Boneyard Pyke |

Boneyard snaps out of whatever inner conversation with his ghosts he has lost himself in and looks around the room. "I think we'd better find the owner of the horde. I don't think we need the portal yet. We need to find a way to the staff. And this dragon should have another key."
Perception 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 And another killer Perception roll...

Kracow "Two Guns" Tosier |

Spellcraft
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Though I have a powerful need to go through this portal. I agree with Bone. We should find this last part of the staff. We should search around for signs of this dragon.
Search for where he might have gone.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Gunser Stormson |

You asked for a reaction to the horde. Gunser left a set of encyclopedia. He added to the horde, because he didn't see any other books. And now he's tying up his bag, not filling it. :) The guy walks around in a tunic made of twine. He's not about 'rich'. Sorry. If you need me to take something, you need to engrave it with 'Stormson' or something.

MiniGM |

awesome Gunser. I more meant do you start loading up gold to take it to the other dragon
It is also likely that you will lose the ability to word cast, and instead become as you were before.
It goes on to talk about the necessity to purge the body completely of the mistake before it can be remade in its new magical perfectness.

Boneyard Pyke |

"I don't think it is a portal Kracow..." But, before Boneyard can say more he wanders off to look through the treasure. "Do you think the ifrit could have been the dragon? The only other possibility I can think of is that it has transformed itself into something else in here and is watching us."

Kracow "Two Guns" Tosier |

I think this portal will help in my magic dependency. At a cost though.
Kracow thinks for a spell as the others search the horde
1d100 ⇒ 12
He decides to activate the portal and steps into it.

Mizaru |

Mizaru is not interested in wealth. He is a being much more concerned with abstractions such as honor. Still, weapons are always welcome and he goes to inspect the weapons for a moment though still paranoid about the dragon coming back. He manages to miss seeing Kracow's action.

Gunser Stormson |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

awesome Gunser. I more meant do you start loading up gold to take it to the other dragon
No, Gunser's gut tells him we only owe the spitter gold IF we take it from here. So if we take nothing, he is owed nothing. That's aside from the whole extortion of a promise issue. All that dragon really deserves, Gunser judges, is a sound thrashing.

MiniGM |

All of you see Kracow step into the portal there is a flash of light and Kracow is gone. All of his gear clatters to the floor.
1d100 ⇒ 39 1d100 ⇒ 26 1d100 ⇒ 59
Before you lay three doors. On one there is the image of Goblin, a Gnome or a Half-Elf. On the second there is the image of a Gnoll an Elf or a Gnome, and on the third there is Half orc a Half Elf or a halfling.
You immediately understand that you get to choose what you are reborn as.
Metagame moment. basically because you vuluntarily stepped in you go that first roll which gave you a range of things to choose from, instead of just my three rolls. You will lose your human Stat bonus, if it was physical, and you gain the physical attribute of the new race.
Gnoll +4 STR +2 Con Large; half elf +2 Dex, Gnome +2 Con -2 STR small, half orc +2 STR, Halfling -2 STR +2 Dex small, Goblin +4 Dex, -2 STR small [/ooc]
Also think about what being a new race implies in Absalom. You also know that potions will always act as 2 CL higher, you have lost the ability to Word cast (mainly because it was a failed experiment) and now cast like you used to, and you have gained the feats Spell Focus and Spell Specialization[/ooc]
After a moment the gear lifts into the air and seems to be placing it self on a creature, but you are not sure what it is. It seems to be flashing between Gnoll, Half Elf, Half Orc, Gnome, and Goblin.
For those of you that don't know this whole campaign stared as a solo capping for Kracow and this is the wrap up of a ridiculous choice he made to drink a potion, that has obviously messed with him. It gave him some minor buffs, crippled his casting by making him a word caster, and gave him that sickness thing. Kracow has a choice to make once he does we can move on with the horde. I have an understanding of what everyone is doing in the cave.

Kracow "Two Guns" Tosier |

Wow, serious changes here. Just to be clear. Im changing race but not class or archtype or alignment? Yes, I took Dex for human ability bonus.
If Im not redoing class then, I'll try for a race that maximizes the rogue wiz combo, so either Halfelf, Halfling or Goblin.
Am I able to discern when the flashing goes off and time my stepping through on a chosen race? Or is it a random choice?
I'm OK with either.

Gunser Stormson |

"If you're who you're dressed as, you'd be knowin' his name. And mine. And the others. And our purpose here, in this hoard, in this land, in this tower. Say it all, smartly, me fine goblin, or I'll introduce you to my oar."

Kracow "Two Guns" Tosier |

Kracow world spins then stumbles back from the Gold artifact.
Well did it work...
He looks at the astonishment on his comrades faces.
Whoa, what's with the weapons pointed at me, Mizaru? Is there a spider on me?
Why are you so tall Gunser? Has everyone grown?
Wait why do I sound so ... squeaky?
Krac looks around for something shiny to see his image.
I thought it said 'Hob'Goblin. I must have miss a conjugate in the translation.
I'm a Goblin! a Goblin? a Goblin...

Kracow 'The Goby' Tosier |

From somewhere in the piles, rustling is heard as he looks through his possessions.
I still have my guns, my spell book, my clothes and gear still fit me. I'm still a 'he'.
Krac steps out from his hiding spot and fires a shot at a gold trinket among the piles
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
I seems to be a bit better of a shot too.
GM, I translated the wordcasting spells back into wizard spell best I could. I'll send you my spell list. I still have the Int damage so I dropped a 2nd level spell accordingly.

Mizaru |

Mizaru still seems cautious but lowers his weapon. It seems he's used to these kinds of occurrences in the tower and has come to expect them.
"What is my name and our purpose?" Mizaru asks the goblin.

Kracow 'The Goby' Tosier |

It's me O-Cautious-one-Mizaru. We are looking for the third piece of a staff and a way out for you and Gunser.
Krac puts away his gun and walks out among the party members.
No need crying over my looks now. At least my magic cravings are gone. Well, they seem replaced for the taste of gnome... flesh
Krac visibly shutters at the thought but still he is salivating when his mind turns to roasted gnome bits.

Boneyard Pyke |

Boneyard shakes his head, "Well, you're close Kracow. Sure seems like it must be you unless the dragon is playing one whale of a trick on us. Its actually the third part of a key that hopefully will get us to the staff. Any chances your new senses see a dragon around here anywhere?"

Gunser Stormson |

heh. Poor GM's got secrets to share, and we can't score high enough to read the spoilers. :)
"Well, lads, grand as all this is, it's not home and hearth, nor pretty company, not grand deed needin' done. You lot ponder; I'll be outside."
Gunser heads out of the cavern. Should be a grand view from up here.

MiniGM |

actually gunser somehting is about to happen before you get to leave. I just had to wait till I was home to make a map. I was trying to give you all a shot to see the Ifrit sneaking around all stealthy like and invisible. Only Kracow really had a chance cause of see invis
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Varin
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Boneyard
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Mizaru
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 Kracow
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 Gunser
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Ifrit
The Ifrit will get his Surprise and then will act 1st
As Gunser is turning to leave suddenly the Ifrit appears and it swings it's Greatsword at Gunser. The flaming sword leaves a horrific gash across Gunser's back.
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31 to confirm 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28 for 2d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 21 + (4) = 33 2d6 + 21 ⇒ (4, 4) + 21 = 29
Perhaps you should be more respectful next time snack!
Then the Ifrit drops it's sword and steps back and changes into
a magnificent dragon is covered in splendid gold scales, and horns jut from its head like a crown.
How dare you damage and disturb my treasure!?
Knowledge Arcana to learn things.
Map will be up momentarily. once it is act away

Kracow 'The Goby' Tosier |

Kracow yelps

Hey, its gold.

Mizaru |

Wisdom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Mizaru is caught off-guard, distracted as he is from Kracow's sudden transformation. Unprepared for the dragon, he feels a sense of fear, unremembered stories about dragons now making themselves known in his head, all ending with crunched heroes.

Kracow 'The Goby' Tosier |

Well its no Goblin. It must die!, Krac screaches in a shrill voice.
He then casts shield and moves east towards the Mizaru's postion, keeping the pile of gold between him and the dragon. While he moves, he sacrifices expeditious retreat to make his thundering gun imbued with shock.

Gunser Stormson |

"No thief then. Just a coward and liar.", Gunser growls, keeping right with the ifrit-worm, even as it slithered away. (Step-Up Feat) "It was honor I'd tried to do you, beast, I even added to your hoard. More the fool, I.", Gunser said, sweeping up the greatsword, still dripping with his own blood. "You dropped this...", the sailor said, as storm and thunder began to crackle around the the blade, among the flames and charring blood. (Swift Action, Arcane Pool, add Frost and Shock to the sword) Wheeling the blade around, the seaman stepped closer to the beast, the lights of flames and storm revealing his closing wounds. (3d6+6 heal and remove Shaken, while attacking at -2)
"Lemme give it BACK!"

Healing 3d6+6
3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6) + 6 = 19

Gunser Stormson |

(I'm flat-footed? OK, can still move and ready and do all the rest. I thought 'move and ready a weapon' would pick up the sword. No big deal, I have the oar, it does 1d6 more. Just seemed the sword bit was cooler. BTW, Gunser has a gimmick that lets him re-roll initiative, no big deal this time, but for future... If he has a future. :)
1d6 more damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Gunser Stormson |

4 BAB 2 STR Oar is +1, can get 2 from Arcane Pool... but yeah. Not a full-BAB, and not a high STR. So Gunser does stuff like set up flanks, trip, grab probably high-plus swords laying around...
He's not terribly optimized for doing much but not being killed outright.
I hope you weren't counting on him for DPS or such. :)

Mizaru |

No worries, Mizari is optimized for DPS but not so much for not being killed. We complement each other!
As Kracow heads towards his position, Mizaru uses the
opportunity to move near where Kracow was, switching places with him. He hides behind the mounds of treasure, careful not to disrupt any of them as he takes out his weapon, preparing to ambush the dragon.
Move to E-11, with Stealth and drawing weapon
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 - 2 = 30

MiniGM |

Varin moves slightly and tells the Dragon to sleep, but it does not seem to notice.
Boneyard Will 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Boneyard shudders at the sheer size of the beast and is Shaken
Round 2
Boneyard then moves behind the cover of gold, and casts BLESS
The dragon then moves across the room, seeming to know where everyone is.
Gunser take an AOO with your bless bonus.
Then from it's new position the Dragon opens it's maw and sends a massive blast of vibration, only Gunser is missed.
DC 23 Reflex for half. Mizaru and Kracow you get +2 for being behind the gold
10d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1, 1, 4, 6, 3, 2, 1) = 25
