Vare grimaces slightly at the oversimplification of his life's study, but only briefly, his face returning to the fairly neutral look of staring off into space afterwards. There is a slight smirk at Tryko'Sam's comment about imposing will, but beyond that he continues to be fairly detached, socially. "In it's barest form, yes. A manipulation of the magical energy present around us."
Thinking again for a moment... then saying. "You seem to doubt my assertions about souls... I assure you they are fairly accurate. The Study of the Planes is my field, and souls travel on to the Outer Planes after the body is killed, to become what they may, be they demon, angel or other."
If there is a specific spell that you are trying to evoke Dami, and I am failing as a player where Vare should succeed as a lorekeeper, let me know. I haven't memorized the spell list quite yet ;P
No no, just Maya being who and what she is. Nothing to stress about. I'll post an update soon, tied up for a few hours this AM.

Mel starts typing something on the Pad in response to the news she recieved. but after a few moments of thought she whipes it away and types a single short message and shows it to Ginni.
in big letters across the screen Thank You!
She then sets the pad down and rolls over not wanting see anyone.
In Mel's head she feels guilty and embarrassed about what Kai did. and she also feels jealous of you and Ace, as well as Dom and Tami.

"The shirt will fit you right, but won't be restrictive. Too light for that. The jeans I can make a little big in the legs for that, but they /are/ jeans."
He is half finished with the jeans with the hoodie and shirt on the table already.
"You don't have to worry about repaying me. I like doing this and with my machine dealy it doesn't cost me anything. Just so I know you'll help me or someone else if they need something. Pass it on, y'know?"
He also smiles back at Tryko'Sam.
"No problem with the helping part, but it really want to fix this issue fast. Impatience and what not, plus what if it turns out I was really a nice guy? That could change everything."
He grins at his own joke.
Maya on the chair says, "I believe I've a plan in place, but it will require, if you two wish to participate, a few more questions asked, or perhaps leaving the room so I can work with Tryko'Sam without concern for you both as for doubting you, not in the least, just no personal experience in the matter. Smacks too close to some religion I grew up with, which never quite felt 'real', though, that might warrant exploring anew now, all things considered."
Perking up at that, Maya replies to Tryko'Sam's alert state by saying, "Given what I know about your unique, I hope, abilities, I'm fairly sure the best way to handle this will require interaction with an entity with access to your spirit or soul, which I know you have, and building a conduit to those memories for me to access and store your past, to provide your present self. If Wizard Vare here is able to describe the best entity to ask this assistance of, great-- though I would suggest as little possible interruption as possible as we manage the negotiations. I'm going to assume, and do feel free to correct me here, that the potential assistance will not be free of charge-- nothing in life ever is." She opens her eyes and smiles.
"So, who's staying besides me and Tryko'Sam here? I will not blame you if you wished to leave. Tryko'Sam has to stay obviously."
Another smirk from Tryko'Sam and he adds, "Figured that much out, lady."
She looks between the two others and waits for replies.

"Are you not a nice guy? I mean, I could do without the swearing and stuff, but you seem at least ok..."
He finishes out the jeans and hands the three articles of clothing to Tryko'Sam.
"Here. You should probably be dressed if you're meeting a god..."
He turns to Maya.
"I can work quietly, plus I think this might be cool to see. I might have something we could maybe give them for it."
He begins pulling things out of his pockets, a metal bucket of discharged iuon stones, a brick of jade, a large novelty size gem which is actually made of glas...
Ginni
He kisses her back, then sighs "I know, its just a lot to have dealt with in twenty four hours or so. Heck, Friday was pretty crazy too. And yes, I was cleared of having been the one to have hurt Kitty. Which reminds me, when Mel has fully recovered, I gotta talk to her. I think she can help find out who the killer truly was"
He then pauses, as something Ginni said a few minutes ago finally sinks in. "Hey, wait a sec! Did you say today is the fifteenth? That means yesterday was my birthday! How in the Nine Hells did I forget my own birthday!!"
"Oh! It was your birthday? I would never have gone to girls night if I'd known....except I guess it wouldn't have mattered what with the attack and all....Well....I guess we can celebrate tonight? What's your favorite flavor of cake?" she asked smiling.
Janie
Janie wrote:"Hm? Oh, yeah." He looks slightly embarrassed, and rubs the back of his neck. "if I really focus they become solid. Otherwise they're completely harmless."She blinked, not sure at first that she was actually seeing what she thought she was seeing.
"Does that always happen when you play?" she asked when the song was done. "The ghostly figures I mean."
"Cool! It's like your own constant stage show! You don't even have to worry about adding special effects."
"Is that why you're at Avalon? I don't have any crazy abilities. Just some minor weather magic. But it's fun getting to meet people from so many different places that are so different from home."

You probably have a ton of ways of protecting yourself, you just need to find out what they are."
"Yeah...okay. You're right. Dwelling on it won't help, but training will. So it doesn't happen again." She seemed to relax a bit at this thought.
"Ace"
Ace chuckles "You're not allowed to feel bad about doing something on my birthday, when I completely forgot. However, we can totally celebrate today, but only after we're sure Mel is fully recovered."
He speaks up a bit, making sure to be loud enough for Ms Waverider to hear. "After all, Melody is invited to my birthday party, but I would much prefer a healthy, happy Mel to be in attendance." He says, flashing Mel a smile, which she might miss, if she doesn't roll back over.

Ginni smiled and nodded when she saw Mel's message.
"Melody's throat is still hurting. I think you can use healing magic on her now. That and rest. She's been through a lot. I think we should all maybe give her some privacy and time to recuperate a bit."

"Were you not able to find Midori? Or did you guys have a fight? Sometimes that happens with me and my sister...I mean we love each other and all, but we fight too and I often cry afterwards," she said, trying in her own awkward way to figure out what had happened. Nobody cried that much over a stubbed toe.
"I don't think I want to talk about it right now." She hesitantly tells Ignace, unsure of how to even put any of what happened. "I think I just should try doing something else." She explains while looking at the floor feeling bad about lying to her friends.
Vare, the Summoner
Vare seems to suddenly nod, and even snaps his fingers as if realizing or remembering something, looking over to Maya with a grin. "The Psychopomps are the arbiters of the Lifestream - they guide souls to the afterlife. There is one particular kind of psychopomp - a being called a Viduus" (presumably pronounced Vidu-us) "which deals almost exclusively with the memories of the souls in question. If any being would be able to assist us, it would be one of those."
The grin fades only slightly, but Vare continues unabated. "The only issue is that the psychopomps are notoriously difficult to bargain with. They do not care for much outside their portfolio, and rarely do they listen to Mortals at all. Do you have some ability which might cause or compel it to listen? I could Call one here, given the proper time to setup the Ritual." The way Vare says 'call' implies that there is something more than a simple ring on the telephone to bring it forth.
Rena, the Companion
"For now we wait for Miss Jones to finish working with Ehos over there. We'll let her see what information she can gain from this Shaypeer. He lied about one thing. He used his abilities on himself as well as on you. He gives the impression that he really believes what he's spouting, but he could just be a really good liar. As I said, we'll let Miss Jones sort it out. If he is just a pawn then we'll hope that he leads us to another clue that can lead us to the real culprit."
"Okay." Rena says simply, looking to Shaypeer with a touch of pity in her expression, before turning to Asha and gently poking the firebird with her muzzle. "Do you want to go somewhere else? I'm not sure how long this will be."

Maya stands there, looking at Vare after he mentions what he mentions just now and says, "Well, on behalf of someone who is only just learning more about all this, that is an amazing reveal. I would very much like to learn more-- is this merely studied or written? It wouldn't hurt to read up on this. As for compelling, perhaps, though, I'm not sure that is anything I'd prefer. Ask politely, most certainly. I presume this ritual is a summoning one?"
Glancing at Tybalt she adds, "I'm certainly not interested in tricking any entity, young man, especially being new to this setting and especially if they are designated as a deity or workers of a cosmic mechanism. Most likely, a favor or act to assist might be involved?"
She looks back at Vare, seems to realize she's standing, but folds her arms after sitting once more.
"So... We're going to see if some caretakers of the universal memories of souls can be asked? No compelling-- okay? Sounds like mind control or something, man, not my bag." Tryko'Sam adds in his own thoughts on that, while idly looking Tybalt's stuff over. "What's all this junk?"

Shaypeer doesn't appear to care at Rena's manner toward him, probably due to being imprisoned and seeing as he may be dozing off or something, in his encased cell. He certainly hasn't said much for the short bit after his mouth was forced shut by the draconian security measures.
Appropriate descriptor!

"That was just something I had. I wasn't going to suggest telling them it was real..."
He looks hurt that lying was the first thing you jumped to and his ears fold down.
"It's just stuff I picked up on my way."
He points to the jade block then the diamond, then the bucket.
"This is from a palace that was made all of this stuff. They had lots there, so it didn't cost too much, but it's really expensive in some places. This was just a funny thing I found. These used to be magic and help you in different ways, but once they're broken or run out of magic, people don't care about then anymore, so I just pick em up whenever I find em cause they look neat."
He starts putting things away as the news comes that the thing wouldn't care for his material objects.
"What do you think the psychicpop thing will want in return if it doesn't want real stuff?"

"Betting money they want you to do them a favor, or whatever-- make some kind of promise that you're bound too, which makes sense, if you consider the full factor of energy balance in the universe, coupled with their abilities and what they might be doing for someone. Barter, in short. I'm sure Maya here didn't mean to insult, Catman, so don't take it personally, chill on the reaction-- you're the one that mentioned the god thing. We don't, that's to say, I don't remember anything about interacting with deities. Guessing diplomacy with extra planar beings is more the Wizard here's skill set, right?"
Tryko'Sam smiles when saying the initial part, his natural ungodly charm flowing out, and at last part, looking Vare's way.
Maya looks over and says, "Your talents in negotiating with entities would clearly be much appreciated, if we actually call upon one, as you put it. Certainly not my field of expertise, though I could most likely come up with something in a pinch. If you do believe any of these things will assist, Tybalt, you're, as Tryko'Sam said, most likely more experienced in this than we are. If I came off as any where abrasive, you have my apologies young man." She flashes Vare a smile.
Maya has no where near the charm that Tryko'Sam has, but, she's friendly enough.
Tybalt Baneko
"It's OK. I just don't like it when people get mad at me..."
Tryko'Sam turning on the charm does a lot to calm Tybalt down, though he stills seems to be somewhat overreactive naturally in both physical reflexes and emotional response to being chastised. Maybe Tryko'Sam's disposition is calming, maybe there's more to Tybalt's newly complicated emotive views than he's admitting to himself.
"I just thought we were talking about the nine that decide who's plane you go to when you die. Dietys take diamonds as payment for powerful magic sometimes, so I thought maybe it would want something expensive. I don't know much past that.Sometimes I heard people saying that some powerful people visited festivals I was at, but I've never done something like this before. I was there when Dave summoned a fire muffin thing before. Is it like that?"
With how he's given to mispronounce things, it's safe to assume that Dave didn't summon a Fire Muffin....

Ace walks over to Mel, and a glow surrounds his hands, a shifting, swirling pattern of colors. He places them gently on Mel, and a warm, invigorating feeling suffuses her, healing her wounds. Using Opportunistic Piety healing 45 points of damage
He then turns his appraising eye to his friend, checking her over, seeing if he needs to do more. 1d1d20 + 26 ⇒ (8) + 26 = 34 Heal, using Better Than You to swap out Dodge for Skill Focus(Heal).

you cant use "better than you" because you are not...☺
Externally there is no change but Mel's breathing does seem a little less labored. she has not tried to speak. there definitely was a positive effect.
Mel just smiles, But, Ace can tell, its a little forced as what is bothering her will not be healed by healing magic. or nanites
"Ace"
Ace flashes Mel one of his better smiles "Ah, that's that pretty Waverrider smile. Dom has it too, but lets not tell him, ok? He already thinks he's the gods gift to women."
He steps back a little "Hmm, I'm willing to bet that on top of everything else, you're starving. I know whenever I survive nearly dying, I always want to eat like three horses and a dozen pigs" He says with an easy laugh.
"Ace"
His hands go to his tummy, and give it a little shake, as he turns to the side a bit, so Mel can see his profile "Does it really? Poop." He says in mock hurt.
"So, how does lunch sound? Or would it be dinner? Just answer the same as before, no need to strain your vocals. They are far too important to you"

"Yes, Tybalt. It would be very similar to when David Bound the Fire Mephit. Hopefully less reckless though. Psychopomps are not contained by the standard Wards and Circles, as they do not fall strongly on either the side of Good or Evil, nor of Law or Chaos." Vare says, standing once again and momentarily digging through one of his many pouches to draw forth... a simple piece of chalk, and a bag with some silvery powder inside.
"Fortunately, I've had dealings in the past which such Outsiders, and so I have developed a specific spell which should contain him longer enough that we might attempt to bargain. In the end it may be futile, but that should not stop us from attempting. I will do my best to negotiate with the Called being." Vare says, looking to Maya and Tryko'Sam evenly, and then to Tybalt before his gaze falls to the floor. "Sim Room, can you stablize air currents? This is delicate work." he says absently, as if speaking to himself, a little uncertain with the technology.
Unless there are more objections, Vare goes to a clear space in the room, and will begin to set the Trap...

Tryko'Sam appears to squirm a bit, sitting up and looking at Vare asking, "Hey-- you just said, bound and such, plus contained... is this like a phone call, or dialing them up to speak, or are you talking about imprisoning in any fashion? 'Cause if it's the latter, f~%* that. Not interested."
Maya doesn't appear too put out by that question, but does look toward Vare to see his response. "Perhaps we could endeavor to engage in a conversation by visiting their realm, politely with ..as Tybalt put it, gifts? Is that an option?"
Tybalt Baneko
Tybalt nonchalantly begins to pull valuable things back out of his pocket, with the exception of the glass diamond...
To answer Tryko'Sam's question, "when Dave called the...Muf-Mephit? Mephit. You make a fancy circle and say some magic stuff and the thingy appears in it. It can leave, I think, if it wants? But, since we're giving it stuff in exchange I think they stay to see what you want? If this is smarter than Dave said the Meftat was, it should listen and we can talk with and bargain. Like calling someone to a meeting, kinda?"
He is both trying to work out his limited knowledge of this as well as have Vare fill in the blanks he didn't quite know.
