Limping into position while staunching a bit of bleeding burnt flesh, Hon looks a little worse for the effort and right mighty pissed. He tries to get a view of the controlling bug as well to see if he can get a line of sight shot. Free action? perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Khazad fells two bugs with the axe as it sings a battle dittle. Hon and Nar watch as from the cave the leader bug with the head almost too large for his torso fires a small pebble that explodes above the berm quickly engulfing the entire berm in cloud of fire.

The blast injures some of the bugs near the berm, but they seem to resist some of the fire.
Seeing the success of this blast, IT fires another small pebble identical to the first explodes again in fire targeting the entire berm area and some bugs in collateral damage.

Whoa! Is it a spell-like effect, by any chance?

The two fiery detonations are spell-like effects. The bugs continue to rush over the walls and envelope the berm. They seem to be fighting a holding action against the barbarians. They bugs do however concentrate on a fire savaged human barbarian and tear through his breastplate to bring him down next to the berm.

The bugs surrounding the berm are waiting to attack anyone weak from the blast to concentrate on (as evidenced by the human barbarian shreaded and bleeding. The bugs seem to be very coordinated in their actions. Two Reflex saves against the spell like effects for half.

Everyone feels a telepathic presence. 'Resistance is futile--you are food for the OVERMIND'

DC10 fear efffect (not spell like) or shaken (banner=+1)

Khazad manages to avoid the blast wave, but his metal full plate heats up and burns his limbs. He is almost disoriented by the sudden presence of an alien voice in his head, but the sight of the Dwarven banner reinvigorates him.

The first blast seems to dissipate around Gallak as it melts the ice below his feet, and barely ruffles his beard. The second, however, fills the air with fire, even singeing his beard. He brushes at it with annoyance, but the greater part of his skin is covered in either angry red blisters or the blackened remnants of skin.
Bugger that, He declares in a voice choked by smoke, and coughs up blood.

Kib's spell is finally finished, but the first thing newly enlarged Khazad sees is another fiery explosion.

Khazad looks on his greaves and sees they became red-hot. He feels the skin bubbling up inside on contact with the metal. He lets out a pain-induced warcry as he strikes with his now literally great axe at the nearest bugs:

Nar and Hon point out a bug with a large misshapen head as it releases two consecutive burst of flame over everyone. It is on the map in the tunnel mouth, the mystery of how the web was dissolved is now solved.

All cloaks are not alike--four of them are elven cloaks and allow the user to hide easier. That is if the user doesn't mind using something with elf in the name.
Other eight are +1 cloak of resistance (+1 to all saves)
These cloaks all had the dark owl clasps on them.

Ah. That was the mistake, Cloak of Resistance vs Protection. Hon's AC remains 18. Such is life. The bad news: The ant bit and burnt Hon for 11. The Good news: Hon now made his second reflex save and avoided 15 Dmg (reflex save for half dmg, Rogue Evasion for no dmg). He remains viable and active at 8HP. Rock on.
Hon's round 4 Action pending teams' remaining reflex save posting.


Hon:
With the +1 cloak, Hon makes a 15 total reflex save and the save was at DC 16. With rogue evasion I think you still take full damage with a miss. Hon's hp should be 8+5+5+3CON=21 and not 19 as on the character sheet and +3 more if the Favored class bonuses go into hp.

Also, the bugs have attacked the weak barbarians. They have all moved but are waiting to attack the dwarf team pending saves too.

BigMug and Magnum avoid the worst of the blast, but still are singed.

Gallak, Magnum, and Khazad are attacked by a few bugs each. Magnum and Gallak each take moderate bites 6hp physical each while no bugs can penetrate Khazad's armor.
Kragg is attacked by five bugs from the front and side of the berm and three bites connect 22hp of damage physical and the dice bot was smiling on them
Gallak is still conscious and notices that the bites are not infused with fire, as the queen's arcane magic seems to have been fed by the proximity and power of her hive which she can drain as an arcane magic battery.

Nar will be up and acts near simultaneously to the blast and bug attacks. Khazad has not attacked and left the berm yet.

spellcraft DC 17:
Queen generated two spell-like fireballs with her bodyguard bug's help

Knowledge Arcane DC15:
Although this magic is somewhat similar to elemental arcane magic, it is more like sorcery as it is innate But it requires tapping the surroundings and allied creatures for extreme heat and cold.


"That smarted, thank my hobbit friends for the grace of cats in a bottle." He is singed and his chain shirt is dented from a huge bug bite.

"It may be time to throw the hammer and hope for a better result with the little earthquake than last time."

From Khazad's new height, the bugs looks small and harmless, if still disgusting. He is outraged to see his comrades fall under their bites.
"I AM NOT AFRAID OF BLOODY ANTS!"

looks like I'm out of luck this round, but in case by some miracle a space clears in front of Khazad, he will move forward to reach the brain bug ASAP.


Healing energy washes over the dwarves and gnomes. Then Nar's disembodied weapon cuts into the queen bug. As it cuts her, some of the damage can be seen on the surrounding guard bugs.

spellcraft DC 17:
The effects seem similar to a Shield Other spell cast from guard bugs to absorb damage on the queen.

Kib quickly gains consciousness and jumps to his feet and fires a fireball into the tunnel. It has almost no effect on the queen and her larger entourage, but some surrounding bugs are singed. Khazad hits the bugs and steps out of the berm.
Separate spellcraft DC 17:
The fire damage around the queen and her entourage seems to be quickly 'recharging' her ability to do nasty fire effects.

Khazad's action had happened--I was mistaken on the timing. Khazad cleared out the bugs and stepped outside the berm. Rerolling is not necessary, so the 2 does not happen.

His path to the Queen bug unexpectedly blocked by Sir Wheatfield, Khazad reaches out for the Guard Bug 10ft. in front of him.

Magnum throws his magic hammer down the tunnel as far as he can invoking the earthquake power.

The queen bug, two of her entourage, two thirds of the bugs surrounding the berm, and everyone in the berm who doesn't make a FORT DC 16 is stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 4 rounds. The fourth large guard bug is no longer moving after a devastating axe hit, and ichor is flowing from a huge hit to the thorax.
For Kragg, prone on the ground and enlarged, the DC for the earthquake save is 22. For Khazad, with 4x contact with the ground, the DC is 20.

Hon's crossbow is tossed up into the air as he scrambles to maintain footing from the physical shockwave. This is followed immediately by the pressure shockwave focused by the tunnel, which delivers a broadside hit like a Stone Giant's two-handed maul. Unfocused eyes inform him of no enemy within reach, which he finds reassuring but a wave of guilt shortly follows for he knows not the status of his dwarven brethren nor could help them if he did.


The Hobbit stabs at the queen completely missing twice after being somewhat affected by the huge quake after Nar softens them up with a burst of sound and a force weapon. The small warhorse completely destroys a big big with two good blows.
