As LeVash finally hits his mark theres this immense and sudden string of utter failures. By the last hour Robahl's voice is near hoarse from all the frustrated shouts and angry insults. At last he hurls his copy of the cript down and kicks a table over shouting "Hopeless! HOPELESS! Medicority! I'm surrounded by talent less mediocrity! No! WORSE! I'm surrounded by people who can't even pretend they're acting! ARGH!"
With that he storms off to a bemused smirk from Thesing and a worried look from the women of the play.
As all of you go to have your costumes and make-up removed Robahl chases down LeVash holding a circlet in his hand."It’s unfortunately too late to fire you and find a better actor, or to hire a second illusionist to replace you with an effect. We’re all stuck with you, is what I’m saying, so to soften the blow of your dulcet tones, I think you should wear this during the play.” Robahl hen hands LeVash a circlet of persuasion.
Technically Asmodia's failed the most perform rolls. But, LeVash is close and being the star of the play Robahl feels he needs the bonus more.

Asmodia Crispin |

I asked in the OOC because it would be Asmodia's recommendation to buy a wand of cure light wounds so she doesn't have to spend all of her spells just keeping people alive. Buffs like Bull's Strength might keep us all alive.
Also, I am pretty sure that Asmodia has failed ALL of her perform rolls. Except those that required entertaining Thesing.

And Levash has failed nearly all as well. But, it's as much a difference of character as well and taking your advice to heart. A bad actor playing tybain is at least amusing. A bad actor playing Larazod is just a sore mark.

Asmodia Crispin |

Is this the part where Asmodia and Bloodless break up? *sniffles*
Asmodia is inured to Robhal's abuse. She recognizes that Tybain's part is scarcely integral, and she spends her otherwise idle hours reading the play in its entirety. She has no desire to speak to the cast members, as short live as their "friendship" might be, considering the opening date of the play.
Whenever she sees Thesing, she teases him by bearing her teeth in a feral "smile."

Bejis Krupt |

Bejis does want to go shopping today, while we can. At a minimum, he would like to stock up on more Shoanti Barbarian Chew.

LeVash |

LeVash nods, "Understood. I make no claims to skill in acting, so I'll take any advantage offered."
He'll take the circlet, but won't immediately don it.
In the morning, he'll switch out Spark for Detect Magic and will check over the circlet to make sure it is no more than he says it is.
Spellcraft (+Guidance) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15...not that I'm going to figure anything out with that roll.
On the next day, he'll show up wearing the circlet.

Aerieth Deventis |

Asmodia - I know Enlarge Person and can create a scroll. It will cost 25/50/75 gp for level 1/2/3 respectively (3 minutes for level 3). I have magical knack and, thus, my CL is 2 higher than my actual level. Also look at my list of spells if there are any other scrolls you might want. I have a bunch of scrolls already if we need any. I can also memorize it. I will have to decide what to memorize going into the final day.

Bloodless |

Bloodless relies on wit and steel, and has no other nifty preparations to make... sadly.
Instead he will just roll with the punches and see what happens, and of course help out in any way he can :)

Bejis Krupt |

Enlarge person would put Bejis up to +22 STR during a rage, should go from +7 to +9 damage for a 2 handed weapon. AC won't be so good.
Bejis wants to ensure that we have sufficient healing/recovery available. An enlarge person or two might be helpful, but if a combat runs longer than one minute, we have other problems.

Asmodia Crispin |

Okay, so Wand of Cure Light, Aerieth makes some scrolls of Enlarge Person. Buy some scrolls of Bless, and Asmodia prepares Shield of Faith in her first level spell slots, and Bull's Strength in her 2nd and maybe try to find a depleted Wand of Lesser Resto if we have the money, if not 2 scrolls at least and she prepares them in her second level slots?
Last cleric I played at table was level 15, so I'm really having a disconnect with how much a level 3 sucks. :P

Pavo Wintrish |

No 'shopping' per se, but are there any kind of berry in season? If so, Pavo will go out and pick some and use Goodberry on them, creating 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 berries.
Also, during that last evening home, Pavo will hunt down Solan and try to reason with him...and will wear the circlet while doing so.
"Solan, we need to talk. I've been avoiding this, because our last discussion ended so badly, but I'm realizing it's not just myself I'm putting in danger by letting this lie...not to mention I was unsure I was going to make it to this point"
"You remember the play you told me you'd be 'attending'? Well...I'm in it, the lead, in fact, although under an assumed name. Just telling you that is a major act of trust for me, so please hear me out."
"It's important to me not only that I and my companions survive, but that we do well. So I'm asking you, as your brother, please don't interfere in the play. We're going to have a tough enough time surviving the inherent dangers of the play without additional surprises, and I don't want to risk the audience on top of that.
"Can you do this for me?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

TarkXT |

Your brother is practicing his archery in the courtyard where you find him. He doesn't say anything to you for a moment before he puts the bow down.
"Oh, my dear brother wishes to actually speak with me again?" He smiels humorlessly."Even you have to admit there was only one way to deal with that man. But that's not why you are here. No I've no plans to interfere though I don't cherish the thought of you going so beneath your station for sucha barbaric performance. Besides, that would be rude to my date."

TarkXT |

Solan shrugs. "Another rat scuttling around the feet of the masses. Go down a street and you'll kick a few no matter how carefully you step. You should be thanking me brother. Now your alter ego won't have to go through the shameful embarassment of failure. He'd have simply got over it in the long run, found another child, or perhaps even an entire pack of children all born from the infested worm ridden corpse of a mother that this city is. But go, enjoy getting tied to the rack and whipped Larazod. I'll leave all the nights surprises to you. Oh by the by I would suggest writing some form of will or making arrangements for burial. All told the play's reputation is quite nasty. While I don't relish the idea of seeing your bloodied corpse I desire trying to guess your postmortem desires even less." As he listens he downs a goblet of whine and picks up his bow once more.

Bejis Krupt |

Drat! *grumbles* Okay, we sell the +1 mace and get a Wand of Cure Light Wounds and 3 scrolls of Lesser Restoration.
I really don't know what happened to the mace, and I don't have time to search it out. I think it got absorbed into the League somewhere...
I assume we will have some time between fight scenes to heal up, hopefully backstage? As long as I can replenish by hit point pool, we can hopefully conserve our other resources longer (spells/abilities).
Bejis wants to buy 4 more Shaonti Barbarian Chews. Only 1 gp a piece. If I understand it correctly, it gives 1 "free" round of rage after I end spending my rage pool.

TarkXT |

As you get to the limehouse theatre around noon to get dressed adn ready for the official dress rehearsal the usual crowd around the theatre has grown. You suspect taht by the size of the crowd some souls were willing to risk the shadowbeasts to ensure that they could be first in line to see the amusement of missed lines, not so special effects, and missed cues. The size is intimidating and you're met with cheers and jeers, and jokes. This sin't quite the admiring or curious crowd you've come to expect over the past several days. In fact looking out much of the crowd's typical middle to upper class crowd has been replaced with lower class laborers, backstage workers, street performers, dock workers, and other types more amused by a pie to the face then an eloquently delivered line. And with it comes the smell. The smell of rotten vegetables, old fish, eggs that are way past their due date. As you walk through the crowd to the din you suddenly wish very much to have been back in that dark hole fighting tieflings and your own fears.
As you get ready for the rehearsal memorizing and rememorizing your lines and cues over and over again the professionals comment at the growing crowd just beyond the stage.
"By the Prince's Greasy Goatee just what is that smell!?!" Delour says fanning herself with a lacy fan.
"Smells like, cabbage, tomatoes, hmmm, last weeks catch. Could make a salad from it." Millech jokes as he starts climbing up into the rafters.
Calseinica ignores the growing din outside and continues to look ovef her lines sashaying too and fro as she practices her motions.
Robahl emerges from the back and offers a last piece of advice.
“Do your job. Ignore the rabble. If they throw something, take it and
move on. Anything less than them actually starting a fire
is not cause to stop the performance.”
Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. NOW ON WITH THE PUBLIC DRESS REHEARSAL!
This is how it'll work.Larazod will be making a series of 7 perform rolls DC20. Each of you will be attempting to aid another. Success is good. Failure is bad. Got it? Rather then making all the rolls at once make one roll describing how your character treats the performance and puts his own personal twists on the character. Good prose will get you a +2 bonus on your roll. Otherwise treat this like a seven round combat. You do not need to type out your lines. That can wait until the actual play on the next day.
Act 1

TarkXT wrote:Larazod will be making a series of 7 perform rolls DC20. Each of you will be attempting to aid another.Just making sure that's not a typo. Larazod (LeVash) will be rolling the critical Perform (Acting) check per Act, the rest of us are supporting him?
Not a typo. That's exactly what the AP calls for.

Asmodia Crispin |

Well, I've blown my Nat 20 for the game, so, let's do this
Asmodia Untrained Perform Act 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 oh what in the...
Morning star appraised value = 1154
Wand of Cure Light - Fully Charged 750 gp
Scroll of Lesser Resto - 300gp
leaving us with 100gp for Miss Aerieth to work up some 1st level scrolls of enlarge person (should not need it for more than a minute at a time). Asmodia will prepare Shield of Faith, assuming that Bejis does not have a deflection AC item that it will not stack with already, and more lesser restoration. Good?

Aerieth Deventis |

If TarkXT will allow a little retcon, I can easily have scrolled 1 enlarge person per day. They are 12.5gp for CL 1 and 25 gp for CL 2. I can only create 1 per day, so I will only be able to scribe 1-2 if we only have 2 days. Probably 4 total if I can retcon.
Will try to get a full post of my actions, and likely incompetence, later this evening.

Asmodia Crispin |

Asmodia supports Shade in a startlingly accurate performance. Any who are close note the lack of the alcohol smell on her breath, clothes and hair. When Bejis also delivers a stellar performance as Krona, she with mercilessly sexually harass his female half orc off stage and grab his fake boobies and butt like a patron at her job.

LeVash |

FWIW, At each point that LeVash is about to walk on stage, he'll using Guidance to give his entrances a bit of punch. That is not reflected (if it will have an effect) in the roll below, nor are any leftover acting bonuses from earlier...wasn't sure if they were included. Nor am I including any bonuses from Aid Another.
Perform (Acting) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9...yick, better hope those bonuses pile up.
LeVash stalks on stage, perhaps giving Lazarod too dark an aspect for a theoretically heroic role. LeVash's Lazarod is defiant, but icy cold.

Aerieth Deventis |

Recalling with disdain the aloof and disrespectful elders who forced Aerieth to leave her home after her parents died, Aerieth channels her disdain for their concern for only themselves and their direct charges into her roll as Dentris. All the scholarly elders, the self involved wizards, and the other elves who disrespected her and chased her out of town.
Aerieth carries her head high, and speaks down to Larazod, Dentris' charge.
Perform(Assist): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

TarkXT |

It occured to me bloodless sint even in this act. So moving on.
As each of you speak your lengthiest lines adding to the overall excellence of LeVash's performence all of the other actors easily and effortlessly hit their cues. Calseinica effortlessly transforms from a slightly naieve and starry eyed waif to a sultry clever temptress who cna easily take the hearts, and more, of any man she chooses.
The crowd sheers, some goats bay, and a flock of chickens panics and flocks into the air before settling back into the crowd. Suddenly the rumors of the Limehouses wild crowd become all the more deserved. As the curtain descends the set is changed once again and within a few minutes the curtain raises again.
ACT 2!

Aerieth Deventis |

Perform(Assist): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Recalling the pain I felt when I was exiled from my home, I vehemently present my lines supporting LeVash. As I gracefully move across the stage, I add numerous flourishes reminiscent of the unholy motions used by adherents of Asmodius.

Bloodless |

Noticed that too on a re-reading!
Perform 1d20 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 4 + 2 + 2 = 24
Bloodless plays his part as Drovalid just like he has been practicing.
He plays on the contrast of his white skin against the black leather, and he gently strokes the instruments of pain with menace and malice.
Each line is delivered with gusto, however with each lash he yells too, helping increase the volume of the cries from the torture session, each swing of the lash completed with a flourish and some fanfare, one eye to the audience as if seeking their support in his bloodlust... as though the more they yell, the harder and more brutal will be the strikes.

Bejis Krupt |

Peform (Acting): 1d20 - 1 + 3 ⇒ (12) - 1 + 3 = 14 (+3 from misc. bonuses)
Bejis delivers Krona's line of internal conflict between Drovalid and Larazod somewhat flatly. However, he draws deep into his internal hatred for the call of damnation, ending the performance on a note full of emotion.
If we only need a 10 to assist for +2, LeVash should now hit DC20.

Asmodia Crispin |

Oh boy, can't wait for Act 3! :P
Asmodia untrained Perform Act 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 oh my... you know when the actual show requires checks, I am going to roll all ones.
Asmodia manages to withhold the venom in her voice when forced to deliver Tybain's lines about how great Lazarod is when he is the most just servant of Asmodeus in the trial.
"Ha! Even in the face of soul-crushing pain, he taunts this ridiculous Magistrate of Hell. Hear me, Aroden, if Asmodeus has such as Larazod in his employ, all our efforts are doomed. Would that you could command such steadfast loyalty as this one here, who laughs at death and grins at the grimmest pain."
Secretly, however, Asmodia is getting quite a kick out of watching Bloodless beat on Shade. It is almost... cathartic.
