"A worthwhile effort. I considered something similar, though I was thinking to wait until we were done with our investigation of the Horn. Perhaps we'll find the command words documented somewhere."


You watch on as Sariana runs through the alphabet. Nothing happens until she get to Vah, at which point, she disappears with a sizzle and pop.

Sariana:
You suddenly find yourself sitting on a throne outside. The throne rests, slightly askew, in the woods amid a jumble of moss and vegetation covered ruins. Whatever once stood here has long been reclaimed by the forest.

Given that it may well be light outside Sariana returns to the throne room as quickly as she can speak the word.

"It was some sort of ruin." She reports when she returns. "Outside in the forest. Nothing much left but it would be worth exploring in future."

Then for the sake of completeness she tries to finish the alphabet - just in case.

"We should check the rest of the rooms on this level. I still don't believe we have found the most important chambers. If they are hidden behind secret doors, I'll have to really scour this place room by room."

What next folks? There's lots of interesting things on this floor to poke about with. If you are just super keen on getting to the next floor, 2-5 has a cage with an exit chute in the ceiling, just like 1-23 on the floor below did. You now know that 1-23 is below a pit trap on the second floor. Just saying...

I think for right now, it might be a good idea to move us up to the next floor. We'll have plenty of time to truly explore, as you said we're here for quite awhile, but we also wanna reach our actual objective.

Having seen inside several rooms (2-17, 2-18, 2-19, 2-20, 2-21), Molasbar guides the group down the long corridor to a wide open chamber.

We'll go over and check out 2-16 next. It looks like most of the rest of the rooms are off of 2-16. If 2-16 is unremarkable, we will move on to 2-15, then go counterclockwise around the room (2-14, 2-13, etc.). When we hit 2-11, we will check out 2-12 before going on to 2-10. As an afterthought, we'll go back to 2-2 (through 2-20) last.

2-1:
The entryway to the second level is accessible via a small winding stairway that hugs the side of the Horn. This small stairway rises almost two hundred feet and is covered in places with thick ropy vines. The aperture opens onto a forty foot long entryway that should be a death trap. Between the arrow slits (six on the right, six on the left), the pit trap and the half-wall at the corridor’s end, this should be a true defensive hard point of the Horn. Now, it is anything but. No one mans this defensive hallway.
A once concealed pit trap is open and obvious, a twenty foot wide chasm with a wooden plank put across it. The pit trap falls in room 1-23 below.

2-2:
Guard room.

2-3:
Guard room.

2-4:
Empty room with the remnants of a pyre in the middle.

2-5:
Capture pen like you found in 1-23.

2-6:
Empty barracks.

2-7:
Room full of smashed statues.

2-8:
Large private quarters with an impressive oak four-poster bed.

2-9:
Room full of ash and rubble. A mural shows two Greater Ceustodaemon being summoned from the nether planes and bound using plates of iron.

2-10:
Empty barracks.

2-11:
This chamber has a human skeleton nailed to the western wall by a spear with a broken haft. Written above the impaled skeleton is the phrase: “The Master of Acolytes, stealer of children. Let all who would turn to darkness see his fate and return to the light.”

2-12:
This room was ransacked like everything else on this level. But in this case, the ransacking including smashing murals. There is now a sizeable hole in the western wall. Through this hole has come the aggressive greenery of the Caer Bryr and now vines and creepers fill this chamber. The hole is clogged with foliage but still could allow someone of medium size to cut through and enter here.

2-13/14/15:
Ransacked Alcolyte chambers

2-16:
Courtyard with a fountain and a candelabra shedding magical light.

2-17:
Ransacked priest quarters.

2-18:
Mitran shrine. The demon could not enter the room.

2-19:
Alcolyte chamber with a headless statue in the center.

2-20:
Temple similar to that you found on level one. There is also a throne in it. The walls are decorated with elaborate murals.

2-21: Long hallway decorated with detailed murals.

There is nothing alive on this floor. The points of interest are indicated on the above descriptions. Pick one that you want to follow up on. If there doesn't like there is something interesting in a room, then there is nothing interesting in the room.

In 2-4, can we tell who or what was burned in the pyre?

In 2-7, are the statues 'highly detailed' like the decapitated statue we found previously? Do the fragments look like petrified cultists or Mitrans?

Examining the trap Sariana makes her suggestion. "Unless someone can help Albrekt and I fly through the trap the best option is probably for Albrekt to boost me up. I'll climb through and lower a rope to bring the rest of your up."

The question becomes whether Stone Shape can act to restore the statue/corpses or if Rose is limited to Make Whole for that purpose.

She follows the others to the entry to the next floor. "I can't help much with this one, but I'm guessing Sariana can execute her plan pretty easily."

Poking about the wreckage with both mundane and magical means your find several items of note. It doesn't take long to realize that some of the papers in the mess pertain to the golem. Under Xanos' supervision you quickly sort through the papers and piece together the schematics for the alchemical golem. At the top of the first page is the name 'Artephius'. You find the remains of many a robed figure and demon, but none have the level of detail of the headless statue you found previously. Poking about, Molasbar notices a piece of statuary in a different style from the rest. Picking it out of the rubble, he sees that it is a stone head, carved in stunning detail. You have found the statue's missing head.

She did say she finished out the alphabet after 'Vah' but I guess that got missed somehow.

While Xanos and Sariana are discussing the teleporters, Molasbar comes up with a stone head.

"Xanos, I believe I found the head from the decapitated statue we found earlier. If the seam is not too fragmented, we may be able to replace it and use the stone salve to restore him. If he is indeed from the time frame of the Mitrans' assault on this place, it may be valuable to question him."

@Xanos/All: Are we going to try to restore the petrified man now? You would need to use mending or something similar to restore the stone head to the body. You can then use the stone salve to return him to flesh and blood.

With that agreed on, we will move to the room with the decapitated statue. Molasbar will fit the head onto the statue, making sure to align it carefully. He'll hold it in place while Haruk mends it with his spell.

Once mended, Molasbar will get the extract to restore the man to flesh. Before applying it, he'll tell Sariana "Stand ready. If he tries to cast a spell when returned to life, restrain him or render his unconscious, but don't do last harm."

The minor repair work done, you apply the stone salve to the statue. Ever so slowly the stone begins to regain color, until with a violent gasp, the man is restored. He collapses nervelessly to the floor twitching spasmodically for a few moments before looking about in confusion and letting out a bewildered "What...?

Sariana takes the collapsing bodies weight in her arms without flinching. Her grip on the man holds him up, but could easily turn as she sees Albrekt slowly gathering in rope.
