Checking in. This should be fun and I'm looking forward to giving it a go. I've not playing in Rise of the Runelords but I've heard good things. :)
We've got an interesting party with some very disparate backgrounds. Appropriate for a backwater melting pot like Sandpoint:
- Karl Sarvo, cynical and pragmatic mercenary who always sees the job done.
- Alesta, Magnimaran archaeologist and tender-hearted scholar
- Nadine Garn, Mistreated tiefly witch who seeks a group who'll accept her
- Akdak, solemn and prideful Shoanti shaman with a half-orc's face
We'll see how it plays out with the Shoanti half-orc and the two Chelaxians. :)
Mechanically a bit caster heavy, but I think we can manage. Some strong control and support between the three casters. Alesta can do a bit of backup damage and both Nadine and I can summon (Nadine will be better at it with the Summon Monster), so I'm sure we'll manage. Karl should do well with a frontliner, wielding a greataxe and smashing everything.

Hello y'all! I'm from South Carolina.
Thank you for picking me and I look forward to adventuring with all of you! Also Ahdak that's a good idea for Alesta. She can also do traps and lock picking, as well as handle diplomacy and can serve as a backup healer as well as serving as a backup melee fighter.

Indeed the group is pretty intriguing, it's one of those gathering of adventurers that I'd look forward to reading about in fantasy books, and as you said it's the disparity of the personalities that really makes this group shine; differing opinions, morals and methods should really make for some fun RP.
As for mechanically I am not too worried, we have all the roles covered and the bounty hunter archetype of the slayer buffs dirty trick heavily, so should one of our enemies save against a spell they'll have to deal with sand in their eyes or a swift kick to the groin. Simple but surprisingly effective ;)

Welcome to the front lines, cookies and coffee are held by our happy and not forced into labor random bystander, so feel free to indulge after smashing one too many goblin skulls.

Great to meet y'all. As an FYI, you can expect my posts between 12:30-1:30pm PST, and then anywhere from 5:30 PM PST til 2:00 AM PST on week days. More freedom on weekends. I plan to take a support/control role of it wasn't already assumed

I can usually post in the mornings, late afternoons, and late evenings, but it also depends on what times I work.

Just curious here, but are you okay if we've read the AP book? I work in a bookstore. And also just curious here about this as well, where is everyone from, real life wise that is?
Alesta
I'm from the best coast west coast. Rolled a lotta dice for the last decade and a half
<_<
Okay....no comment.
Alesta wrote:Just curious here, but are you okay if we've read the AP book? I work in a bookstore. As long as you can separate player and character knowledge.
Sure thing! I tend to run AP books to get a feel of what I'm getting myself into; also I love to read! Besides, this AP reminds me of a classic D&D adventure but I can't recall which one.
I apologize if I sound impatient, but when do we start? Just curious as I'm just waiting to get my food from KFC before heading back to my house. Oh there it is now. :3
Alesta
We will either start tonight or tomorrow.
Finally! Someone else who likes KFC. XD
Well of course I like KFC! It was invented in the south of course. ;)
Ahdak Speaks-with-Stars
Not a KFC fan here, sorry. :) I do have a particular fondness of biscuits and gravy though and there are a few places I like getting it in my hometown (CO).
Alesta
It's cool. I don't normally eat a lot of fast food, but I do once in a while.
Looking forward to getting started.
I finally realized what classic D&D adventures Runelords reminds me of: Keep on the Borderlands, Temple of Elemental Evil, and Against the Giants all combined! And those classics are my favorites!

@GM It seems that I goofed and forgot to give Alesta a spell component pouch. So is it okay if I sell back one ink vial and get the pouch please? That'll leave me with 5 gp, 2 sp, 6 cp. Just wanted to make sure that's alright. Sorry for the mistake there.
Alesta
Cool! Thank you! Alright it's fixed.
Again sorry about the mistake.
Seems like things are moving along just fine!
Alesta
That's good. I know the feeling myself as I always forget to buy a bedroll, or a spell component belt or heck even the holy symbol! So it's cool.

Just wanted to check in with you, SoulDragon. Were you wanting to give us more time to RP here at the front?
Alesta
Was about to ask the same thing here. I was surprised none of the major npcs haven't freaked out yet due to the many bells ringing. Which during this adventure there's the chance this may come in handy, although she has no control over it.
Might be good to gather the party members to be relatively close to one another. I think.
Alesta
Perfectly alright. Besides it gave us a chance to rp a good bit. Not to mention cause some hijinks in town. ;)
Karl Sarvo
@Nadine: It's usually a daily thing with people making as many posts as they can, on weekends most games slow down.
@GM: I hate to be that guy but someone has to, when are you planning on taking a more active part in this game? Even if you wanted us to rp things out first, you still have to resolve rolls and rp the npcs. It has been almost a week now with no posts made from you in the gameplay thread aside from the first, if you do not have the time to run a pbp game please say so, we can find someone else to take over the game's GM duties if that is the case.
Alesta
Yeah I'm worried too. I hope our gm is okay.
Alesta
It's cool. I guess we might have gone overboard with the rolls and all but you have to admit it does make things unique right?
And we are all glad you're doing okay!
Karl Sarvo
I'm fine guys, it's just that I wasn't expecting rolls and I guess I've just ran the beginning of RotRl so many times without it becoming a full campaign that it's become mundane to me. I'm really sorry, I'll try to post more often.
Sorry but it's clear from your response and your lack of gameplay posts that you've no real desire to run this campaign. I personally am stepping out of this game.
If all of you decide to leave as well please inform me; we could start a "looking for GM thread" in the recruitment forums and see about finding a GM to run the campaign with us.

Sorry, but I guess I'm tired of always being a GM and never being a player. Not that I don't like GMing, but I just end up doing it constantly. I'm really sorry if I disappointed you guys.

And that's not a big deal, it just means you should submit some characters to games instead of trying to GM. :) We'll find a replacement GM and go from there. I'm the same way with my tabletop gaming (always the GM), so PBP is my escape from that.

Maybe I should just do homebrews on here, since they're not as constricting. And I would like to submit characters, but I'm always intimidated by the amount of people applying, or the campaign uses gestalt rules, which I know nothing about. Plus, there hasn't been anything in Recruitment lately that interests me.
Alesta
Well you could still be a part of this group.. You could submit a character and still take part. You did get the ball rolling for this adventure so it's only fair that we invite you to be a part of it as a player instead of a gm.
Alesta
It's okay. I've pretty much read every campaign I'm in, except for homebrew ones.
I've read this one myself, and separating player and character knowledge is pretty easy to do, so don't worry about it. And we look forward to seeing what you come up with. There are some good campaign traits that the rest of us haven't used like giant slayer and monster hunter.

Hello all, if you are interested, I have opened a new thread here where we will re-boot this game and get it off the ground.
Please join me there if you have a notion.
