on the drop ship, Calahan falls back asleep, and wakes up when groundfall is made. As soon as touchdown is made, Calahan is up on his feet rolling his neck, arms, hips and knees and ankles, loosening himself up. When the hatch opens, Calahan jumps out and provides cover to the rest of the party. As they leap out, He tells them alright ladies, we are code black. weapons hot. keep your heads on a swivel, and check your sectors of fire. Keep the weapons safetied until the enemy is encountered. I dont want any misfires out here. Rolin, stick close to me. your a little light on armament, so i can help compensate that.

gm, whats the status of daylight here? is it night time? dusk? still bright out? also, do we have personal comms? and who is carrying the comms for talking to the big ship?

M Human Scoundrel 3/Scout 1/Soldier 1

Taking care to keep his head down, Gil waits for Iggins's recon as he slips out of the drop-pod and crouches in some nearby brush, not moving more than a dozen meters from the drop site.

It's still light enough to see without assistance but the planets star is already lowering towards the horizon. Eveyone with armour has an inbuilt comm unit in the helmet. Iggins has a headset comm. That's a good question Calahan... Cpt Jenkins, who has the long range comm unit?

The forest is deathly quiet and nothing stirs in amongst the trees, then there's a roar from over head as another drop-pod falls through the air. It 'lands' about 300 meters away to the south and some type of avian flock flies into the air screeching loudly. Iggins checks out the surrounding area while Calahan and Manus scan the area ready to lay down covering fire if necessary. However this part of the forest looks to be free from enemies. Iggins makes note of several landmarks and using a map that Nalis downloaded before leaving, you work out that your just over 1.5 Km from the city. Checking your crono, the time is 1823 (standard imperial centre time). Iggins leads the squad through the forest. Picking the best paths through the undergrowth towards the first mission objective. At 1856 you spot the city wall and the AA turret. Map

You have a few minutes to asses the situation and get into ideal positions before the attack begins. I've placed every ones avatars onto the map, if you would like to move to a better position before the attack begins give me the coordinates. Round one will begin when Cpt Jenkins gives the order to attack or if the enemy spots you so try to be stealthy. (The commando armour grants a +2 bonus to stealth.)

Jenkins has a good look at the area through his electrobinoculars.
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Knowledge Tactics 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
He thinks about the best way to use the terrain to get safely to the bunker.

"Iggins, probably best for you to find a place up on that bluff overlooking the bunker. You should be able to provide good covering fire, maybe take out anyone on heavy weaponry. We will also be relying on your eyes - talk us through everything you see. "

Iggins, when you are set up, provided I have line of sight, I can grant you an extra standard action to begin the attack. That should help with the surprise.

"Calahan, when we sneak toward the bunker, I think you should take a slightly different route, a little to the south of the rest of us. That way you can bunker down if you need to and take cover - and send them some hell - as the rest of us continue to advance. With any luck we won't be noticed. Worst case: we all are spotted. They will have to spread their firepower at three targets while we all concentrate our on one area.
"Are there any better ideas? "

I'm thinking to have Iggins begin an attack as we start to move - we try to sneak in under the cover of his fire.
One alternative is to sneak as far as we can before any shots are fired.
Another is we all go in with guns blazing.

Long range comm links are too heavy for a light commando force like us. We will either contact a drop ship in atmosphere, hijack a local communications system, or boost one of our short range comms.

Looking at the map now - Calahan, I mean if you take cover towards Y17, as the rest of us head from BI3 to V3.

Male Human Inquisitor (HP 11/11 | Destructive Smite 6/6 | Judgement 1/1 | Spells 2/2x1st)

"We may be able to maximise our chances at a quiet approach if we send Calahan and Rolin together, the rest of us have some stealth training, plus once Calahan opens up he's going to be the most obvious target, makes sense to have the med on hand."
Hope no-one minds me glancing through the character sheets, don't know if that's accepted or a faux-pas for pbf games? - seemed quicker than asking what people were like at stealth?

I'm glad you're doing that. It is a big step towards working as a team.

" Good thinking Nalis. "

too easy. Iggins, myself, and rolin will head towards the hill, in the bounding overwatch pattern, until we get to the hill. Iggins can then split off and get into position on the hill. while he is getting setup, rolin and myself will skirt the hill, same movement, until we get to the southwestern part of the hill. When iggins is set and able to provide cover, we will move up to the designated location and setup. i think the best course of action is to let iggins snipe the bunker, and once a squad comes out of hiding to flush him out, ill light them up like a fireworks display on coruscant

iggins, rolins, and myself will follow the path BI29, BD30, AY29, to AU30. at AU30 iggins splits off and stealths up the hill. rolin and i move to AN29 to AK28. then to AC24, finally at Y17. bounding overwatch movement, for a 3 man team, is 1 man moves 10-15 meters past the lead guy and gets into cover, 2 provide cover. then the last guy in line moves up to point, gets set, and so on.

So do I still have the 6 extra medpacks or where they re-distributed?

Rolin mumbles an affirmative as tactics are discussed keeping his own council about the group splitting up. 'Means I have to run around the whole area to patch them up. They best use the cover properly or I'll have words.' "Might be best if we approach from south of the hill as Calahan suggests. Utilizing the cover offered, sir."

Human Scout 5

"Aye sir, covering fire on the bluff sir. Shall I aim for taking out sentries or would suppressing fire as you advance work better?" Iggins nods at Callahan's suggestion and once they begin moving, will end up on the bluff at AI-24, prone and aiming toward the turret.

no rolin, everyone has a medpack on them.

if you can, iggins, take out someone with rank. preferably an officer, but some sergeant will do as well. strike fear into those rebel bastards.

M Human Scoundrel 3/Scout 1/Soldier 1

Listening to the tactics that are being discussed for Iggins, Calahan, and Rolin, Gil speaks up once they start talking about targets.
"Now, I need to get up behind that bunker in order to blow the turret; I should probably take a different path than the rest of you to help avoid notice, hopping from cover to cover (The bushes at AR6, AH3, and V3) until I get close enough to sneak behind them and take them by surprise. Just wait until I'm far enough in that to see me they would need to turn their heads from the group of you firing to see me, and we should be good."

"Okay, Manus, that idea has merit. I thought we would draw them out and storm the bunker, and blow it up from the inside. Which would you prefer?".

M elf-orc 1st cleric seperatist
quick info:

i doubt that they will leave the protection of the bunker. i bet they will send a squad out to sweep the area for iggins, and thats when ill hit them, but majority of them will sit behind the bunkers crete walls. you guys will have to go in and sweep it clear, with grenades.

...stop giving the GM ideas!

Jenkins draws a quick plan in the dirt.

"I think this is what you each mean..."
.
Plan of attack

Not sure when Gil wants the rest of the party.

M Human Scoundrel 3/Scout 1/Soldier 1

"Fair point Calahan, but if I am able to sneak up close enough, tossing in a few grenades would take no effort, especially if they aren't paying attention to me. And if you start firing when I get about here (AI3), I should be able to sneak around them and blow them sky high. Now I only have two frags; if anyone else has an extra they'd like to donate to the cause..."

"I don't carry any more Frags for you - but if you [Manus] or Calahan want to use this Smoke Grenade to flush them out of the building, take it. Otherwise, it'll have to wait till I get close enough."

throwing a frag at manus dont forget to cook it before throwing it in, otherwise they will just pick them up and throw them out.
doing a final check on his blaster, Calahan looks at everyone.
alright ladies, enough gossip. we have a plan. iggins myself, and rolin will be heading south for distraction. the rest will push up to the north using our noise as cover. Manus will then make the final sprint and grenade the bunker. Nailis, i want you to go with Manus to watch his back. Jenkins, you hang back at the tree and cover the northern flank of the bunker. plus, your position will allow you to provide us direction in battle.
now, lets move out

Human Scout 5

Iggins salutes Jenkins, shoulders his rifle and gives a sudden but joyous grin. "For the Empire!" He says in a low voice.

Cpt Jenkins takes in the situation through his electrobinoculars from the cover of the forest. Two things are visible over the lip off the bunker. The large barrel of an E web repeating blaster and the head of a human mostly obscured by his own set of electrobinoculars as he scans the edge of the forest. You can tell by the way he scans past your position that your squad hasn't been spotted.

A plan of attack is quickly formed with Iggins drawing the soldiers from the bunker, while Calahan and Rolin lie in wait below the bluff. While the rebels attention is drawn to the south Gil will sneak in from the north.

I'll need one stealth check from Iggins, two stealth checks from Calahan and Rolin and four from Gil.

Are Nalis and Jenkins going with the suggestions of Calahan? If so I'll need four stealth from Nalis.

Male Human Inquisitor (HP 11/11 | Destructive Smite 6/6 | Judgement 1/1 | Spells 2/2x1st)

Nalis looks to Jenkins for confirmation, on one hand a single target is harder to spot on the other a man alone in a dangerous situation can go wrong fast.

"Iggins, I can see a pair of binocs scanning this area - I want you to put some rounds back through his lens.
.
"Rolin, go with Calahan - I'm looking forward to your fireworks. Doc, I want you to lay down some fire along with Calahan. I'd suggest you stay one step behind him so that you aren't hit by what they send at him.
.
"I will be watching you all from back in these woods. I will be able to coordinate you better, and be able to relay any dangers - so keep your ears open. I will move in from the north or south, depending on where there is need."

Jenkins looks hard at his friend, his brow furrowed deeply. He talks quietly, [b]"Calahan, it is easy to give out orders. But it is something else to take responsibility for them. Your ideas are great, I've always said you were the better soldier. I will listen to your ideas. But in the end it is my arse on the line. If this all goes wrong you will still have your job, but I'll be rotting in some detention centre for years.

This is the map for the end of round 3. So far you all remain undetected.

Everyone roll initiative and state your actions for round 4. We will start regular rounds from here.

Initiative
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Jenkins keeps an eye on the bunker whilst staying in contact with each member of his team.
"Iggins, let me know when you're in position."
"Calahan, Rolins, are you able to find a good position?"
"Manus and Nalis, hold still a moment. That man in the bunker is sweeping your area. Wait. Okay, you're free to move again."

Round 4: Use Trust to give Calahan an extra Standard Action.

Is it a move action to be watching the bunker through the binocs?

Next round, probably give Manus the extra Standard Action.

laying prone in the dirt, Calahan pushes his rifle up and sets it ontop of a fallen branch. Motioning to Rolin, he whispers rolin, get behind some trees, and cover my left flank. ill need you to help me identify targets as they come out the side. priority targets are guys with heavy rifles, then moving down to smaller rifles and pistols. Pausing a moment, he pulls out the grenade launcher and hands it to rolin. only use susan as a last resort, when they are within 50 meters of us. itll suprise the hell out of them

Gil and Nalis dart from cover to cover, staying as low as they can, heading towards the bunker.

Iggins reaches his perch and drops prone, following his orders to the letter he calmly steadies himself and takes aim on the officer with the binoculars. Bzaap Bzaap! The retort of his rifle bounces off the walls and echoes around. The first bolt takes the man high on the shoulder spinning him, the binoculars fly forward out of his hands and land in some long grass before the bunker. The second shot nails him in the head and his body falls to the ground. Iggins lies deathly still, as four heads pop up from behind the bunker looking for the sniper looking for any target, Bzaap! Iggins lines up the next rebel (R4) who takes the blast in the shoulder. Two off the Rebels let off some nervous auto fire rounds with their carbines before one of them yells " Cease Fire! Cease Fire! " and they all duck down behind the bunker again.

Rolin stays low next to Calahan and is surprised when the tall soldier shoves a grenade launcher at him before dropping prone and letting off some suppressive fire over the bunker.

Manus and Nalis make one last dash across the field, their longest yet, as they scrap in behind some stones and bushes they know they've not yet been seen.
