is just as bad. Fighting against evil too hard will just result in a perversion of yourself, and the destruction of everything you started off fighting for, and if you are lucky, you'll be too far gone to realize that you've lost when that happens."

This brings a glean of comprehension on Trkyo'Sam's face.

"Gotcha. Yeah-- I only rush in when I see an 'innocent' girl being abused, or something." He shrugs.

Looking around the room then back to Vickory, he asks, "So what's your bag, why are you here, not-a--... What are you exactly? I'd call you a non-human, forgot the exact term, but you don't appear familiar, no offense. Memory issues, sorting that out though."

He flashes a charming smile at that point, something hard to ignore about that charm, completely natural that it is.

"Dude, no," he said, chuckling. "It's a food item. You can ask the cafeteria staff for some. They just really like it and apparently it's really hard to get in hell. Or it's just so bad there that it's not even worth it. I'm not sure which. Vickory looks like she will likely be keeping an eye on you. After a short warning she accepts the change of subject.

"Not just about rushing in, but about your focus and what you spend your time on." she sighs "As for me, well, we sort of have taken the term 'reapling' as name. Not quite official as it is a term given by our enemies, but the closest we have to an official name as most of us kinda like it. Watching as Vickory coils up on the floor somewhere, Tryko'Sam shrugs as she doesn't reply to his offer to provide seating, and proceeds to ...sit and turn slightly to look at her.

The effort that he's doing here, isn't (since I don't know how Arthur does what he does, and I presume he's more electrical and mechanical engineering versus Tryko'Sam's non-science work) that easy to follow, since it appears to be happening all at once, elsewhere without much input from him by way of speech or 'keyboard'.

"So, you don't sleep. You don't eat then? Self-regenerating fuel source, or tapping into the ambient energies of the universe in some fashion? More of this 'magic' stuff?"

On one of the screens, a forest scene of pines and mountains flashes through, with a weaving trail being moved over at breakneck speeds. The scenery is breath taking with various other planets in the background. There's no audio.

One another screen, a playground set, with smooth wooden climbing walls, slides and merry go-rounds, the fixtures and styles suggesting cartoonish 'fantasy' settings-- or common real world things.

There's a myriad of other scenes, that flicker along, going in and out, much like someone might be shuffling through a photo gallery and doing edits, but they don't stay on the monitors for very long.

Given the view of below the visor, it's clear that he appears to be enjoying himself, with the occasional smile, grimace and other non-vocal indication-- when he's not asking questions of Vickory.

Curiously -- how is he tracking the energy levels? measuring against energy going in versus received, or does each 'cell' have tracking measurements as well? Also, is this corridor open to abuse by external parties? Given what you wrote, it'd be hard to change that 'fact' now and -- well this is a tasty source of energy for anything that might want to nibble.

Meanwhile in the rift.....

here is a shortened synopsis of Mel in the rift with "Susan"

"Susan" explains all about the ship and how she got involved in this mess. apparently, she was examining an anomaly starting to form in the time-space vortex. when suddenly a rift opened up and something big passed through.

In its passing, the ship took damage and injured the pilot. ("Susan" never does explain the pilot and why a 10 year old girl is running things). in any event. the ship detected that the rift was expanding and could cause devastation on the worlds it was connecting.

The ship started to work to contain the expansion until Mel arrived with the reality bomb and was able to force the rift closed. unfortunately other things in the rift prevented Mel and "Susan" form escaping trapping them in the rift

While in the rift, several other connections to other timelines were present. "Susan", and Mel started to explore these in the hopes of finding a way out.

instead they found one timeline that had a partial connection to Avalon, this connection was very intermittent and random along the timeline of Avalon.

Another connection was discovered that took Mel to the point of Kai's death. Mel vowed revenge on the creature that killed him. watching this event and powerless to intervene, became the driving force to work on a solution to the problem of getting back.

now that a solution has been theorized (which will be revealed in time) it is necessary to put this into action.

"Well, my brain feels like it's wrapped in down and I honestly can't wait until I'm allowed to take off this stupid inhibitor," she said, pulling on the hair clip that she was obliged to wear. "And I think I might go crazy with all the waiting while they're trying to put Ginni back together and find Melody. I feel like I should be doing something, but all I do is either hang around uselessly or cover the walls in math that nobody even understands. And I can't hang around Morrivan any more right now because I swear we just make each other worse. So, about as well as can be expected. Sorry. I don't mean to just complain at you. I'm just having a really hard time trying to find the bright side right now."
"You smell nice," she added after a pause, seemingly out of nowhere and then started blushing furiously. "Oh, crap, I just said that out loud didn't I?" she stammered, totally embarrassed.

"I wish I could stick to help but cousin wants us to be ready as soon as possible if--" And then what Raelle said actually registers and his face goes as crimson as his plumage.

"Ahh, uhh, you too. Er!" Ardiente stumbles through his words for a second or two more before gaining some measure of composure. "Um, we can just forget about that"

Raelle giggled uncontrollably. "No one's ever going to accuse us of being sophisticated," she joked. "But at least I know that I'm not the only one who totally loses all social graces when we're together."

"And it's okay. I know you have to go learn how to save the world," she said, smiling. "I'm glad you were able to stop for a few minutes though. I'm happy to see you. And I really needed that laugh,' she added, giving him a quick, light kiss on the lips.

Having discovered that the roof is an excellent place for acrobatics, Asha was walking along the edge of a railing on her hands. Because it was good practice. And because her friends were mostly either busy or cranky. Or both.

The soft sounds of a violin can be heard from nearby. Kezzin sits perched on a dormer window's roof, playing as he watches the sun set. The song aches of a deep sadness and irrevocable loss.

Asha changed direction and headed towards the sound. She listened for a little while and then at a pause in the music she spoke up. "Why does it sound so sad?" she asked, curious. "Is it because you're sad?"

Lang smiles at Ignace's acceptance. would you like to introduce me to your friend? he asks hoping to make a pleasant conversation and ease Ignace's anxiety a little.

"Lang, this is Phaedra. Phaedra, Lang."

"Be nice," she hissed at Phaedra before she could make any of her usual nasty comments about non firebirds.

Phaedra glared at Ignace and then glared briefly at Lang. "Hello," she said stiffly to a spot just past Lang's ear.

Kezzin jerks a little as he notices Asha and his wings flare out to keep his balance on the roof, "What? No, I am not particularly sad. This violin just likes sad songs. And when I am just improvising, I play what my violin likes to play. I like to play as the sun rises and sets, and this violin is good for the sunset because the sun is leaving for the night. I found another one sitting on my bed three days ago that is better for the sunrise." He cocks his head at Asha, "Why are you walking on the rails on your hands?"

SIM Room 3

"We eat when injured to replace lost material. Otherwise our bodies are basically super efficient. There is magic involved as well. Ambient energy helps but we don't rely on it. Sorenson planned on us going to space someday and there isn't much energy up there once you get away from the sun. So what is with all this stuff, and what is it doing?" she gestures around to the various devices and monitors.

With little movement of his form, leaning there in the chair, Tryko'Sam's hand with glove occasionally moves to touch and move this or that, in the air. Various hand gestures similar to pinching and brushing happen-- clearly interfacing physically besides the mental.

"Gotcha. So no invitations to go snack on something tasty-- do you have tastebuds, appreciate for flavours or such? What do you do for fun besides hang out with angsty good looking blokes?" A slight smirk on his lips after saying such.

Then just as quickly he replies, "I'm creating SIMs, or stories for other students-- maybe a staff or two, as part of my daily schedule. This is both homework and an enjoyable past time. I need to keep mentally busy-- or my memories will over whelm me. Lots of trauma in my existence. I'm going to blame random chance for part of it, and the rest on -- what you said earlier, good intentions."

The room remains oddly quiet, save for their talking and breathing, if any. There's very little other audio and all the monitors are refreshing terribly fast. Numerous scenes, just for an instant or two, then onto something else.

"Because it's good practice. And I'm tired of just practicing on the beams in my room. The SIM rooms are pretty good too, but sometimes I like to go outside because I can now and that's important. And I like to practice because after I've spent all day on things I'm not good at, it's nice to spend time at something I am good at," she said, flipping up to an upright position to make conversation a little easier. "Is that why you like to play your violin on the roof?"

Sadie finds them an unoccupied SIM room and pulls up a menu. "Okay, so should we duel each other or should we fight against simulated monsters here? And how do you want me to set the pain levels? Like totally realistic pain or dial down pain feedback?" she asked Adon and Djalos.
